Book Description

The Concord Reference Bible presents the King James Version of the Bible in an exceptionally clear and readable typeface. In size, it falls between the small hand-held text and the large desk Bible. This Concord Reference Bible offers a wealth of reference material in a fine calfskin leather binding – a glossary, a concordance, a dictionary of names and phrases, colour maps and gazetteer. Bold-figure cross-references link passages of the text without cluttering the page. The words of the Lord are printed in red. In addition, a presentation page and family record, India paper, gilt edges, ribbon markers and a fine leather binding make this a very attractive Bible to own.

"God's Word revealed to a simple man." The Book contains the key to eternal life. What an awesome GOD, to send HIS only SON - from Glorious Heaven, to filthy earth - to become a man, as you and I, and to be Crucified, willingly, to die for The Believer's Sins....and to defeat Death - and Rise Again, Immortal, and Eternal. THANK YOU JESUS.

This bible is a pleasure to hold in your hands (Black Goatskin Leather). I was concerned that the size of the type would be too small, but that was not the case at all. As another reviewer pointed out, the print quality was poor. The letter shapes were slightly distorted (not laser printer crisp) and small portions of some letters were missing, The text is easy to read, but still a disappointment to a graphic designer/typographer who's profession involves noticing such imperfections. I will be keeping the Bible because I trust Cambridge to get the scripture itself right, which is obviously the most important consideration. I don't have the same faith in other publishers in that regard.

2 out of 5 stars did not meet my expectations.......2007-01-20

Let me just say that I love the bible. I have been searching for a high quality copy of the scriptures and after reading many reviews I decided that the cambridge bible was it. I recieved the bible in a reasonable amount of time and immediateley began to read it. Many of the reviews I read raved about the quality of the typset, how fine it was. Unfortunately this just was not true of the edition which was sent to me. Much of the type was missing portions of the individual letters and was blurred in some places. I can get this type of quality for a third of the price from a bible at Wal-Mart. Also the two ribbon markers which came with my bible were already starting to shred at the ends when I first opened the bible! What a shame. The only positive thing I can say about the bible is the fine leather cover. I purchased the goatskin leather edition and the leather was exquisite. Thats the only thing I will miss about this bible because I am returning it.

This is one of the finest Bible bindings I have ever owned. I am a Pastor and my Sword it used on a daily bases so I need one that will hold up. Amazon had the best price value.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing Quality.......2006-12-06

Let me just say I have a bit of a problem. I have bibles, lots of them. I might have found what I would call the holy grail of bibles. The leather on this bible is fantastic, much nicer than any of the calfskin bibles that I have. Oh, the soft subtle smell of a leather bible. It looks like someone knew what they were doing when they made this bible. The paper is beautiful and I love the refrence system of this bible. No little numbers in the text to annoy or distract you. The refrence system in this bible should be used in all bibles. The size is perfect for me not to small as to get lost and big enough to fit comfortable in the hand. The font and type is clear and dark. So far the only thing I have found wrong is in the back in the bible dictionary, some of the words seem to be a little washed out or the type is not as dark as the rest of the bible. This is the first bible that I have actually felt like I got what I paid for. I would recommend this bible to anyone.

The goldmine of licks is divided into the following categories: Four-beat licks; Eight-beat licks; Introductions and turnarounds. The licks are written in both standard notation and guitar tablature, and recorded at a moderate speed on the companion CD. This is not a method book for beginners, but a nice collection of licks for guitarists who have some fingerstyle ability and want to do some exploring. 1 out of 5 stars Flimfammery!.......2005-11-10

A "poetic" paraphrase of Rafinesque's early nineteenth century hoax. The so-called "Delaware" or "Lenape" text is a patchwork of words culled from early Moravian missionary sources, strung together without regard for grammar or semantic structure. It's a transparent fraud. The so-called "pictographs" are, likewise, a fabrication of Rafinesque. The eminent scholar of Delaware culture and language, Dr. David Oestreicher, in his lengthy doctoral dissertation, has completely demolished any flicker of a notion that this work has any legitimacy, whatsoever. It was ever unknown to the Delaware Tribe of Indians, now headquartered in Bartlesville, OK; and their council has summarily dismissed it. Every resurrection of this work, as an "authentic" production of the Lenape Indians, constitutes another hoax perpetrated on an unsuspecting public--even if done unintentionally. In the end, this is a just another White Man's fiction, masquerading as an Indian narrative.

