Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Book Description
At 1.162 billion people in 1994, and estimates indicating a population of 1.255 billion people by 2000, China has the largest population in the world. Its history is undeniably long, from its beginnings as small settlements along the banks of the Yangtze and Yellow rivers up through the present rule by Jiang Yemin. The "Historical Dictionary of the People's Republic of China" looks at this country during the period of 1949 through 1997; a period marked by political turbulence and transformation but with substantial progress in economic growth, public health, and social-economic infrastructure. The introduction to the "Dictionary" provides a brief history of the country during this time, which is marked by five distinct periods: economic reconstruction and political consolidation (from 1949-1957), The Great Leap Forward (1958-1965), The Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution (1966-1971), Late Maoism (1972-1977), and the era of reform and political crisis (from 1978-1996). A chronology, one map and two tables add further detail to the work. With selected bibliography, list of acronyms and abbreviations, and spelling and alphabetization notes.

Don't Be Fooled.......2000-05-04
_100 Events_ turns out to be, sadly, a pretty shallow overview of world events. Readers anticipating a companion to, say, _The 100 Most Influential People_, will find themselves disappointed.
To its credit, _100 Events_ does include a few events outside the canon of Western history -- the rule of Asoka, the destablization of Iran, and two or three others. But each of the top events that shaped our world is treated so lightly -- a single page, most of which is taken up by an illustration -- that one may well wonder what notice, if any, the author would give to the next 100.

Customer Reviews:
Could have been better.......2007-04-14
I bought this book in the belief that it would describe 100 selected inventions that shaped world history and also analyze how and why. However, the descriptions of the inventions were brief, they did not spend a lot of thought on the selection, and there was no analysis of why a certain invention had shaped history. It was a thin book written for children and young adults rather than adults. This is not necessarily bad, but was not what I expected. I still found the book useful and I am reading it to my kids. However, I have two major complaints which compel me to drop some stars.
(1) The selection of the inventions could have been better. The Video Disc, Velcro, Xerography, Teflon, the piano, the Dewar flask, the sundial and the inclined plane are all in here, but not paper (T'sai Lun), irrigation, the alphabet, the electric generator, stainless steel, integrated circuit, internet, or air conditioning.
(2) There are some glaring errors in the book. An example is #68 the theory of relativity. First it is a little odd that a scientific theory/discovery is listed together with inventions, but let me quote some errors.
First they claim that the theory of relativity was published in its basic form in 1909, the correct year is 1905.
Last sentence of the first paragraph: "He also theorized that the speed light travels, which we understand as 186,000 miles (299,330 km) per second, is not absolute". Too bad it is exactly the opposite. The theory of relativity is based on the fact that the speed of light in vacuum is absolute.
First sentence third paragraph: "The essence of Einstein's General Theory of Relativity is that if matter is converted into energy, the energy released can be shown in the formula E = mc2". Too bad, but that is NOT Einstein's General Theory of Relativity. E=mc2 is a consequence of the special theory of relativity and the E=mc2 paper was published in Annalen der Physik 1905 (p639-p641). The General theory of relativity was published 1915 and had to do with Gravitation and space/time curvature. The authors are mixing up the theories.
The Laser #88: In the second paragraph they try to explain stimulated emission which is the principle behind the Laser. Well this paragraph is not even wrong, it's nonsense.
So in conclusion, it is not a bad book, it is useful, but it could have been a much better book if the authors had tried a little harder to get it right.
Nice little book.......2001-11-29
This is a nice little book, easily read in one or two sittings, about mostly technological inventions. There are great pictures and/or prints, and clear explanations, even for those who are technologically-challenged. Each invention takes up only one page. Quite suitable for kids ten and up, and adults who want a quick introduction or reference book. I enjoyed it, and passed it on to my unix supervisor son. Some really interesting stuff here.
This is a great book........1999-02-19
This book contains inventions from all around the world from microchips to fire. This is a really good book if you are going to do research on inventions.

not for professionals.......2003-10-28
Althought this book can provide a quick overview of the panorama of the main medical discoveries, which actually seem to be well selected, I expected a deeper and less fragmented cultural insight. While the elementary informations provided might be interesting for non professionals, I would rather advice "Cambridge illustrated history of medicine" for those who are willing to read a good history of medicine on a complete wide cultural and general history background.

Don't believe in islamics........2006-02-19
Don't believe in islamics. Some islamics wrote bad critics about this book.As ever happens, they are buffoons, liars and ridiculous. They claims that this book is against his religion. This could be right, but many other things are against islamic religion. One of then is the American Constituition, who to example, gives free religion, free speach, woman's rights, etc. All of then are, against Islam. If you don't know, 100% of the about 55 countries in the world, with Sharia's law are third world countries.
I read all this book, here in Brazil, in a translation to portuguese. It's cheap, concise and easy to read.At this side, there's problems with this book.At first it lies about Paraguay's war, claiming that Paraguay was a industrial power at that time.A ridiculous lie, first created by Eduardo Galeano, a fanatic marxist, from Uruguay.About 5 wars weren't to stay in this book, because they didn't had enough importance. The book is cheap, concise, but has some failures.
A successful Author.......2005-04-22
Am sorry to put it this way that either the author is an alcohol abuser or he does not have a clue about Islam at all.
It is suggested that the author needs to go back to the basics of writing about history.
A successful author is known by what he writes.....
Samuel Willard Crompton... please!!! there are some other great ways to earn name and money.
Blasphemous.......2004-07-28
As a Muslim and a true believer, I am deeply saddened and offended that the writer would do something that would hurt the feelings of any Muslims around the world. Without asking proper permission from Muslim authorities, he has no right to make up something which he thinks is correct but in fact is considered as blasphemous to us. I can't even dare to look at the picture as I know we Muslims cannot draw pictures or drawings showing the face of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him). No one can imagine how he looked like as he is the most amazing human being ever. I can't believe Samuel Willard Crompton would do such thing if only he is intending to make a fortune out of writing such a tiny book. It would be deeply appreciated if the publisher can stop publishing this book or perhaps the writer can remove the picture and correct whatever wrong information there is in the book.
one word "Blasphemy".......2004-03-22
This book has been very successful in alienating muslims around the world. Just by putting a "picture" of the The prophet of God the author has proven his incompetence. How can the author just randomly select a picture and use it for such a great personality. This is utterly blasphemous. How can such a book even get past a review done by a person with a positive value for common sense? The only decent thing that the author and the publishers of this book can do apologize and remove the picture from the book.
?!!.......2004-03-19
I haven't read the book yet, and to be honest I do not intend to do so, I have heard about a book in wich a picture of the prophet Mohamed (PBUH) but I couldn't believe that such a book could have been publshed without having thought about the muslim comunity and how can it react toward what can be called an attempt to divulgate wrong or unaccurate information about her prophet. In fact none has ever had a portrait of Mohammed(PBUH) so how can the writer allow himself putting such a picture of the greatest leader of muslims?!! it really is a shame that such a book has been allowed to see the light!
