Dog gone entertaining.......2006-11-10
We originally found this book at the library. We wore it out in the two weeks we had it. The only problem was when the book was put together it was not in order. My kids wanted to check it out again but I was afraid they would think that was the order of the alphabet so I ordered them their own copy. The pictures are great and they will use the phrases from each letter over and over again. It's helped my three year old recognize letters everywhere. We bought a few more Wegman books because we enjoyed this one sooo much!
Great for the little one, great for Mom and Dad.......2001-07-26
This was one of my son's first favorite books. He would listen to me read it as many times as I was willing, and because of Wegman's non-cutesy approach, that was many times indeed. Although the dog-formed letters aren't as clear as text, they don't need to be - there are many other instances of the letters on each page, and hearing them is as important as seeing them. Overall, a great experience in enjoying reading for parent and child alike.
A new approach to the alphabet.......2000-01-27
This book made me wish learning the a-b-c's were this much fun back in my own childhood. The photos are amazingly original and your kids will truly enjoy coming back to their letter lessons with Wegman's adorable dogs. A very fresh approach to teaching! NOTE: check out Wegman's fairy tales featuring his prize dogs too.
Humorous for children AND adults.......1999-06-11
My 5 year old son has this book memorized. He laughs everytime he reads it. It has also been very helpful in teaching him the alphabet. It is an especially fun book for us since our pet is a Weimeraner.
As much for grown ups as for children.......1999-01-09
Funny with a different sense of humor. Characters become quickly familiar. My two-year old's favorite (and I don't even like dogs!).
Book Description
Elvis, Bert, Buddha, and Busta are four pure and not-so-purebred pugs living on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. And even though they don’t have a backyard, or even a mailman to chase, they’re enjoying a dog’s life—because they know that no matter how small you are or how funny your face might be, life always has plenty of treats in store.
In this delightful book, Elvis and his coterie of pug friends offer a lesson in the art of PugTherapy—that is, the art of finding joy in life’s simple pleasures, from first kisses to bubble baths. Whether it’s a picnic in the park, a road trip with a friend, or a party dress that sets tails wagging, these everyday delights can chase away the blues and make you feel like Best in Show.
With over thirty winsome photographs accompanied by charming, inspirational text, PugTherapy gives you everything you need to reenter the puppy pageant of life—and find happiness, one pug at a time.

Book Description
Acclaimed animal photographer Sharon Montrose can't resist artfully capturing lovable dogs on film, and few people could resist bringing home her delightful collection of puppies called Lightweights (almost 40,000 copies in print). Now Montrose focuses on two of America's favorite breeds in Labs: Lightweights Littermates and Dachshunds: Lightweights Littermates.
It's easy to see why labs and dachshunds are so beloved. Whether huddled together with their fellow littermates or weighing in on vintage scales, these fluffy, cuddly, wriggly pups pack a lot of adorableness per pound. Dachshunds showcases the delightful "hot dog," both standard and miniature, in long, smooth, and wire-hair varieties. Labs spotlights America's all-time favorite breed in charming photos featuring all three colors: black, yellow, and chocolate. Alongside each super-cute picture is the puppy's name, age, and weight.
A perfect gift for dog lovers of every kind, and for dachshund and lab owners in particular, these volumes of "aww"-inspiring photographs are a sheer delight.
Customer Reviews:
you must get a dachshund after this!.......2006-04-12
I have always loved dachshunds and owned a couple. It is a race you can get addicted on: loads of personality and energy and the funny shape - despite which they are really highly mobile and athletic and strong and brave - and cleverness that can baffle humans. I found this book by accident, opened it - of course - and adored it. There are litters of dachshund puppies, mostly 4-5 weeks old, together and then on individual portraits, each of the puppies on a scale, their name and weight written on the page. And that's all. The scales are of different types and puppies come in smooth- and long-haired variations and several colours, all of them are cute and clearly have their own personality already. Just watch these coy, mischievous, sulking, endearing faces and their round little bums, short legs and long ears! You need to get a living dachshund puppy after these pictures - but watch out: I can tell you from personal experience that a 2-month-old dachshund puppy can wear down two young, healthy, highly fit retrievers and still bounce around yapping "What are you lying there for? I just got started!! Get up and play!!!"
SOOOO CUTE!!!.......2006-02-25
Love the adorable pictures! I have had dachshunds my whole life, and these pictures capture just how precious they are, especially as puppies. I would highly recommend this book if you are a dachsie lover!
Trust me! You can smell puppies's breath!!!!.......2005-12-02
Ok.. i dont need to say much for this adorable cute book!
This book has everything!!! high quality book, great photographs, bright color backgrounds make the book alive! and of course, Dachahund puppies! The photographs are very well taken and trust me!!! you can hear the puppies's "sigh...." , you want to jump into the book and give them kissy and smoochies their bellies......and you can smell puppies's breath!!!!!! at least i do.... great book for all dachshund lovers out there!! worth every penny!
Book Description
In what other book of portraiture will you find a model bio that includes "chases rats and pigeons" followed by "loves filet mignon and créme brûlée"?
Welcome to the dog-centric world of photographer Kim Levin. Nearly a decade ago, Levin began shooting photos of dogs (and occasionally cats) in and around Central Park. What began as a dog-loving photographer's hobby has blossomed into a successful career as a pet portrait artist nonpareil. With nine books of dog photos to her credit and a booming portrait business, Levin has become a virtual Avedon for the pet set.
Pawfiles is filled with portraits by turns charming, touching, and goofy. Each dog's mini-portfolio is accompanied by its stats (age, breed, and home) and a short but revealing "about the model" statement. About Oliver, a 2-year-old English bulldog, we learn of a Beanie Baby obsession. Simone, a 7-year-old poodle, is described as "airhead by day and tramp by night," and Max, a 12-year-old border collie, "enjoys butt rubs"¿but, then, who doesn't?
This hard-to-resist book is sure to elicit the same two-part response from all dog lovers: 1) I need this on my coffee table, and 2) My dog should be in the sequel.
Customer Reviews:
A Popular Coffee Table Book.......2007-01-11
Everyone who picks this book up and flips through it really enjoys it. The photographs combined with the individual profiles of the dogs make for some great entertainment.
This a cute book. Any dog owner or dog lover will like it........2007-01-10
This book contains photos of dogs along with personal information about each dog, such as age, location, likes, dislikes, etc. It is especially cute for other dog owners to read about some of the personality quirks of the dogs in the book. (One dog loves to eat/chew fisher-price farm animals.) I was surprised by how much I enjoyed reading about dogs that I didn't know. This is fun, quick read with great photos.

