Book Description
Written with equal parts wit and wisdom, this humorous guide catalogs the shameless lies found in daily life, paying particular attention to the most common falsehood-filled occasions, such as business negotiations, job interviews, used car shopping, and confrontations with kids over alleged keg parties. The discussion covers identifying characteristics of liars, including unique gender differences, verbal slips and physical tics, and evidence of confused thinking. Sidebars called TipBits offer expert advice and cite scientific and historical facts about conning and swindling, while the conclusion explores the effectiveness of both ancient and modern technological solutions for busting liars and provides even more proven methods for detecting.

I RARELY BOTHER TO REVIEW BOOKS.......2007-04-10
....but in this case, I'm making an exception as this is an exceptionally bad piece of "literature." The jokes are lame, the illustrations are middleschool quality and the actual content is not even fit for a 24 stopover anywhere in any middle eastern country. If you're at all interested in this subject, stick to Dr. Lieberman's book and you won't be dissatisfied. I can't understand why he, of all people, would put a stamp of approval on such a waste of good paper, though.
Highly recommended........2006-12-10
You Won't Get Fooled Again: More Then 101 Brilliant Ways to Bust and Bald-Faced Liar (Even if the Liar is Lying Beside You) features a side-splitting humorous twist to its very practical list of strategies to discern how to tell when someone is lying to you. From the importance of observing "baseline" behavior (how people normally act) in order to better pick up on any telltale variations, to common body language indications of dishonesty such as fidgeting, touching the nose, or closing hands/interlocking fingers, to sardonic tips for improving one's own lying skills (such as making as little contact as possible with the target so that he/she is unaware of your own baseline behavior), You Won't Get Fooled Again! is a hilariously welcome and useful guide to honing one's personal BS detector. Highly recommended.

Memories!.......2006-02-16
I really liked the memories!Buggy and Shanks,Yasopp and Luffy 10 years ago,I was able to finish it in 1 day!!That's impresive! But,why is the Yasopp memory so short?I hate that!!!
Buggy's end and it's time for Usopp.......2005-07-01
Yes, this one was a great volume! This one will make laugh, laugh, and laugh some more! This also has great action and a new character! Shank's and Buggy's past is discovered! To find out more go and get it!
The end of Buggy, the beginning of Ussop.......2004-12-03
"Don't Get Fooled Again" is the 3rd volume in the US release of Japanese super-comic "One Piece." Probably the most popular comic in modern Japan, One Piece is a funny pirate adventure, with a long, long story arc and a large cast.
This volume finishes up the Buggy the Clown storyline that started in volume 1. There is some more background on "Red-Haired" Shanks, Monkey D. Luffy's pirate mentor and hero, as well as the induction of Nami the Thief into the crew. There is a brief single story, featuring a man trapped on an island of treasure chests, before heading into the next story arc of Ussop the Liar. Ussop is a great character, the son of a pirate who served under "Red-Haired" Shanks, and fancies himself a challenger to Luffy's captainship.
It is a bit unsatisfying, as you have both the end of one story arc and the beginning of another in volume 3, but the story lines were not designed for this format, and do not easily fit into it, so some spillage is expected. That aside, if you are buying volume 3 then you will be buying volume 4 anyways, right?
great manga.......2004-10-18
This is the best selling manga in japan for a reason and that reason is... its really really good. Dont judge it by the anime on foxbox the manga is not so kiddish dont get me wrong its not adult its just not completly censord. Well anyways about the manga it has a likeable cast of charachters each unique in his or her own way but i wont tell you how you have to read it for yourself. Definetly start with volume 1 you will enjoy the seiries much more.
