Great Wedding Photography Book!.......2007-10-03
This book has excellent recommendations and techniques for capturing the most beautiful wedding photos. The pictures published in this book alone are worth the cost of the book, IMO. They are beautiful and give great ideas. She tells you exactly how she captured the photo although I would've liked some more technical info on some of the photos. I highly recommend this book.
are you a photographer?.......2007-10-01
If you are a photographer, you know perfectly well that no book is going to teach you much of the style you develop on your own. It is great for general ideas, but you really should be able to see who you are working with and figure out what kind of shots will suit the couple. I doubt that there are many brides that will appreciate a picture like the one on the front cover of this book.
Strong photographs, weak on techniques.......2007-09-02
If you're looking for a book that illustrates wedding photography in broad strokes, this book is fine. It talks about breaking the day down into different sections, what the photographer likes to have in her bag, some post-processing filters she uses, etc... However the treatment is on the shallow end in detail.
On the back of the book it says "... to inspire any bride-to-be and the photographer on her special day." I think as long as your not looking for more than inspiration, this book will be fine, however it does not really go into technical depth on the challenges and techniques to handle those challenges that a wedding photographer will encounter.
It's really aimed more at inspiration than instruction.
Good general book on Digital Wedding photography.......2007-05-15
Bambi covers all the basics, from before the event, the event, manipulating the image and delivery. Not a lot of details (except she does give exactly what is in her camera bag), but overall a good book. I was somewhat surprised at the poor quality of some of the images, especially the cover image. Not what one would expect from Bambi.
First book much better.......2006-12-07
I returned this book after the first read. As a new wedding photographer I admire Cantrell's style and her first book was excellent, thus I had high expections for her second book which covered digital wedding photography. It seems as if she was distracted in writing this book. The explanations regarding equipment, dealing with the wedding couple, pricing, are vague and the explanations tired and repetetive, and many of the photos are out of focus and grainy. Definitely not of the quality and caliber of her first writing endeavor. If one is buying this book searching for ideas on how to effectively manage your digital workflow, deal with jpeg vs. raw, eye-candy photos for inspiration for one's one work, and digital techniques for wedding photography, you will not find it here. You may want to purchase her first book for inspiration and ideas, it is better written.

THE Best Digital Wedding Guide !.......2006-04-27
I have been interested in digital wedding photography but couldn't find the right help. I purchased the book and this is it! Ms. Woodford has provided a step-by-step guide that far exceeded my expectations.
This book is NOT for the experienced Photoshop user.......2006-04-09
I was looking at purchasing this book for several months. In the mean time (and a little prior to) I studied and learned Photoshop from reading other books, the internet, and simply using the program. Well, when I finally decided to go ahead and purchase this book I was/am well versed with PS.
This book is WAY to simple in terms of "album design". It doesn't show anything I would call fancy, clever, or even good in designing in PS. It's the very basics when you use PS in the first place. If you already know PS dealing with layer, styles, etc, don't waste your money on this book. On the other hand if you don't know PS I would suggest a book geared strickly towards learning PS because you will get more out of a dedicated book. This book tries to cover digital album design within PS but you really don't gain a whole lot of knowledge. I think out of the entire book the only thing I got from it was a a place to download a film strip template from the author's website. Nuttin' else!
On a more personal note, the designs themselves are rather simple and boring (and I'm not an "out there" kind of guy). I don't want to be to harsh but I think the the designs are ugly. The auther is said to have won a design contest, but I really don't see how....unless of course the designed album was not displayed in this particular book.
In the end, get yourself a dedicated Photoshop book. This "design" book aint that good.
I gave it two stars because it goes step-by-step.
Great Book.......2006-03-24
The book has more of what I expected, it has useful links and will help any wedding photographer to have a guide to create great albums.
It is a must have...
The Professional Photographer's Digital Wedding Album Design Guide.......2006-03-21
The day I recieved this book and opened it I just knew it will pay itself many times. My copy is in my reference album design drawer just next to my computer, it has been an inspirational book when I design something for my customers. Its easy to follow and full of "down to earth" ideas and solutions.I recomend it to my fellow photographer peers at any level!!!!
A no-nonsense guidebook to Adobe Photoshop techniques for creating beautiful digital albums.......2005-11-12
The Professional Photographer's Digital Wedding Album Design Guide is a no-nonsense guidebook to Adobe Photoshop techniques for creating beautiful digital albums. Chapters cover why template and design programs are unnecessary, how to set up a secure digital workflow with back-up solutions, how to use proof selection software with clients in one's studio, solid design principles, factors that influence a fair price for albums, and more. Avoiding excessively long tutorials, The Professional Photographer's Digital Wedding Album Design Guide is very much a "quick start" reference for producing quality work with proven methods. Highly recommended for professional and amateur digital album designers alike.

