Quiet Waters with loud praises.......2006-11-03
This is an excellent book for those yakers who are looking for an escape from motor boat laden waters. It is well illustrated and has helpful tips on where to put in and what to expect as you traverse the water ways.
Book Description
Hidden guides combine unique travel choices, outdoor adventures and little-known locales into a guide where vacations meet adventures. Each guide includes detailed maps, complete internet information for each listing, highlighted author favorites, suggested itineraries and walking and driving tours. Hidden New England is written for the new generation of backroad explorers who are driving through this six-state region with very personal intentions. Understanding that the modern traveler isn't looking to be herded to the same beach or mountain resort as everyone else, Hidden New England focuses on the little hotels, restaurants and shops that define this always-independent region including 30 antique stores. Its recommended lodging options include 209 country inns, 43 cabins, and even 87 campgrounds. Hidden New England reveals the area's history at 17 Revolutionary War sites and 100 historic "American" castles and estates. Spectacular natural spots are revealed, including fall-foliage viewing in 179 parks, beaches and wilderness areas, and 224 hiking and 83 cycling trails. A special section on lighthouses leads to 11 of the area's most interesting. This edition features 20 new maps.

Mobile Guide.......2000-07-03
The book gives a good overview of the areas with many addresses. Anyhow I found it a bit too black and white. It gives useful maps, but no coloured pictures from the areas, which would make it a bit more pleasant to read.
Mobil Travel Guide 2000 - Northeast.......2000-05-27
I highly recommend this guide to anyone who will be traveling in the Northeast as well as Canada. This guide gives you everything from upcoming events for the year to where to stay & eat. The maps are easy to read and follow. I have been a reader of the Mobil Guide for many years and it is continuing to give the most accurate, up-to-date travel information. This is the MUST-HAVE for the Northeast traveler.
Book Description
Where and how to fly fish within two or three hours of downtown Boston.
Terry Tessein, a veteran of a lifetime of fishing the New England coastline, shares those years of experience in the first detailed guidebook to the multitude of fly fishing possibilities within easy reach of downtown Boston. From the shores of Rhode Island to the coastline of southern Maine, Tessein will guide the reader on where to go, when to go to find particular species, and what flies and tactics to use at each venue.
Fly Fishing Boston covers both well known areas like the Joppa Flats of Newburyport, as well as the relatively unknown and underfished areas along this stretch. In addition, Tessein explains such important coastal fishing information as tides and how they affect the movement of fish. Finally, Fly Fishing Boston is detailed enough to provide even regional fly patterns unique to specific zones. It will be a book to both read in the off-season and to pack in the tackle bag when heading out for a day of fishing. 30 black and white photographs, 6 maps, index.
Well-published author with impressive fishing credentials
The only book on the subject
Detailed where-to and how-to information (not just another general book on fishing the coast)
Features an introduction by one of the best known coastal fishermen
Book Description
A gentle hiking guide to Rhode Island's diverse natural and historic treasures.
For years Ken Weber has been educating visitors and natives to the historic and natural wonders of the Ocean State. The 40 walks and gentle hikes in this new guide reveal the best terrain the state has to offer, both urban and rural.
This guide includes the cliffs of Block Island; the beaches of Ninigret and Napatree; the quiet woods and fields of the Northwestern Corner; the wildlife sanctuaries and islands of Narragansett Bay; and the mansions of Cliff Walk in Newport. The walks range from 1.5 to 9 miles in length, from gentle strolls to more challenging day hikes. Each chapter includes directions to the trailhead, a detailed map, a complete description of the route, and natural and historic highlights you'll see along the way. 30 black & white photographs, 41 maps.

Great guide to Rhode Island's outdoors.......2006-01-12
This book provides detailed and accurate suggestions and advice for weekend rambles. It was a great way to introduce my 5 year old and 3 year old to the outdoors, and a good introduction to the lovely countryside of Rhode Island as well. Much better than some other similar guides which were not well researched and suggested trails that got us lost!

Customer Reviews:
Great river reviews - your mileage may vary!.......2007-01-03
A handy sized, informative guide to rivers in our area. We have used this to plan numerous trips on rivers and have found the guide to be (relatively) accurate and easy to use. Having said that, we discovered (duh!) that rivers change over time and that this guide is a great STARTING point for trip planning. Good scouting and maybe talking to people with experience on the river in question are valuable parts of good trip prep. There is a website for the book where people can submit changes or inaccuracies that they have discovered - this helps to keep the guide current. All in all one of the best we've looked at.
