5 out of 5 stars Volume 3 of the best books ever written on the man.......2001-12-13

I have read at least 10 other authors or translators/interpreters on the quatrains of Nostradamus. This book and its associated volumes, Volume I and Volume II, are the best books ever written on the great healer.

After reading this series on Nostradamus by Dolores Cannon, I went on to read every other book written by her that was still in print. Dolores Cannon has the ability to make complex concepts understandable.

In these Volumes on Nostradamus, the translations of the quatrains are from the Master himself. If you need to be convinced, just read the passages regarding the Bush-Gore elections. Remind yourself that the book was originally written in the 1980's.

I highly recommend that if you were allowed to read only one author on Nostradamus, then Dolores Cannon must be that author.

5 out of 5 stars I thought it was an excellent book.......1999-11-10

In reading any of Delores Cannon's books you get a lot of information that is believable. I have read all of her books and each new one surpasses the last. They are very enlightening and informative. I always look forward to her next book. The only problem is that she doesn't produce them as fast as I would like. I am very much looking forward to her next book, and would recommended them to everyone that is interested in the future of mankind.

1 out of 5 stars A good insight to what some people are capable of for money!.......1999-04-22

I was somehow forced to rate the book one star, because there is no possibility of rating it with none. However, and in second thoughts, this book *is* worth at least one star, because it will give you a mercyless insight to what some writers are capable of doing for the money.

5 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT EXCELLENT EXCELLENT !!!!.......2006-09-03

I have read all three volumes - what a Great read! The newer printings have updates about the prophecies that have already come true! You can't make this stuff up - these books were written before many of these prophecies have happened. When I first read Dolores's book - it was volume 3 and many of the explanations especially about president Bush had not happened yet - I have reread her books recently and I can see where many of them have now come true! Incredible book! READ IT AND ENJOY!!!!

5 out of 5 stars Volume 2 of the best books ever written on the man.......2001-12-13

1 out of 5 stars contradictory information.......2001-10-11

after reading Vol.I I was quite excited and could give the author the benefit of a doubt, however Vol.II contradicts itself. This shows at the very best lack of research on the part of the author and at the worst, that either the subjects she works with are (or the whole thing is) a hoax. Take i.e. the character Ogmios: Nostradamus says first that he is a "man of great stature" (p76 VII) and -surprise- on p100 he's "short and stocky". What happened, did he shrink? Also after the earth shift Japan is gone (p169) only to reappear growing larger in p288. I would like to know how the author and those who gave the book 5 stars can possibly explain this.

5 out of 5 stars This is not science fiction........1999-07-22

I am as skeptical as the next guy, but I found this book to be truly convincing as well as informative. If it is a hoax, I believe Ms. Cannon was the subject, not the conspiritor. I think everyone should at least open up their minds a little bit and read this book.

5 out of 5 stars GREAT Book!.......2007-09-03

This book is great, it has a lot of information about Nostradamus and his prophecies, and it tells the truth as it is.

It all starts when Dolores Cannon regressed an average woman to one of her past lives, eventually to find out that she was a student of Nostradamus! During later regressions, Nostradamus speaks indirectly to Dolores to uncover his confusing prophecies so that he can warn mankind!

whoever wrote the 1 star review obviously hasn't read the book

4 out of 5 stars A brave author........2004-06-11

If you read the whole three volumes, you will see some amazing hits by the author.

The truth of this channeled work is that it was intended for ONE PERSON. He got the message and is now THE ONE to read on Nostradamus.

Look up Sollog in any search engine and you'll see the ONE this series was intended for.

It's a good read for any fan of Nostradamus.

Just keep track of some of the things D warned of and read the recent headlines.

It's a little 'veiled' for the public, but there are many clear hits.

Excellent job D the ONE got the message N sent.