A MUST HAVE!!!!.......2007-08-24
THIS BOOK PROVIDES THE INFORMATION YOU NEED TO SELECT EQUIPMENT AND EVERYTHING THERE AFTER. I FOUND IT TO BE VERY USEFUL IN ALOT OF AREAS THAT I WAS UNSURE OF. AFTER READING THIS BOOK I CAN HONESTLY SAY I HAVE LEARNED ALOT!!!!
Great Book!!!.......2007-02-15
This book is a great book. Once again, Patrick walks you through the digital aspect of digital photography for weddings & portraits. This is a great book for someone who is considering going digital. It is also a great book for someone who has already made the leap into digital because Patrick explains things in such a way that everyone can understand. I have been shooting digital for over a year now and I found this book to be very helpful. It explained alot of things for me. It clarified things that I was confused on.
I have read all of Patrick Rice's books. And I highly recommend all professional photographers do the same. Patrick has won many awards for his work. We could all learn something from him.
A perspective why digital is better. Not how to take better pictures.......2006-11-30
This is a book about why digital is better with perspectives from several people. It is not about digital photography techniques used for weddings or portraits. I found no usefull information for me in this book!
It does have a few nice photos in it but overall I found it to be a total waste of my money. If you think you may want this book, make sure you take a look at it at your local book store before buying it.
Good Place To Start.......2006-03-26
As a professional photographer just moving into digital photography, I found this book very helpful. The author explains digital imaging, cameras, CF cards, and everything elde you need to know about converting to digital from film. The images are really nice and I know this will be an invaluable guide for many photographers.
Author Comments on Book.......2006-02-24
As the author of this book, I wanted to create a easy to read, easy to understand guide for anyone considering digital portrait or wedding photography.
Digital imaging technology is described at length. There is probably more information here than you will ever need, but I would rather have too much instead of too little.
The book is illustrated with images of my own as well as several award-winning professional photographers.
Book Description
Addressing the reservations many wedding photographers have about digital photography, this guide explains the many valuable benefits of this technology, including saved labor costs and quick turnaround time. Topics covered include equipment selection and usage; scheduling digital prewedding, wedding day, and postwedding sessions; managing the workload; and using digital proofs. Photographers learn how to market their images-from dealing with client questions to pricing images-and how to use digital imaging software to make easy and effective corrections to flawed images. Providing practical information on running a profitable photography business, this book also gives important technical instruction that will help photographers embrace technology and realize the true potential and profit of their art.
Customer Reviews:
One of the worst!.......2006-04-06
This is a book about marketing NOT photography! If you want to know about the business side of it, this is the book to get, otherwise forget it. It's a waste of money!
A Monumental Waste of $30.......2005-07-19
My wife and I are long-time photographers (digital and film) who are planning on adding wedding photography to our resumes. We found this book to be useless.
Consider the title: Professional Techniques for Digital Wedding Photography. First, there is very little content in this book that would qualify as a "professional technique." In fact, only a handful of pages are dedicated to any sort of photographic technique. Second, much of the book is wasted trying to convince the reader that it's time to invest in digital photography. Well, if you've purchased a book for "...Digital Wedding Photography", there's a pretty good chance that you've already made (or are about to make) the leap into the digital medium.
As for content, I am not sure to whom the authors are targeting this book. The initial chapters are spent trying to convince the professional photographer that his/her days are numbered if he/she is still shooting film. The remainder of the book appears to be targeting aspiring wedding photographers by providing a marginally useful discussion of the business end of wedding photography (something a professional is already familiar with) along with a very shallow treatment of Photoshop techniques. Finally, the photos are, by and large, less than inspirational.
If you are a newbie hoping to start your own wedding photography business, this book may provide a few useful tidbits but won't do much to get you there. More likely, you will be annoyed by the condescending digital-or-nothing tone prevalent throughout this book. If you are a professional photographer, then you are probably already familiar with the pros & cons of switching to digital photography. If not, I suggest putting the $30 toward a new lens and try a free book instead: the Yellow Pages. Find a nearby professional camera shop. You'll get more information regarding the costs and advantages of going digital than you will from this book.
Focus is on the Business of Photography.......2005-04-20
Do not look at this book if you are interested in improving your photography. I has a few "tricks" for making some slick modern looking images in post production, but there is little to no mention of capturing the images on the day of the wedding. However, I would HIGHLY RECCOMEND this book to professional photographers looking to actually run their business like a business. Although some of the sales techniques in this book are "high pressure" they can easily be tuned down to fit the individual photographer's taste. The negative reviews I have seen in here so har have mostly been from people who are only interested in the art of photography, and not the business side of it. All I have to say is that digital is making the market far more competitive. Not making the transition to digital today would be like not making the transition to color a few decades ago. Film is going the way of "fine art" and will have little commercial use in the next few years.
