Book Description
In the spring of 1970, artist Ralph Steadman went to America in search of work and found more than he bargained for. At the Kentucky Derby he met a former
associate of the Hell’s Angels, one Hunter S. Thompson. Their working relationship resulted in the now-legendary Gonzo Journalism.
The Joke’s Over tells of a remarkable collaboration that documented the turbulent years of the civil rights movement, the Nixon years, Watergate, and the many bizarre and great events that shaped the second half of the twentieth century. When Thompson committed suicide in 2005, it was the end of a unique friendship filled with both betrayal and understanding.
A rollicking, no-holds-barred memoir, The Joke’s Over is the definitive inside story of the Gonzo years.

Steadman + Thompson = Fun For All!!!.......2007-10-02
Having been an HST fan for decades now, this book combines many elements
that make this duo a must have for Thompson fans of all levels;think about it: You have the Gonzo genius of Hunter S. Thompson, and the illustrator
of these 'Adventures' not from HST, but the same incidents as viewed by the
one man fortunate(?) enough to go the distance to cover the story. A unique
twist on the escapades of Dr. Gonzo. These two men shared much more than
two people using their collective genius for journalistic purposes;these men
almost seemed(to me) to need each other, and their collective talents to such a bizarre level that these guys in many ways became so influential to more than just a journalistic quest-a pairing so unique that such a combination in all probability will never happen again(unless it
came down to absolute 'ripping off' of the style they created. This book
should be a 'must have' for anyone intelligent enough to see what was really going on. After reading this book, one can finally comprehend
'When the going gets tough, the weird turn pro'. The good Doctor will be sorely missed, but thankfully Ralph Steadman is still around to carry the torch in some way. The world lost a true genius, but the one redeeming
factor is that now the metaphysical has a monster to deal with, and I think HST will derive great pleasure in that!! BUY THIS BOOK;YOU CANNOT
BE DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!!!
Better than an unauthorized biography........2007-09-11
Mr. Steadman tells it like it is, even when there is obvious animosity between himself and HST. Some great pictures I hadn't seen before, although I wish they had been reproduced full page size. The stories are good and give some interesting insight into (attempting) to work with HST. Overall a good read, if you're a fan of either of the men you will enjoy this book and be glad it is in your personal library. To no fault of Mr. Steadman, reading this book did bum me out a bit that we have no more new HST work to read ever again. I still remember turning on the news that fateful February morning...
A good book that ultimately becomes just a little annoying.......2007-07-12
Ralph Steadman paints a very interesting portrait of his long-time colleague and collaborator, HST, warts and all. The book is for the most part an enjoyable and interesting read, and I would tend to put more stock in Ralph's biography versus those written by any others given the nature of their relationship. However, in some places the book seems a little disjointed. In the end, I found myself growing annoyed with Ralph's writing style (which comes off a bit like "trying too hard" and merely a cheap imitation of Hunter's unmatched skill) as well as his description of Hunter's faults, which start to sound a little too much like whining.
Intimate and revealing.......2007-05-14
Thompson's life is difficult to seperate from his gonzo essa, and is often viewed as fiction. Steadman's retelling of their turbulent friendship clears away a great deal of the confusion about this brilliant and difficult icon; twenty-five years of alternating conflict and cameraderie allows a more human and focused view of an explosive and unique man. In the end Thompson's mythical persona is enhanced rather than diminished by the humanizing and honest eye of Ralph Steadman, illustrating the reality of trying to mainttain a friendship with the perverse and explosive Thompson. He does Thompson the honor of addressing him honestly; sugar coating his memory would be an unforgivable offense in the Doctor's own books.
good times.......2007-05-09
Great book!! Nice to hear from Steadman. I'm almost 50 and have been a fan of Ralph's and the good doctor since I'm 13. Painfull at times to read laugh out loud funny at otherrs. Thanks Mr. Steadman for showing me this side of HST and yourself. Jo Sullivan

A breed of woman once existed who made their lives by marrying powerful men and polishing themselves to patrician perfection. These women would not think twice about traveling around the world with Truman Capote or going shooting with Ernest Hemingway. Slim Keith was one of the most successful of these women, and she'll charm your pants off with this book. Be careful. Howard Hawks and Leland Hayward couldn't resist her. What makes you think YOU can?

