Book Description
I have never been a brave mouse... but lately, my fears were taking over my life! Soon I was too afraid even to leave my mousehole. That's when Thea and Trap decided to cure me. They dragged me away on an airplane (I'm afraid of flying!) all the way to the jungle. There I was forced to eat bug soup, climb trees as high as skyscrapers, swim in raging rivers, and even wrangle snakes! How would a 'fraidy mouse like me ever survive?

My 6 year old son LOVES this book!.......2004-11-09
This is a great chapter book. It keeps kids wanting to read more (or have more read to them). My husband and I have read this book MANY times to our son...who giggles each time!
Book Description
Book #4 I'M TOO FOND OF MY FUR!
When my old friend Professor von Volt called to ask for help, I agreed immediately--even though it meant trekking halfway around the world to Mouse Everest! The trip was long and dangerous. I almost froze my tail off along the way. And then I was kidnapped by a yeti! Yes, it was truly an amazing adventure . . .
Book #5 FOUR MICE DEEP IN THE JUNGLE
I have never been a brave mouse . . . but lately, my fears were taking over my life! So Thea and Trap decided to cure me. They dragged me away on an airplane (I'm afraid of flying!) all the way to the jungle. There I was forced to eat bug soup, climb trees as tall as skyscrapers, swim in raging rivers, and even wrangle snakes. How would a 'fraidy mouse like me every survive?
Book #6 PAWS OFF, CHEDDARFACE!
Holey cheese, it was strange! Rodents kept telling me I'd done things I had not memory of. Was I going crazy? Had the cheese finally slipped off my cracker? No, I soon discovered the truth: There was a Geronimo look-a-like going around, pretending to be me! Worst of all, he was trying to take of The Rodent's Gazette! I had to get that greedy impostor's paws off my newspaper, but how?

Lots of fun for the kids!.......2007-09-29
This was a great purchase for the kids. My kids love to listen to the stories in the car or listen to them while they fall asleep at night. Great story telling and fun stories
Delightful!.......2007-05-12
My son who is in the first grade, received his first set of Geronimo Stilton books on c.d. from a friend. We listened to them in the car, and the entire family enjoyed the stories so much that no one was allowed to listen unless we were all present because not even the adults wanted to miss a thing! We purchased the next set of books, which delighted my son with their colorful words and illustrations, mysterious plots and exotic locations. Since then, I think we have bought a total of 28 books in the series, and my only complaint is that I have caught my son reading under his covers at 11:00 o'clock at night! Any material that encourages my children to read in their every waking moment is a winner in my book!

More than for just a coffee table!.......2007-01-17
I watched the PBS program on television and bought this book for my environmental scientist fiance. We both love this book and find it very interesting to flip through. The pictures are marvelous and the content is an easy, yet very informative read.

Deep down in the Jungle where the Cocanuts grow..............2006-01-27
This is an interesting book. Actually, it's more about sociology and folklore than a mere collection of dirty jokes.
Basically, the white folklorist Roger Abrahms spent some time in the late 1950s living in the Philadelphia ghetto. He befriends a number of the locals who are fascinated with his tape recorder (this was when they were new) and proceeded to record their folktales, songs, rhymes, and stories.
To his credit, Abrahms does not patronize his black sources. He also writes about them and their lives with respect in the chapters preceding the tales. But what makes this controversial is that the tales he records are the rough, uncensored kind that black comedians like Redd Foxx, Rudy Ray Moore, and Richard Pryor would not publicly record until a few years later. Many (middle class) African-Americans at the time saw this kind of humor as an embarrassing throwback that would hurt their chances of integrating into mainstream America, thus it was heavily criticized at the time.
But taken as it is, the sometimes bawdy tales like "Shine and the Titanic," "The Signifying Monkey" (the title of the book is the opening stanza from this), "Stagolee", "The Preacher and the Bull," etc. were street folk tales that were told for years in Black communities. Previous folklorists such as Langston Hughes tended to clean them up for public consumption. But the fact that these tales were told in the streets for so many years is proof that for better or worse, what we now know as "Gangsta Rap" is nothing new.
Incidentally, the story of Roger Abrahms's experiences getting these tales in the Philadelphia ghetto and the initial controversy behind this book would make an interesting movie.
One of the Seminal Texts of Dirty Jokes as Literature.......2000-05-19
Originally written as a Doctoral Dissertation at the University of Pennsylvania, Abrahams' work is one of the 5 or 6 leading books on dirty jokes as folklore/literature. His commentary isn't as deep or as amusing as Gershon Legman's work in No Laughing Matter or the Vance Randolph commentary in Pissing in the Snow or Blow Out the Candle, but it is well worth reading anyway. With the fascism inherent in the political correctness movement, these books are a wonderful, but safe, way of enjoying filthy, smutty ethnic humor without being attacked as a sexist or racist. Not just that, they're damned funny too.
The first book on Toasts (Afro-American oral folk poetry)..........1999-06-11
The first book to write about Toasts (Afro-American oral folk poetry). It is the foundation from which you should start in researching Toasts. An excellent, entertaining, book.