It's not about photography, it's about imaging and marketing.......2005-03-11
The book starts by highlighting the savings a studio can realize on film, developing, proofs, etc. and then goes on to outline the $30,000 to $40,000 investment needed (not including employees and computer consultants) to purchase digital cameras, computers, archival printers, multiple software titles, etc, etc needed for digital wedding photography! And, of course, all of this equipment needs to be replaced every 5 years, as technology continues to suck up your profits. I am sick of seeing a lousy fake B&W photograph of a bride holding a colored bouquet! Is this photography? I didn't see one good photo in the entire book. These people wouldn't know an f/stop from a bus stop. It's all about "creating" images on a computer. If you're truly interested in photography, don't waste you time on this book. Using a film camera, I think I can shoot a wedding for far less dollars than these marketing people can. And, I'll compose my photos (not images) in my viewfinder and not on my computer. Save your money.
Not enough content.......2005-02-11
This book spends too much time telling us obvious things like "take baby steps", "set obtainable goals" and "make a plan" and "write your plan down". This book would be better if the authors had spent more time actually discussing specific types of digital gear. It would have also been nice if they had discussed the gear they use, and how they converted their studio from film to digital. This book is just so THIN on meaningful content.

He wears a skirt and does backflips! Ewwwwwww.......2004-03-08
Keith, K-Squared, Keef... who is this man of a thousand faces? And why is he so damn creative?
The K Chronicles are one of my favorite strips. Worldly-concious, thought provoking, or for no reason at all. Tales of touring with his band, trying to find a vegetarian restaurant in Texas, or trying to get laid (never happens), are all part of this collection. Everyone will find something to relate to in his strips because it's about you and your neighbors. The stoner next door, the roommate you never ever see but leaves a pile of dishes for you to clean, your fledgling band touring Bar Mitzvahs and beer halls. Yeah, it's all in there.
And since Keef is A) not a giant MTV pop-star, and B) quite down-to-Earth, he will sign your book (or body parts) for you if ask him nicely. So, when he DOES become that unapproachable MTV pop-star you can say you knew him before the money clouded his brain and the creativity went down the toilet.
Don't forget to check out his other books: FEAR OF A BLACK MARKER, WHAT A LONG STRANGE TRIP IT'S BEEN, and RED, WHITE, BLACK & BLUE: the first and brand-spanking new collection of Keef's single panel daily comic, (th)ink.
Check out his website at www.kchronicles.com for more info and artwork. Also check out his band The Marginal Prophets (imagine if Frank Zappa and Digital Underground made a CD, it would sound so not like this, but just more the same. Right?)
There Outta be a Pulitzer.......2001-11-27
I can't believe Keith Knight doesn't get more attention. It can't be just because he uses "language or suggestive themes," because Matt Groenig does that all the time in Life in Hell, and he always got tons of press, even before the Simpsons. Zippy the Pinhead everyone's heard of. Even Ernie Pook's Comeek, and heck, Trotts and Bonnie... oh, nevermind.
Buy this book. Knight's a freaking genius. He's a generation X'er (maybe that's why he doesn't get a lotta press), but that makes him the cartoonist of my generation, as far as I'm concerned. If you were born after the Kennedy assassination, but are old enough to remember the Bicentennial, there outta be a law; you should be REQUIRED to buy this book. Or maybe our parents should be required to buy it for us.
Oh, just get it.
Keef is hilarious!.......2001-09-21
I really love the K Chronicles, and this and Fear of A Black Marker are terrific - funny, insightful, brilliant, pretty much everything you want in a comic book!
Don't wash this book.......2001-03-17
....
Keith Knight's book is a madcap look into his world of public transportation, psycho roommates, dating, and cartooning, as well as being an insightful, intelligent look at racism, social politics, and other issues. I especially love the ones about riding the bus and about when Keith and a friend went to a gay bar. My jaw still hurts from laughing. ....
Some hope for the future of comics.......1998-10-02
I accidently discovered Keith Knight through Salon online by way of Tom Tomorrow. I read through his archives and had to buy his book he was hawking. And let me tell you it was hilarious. Unlike other weekly cartoons, Keith Knight doesn't try to be too hip or "experimental" with his drawing style. His drawing is reminisent of Harvey Kurtzman's "Hey Look!" and his stories are like Joe Matt's "Peep Show" single pagers. I'm glad Keith Knight continues to put out a new strip every week and I look forward to his next compilation. It makes for a pleasant read over and over again.
