Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Customer Reviews:
typical inaccuracies, unprofessional.......2005-03-17
It seems that the closer to modern history this text reaches, the further away from accuracy it strays. I was particularly disappointed when reading that Duiker is considered somewhat of an "expert" on Communism--and, by association, socialism. Alas, his expertise does not mean he can differentiate between basic terms such as "welfare state" and socialism. Furthermore, the later chapters are written from the perspective that socialism (even when wrongly identified) is the scourge of the earth, while capitalism will solve all problems.
Given the fact that the authors incorrectly identify a welfare state as socialism, it seems even stranger that they would characterize such systems, past and future--despite the fact that historical research is a descriptive endeavor rather than prescriptive--as utter failures, even though the nation with the greatest living standard in the world is in fact a welfare state.
I am sincerely disappointed with the skewed perspective the authors impose upon impressionable students that usually don't know any better but to accept it all as fact. Although, if you accept the statements provided in the Essential World History, 2nd edition, such anti-academic practices only happen in non-western, communist and freedom hating countries.
If you're interested in indoctrinating a large audience of students ignorant of history, by all means provide this book as their text. If you want to teach real history, however, I'd suggest looking elsewhere.
Book Description
Cuba is much more than cigars, classic automobiles, and Castro. This remarkable nation has had a long history of relations with larger political powers that were drawn to the island because of its valuable resources and strategic location. Ties between Cuba and the United States have been strong since the mid-nineteenth century, and the theme of U.S. dominance over the island and its people is a primary historical influence. Cuba's history is told in eight chronological chapters, from its earliest days as a Spanish colony, through its wars for independence and the U.S. occupation in the twentieth century to Batista, the Cold War, and the so-called "Special Period," when Cuba faced the crisis of the downfall of the Soviet Union. With special emphasis on the twentieth century, the Castro era, and U.S.-Cuba relations, this is the most accessible and current history of Cuba available.
Customer Reviews:
Short and Sweet.......2006-01-05
I walked into this book knowing virtually nothing about Cuba, and this book did an excellent job of providing a short overview of modern Cuba. The history begins with the war for independence from Spain, and proceeds through all of the revolutionary movements, through to Castro's takeover, the Soviet relationship with Cuba, and Castro's changing policies. I found it very enlightening, a quick read, and well worth an afternoon! I would have given it a higher rating if it had more unique information, but it keeps the readers interest, and gives a reasonable overview of the politics and economics of the country.
Book Description
An award-winning translation and condensation of Jewish Antiquities and The Jewish War. Includes black and white photos.
Customer Reviews:
thorough.......2006-02-22
Instead of reading through alot of Old English interpretation and opinion, the facts here are presented straightforward, clear and easy to read for the average reader. The pictures help immensely as they transports you to the era. Still, the book is thorough and stuffed with facts, historical, personal and cultural. A great buy for anyone interested in this period.
A SUCCINCT SUMMARY OF JOSEPHUS.......2004-12-29
For most people, such as myself, reading all of Josephus' Antiquities and The Jewish War is a daunting and time-consuming task. This book does a wonderful job of summarizing both of these important works in under 400 pages. It's easy reading and the footnotes and timelines added by Mr. Maier are helpful. If you want to learn about ancient Hebrews and Israelites as well as the destruction of Jerusalem by the Romans(which Josephus witnessed)then this is your book without reading the complete and voluminous works of Josephus then here's your book.
I should note that the majority of Antiquities paraphrases what is already found in the Old Testament, which is common knowledge to scholars in this subject.
it looked a lot less intimidating than the others.......2000-05-19
This was the first book on Josephus that I have read. The reason I selected this edition over other full length, unabridged versions is that it looked a lot less intimidating (I get shivers down my spine when I think that I am going to have to read through an encyclopedia length tome from cover to cover). My hunch was rewarded with a well organized version that is very easy to read and understand. It covers the essentials of "Jewish Antiquities" and "The Jewish War" in a way that allows you to read through it fairly quickly without having to ponder very long what you have read. The only difficulty I encountered was to keep straight in my mind the family relationships of the nobility in "The Jewish War". Although it is still a fairly long read, I recommend it to anyone who is just starting their studies on Josephus.
Book Description
From Simone de Beauvoir to Susan Faludi, from the ERA to Anita Hill -- a historically informed sourcebook that defines the intellectual and political underpinnings of contemporary feminism.
In this important volume, the respected feminist historian Miriam Schneir completes the work she began in her bestselling Feminism: The Essential Historical Writings, presenting contemporary writings that define the women's movement today add reveal how radically transformative a force it is throughout the world.
Ranging from intensely personal statements to ringing manifestos, from diagnosis to outright rebellion, and incorporating both public records and works addressing such specific issues as religion, rape, women's health, pornography, and the concerns of lesbians and women of color, Feminism in Our Time is the most thorough record to date of women's ongoing struggle to control their own destinies and provide alternative visions of the just society and a true human equality.
Customer Reviews:
Women Have Come So Far.......2007-01-04
Feminism In Our Time should be on the shelf of all women. This book gives the reader a quick understanding of the many women who have fought for women's rights. The book includes writing by so many women who have been important to women's rights. Reading these stories will offer insight into where women have come from. Additionally, reading these stories will help us to realize how far we still have to go for equality for both women and men.
Uneven, but worth the time and trouble.......2003-01-19
If you are already a convert, you'll love this stuff. But if you're a curious scholar, like me, you're going to find this tough sledding at times. I don't like the way the book is organized. But I think most thinking people will find it a useful roadmap into the minds of feminists and it's a good place for men to begin if they want to get a handle on this important movement. Like it or not, the feminists are here to stay.