Customer Reviews:
4 1/2 Almost Every Page Picture Perfect.......2006-09-20
I hate being the curmudgeon here, but this book got one picture wrong. But let's talk about what's right first. You get six two-page spreads here, on the right, an ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE picure of a puppy (or puppies), and on the left, against a vibrantly colored background, a big black word that describes the emotion shown by the dog. So, you "happy" facing a page of 3 smiling (OK
< one of them hasn't quite opened its mouth yet) terriers, the word "naughty" paired with a dog biting a shoe tongue, his or her paws tightly around the heel, and "sleepy" describing what might be a Golden Retriever showing a big tongue-revealing yawn! Now, there's also the word "snuggly" showing two young Labs (?) cuddling, only--one of the labs looks worried! THe other one looks extremely content and is indeed snuggling, but the other pooch is looking off in the distance, as if some food (or another dog!!!) is a distraction. YOur infant won't notice this, of course, but there's a great picture of engaged in mutual snuggling on the back cover--this is the one that should have been used.
The one exception to the format described above is the last 2-page spread, and it's another winner. With the word "family" above them, we see the only photo taking up the entire two pages: It's a mom and dad Spaniel with 9 (nine!) CUTE little Spaniel. This is a fun, sturdy board book for the baby who loves dogs, with all photos by Jane Burton, and published by Simon and Schuster.
Excellent Book!.......2006-04-26
Both of my children LOVED this book at about 9-10 months. They especially liked the naught puppy and the happy puppies. I would shake my finger at the naught one and they quickly learned to do the same. I would make a panting sound for the happy puppies and again, my children quickly learned to imitate the sound. My 10 month old son would actually go get the book, open it up, and start panting. When we lost the book, I had to get another one. Now, my 3.5 year old daughter reads it to her 11 month old brother!
Great for the little ones.......2005-08-02
My 11 month old son LOVES this book. He wants it read to him all the time. (He started this a couple of months ago.) It's simple and cute. His favorite is the photo of the "happy" puppies.
great for our 12 month-old.......2003-01-25
Sturdy cardboard pages so he can't rip them. Simple, brief captions so he doesn't get bored. Nothing flashy, but a 12 month-old doesn't need anything too fancy.

Customer Reviews:
it's a goal.......2007-08-31
this book is a great tool for coaches in youth soccer, qick and easy description with pictures of all the little skills that makes the players and the game grand
A great book for learning how to coach young kids.......2007-04-01
I am a first time coach and knew next to nothing about soccer. This book has been a great help with my under 7 team, most of whom haven't played before. It's focus on fun games based on ball control makes a lot of sense. The kids are really enjoying their training and the other parents are very happy with what we're doing. I also think there's a lot in this book for the experienced coach who hasn't worked with kids this young.
Good Book for New Coaches.......2007-03-21
As a newly recruited soccer coach for a 6-7 year old group, I needed a book that was well organized and gave me the information I needed in a concise way. This book covers the basics from start of the practice season to the end of the game season. The book is short, easy to read and has great insight into the best way to teach this young group--get everyone involved and have fun while the players learn. There are a lot of good suggestions for drills that keep this age group entertained but still allows you to teach. It packs a lot of information into it's small size.
Useful and effective.......2006-08-12
A brand new soccer coach facing six very wild and unruly 6 year-old boys hoping I could teach them the basics of the game of soccer. No easy task. A key concept here is that we need to give very young kids the chance to try new things out, develop their confidence and have fun so they keep coming back - and that this is far more important than winning. This book was a lifesaver my first year. It was rained on, stepped on and dragged in and out of the equipment bag many times during the season. But under all that muck and abuse are some very creative ideas to get the kids engaged while also teaching them basic skills like dribbling, passing and defending. Great book.
A must read for any new soccer coach.......2005-11-21
I love this book. It's easy to read with fun games for the kids to play at practice and good tips on dealing with the parents. Good job David and Scott. It really is all about having fun for the kids at this age.