not as alluring as thought.......2006-09-04
Slim Keith's name comes up in so many memoirs and biographies and it's a pleasure to finally know more about her.
She must have had an alluring personality to affect so many people however this does not come across in her memoirs. Instead she seems like a rather shallow, calculating and self-serving personality.
She does not have an original voice as say Talullah Bankhead does in her memoirs however there must have been something about her that is not successfully conveyed in this book as so many people were capitivated by her.
In a way one can't judge her too harshly, as the male dominated society held back most ambitious women who then tried to fulfill their ambitions through the men in their lives.
If you are curious about her, it's definately worth buying just to learn more however don't be surprised if she disappoints you.
Slim Keith is a class act!.......2003-08-15
I found this book wandering through my local library and what a find! Iwas thrilled to be able to order it through AMAZON. Slim Keith is an American original and one of my all-time favorites. Along with Claire Booth Luce and Lady Diana (Mrs. Duff) Cooper she was a beautiful blonde that was graced with extraordinary intelligence and a scathing wit. They just don't make them like they used to.

I wish I could have met Slim!.......2002-02-26
I am throughly disgusted with the previous review. Apparently we did not read the same book. The Slim I read about was fasinating and self-depracating. She was a great broad - a terrific friend with wonderful self-knowledge and zest for life. She never wanted to be the next margaret mead or sandra o'connor. And why should she have to be? Her life was so interesting and the way she tells it - you wanted to be there - be one of her friends. Also, I did not realize Hemingway was washed up when he wrote "The Old Man and the Sea" and Capote finished when he penned "In Cold Blood" - both manuscripts handed over to their dear friend - Slim - to look over! What was the reviewer expecting?? If you can obtain this book - do it - and you will be throughly entertained. It's a book you can go back to time and time again.
A not-so-rich life..........2002-01-07
Your tolerance for this book will be determined by whether or not you find it entirely retrograde, as I did. Slim Keith was a society woman who never had a job, never did a stroke of work, and specialized in famous and/or rich husbands.
The first was Howard Hawks. He had a wife in the madhouse, three children, and was much older than her. But he was rich, famous, and had an interesting life, so Slim moved in with him. Keith has little good to say about him, but one guesses that the people that she slags may also have some negative things to say about her. She states that she cut their daughter off from him deliberately, after their marriage ended, and doesn't appear ashamed of it.
Husband #2 was Leland Hayward, agent extraordinaire. He had a wife who was periodically crazy (Margaret Sullavan), three children (also periodically crazy) and was considerably older. He was also a producer, and was wealthy with an interesting life. Slim turns into a predator again, big surprise.
At this point, a very interesting thing happens: Slim's second husband encounters another predator, one much tougher and ruthless than she: Pamela Digby Churchill Hayward Harriman. And he leaves Slim for Pamela, to Slim's (in the past, she'd done the husband-poaching) pained surprise. Slim's shock is profound. If you believe her, she didn't deserve this treatment. However, if you consult Sally Bedell Smith's bio of Pamela Harriman, you discover that Slim had an affair during her marriage to Hayward and told him about it. She was also bored with him and had taken to insulting him in public.
Husband #3 is Lord Keith. All he has to offer is money (no fame, and no interesting life) but then the bereft Slim is getting older.
In between, we get accounts of Capote and Hemingway (signifigantly, though they are washed up by the time they start consorting with the likes of Slim).
When Slim's marriage to #3 ends, so does her book. She appears to feel we are only interested in her famous or rich husbands. The last 20 years of her life aren't covered at all. How did she manage alone? Did she ever conclude that she'd wasted her life? We don't know, and she won't tell us. She is almost pathetically anxious to prove that she is intelligent, and if she were born today she would have done something herself instead of leaching on the fame of others.