    5 out of 5 stars Awesome Story!.......2003-04-03

Several years ago I was stuck working in an office, so for some relief after gulping down food at lunch, I retreated to the sanctuary of the local public library just down the street. To my amazement, I discovered a whole range of books on the Native people of the United States. Most of what I had read was negative in nature until finding this book.
I checked it out, brought it home and proceeded to absorb the whole essence of what the author was trying to say. Although it came from the perspective of a descendant of the most recent immigrants;Europeans; nevertheless, it was to me and eye-opening experience. The pictographs are wonderful, the story is magical. It is a pity that I hadn't found it sooner. The story of the Lenape sounds like the whole story of mankind, complete with Creation, floods and evil serpents like the account in Genesis and records of their leaders just as Kings and Chronicles contain in the Holy Bible. I felt a sort of kinship with these people, even though I have never met any Lenape personally and though I am a Christian, I sensed the presence of God in their tale as well.
I live in West Virginia and there is a Petroglyph near to my home that I have visited several times. A Petroglyph is a rock with carvings from some past culture chiseled upon it. The carvings are very similar in nature to the ones in the Red Record so it is quite possible that some of the Shaman of their tribe may have been in my area hundreds of years ago.
All I can say is this book will open your eyes to the rich history and culture of the Native people. I know it will make you want to beat the drums and sing their song.

Read jessito's review. What is your problem dude? The book is interesting, the lenni lanape are interesting, but your white bashing is a bummer. Just because you have a problem with your own race doesn't mean you need to "share." Talk to a shrink.

The Delawares are a very interesting people, and their history, particularly their role in the early West of the 1830s and 1840s is not widely known. Its a great book. Ignore Jessitos "white business" and read the book. Dave

5 out of 5 stars This book is awesome........1999-03-11

Scientists and Native Americans argue amongst themselves and each other about if/when/how the Indians reached North America. Much of the so-called debate in the popular press is shallow and insipid.

Here we have the written pictograph record, along with accompanying orally transmitted songs - and translation, of the Lenni Lenape people, known to us white folks as the Delaware (named for some dead white guy). The Lenni Lenape were acknowledged as "grandfathers" among the Lenape family of tribes, known to us white folks as the Algonquian language group, the largest language group of Native Americans in North America.

The Wallum Olum begins with the mythical creation of the world, the entry of evil and strife, and a great flood. Sound familiar?

Then, things get interesting, as the tale takes on a more historical character, discussing a migration, perhaps from somewhere near Lake Baikal, north, until the icy sea is reached.

Lacking a land bridge to "stumble" (as one white guy put it) across, the Lenape set out in boats and explore a beautiful country to the east. When the icy sea freezes over, 10,000 Lenape cross in an arctic night, after a debate on the subject.

They find a North America already populated by humans. They interact with these others as they migrate across the continent - Iroquois, Moundbuilders, others. And as they migrate, they leave a trail of splinter groups of Lenape peoples, Yurok, Wiyot, Salish, Blackfeet, Cree, Cheyenne, Shawnee, Nanticoke, etc.. Finally they reach Delaware and wait a few hundred years to get "discovered" by whites.

Well, I apologize for telling so much of the story, but it is really a fascinating story, and David McCutcheon does a much better job of telling it than I can, so go check it out. In addition to translating the Wallum Olum and including other stories of the Lenni Lenape and other Lenape tribes that illuminate their culture and migration, he also provides plenty of sound analysis tying the story to the various geographical locations I've hinted at.

This book blew my mind. I wonder what we'll learn when we take a serious look at the stories of other Native Americans.

      Product Description

History: Fiction or Science? is the most explosive tractate on history ever written - however, every theory it contains, no matter how unorthodox, is backed by solid scientific data. The book is well-illustrated, contains over 446 graphs and illustrations, copies of ancient manuscripts, and countless facts attesting to the falsity of the chronology used nowadays, which never cease to amaze the reader. Eminent mathematician proves that: Jesus Christ was born in 1153 and crucified in 1186 The Old Testament refers to mediaeval events. Apocalypse was written after 1486. Does this sound uncanny? This version of events is substantiated by hard facts and logic - validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources - to a greater extent than everything you may have read and heard about history before. The dominating historical discourse in its current state was essentially crafted in the XVI century from a rather contradictory jumble of sources such as innumerable copies of ancient Latin and Greek manuscripts whose originals had vanished in the Dark Ages and the allegedly irrefutable proof offered by late mediaeval astronomers, resting upon the power of ecclesial authorities. Nearly all of its components are blatantly untrue! For some of us, it shall possibly be quite disturbing to see the magnificent edifice of classical history to turn into an ominous simulacrum brooding over the snake pit of mediaeval politics. Twice so, in fact: the first seeing the legendary millenarian dust on the ancient marble turn into a mere layer of dirt - one that meticulous unprejudiced research can eventually remove. The second, and greater, attack of unease comes with the awareness of just how many areas of human knowledge still trust the three elephants of the consensual chronology to support them. Nothing can remedy that except for an individual chronological revolution happening in the minds of a large enough number of people.

Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.

5 out of 5 stars Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19

Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.

5 out of 5 stars Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09

There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.

For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.

      5 out of 5 stars Very Interesting.......2007-03-07

It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.

4 out of 5 stars History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10

Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.

I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.

Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.

Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.

I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.

This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

I have not read this book but I've read many other Red Baron books. I'm writing to correct the statement made by another reviewer that the term victim is inappropriate for a soldier killed in combat. My brother researches family military history and has aquired several war diaries and in each officially written unit history the US military refers to soldiers killed in action on both sides as Victims. Victim is the correct term and if anyone questions this do some research before becoming an expert on the subject.

      1 out of 5 stars Haven't read the book.......2005-02-25

I have read about von Richthofen and his squadren and his life, just not from this book. My review comes simply from the title, I would never read a book so obviously slanted to label people he killed in war as victims, they were there to kill people to and if they had the chance would have shot him, and eventually they did kill him. Civilians are victims in wars, soldiers are casualties. Richthofen killed soldiers, not civilians.

5 out of 5 stars An in-depth look at each of Richthofen's victories.......2001-07-06

This book is not only a treasure trove of historical information, it also manages to evoke the humanity of the Great War. The authors have tracked down tons of information on Richthofen's victims - where and when they were born, some tidbits of their lives, where they were buried and who they left behind (or what became of them after the war if they survived). The book seems to reveal two sides of Richthofen, too - sometimes, a cold-blooded hunter, other times, more of a sportsman who delighted in meeting his adversaries after defeating them.

The authors have also very, very carefully investigated each confirmed 'kill' to try to determine which Allied loss, if any, it was - and in the process exposed the difficulties and inconsistencies in identifying enemy aircraft, determining what happened to them, and recording all the information correctly. Not surprisingly, their research has revealed that some of the 'victims' may have made it home after all - and that perhaps Manfred did not claim every enemy he shot down.

The book is packed with wonderful photographs, of victims and aircraft and, of course, Richthofen himself. There are color paintings of ten of the victories, along with the artist's comments on some of the historical accuracies and liberties he took.

The only problem - and one that is easily overlooked - is some sketchy editing. Some of the text is not as clear as it could be, and some of the text is not well organized.

      5 out of 5 stars A one of a kind history book.......2000-03-31

Massive amoumts of research were obviously put into this book.UNDER THE GUNS OF THE RED BARON recounts every single one ofRichtofen's eighty enemy kills, and, the death of the Baron himself. It also contains a short biography of the pilots who were shot down, and what plane the victims were piloting. Although this may not be your typical history book, it should be in every aviation enthusiasts bookshelf.

        Book Description

In the late nineteenth century, the stereotype of the black male as sexual beast functioned for white supremacists as an externalized symbol of social chaos against which all whites would unite for the purpose of national renewal. The emergence of this stereotype in American culture and literature during and after Reconstruction was related to the growth of white-on-black violence, as white lynch mobs acted in "defense" of white womanhood, the white family, and white nationalism. In Writing a Red Record Sandra Gunning investigates American literary encounters with the conditions, processes, and consequences of such violence through the representation of not just the black rapist stereotype, but of other crucial stereotypes in mediating moments of white social crisis: "lascivious" black womanhood; avenging white masculinity; and passive white femininity. Gunning argues that these figures together signify the tangle of race and gender representation emerging from turn-of-the-century American literature. The book brings together Charles W. Chestnutt, Kate Chopin, Thomas Dixon, David Bryant Fulton, Pauline Hopkins, Mark Twain, and Ida B. Wells: famous, infamous, or long-neglected figures who produced novels, essays, stories, and pamphlets in the volatile period of the 1890s through the early 1900s, and who contributed to the continual renegotiation and redefinition of the terms and boundaries of a national dialogue on racial violence.