Should be required reading in school.......2001-07-20
Feminists of each generation, I think, have to do a lot of reinventing of the wheel. We don't know our own history, and although in 2001 we take for granted the ideas that women can be professional athletes or CEOs, that families are not all alike, that equal pay for equal work is fair and right...these ideas were once radical, and not that long ago. Likewise, in the 1970s universal suffrage was taken for granted...and the struggles of women activists in the 1920s were forgotten. This is a valuable collection of writings which gives us some of that history back. It covers important feminist thought from 1949 to 1993. This book holds important lessons for all of us, on religion, rape, health, pornography, family, race, sexual orientation...all manner of relevant and fascinating work.
For those who love women's history.......2001-05-17
Miriam Schneir's book, "Feminism in Our Time..." is an EXCELLENT text full of wonderful bits of powerful moments in American women's history. Her text features the work (in the form of essays, excerpts from books, speeches, or manifestos) of such authors as Simone de Beauvoir, Betty Friedan, Shulamith Firestone, Kate Millet, Anne Koedt, Adrienne Rich, and Anita Hill. In addition, at the beginning of each chapter and before each piece from these and other authors, Schneir provides crucial historical information. The experience of reading the works within this text will undoubtedly move any reader who has a passion for women's history (and for those who don't yet have the passion, this text will spark it) and inspire you to read more!!

Book Description
Illustrated with detailed artworks of German tanks and their markings with exhaustive captions and specifications, The Essential Tank Identification Guide: Wehrmacht Panzer Divisions 1939-45 is the definitive study of the equipment and organization of the Wehrmacht's armored divisions. Organized by division, the book describes in depth the various models of tank in German service during the war with each individual armored division, with listing of the unit commanders and any famous tank aces. Each divisional section is further broken down by campaign, accompanied by orders of battle, a brief divisional history of the campaign and any specific unit markings.
With information boxes accompanying the full-color artworks, all drawn to the same scale, The Essential Tank Identification Guide: Wehrmacht Panzer Divisions 1939-45 is an essential reference guide for modelers and any enthusiast with an interest in the armored divisions of the German Wehrmacht.
Customer Reviews:
Great, for the correct audience.......2006-11-14
This book will greatly please modelers, and will frustrate history buffs. The art is great, and there are many details which will allow detailing a model Panzer, but the history of each division is fragmented, and many of the campaign details are repeated. The use of small drawings of multiple AFVs to show unit strengths seems contrived. The art work is what you will buy this book for and it is very pretty indeed.
An excellent guide to the panzer divisions of WWII.......2006-09-19
This is a great book if you want a basic summary of the actions of each panzer division throughout the war (with the exception of SS panzer divisions). For example, you can find out the exact tank strength (divided by type, such as 34 Panzer Is, 68 Panzer IIs, etc.) of the 7th Panzer Division as it invaded France in May of 1940, as well as the different types of tanks in its inventory, and the type of combat it was involved in. Nearly each page is complete with full color illustrations (profile views of tanks). Each tank pictured is accompanied by a chart which includes the number of crew, weight, length, speed, and other specifications.
The book also discusses and features pictures of various types of assault guns, tank destroyers, and armored cars employed by the panzer divisions. This publication is, much as the title of the book states, essential for anyone who wants a quick guide to the panzer divisions of WWII.
By the way, reviewer mcl173 "Mike" was wrong when he said the book made an error on page 12. The tank pictured IS a panzer III. If he had bothered to read to page 44 of the book, he would have discovered that the tank is a Panzer III Ausf D1, which had eight road wheels.
great illistrations.......2006-08-03
love this book. i am not a modeler but i love the illistrations. a must for any ww2 history buff.
Good Idea - Wrong Title.......2006-07-31
Wehrmacht DOES NOT equal the German Army. Literally translated it means: "defend/defense make." For native English speakers it means: "Armed Forces."
Heer equals German ARMY and is a BRANCH of the Wehrmacht. The Waffen SS was also a branch (de facto) of the Wehrmacht, along with the Kriegsmarine and Luftwaffe.
Granted, the book does have nice eye candy and useful basic information. Then again, some of that information is outdated or simply wrong. Example: The introduction claims that "Panzer Division Organization" for "1944" contained 17-22 tanks per company (Kompanie), with four companies per battalion/detachment (Abteilung).
What is not pointed out, is that this was THEORETICAL for ELITE units (i.e. Grossdeutschland, Panzer Lehr, several SS, etc.). It does NOT apply to the units covered in this title.
Another example is the caption on page 12. It identifies the tank as a Pz.III, it's actually a Pz.IV. Look at the road wheels; a Pz.III has six, a Pz.IV has eight...
The complete list of errors are too numerous to detail here. The shoddy research brings into question how accurate the book really is. Thus, my low review rating. There are better books, booklets, and web sites out there (e.g. see W.J.K. Davies, "German Army Handbook 1939-45").
As always though, the choice to make mistakes are yours...
Great Reference for Wehrmacht Panzers.......2006-05-08
This was a great book for modelers, like myself. Most of the pictures in the book are wonderfully drawn color pictures of the various AFV of the Wehrmacht. They give brief write ups of the major actions that each division participated in. The books give basic characteristics for each AFV (length, hieght, weight, etc). This is a great source for those looking to find a color scheme for their model panzers (or other AFVs). This is a must have for any German AFV modeler.