Until now, Lottie Cook and her best friend, Lewis Weaver, have lived fairly normal lives in Iowa. But when Lottie's father carves for her a magical box from an old cherry tree, she and Lewis are transported to LightLand, a fantasy world created by the memories of real-world people. The wicked NightKing rules over LightLand, determined to destroy its citizens by stealing their memories. Soon, Lottie and Lewis are leading the struggle to overcome the NightKing, during which they must confront some painful memories of their own and find the strength to endure the

Reminiscent of Madeline L'Engle.......2007-08-23
Excellent writing reminiscent of Madeline L'Engle, but not in the same league as A Wrinkle in Time. This book would be better for older ages as some of the language is a bit abstract. I wished the area of Lightland was more substantial as there doesn't seem to be a lot going on there. Not a thrilling journey, but still pretty good writing.
AWESOME!!! This is the best book in the world!!!.......2007-05-05
This book is on of the most amazing books i've ever read!!!!!! It is the BEST!!!! It's fantasy, which i love, but it has some different plot ideas than most fantasy! it raises some interesting questions and ideas about memories, and how important they are to us. I've read this book about ten times!!!!! The characters are wonderful!! Lottie is so likable and Lewis is one of the most fascinating characters i've read about in any book, ever! and i've read a lot of books! The plot is quick moving, interesting and suspensful. The whole thing is extraordinarily well written!!!!! I could write pages and pages about this book, but i really only need three words: IT IS AWESOME!!! I would recommend it to absolutely anyone!!! Also, my mom is the author, but that's completely irrelevant.
Lightland.......2006-07-26
I could write a whole review, but i only need one word...AWESOME! I loved it and couldn't put it down!
GREAT book!.......2004-11-06
This is my favorite book ever! I have read it five times already and am likely to read it much more! If you like fantasy books with a little magic and lots of excitement, this is a book for you! The main characters are exotic, interesting and keep the readers on their toes. I'd definitely suggest this book!
charming and tantalizing.......2002-11-24
Magical dorms in England? Who needs 'em. McCutchen gives us the down-home American farmland specificity of Iowa, very firmly rooted in time and space and a jumping-off point for a fine children's fantasy that will capture adults too. Perfectly paced, Lottie and Lewis's forays into Lightland left me wanting more; perhaps in what will hopefully be Lightland's sequel(s?) we will find out: what happened when Lottie's father and Ms. d'Avignon went to Lightland as youngsters? Are the memories they created still there? Will Lottie and her father ever go there and maybe, just maybe, will Lottie get to meet her mother? And most sinister of all, is the Nightking REALLY gone? (and for the romantics among us, is Lottie going to get a new mom, one who's really cool?????)
One of the things I loved most about this book was the emphasis that memories make a person. Some cultures can recite lineages back thousands of years--in America we seem to have amnesia about who we are and the people we came from. So enjoy this book. But to really learn something from it, to carry on the spirit of it, this holiday season sit down next to that deaf old relative of yours that you usually ignore and ask them about their memories. And maybe tape them, or write them down. Why not? Then when your kids ask YOU.....you'll have memories too.

Our Mickey: Cherished Book.......2005-08-03
I am a huge Yankee fan and I have read a lot of books about them including some about Mickey Mantle. Out of all the books about the Mick this is my favorite.
Bill Liederman and Maury Allen have created a different perspective about Mantle by not telling about his life and career but letting his freinds and other famous people who knew Mickey best, write a paragraph about experiences with him. It shows the real Mickey Mantle and some of the funny and great things he did.
The book is divided in four categories; Mickey as a Yankee and Teamate, Mickey as Legend, Mickey as Personality, and Mickey as a Ballplayer. The book has people such as Whitey Ford, Willie Mays, Billy Chrystal, Joe Torre, Donald Trump, Regis Philbin, and more.