And then there where 4........2004-05-27
Okay, of the main characters in One Piece, we've met Monkey D. Luffy, a person who has the goal of being the greatest pirate in the world, Roronoa Zoro, who wants to fulfill a promise he made with a childhood friend, and Nami, a thief who from what we can tell suffered some great tragedy at the hands of pirates. In this volume we meet the fourth main character, Usopp, who has a reputation for being a liar but aside from that is actually a good guy. However, I'm getting ahead of myself. This volume opens with the conclusion of the Buggy arc that began in the first book, as Luffy and Buggy finally square off, and it definitely has to be seen to believed. Afterwards, we have a brief short story where Luffy and Nami encounter a guy who's trapped in a box, and as a result can't get to some treasure chests on top of a cliff, so they decide to help him out. Next we begin the Kuro arc. As said before, Usopp is introduced here, and Luffy remembers that Usopp's father is a member of his idol Shanks's crew. Luffy also learns that Usopps spends time telling tall tales to a sickly girl named Miss Kaya, which is the only thing that entertains her. However, he's at odds with her butler Khaladore. However, as it turns out, Khaladore is hiding a dark secret, one that will endanger everyone's lives. It turns out--- well, I can't spoil anything more. Anyway, this is a good book. What I like about One Piece is how good the characterization is, and the new volume is no exception. Even the villains have some motivations for their actions. I recommend One Piece, and I thank Viz for releasing this into the states at last.
Book Description
For Republicans, the 2004 presidential election was little short of miraculous: Behind in the Electoral College tally in the days leading up to the election, behind even on the very afternoon of the vote, the Bush ticket staged a stunning comeback. The exit polls, usually so reliable, turned out to be wrong by an unprecedented 5 percent in the swing states. Conservatives argued-and the media agreed-that "moral values" had made the difference.
In his new book renowned critic and political commentator Mark Crispin Miller argues that it wasn't moral values that swung the election-it was theft. While the greatest body of evidence comes from the key state of Ohio-where the Democratic staff of the House Judiciary Committee found an extraordinary onslaught of Republican-engineered vote suppression, election-day irregularities, old-fashioned intimidation tactics, and illegal counting procedures-similar practices (and occasionally worse ones) were applied in Florida, Oregon, Pennsylvania, New Mexico, Nevada, Arizona, and even New York. A huge array of anomalies, improper practices, and blatant violations of the law all, by a truly remarkable coincidence, happened to swing in the Bush ticket's favor.
This pattern-not one overwhelming fraud but thousands of little ones-is, in Miller's view, the new Republican electoral strategy. This incendiary new book presents massive documentation that the election was stolen and describes the mind-set, among both the major parties and the media, that could permit it to happen again.
Customer Reviews:
Excellent, But Beware the Diatribes..........2007-10-07
Mark Crispin Miller's 'Fooled Again' is a notable and worthwhile read when he sticks to the facts of the 2004 elections and the widespread problems encountered by voters in Ohio and elsewhere. Crispin's thesis, that voter suppression was practiced routinely by the Republican Party in 2004 and perhaps earlier, is documented compellingly and informatively in 'Fooled Again'.
That said, Miller periodically descends into shrill denunciations of the GOP and the Bush Administration that undercut the effectiveness of his narrative. Had the diatribes been cut, 'Fooled Again' would be a stronger read.
Bottom line: worthy of your time, but skip the portions heavy on rhetoric.
Tip: For another, extremely worthwhile, look at the 2004 election, try "Was the 2004 Election Stolen?" by Freedman and Bleifus.
geeb us a brek.......2007-09-20
I found it partisan, disingenuous at times, really depressing and with a tendency to frost the cake when making accusations. Felt similar to listening to a liberal version of Rush Limbaugh.
No-o-o Sur priz ez Heerre!!!!!!.......2007-08-01
With moves straight outta reconstruction hell, our home grown band of respectable national thugs and their sycophants have wrested control of the estate and are preparing to do so for a long period of time. The investigative prof has researched and pulled information from a wide variety of resources including Congressman Conyers report, to expose the scourge. Apparently these folk were prepared, organized, well monied and before the opposing parties knew what happened the nouveaux reconstructionist were off and running, planning and capturing the next election. The grand theft of two elections unfolded in various ways in various locales but it was nation wide. Paid gangs were sent outta Texas to harass and control the population, the motor voter bill was made impotent by the trashing of paper work from legit signees, expatriates paperwork never arrived, on college campuses students were led to believe they were supporting a cause but actually were signed up for the party, or not at all in some cases, voting machines logged in the wrong candidates, along with countless other improprieties and crimes, the list of which would exceed your average report...the madness didn't stop with the pawned...the fourth estate sat by and did nothing while the benefiting corporations made millions calling in political favors, the result of which set the estate back approximately 200 years or maybe further say.... back to the crusades? ....No wonder Mr. Franken has so much fodder for his work...Whatta civics lesson...
