From Aerosmith's heyday in the late 1970s, which they spent "gacked to the nines" (as lead singer Steven Tyler puts it), to the Aerosmith of today--clean, sober, and adored by millions--the band has a long, hard history. Walk This Way chronicles the whole story: drugs, booze, and all.Prefaced with the now familiar rock-star "intervention," when Steven Tyler's loved ones cornered him in his manager's office in 1986, the autobiography traces Aerosmith's twisted road, from their New Hampshire roots to their success in Boston to the worldwide fame that they long craved and currently enjoy. Tyler kicks off this rock & roll exposé, briefly recounting the history of his ancestors in Italy and sharing incidents from his own Northeast childhood. The book is written in interview style, with all five band members talking candidly about the good times--and the bad. We also hear from girlfriends, wives, friends, and various hangers-on.
The story of Aerosmith and their constant ups, downs, and detours never fails to grab you and force you to read another page--if only to see what train wreck awaits around the next corner. Walk This Way is a must-read for devoted fans of Aerosmith as well as anybody who wants to live the full-on '70s rock-star life--without having to go through rehab. --Paul DeBruler
Book Description
From the band that lived by the motto "Anything worth doing was worth overdoing" -- Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton, Brad Whitford, and Joey Kramer -- comes a quarter century of rock godhood: the life, the music, the truth, the hell, the lost years, and the raunchy, unsafe sex.
And, of course, the drugs.
But after crashing in a suffocating cloud of cocaine, crystal meth, and heroin, Aerosmith rose up from the ashes to become clean and sober -- and reclaim their rightful title as World Champion Rockers. Learn how they did it in a book that is pure Aerosmith unbound: where they came from, what they are now, and what they will always be -- a great American band.

A Tribute To Heroes.......2004-07-22
This book demeans its subject.......2003-09-15
This book is the worst form of racist patronization.
Among combat veterans, your deeds speak for you. The deeds of this TD Battalion - and many other units, both "colored" and all white - have gone too long unacknowledged. But to shamelessly manufacture "exploits" is the lowest form of boasting, and simple demeans these men's true accomplishments.
To paraphrase (only because I cannot recall the exact words) the words of one of the unit veterans who decried this book, "What we did speaks for itself". I don't think anything else need be said about this bogus history.
Its a Hoax! No "all-black units" Liberated Buchenwald........2000-07-31
I am particularly familiar with that subject considering that, in addition to the fact that I am a Buchenwald survivor who was there on April 11, 1945... the day of that camp's liberation... I have also been researching the history of the concentration camps since 1969.
First of all, as far as Buchenwald is concerned, it was not liberated by a unit of the U,S. Army but by the 900 members of that camp's underground organization and was subsequently discovered by a four-man patrol of the 6th Armored Division.
The two "all-black units" involved could not possibly have been there considering that, according to the Morning Reports obtained from the Army Reference Branch of the National Personnel Center, the locations of these units were as follows:
(1) 183RD ENGINEER COMBAT BATALION.-
On April 11, 1945, the locations of the sub-units of the above battalion were: (a) Mommenheim (192 miles from Buchenwald)for the Headquarters and Service Company; (b)Hocheim am Main (183 miles from Buchenwald) for Company A; (c) Loerzweiler (192 and 1/2 miles from Buchenwald) for Company B and (d) Boppard (284 miles from Buchenwald) for Company C.
(2) 761ST TANK BATTALION.-
On the day of Buchenwald's self-liberation, the sub-units of the 761st were stationed at: (a) Hildburghausen (70) mles from Buchenwald) for the Headquarters Company, the Service Company and Companies A and D; (b) Oeslau (79 miles from Buchenwald)for Company B and (c) Rottenbach (69 and 1/2 miles from Buchenwald) for Company C.
Now,as far as Dachau is concerned, some of the veterans of the 761st Tank Battalion have made the ludicrous claim that they liberated both Buchenwald and Dachau, however, the latter camp was liberated on April 29, 1945 by the 42nd and 45th Infantry Divisions.
On the day of Dachau's liberation, the sub-units of the 761st Tank Battalion were located at (A) Straubing (78 miles from Dachau) for the Headquarters Company, the Service Company and Company D; (B)Eltheim (83 miles from Dachau) for Companies A and B and (C) Salching (73 miles from Dachau) for Company C.
The liberation of Buchenwald and Dachau by these two battalions is a fabrication of historical fiction and there is no doubt in my mind that it was concocted for the purpose of improving relations between the African-American and Jewish communities... a worthy cause which should not have been served in such an unethical way.
A particularly disgusting aspect of that charade is that the U.S Holocaust Memorial Museum has been supporting and promoting the handful of veterans of those two battalions who have been involved in publicizing that hoax.

World War Two Tanks
George Forty Manufacturer: Osprey Pub Co ProductGroup: Book Binding: Hardcover ASIN: 1855325322 |
Book Description
By the end of World War Two, the tank was established as one of the most potent battle winners in history. Between 1939 and 1945 over 280,000 tanks of all types had been built by the major combatants - 105,000 by the Soviets alone. The tank had undoubtedly become the main weapon of the land-based army. This book covers in comprehensive detail the development, production and battlefield use by the forces of Great Britain, the Commonwealth, the USA, the Soviet Union, France, Germany, Italy and Japan, as well as the other combatant countries.Customer Reviews:
World War Two series.......2001-12-13
This book concentrates on the Tanks high days, the Battlefields of World War two !
The deversity and info gathered about all major countries (and even some others) is the best i have ever seen.
Countries included are the USA, Germany, Soviet Union, Great Brittain and Commonwealth but also countries like Hungary and Sweden.
But the best part is of course it's loaded with Pictures (recent color pictures and Black and white pictures). You'll find the Shermans and Tigers in it, but prototypes and failures(like the Maus and the Bob Semple tank) are not forgotten.
You will be surprised by all the types in service, mentioned here.
As a World War Two addict this one can't be missed, Lieutenant Colonal George Forty at his best!
If you are looking for one book on this subject this it it!.......1998-05-23

British and american tanks of WWII.......2005-09-01
allied tanks.......2003-01-14
But on the positive side, an appendix of british and American tank armament is included in the back that is in far more detail than the one provided in the German one which is excellent reading. And the same can also be said of engines.
A good refurence in regards to the British, American, Canadian and Australian tanks and their sub types.

Awesome history of German Tanks.......2007-07-28
Excellent source of reference.......2004-06-23
The book claims to be a definitive book on the German military vehicles and for once, this is not an over hype. It would be hard to find another book which hold this much information and data on all the individual German military vehicles as this. I would considered this book as one of the mandatory books in any World War II historian's library.
(In clarification, this book covered all the combat vehicles which served with the German military. It doesn't covered vehicles like Schwimmwagen or Kubelwagen or regular army truck.)

Perhaps the best overview of World War II German armor.......1997-07-17
As a builder of 1/35th scale armor, this book provides an excellent ready reference. An emphasis is placed on the vital statistics of each vehicle including (but not limited to): the number produced, the various designations of the vehicle, the engine, range, armament, ammunition carried, and armor angle and thinckness.
Each mark (or Ausfurung) of each vehicle has its own entry, for example, the Panther is split into entries for the Ausf. D, Ausf. A, Ausf. G, and even the Ausf. F (with the Jagdpanther and Bergenpanther being separate as well). Differences between the models are detailed as well.
While the photographs in this book are not comprehensive enough from which to accurize a kit, the text does not unique features of each vehicle (which can be, in turn, looked for in other photographs).
I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interesed in World War II armor, especially anyone who builds armor models.