I loved reading this book and I recommend it to not just a Yankee fan but any baseball fan or someone who lived during his career and remember him.
A 4-bagger.......2004-04-19
First, I am not a Yankees fan, but they have had some great players over the years and Mantle is, arguably, one of the best, and I have always admired his considerable talent. Everyone knows his statistics and how he liked to party, but I was looking for some insights into the man, and this book delivered. The book is a series of reminiscences by teammates, opponents, writers, friends and people whose lives were touched in some way by Mantle. Some are funny, some are poignant, but all of them together give a picture of the man. If you enjoy reading about the person behind the legend, and how he was perceived by others who knew him, then you'll enjoy this book. It's a good read and I recommend it heartily.
Congratulations.......2004-04-13
Well done! I remember when you two were kicking around the idea of a Mickey Mantle book. Congratulations on all your great ideas coming to fruition. You two make an excellent team. Good luck, I hope you sell them all! I look forward to your next collaboration.
A fresh take on the legend of the Mick.......2004-03-31
There are lots of Mickey Mantle books out there, but I've never seen another like this. Anecdotes about Mickey from friends, teammates, and notable fans whose lives he touched. It's a fun, fast read as each story gives you a new perspective on one of the most colorful Yankees of all time. Unlike the standard-issue biographies out there, this book reads like a series of quick conversations and it is fascinating and entertaining to hear from such diverse names as Yogi Berra, David Halberstam, Regis Philbin, and Willie Mays. I learned a lot that I didn't know about Mickey, and I highly recommend this for you other Yankee fans out there.

Peedie is a small yellow gosling who sometimes forgets things. But he never forgets to wear his lucky red baseball cap. He wears it everywhere. Until he puts it in a secret place.

My son absolutely loves this book especially the end where Peedie finds his lucky red baseball cap again. He now has a lucky red baseball cap of his own like Peedie.
Peedie.......2007-07-06
My 6 month old daughter loves Peedie. She gets so excited when she sees the simple white cover with yellow Peedie and his special red hat. The pages are nice and simple and the story is also nice and short which should fare well for the upcoming toddler attention span! I am looking forward to picking up the rest of the Gossie and Friends books for her enjoyment.
More of Gossie!.......2006-07-10
Right from the first two books about Gossie, my grandson and I were taken by Olivier Dunrea's books. They are colorful and uncluttered with simple honest lessons for little ones about sharing with friends and how no one is perfect. Peedie with his little red hat is no exception. I was able to read it to my grandson through our web cams and the pictures showed up beautifully.
Adorable book.......2005-10-19
This is the cutest book. The story is short and very simple. Each page has only one or two short sentences which will keep a small child from becoming too restless. If I read this book to my daughter I can usually count on reading it two or three times because whenever the story is over she says "more, more". It is such a cute story I don't mind reading it a few times. I am planning on buying a couple other books by the same author.
cute.......2005-06-07
Peedie is a small yellow gosling that can be very forgetful. One thing that always remembers though is to wear his favorite red hat. One day he misplaces it. Peedie looks everywhere for his hat. He finds it finally in a very unsual place
the book is small in size making it easy for toddlers to hold and turn the pages. Each page has only one sentence making this easy to read to little ones who have short attention spans. The pictures of various animals will be enjoyed by children of all ages.
I would recommend this book to parents and caregivers of children ages birth to 3. The story is very simple and is one that kids will enjoy hearing over and over again.

Quick Scrapbooking Ideas for Gifts.......2006-11-16
The book shows a good variety of theme and specialty scrapbooks suitable for gift giving. Techniques include mini-albums, flip calendars, and other novel ways to document an event or honor an individual. Being new to scrapbooking, some of the instructions were too brief for me and didn't always clarify terms or show detailed enough examples.
Still there are plenty of ideas to be gained. Each page shows two or three colorful album pages.