Guess who's fooled!.......2006-11-26
Given the long history of election fraud by the (Anti)Democratic party (think of Mayor Daley's Chicago in the 1960 Presidential election), the very idea of Republican vote fraud seems like an oxymoron. If the premise of this book were true, the results of the November 2006 election would never have happened. (Note the dates on the other reviews.) If you want to see a really screwed up election, check out what happened in all-Democrat Denver last November. No Republicans there to play around with with the votes!
This book is yet another entry in the left-wing fear-mongering category. It's remarkable to see those who fight against the democratic process of public policy-making, who routinely seek to overturn legislative decisions and referenda in the courts, turn around and try to convince people that the other side is undermining our democracy. This book belongs in the fiction department.
You don't have to go far in the book to find the falsehoods. They start on the second page of the preface! There you read that Kerry made a "swift concession" in 2004. That was after he kept everyone up all night and well into the next morning, while he consulted with his team of lawyers about making a mockery of this country again. Maybe the author meant to say a "swiftboat" concession. On the third page of the preface you learn of the "lies and delusions the Bush & Co. has(sic) flogged." The author is not only guilty of poor grammer right off the bat, he also lacks a good dictionary, since the list that follows doesn't contain any lies and it's hard to find a delusion in a quote taken out of context. This rant includes an accusation about Karl Rove and Valerie Plame, which has been proven totally false since publication. And so it goes from there on.
Better get that revised edition out there! (I know - this tract is already forgotten.) The only people being fooled are those that believe this stuff.
"Let us march against Bush, the corporate media, and the complacent Democrats".......2006-08-26
Mark Crispin Miller's eye-opening FOOLED AGAIN is not a book to enjoy and then lend to a neighbor. Rather, FOOLED AGAIN is a call to action. When Aeschines spoke, they said, "How well he speaks." But when Demosthenes spoke, they said, "Let us march against Philip."
Bush Republicans stole the presidential votes of 2000 and 2004 as well as other recent elections where Republicans had "upset" wins, as the exhaustively researched FOOLED AGAIN documents. The corporate media, beholden to Bush for relaxed FCC regulations as well as corporate tax breaks, chose not to report it. And the Democrats, who belong to the same country clubs as the Republicans, send their children to the same private schools, and accept the same corporate campaign contributions, shrugged their shoulders, as it's all in the family anyway.
Please don't leave Mark Crispin Miller's FOOLED AGAIN at, "That was a good book." Take it as your marching orders. As I write this on August 25, 2006, the good people of Mexico are in the streets, marching against the Mexican power elite that is trying to steal that country's presidential election. The United States may require the same level of citizen participation before we can once again believe vote counts. It's up to you - and that means now.
Book Description
Thousands of people every year are fooled into investing in companies that turn out to be downright criminal. We've seen it happen; It may even have happened to you. But it doesn't have to. In almost every case of major corporate fraud over the last century, sharp-eyed investors could have picked out warning signs and exited before the crash.
The basic techniques of corporate fraud have changed little over time. The danger signs that cropped up around Charles Ponzi's international postage stamp scheme in the 1920s and Stanley Goldblum's insurance company in the 1940s are the same as those at Enron, Tyco, and WorldCom.
Investors have fallen for the same bag of tricks again and again, despite the fact that every business rogue leaves tracks in the sand.
The Forewarned Investor is the first book to show you how to identify the next Enron or the next WorldCom. Don't get fooled again!

This book changed the way I invest. It is a must read before putting your money on the line!
Jim Cramer's Right. You should read this........2006-06-18
Jim Cramer gets it right. This book is one of most valuable I have ever read in terms of helping me invest my money -- and I've read alot. It teaches the reader what to look for to make sure they are investing in good sound companies and not the Enron's of the world. It is one thing to find an exciting stock, it is another to have the confidence to know that you aren't getting swindled. This book gave me that confidence.
