This book was more of a history lesson - not useful for travel.......2007-08-23
This book made visiting Egypt sound like it was as easy as visiting Paris. Calling the locals a little aggressive but it was all in good fun is very far off. Don't even think about rening a car or using the subway system (as this book describes). I was really looking for a book that would tell me what it was really like and offer useful tips on how to navigate through this foreign culture. This book did not provide any useful travel information.

Not a Memorable Book But Good Nonetheless.......2006-05-18
I read this book recently and I found it to be okay. I rather enjoyed the original characters. Each one was unique in their own way. Each character had their own spot in the story and none of them were pushed to the back of the spotlight. The overall plot of the story is very interesting and humorous. I disliked one thing with the plot; a really weird series of events would have to happen in real life for it to ever occur. The sense of humor is great throughout the entire story and I found myself laughing in the middle of reading it. The main character Duff changed a lot through the story and gained a lot of wisdom in a short time span. The stories that have characters changing over time I think are the easiest to relate to. I also think the book is okay because of its length. I think the book is too short to make a huge impact on the reader. Compared to other books I have read this one just doesn't stand out in my mind. It is a good book to read in your spare time but don't take a lot of time to explore any more of the book. In conclusion I gave this book 3 out 5 stars.
don't judge a book by its cover........2006-04-06
The title is too generic and the cover picture too boring. I picked this book up only because it was in the NEW ARRIVALS section of my library. The premise also seems cliche. What's this? Another story about a socially-challenged friendless teenager?
But this turned out to be one of the better books I recently enjoyed. I especially love--or maybe it's because of--Stu's presence. I rarely fall in love with a fictitious character from a novel, but Stu captured my attention right away with his lovable personality. Yeah, I see why the main character (Duff? I can't even remember his name) is jealous of him; he has every right to be.

This is a good easy read book. I am a big fan of Mrs. Duprau's other books,and was excited when this one was released. The guy in the book reminds me a lot of me, so that was pretty cool :)
Great for those lazy beach days...........2005-10-28
Jeanne DuPrau combines mystery, comedy and romance to pull off a wonderfully captivating book. The characters are hilariously realistic and get themselves into all sorts of unimaginable predicaments, some of which involve con artists and vomiting cats. The plot, although slightly predictable, moves along at a clipped pace, keeping you involved from start to satisfying finish. This is a wonderful book to read while you're out lazing on the beach this summer.

This book is well written, clear, and nicely organized. Easy to use, you can jump around in it to troubleshoot, or read it from cover to cover. Definitely one of the best how-to books out there.

Good, general overview.......2004-02-08
One of the things that most appealed to me about this book was fact that it did provide info and guidelines for working on older cars. I've read several other care care/repair books and none of them had guidelines for cars older than about 1980. The guidelines in this book are rather general, but they should suffice for a beginner or for somebody who doesn't need their hand held the whole time.
Unlike most car care books that stop at explaining how to check fluids and change your oil, this one does give at least some general (very general) info on replacing a carburetor or automatic choke, or repairing a fuel-injection system. As noted by the author, however, these jobs really do require a Chiltons or Haynes manual. Since the book does include "Idiot's" in the title, you can bet it won't be nearly as detailed as an aftermarket or shop manual.
One thing I found really irritating were all of the cutesy words and phrases used by the author. It may be for "Idiot's", but we are still adults. On the plus side, the author does provide an entire chapter on using the Internet to further your knowledge. While the info provided was pretty useless (show me one person under 60 who doesn't know the components of a URL), he did offer a bunch of links that I found helpful.

Nice easy read. Good bathroom book for people like me, who don't know a damn thing about cars (hey, I grew up and lived in a city with public transporation most of my life). I agree that it doesn't really go into alot of specifics. The author tells the reader to go out and get an aftermarket guide (such as Haynes) if you need to do something serious (which I did). In that respect, this book is probably a good starting point for the person who knows absolutely nothing (to get an overview), but it can't serve as the best reference guide for your particular model of car. Other then that, it gives you a general overview of the different systems that have to be in any automobile, a very basic overview of what to look for when inspecting your ride and then some instructions on working with the simple stuff and what goes one when professionals need to do the heavy stuff. Worth the price.

unless your car is over twenty years old this book is useless. Most of the described maintenance and adjustments simply don't apply to newer cars. Plus I found the descriptions for how to do the repairs so vague that it would be impossible to carry them out.

Very helpful and concise book. Ramsey makes learning about cars not only interesting but fun as well. Although the book cant go completely into detail on every car repair there is, the book offers more than enough information to make a person have a clear undestanding on how a car works and what needs to be done when there's trouble with it.

Truck Trouble is a top-notch story for young children about the day's activities of a truck driver. Children will be captivated with the details of a driver's life, even sometimes sleeping in the little cab of his rig.
The book provides a picture dictionary review of all important terminology, and the story's end shows how John the driver's job impacts the lives of others.

Truck Trouble no trouble for little ones!.......2000-06-19
I bought this book on a whim one year ago when my daughter was 3 years old. I wasn't sure if she would like a book about trucks. The first time I read it to her, she fell in love with it. She loves the pictures and story about the truck driver, his life in his truck (complete with bed), and his troubles on the road. I still have to read this book to her, now that she is four years old and into princess fairies. I highly recommend this book for all kids, even if you think they may not be truck lovers.

Little Red Car Gets into Trouble was the perfect first pop-up book for our 18-month old son. It's sturdily contructed, with pull-tabs that are easy for a first-timer to manipulate. We've found that the pull-tabs for most pop-up books may seem simple for us, but often require actions that are confusing or difficult for a very young toddler (pushing tabs left to right and back is suprisingly difficult for young toddlers who don't have good three dimensional hand control yet). In Little Red Car, all actions are so simple and well-marked that our son could do them on his own after the first try. Plus, it has a dump truck, a loader, and a stop light.