Don't judge a book by its cover..........2004-12-21
I bought this off of Amazon without getting a chance to actually look inside of it first, so I was going by 1) other reviews, 2) the description and 3) the cover. After looking over all of these, it sounded like the book might have some interesting, fresh, "funky" ideas for gift books. So I ordered it. When I got it, though, I was quite disappointed. It DOES have some fresh ideas... *some*. There is one chapter that contains these, but most of the book consists of what I think to be rather typical scrapbooking. Nothing wrong with that, if that's your thing... but it isn't mine, and everything I saw really led me to expect something more interesting. I guess I should have expected a typical scrapbook book, since it is from Memory Makers. I have a few issues of their magazine, and the items featured in that are a lot more interesting that most of what I saw in this book.
Still not a book I mind owning, but not what I expected. I might have paid $4 or $5 for this used, but I would never have paid this price for it new had I actually seen the inside first.
So, buyer beware... if you're into fresh, funky, vibrant, altered sorts of art... the cover is a bit deceiving, and this book may not be for you. Get a look at it, at a library or a bookstore, before you buy!

A must have for those who prefer to give personal gifts.......2004-06-13
There is nothing more appreciated than a gift from the heart, and making a keepsake scrapbook for a family member, friend, or really just about anyone who touches your life is a gift that will be treasured.
MAKING GIFT SCRAPBOOKS IN A SNAP is an indispensable book for ideas for small themed scrapbooks and for techniques (which many experienced scrappers will probably already know about) to include on the pages. However, for someone crunched for time, or a simple scrapper like myself, having step-by-step instructions to follow is exactly what is needed.
Some ideas included in the book are: year-in-review, bridal shower/wedding, timeline (i.e. for a pregnancy or baby's first year), family history, calendar of events, memorial, ABC albums, children's storybooks, altered books, and a brag book; but really, this is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of themes presented.
With 20 projects included and an additional 50 album ideas to inspire you, you will never be at a loss for ideas to show those close to you how much you care.
A basic guide to creating quick little scrapboook albums.......2004-05-29
Three and a half stars for a job adequately done.
The title of this book brought up all sorts of expectations for me: yes, I know, you'd think I'd learn by now, huh? Well, when "gift", "scrapbook" and "In a snap" are in the same sentence, my mind makes connections before I know it. These expectations were:
1. The book would focus on small scale scrapbooks (smaller than 8&1/2 by 11) suitable for gifting
2. I would learn how to plan such an album from start to finish
3. The author would teach ways to organize my time so that I could finish the album quickly
4. The book would thoroughly picture some examples of complete gift scrapbooks and/or layout plans, from the first page to the end.
5. I would be shown both how to complete a variety of ready-made albums and also how to make our own albums from scratch
6. The layouts featured inside would be the same kind of high-quality, cutting-edge styles found in Memory Makers magazine
I'd say most of these expectations were fulfilled. I did learn a lot about how to plan my gift scrapbook before I started, tips on how to unify the look of the album and how to cut down on unnecessary materials so that I could work quickly. There were some cute mini album projects detailed in the last section which are to be made from scratch. There were a lot of ideas for theme albums that I wouldn't have thought of on my own, but which I will use to make great gifts for my family and friends in the years to come. I really wasn't surprised that the looks of the scrapbooks that author Pam Klassen used to illustrate these methods were on the simple side-it makes sense that simpler means faster. Not a collage style clutter in the bunch (which suits my style perfectly).
The two that weren't fulfilled do bother me a bit, though. Numbers 4 and 6 just didn't come through for me. We see a few object lessons illustrated with more than one page from an album, but never the whole thing: I wanted to see how a gift album should flow from start to finish. It's one thing to read about it, quite another to see the pictures. At the very least I thought there should have been some flow charts or diagrams to guide me in the final organization; I wouldn't have to follow them slavishly, but they would have helped me with the "big picture" much more than just text. This is a visual medium, after all.