Interesting, Informative Read.......2006-06-15
A great read going through the last 100+ years of corporate fraudsters. The authors really make history and the characters come alive through their storytelling. They also bring out amazing parallels among the frauds and show how people could have spotted the dangers before they lost everything. Good lessons to know and to keep in mind for the future. A great book.

Shout It Out Loud! ... You Got the Best with "Won't Get Fooled Again"!.......2005-08-03
Colette Shaw's Won't Get Fooled Again had me hooked from the first page and kept me going to the last. Shaw makes what, on the surface, looks implausible very genuine. She weaves a tale that is at times heart wrenching and always heart-felt. Though women readers may readily identify with the spirited, vulnerable Suzanne, men too should find this story of strong-willed adversaries, shady pasts and plenty of intrigue equally engaging.
What a great read!.......2005-07-27
This has been the most fun book of summer 2005 for me. I was hooked from the first page, and I didn't know what was going to happen until the last -- the two signs of a good book, in my opinion. I think every woman can identify in some way with Suzanne -- a sharp professional with a sometimes unconventional personal life. After all, don't we all have different sides?! Try this one for fun. You won't regret it.
Left me wanting more! Enjoyed every yummy minute of this one..........2005-07-27
This is an inspirational story that encourages us to be true to our selves and have the courage to follow our dreams--no matter how unlikely they may seem.
Our heroine secretly (but deliciously) lives out her fantasy double life in this story of complex corporate life and romance--with a rock n roll twist.
Cleverly written, this book keeps the intellect intrigued while the developing romance between Suzanne and a "not so straight-laced" character will steal your heart!
Absolutely excellent! I can't wait for another!
Calling all strong, single women...........2005-07-25
Colette Shaw's Won't Get Fooled Again is a pleasure to read! The line between personal and professional interests is questioned and conflicted and I won't divulge its secrets...You'll have to pick it up! It is a well written novel with eye-widening surprises in the plot. Keeps the reader turning the pages. And if the reader is female, single and career oriented, it hits even closer to home. I recommend it as a smart, sexy, cheer-for-the-heroine ride!
This Book ROCKS!!!.......2005-07-24
As someone who works in the coporate world I can totally relate to the character. By day, three piece suites, meeting, deadlines etc. Otherwise, Kiss T's, jeans, leather, lace and diving right into the rock and roll world!! I HIGH recommend this book!!!

Book Description
Nature takes a surprising turn in the heart of Texas. The flat Gulf Coastal Plains, which become the fertile Blackland Prairies in Central Texas, end abruptly at the Balcones Escarpment, one of the state's most dramatic geological features, and the rolling, more sparsely vegetated Hill Country begins. The animal life varies as dramatically as the land. More than 400 species of birds alone, nearly three-fourths of all Texas birds, can be spotted in the region. This handbook offers a concise natural history of Central Texas and a complete checklist of all native and naturalized vertebrate animals, including birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and fish, as well as invertebrates that include butterflies and land snails. The listings cite both scientific and common names for each species, relative abundance in the region, and preferred habitats. A distinguishing feature of the handbook is its list of parks and recreational areas in the region, which includes the counties of Bastrop, Bell, Bexar, Blanco, Burleson, Burnet, Caldwell, Comal, Fayette, Gillespie, Gonzales, Guadalupe, Hays, Kendall, Lee, Llano, Milam, Travis, and Williamson. The authors describe the recreational facilities available in each park and list the animal species likely to be encountered there. For birdwatchers, naturalists, visitors, and residents alike, this popular handbook will be the essential "where-to-find-it" reference.

Great Book for a Great Part of Texas.......2003-04-18
Having lived a great part of my life in South Central Texas, I was very happy to stumble upon Birds & Other Wildlife of South Central Texas by Edward A Kutac.
Kutac used extensive research and has drawn from many sources.
Although it might not be everyone's idea of excitement, it is inclusive and goes the extra mile.