My opinion about that last one, number 6, is based on having read most of the other books that Memory Makers has ever produced. I am familiar with their publications, which usually have at least a few layouts that "wow" me and many more that make impressions on my own layouts long after I am done reading. Making Gift Scrapbooks in a Snap had some nice but unimpressive layouts compared to those other books. I just didn't come away inspired. As any scrapbooker knows, that's half the reason to buy these books!
So, this is a good solid guide to the basic concept of making quick gift scrapbooks. I suspect that beginning scrapbookers will be the ones to get the most out of this, while the more advanced album crafters will be wanting a little more.
-Andrea, aka Merribelle.
Book Description
In the ten years since Princess Diana’s shocking and tragic death in 1997, her hold on the world’s imagination has only increased. For The People’s Princess, Larry King asked many people who knew Diana, some officially and some more personally, for their favorite memories.
Sir Richard Branson recalls Diana sitting in the cockpit of one of his private planes with baby Prince William on her lap; as they flew past Windsor Castle she announced, “On our right you have Grandma’s house!” Heather Mills, who, like Diana, has been a tireless campaigner for charitable causes, recalls Diana’s work to eradicate the scourge of land mines, as well as the time she was photographed shaking hands with an AIDS patient in a London hospital, doing so much to counteract the stigma associated with the disease at the time. British radio and television personality Chris Tarrant recalls how clearly nervous he was upon meeting Diana for the first time, and how she put him at ease with an incredibly rude joke about Kermit the Frog. Photographer Tim Graham remembers Diana lying on the floor with baby William in order to coax a smile from the young prince. And her chief bodyguard recalls how happy and at peace she seemed on the day he agreed to her simple request: to be allowed to walk, truly alone for once, along a beautiful, deserted beach.
Some of these recollections are warm and intimate, celebrating Diana for her ability to make a human connection with everyone she met, others are perceptive and revealing, even about Diana’s human failings and frailties. Together, they coalesce into a multifaceted portrait of a woman that the world has long desired to know a little better.
Customer Reviews:
Horrible.......2007-08-09
You know its bad when you have Barbara Eden as one of the people who pay tribute to Diana. Yes that Barbra Eden as in "I Dream of Jeannie". Did I miss something? The book's title suggests that the tributes are written by "those who knew her best" Who are these people coming out of the woodwork..Tyra Banks, Donald Trump, etc. Some of these people never even met her how can they know her best? I am a die hard Diana fan and have most of her books but I must say this one put me to sleep. Did you ever hear the expression,"I was so bored I couldn't kill myself"? Well lets just say it was that bad. Don't waste your time nor money. If you really must read this just go to the library. This has got to be the worst Diana book I have ever read.
King of Cashing In on The Anniversary.......2007-07-22
Unlike the other reviewers to date, I disliked this book and found it a bid to cash in on the anniversary of Princess Diana's death. How well did Larry King - or many of those who contributed to the book - really know her?
I usually enjoy compilations and had there been more substance, this would have been no exception. Instead, I found the book shallow and barely skims the surface. Perhaps these people did know her, but after reading the book, a more appropriate title would seem to be ".... From Those Who Met Her". I wanted to like this book, but it was like going to dinner and getting only a few hors d'oeuvres.
Tributes to Diana from her friends and fans from the heart.......2007-07-21
A really wonderful book--a series of tributes to the late Princess of Wales by people from all walks of life, the famous and not so famous. The tributes are from people who knew Diana and met her and some were close friends, some were from people who admired her and were inspired. Each tribute is a vignette from one paragraph to several pages summing up their impressions of Diana and their experiences. Among these are: Larry King, Donald Trump,Sarah Bradford, Heather Mills, Joan Collins, Barbara Eden, Richard Kay, Twiggy, Catherine Walker, Tessa Dahl, and Ken Wharfe. I was moved by Tessa Dahl, a contemporary of the late Princess, she wrote about the parallel lives she and the Princess led and her story was quite moving. Bravo to Heather Mills who wrote in her tribute: "Remember--monuments are not erected to those who criticize, but rather to those who have been criticized." I also liked actr Christopher Biggins tribute and agreed fully when he wrote: "The biggest mistake of her (Diana's)life was to fall in love with her husband. If she hadn't cared for him so much it would have made everything easier to deal with. I don't think anyone had ever taken her aside and explained that her husband had a mistress. She was too young and innocent..." This is a vivid book that captures the personality of Diana. I do have several quibbles but these don't detract from the excellence and spirit of this book. One is that in Joan Hanger's tribute she writes that Will Carling "admitted" having an affair with Diana. I don't recall this happening and Carling who was in the middle of a nasty divorce would not have said a word. And those who knew the late Princess deny that there ever was a physical affair. The second is that in the Timeline at the end of the book, James Hewitt is said to be the man that Diana conversed with on the Squidgy Gate tapes, it was not Hewitt but James Gilbey. The third is the rather sour "tribute" by Dickie Arbiter who seems to pay tribute a little too grudgingly. I am thankful that Joan Rivers was not asked to pay "tribute" to Diana particularly after her rather acid appraisal of Diana after she died (she was invited to Charles and Camilla's wedding and appeared on Larry King and added particularly nasty comments about Diana). This is a fantastic book, Diana fans will want to buy this.

Book Description
Open your heart to the magic found at the water's edge . . . There are many places we can go to enjoy time with friends, to have an action-packed vacation, or to enjoy a little solitude, but none of them have the same ability to soothe our souls as the beach. Perhaps it's the magic portrayed by children building sand castles or the gentle sounds of lapping waves on the shore. Chicken Soup for the Beach Lover's Soul is filled with recollections of special moments that will be appreciated by anyone who has been mesmerized by the spell of the ocean. Color photos of magnificent beach destinations across the United States , from the quaint, historic surroundings of Cape May , New Jersey , to the sultry scenes of Big Sur , California , capture the magic of America --from sea to shining sea. This unique compilation conjures up memories of family beach outings, the joy of finding a spectacular seashell, young love discovered on the sand, and mature love rekindled at the seashore. Join us on this journey of beaches far and near and remember the fun and excitement you found there, and be inspired to create new memories.
Book Description
Join Hermie and his garden friends as they teach Scripture to kids through this new CD series that will provide kids with a fun learning experience. Each CD will be comprised of 10-15 Scripture songs (in stereo) sung by kids and taken directly from Scriptures using ICB, KJV, NKJV, NAS and NCV. Each CD will feature a "missing word" version. As the song repeats, key words will be missing from the vocal in order to help reinforce Scripture memory. For parents who are looking for a tool to help kids learn God's Word, these Scripture Memory Songs will help kids of all ages learn with ease and fun as only Hermie and his garden friends can! Verses included on this volume: Psalm 119:10-11, John 3:16, Phil 1:6, Psalm 139:1-5, 2 Cor 5:17, Psalm 139:13-16, and Jer 29:11 as well as others.
Customer Reviews:
Awesome for Children Who Love Hermie.......2006-11-28
My kids can't get enough of listening to "Hermie and Friends". The songs are perfect for teaching children Scripture - and they don't even realize it. I was amazed the other day to hear my 3 year old singing his little heart out and he was singing the Bible!!!!One day I was teaching my daughter Ps. 139 and she started singing the song to the verse. We have five of the CD's and love them all.
VeggieTales is better.......2006-08-06
My mother-in-law bought this as a birthday present for my 7 year old daughter. We played it in the car. She was not impressed. Neither was my 8 year old daughter. I know most kids love music, as my daughter does, but this wasn't Hermie and gang singing. They just intro the songs. The songs are sung by a children's "choir". I didn't know that until I heard it and THEN read the back of the cd. I prefer VeggieTales music. Bob and Larry and the gang SING the songs, which is fun to hear. My 7 and 8 year old loves them too.