1 out of 5 stars PURE NONSENSE!.......2002-04-18

This book is the typical fair for those who have a tabloid mentality and are superstitious, rather than objective. Nostradamus' writings are so completely vague that they can be readily interpreted any way one wishes. This is why they are constantly rehashed and reinterpreted to be repackaged and resold to every superficial sap with a buck to waste.

5 out of 5 stars Predictions coming true?.......2001-01-11

Read all three volumes a few years ago at the library, then bought the books because they were not only interesting but poetic, historic, funny, dramatic, science, science fiction, metaphysical, spritual, frightening, shocking, everything all rolled up in one.

My books right now are in storage, but I remember one quatrain in the second or third volume that pertained to an election that ended up in a tie. Delores Cannon interpreted it to the election of Jimmy Carter's campaign/election. Nostradamus said the words "Hung Jury", etc. Does anyone, beside myself, see the last election (Gore/Bush) as a "Hung Jury"? Write back if you think so.

Sincerely, Car

Book Description

Has Nostradamus predicted the coming Apocalypse along with a thousand other great events? His believers claim that in the 1500s he predicted historic milestones that have or will alter the course of human history, such as the rise of Napoleon and Hitler. Published here are the hard to find original English translations from 1672 to help you answer that question. Finally, you can look through the actual work of Nostradamus to see if you can solve his riddles. He scribed over a thousand quatrains that cover events from the 1500s to the year 3797. Since these were translated by Theodore Garencieres, before the rise of the first two antichrists, they are untainted with the bias of current events. See if you can unravel the hidden meaning of his quatrains and discover his vision of the future. Plagued by the Inquisition, Nostradamus was notorious for obfuscating his meaning with anagrams, symbolism, and mythological allusions. Study of his work can be a fascinating hobby or intellectual exercise that can be quite enjoyable. What great event will be discovered next in this cryptic text?

3 out of 5 stars Worth a thought.......2003-11-15

Even if Nostradamus was right 10% of the time, and he was right more often than that, it'd be worth a minute in thought. Reading about him is not a waste of time, I'd recommend any bright mind to read this book, but also to exercise reason while doing so.
I'd be easier to read a more simplified version if you just wanna get a basic story of Nostradamus, but if you are a serious scholar - this is a good refference book

5 out of 5 stars Good original book!.......2002-10-20

It is a good and old translted version used an old type english!
It can crush up the mistakes from interpreters of different periods!
I recommend this one for the readers who is interested in Nostradamus and not belong to European culture-language worlds!
Especially one is belong to eastern culture-language !!

4 out of 5 stars The Great.......2002-07-10

I have read many books by Nostradamus. I have read better, but this is definitley not bad. I would like to write a message to the person from England, who says that any of Nostradamus' prophecies can be twisted and turned into many ways.......WRONG. "A mushroom shaped explosion" is in one of his quatrains, is that vogue? its the exact shape of a nuclear weapons Smoke! Nostradamus even told how many years Hitler would rule! Nostradamus saw a young boy in the streets, got off his carraige and got on his knee's and praised the boy. Saying "Your holiness!" Years later, that boy became Pope! Nostradamus also cured 3 cities that were infected with the Bubonic Plague, and to give him no credit and say he is nothing? His wife and 2 kids were killed! yet he STILL helped the communities. He has predicted many deaths, even his own, he told when and where he was coming back from. Everyone said he was of the devil, many people hated him in his time, yet he was still nice. I think he did Sorcery, but not Satanic Sorcery. he cured people with herbs and that is used in sorcery, but he was very religeous.(christain) he saved SO many lives, he is very important.

5 out of 5 stars A rare find.......2002-01-13

I picked up a copy of this book on my recent trip to Greece. In my time away, I was hoping to acquaint myself with the various works of the famous prophets. When I found this book, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it had the complete translation of Garencieres. His original book is quite rare and considered to be an antique. I almost managed to acquire a copy once, but it ended up going for over $5,000. This is a historically significant translation since it is one of the earliest modern English versions. Garencieres worked in the 1600's and couldn't slant the translation to fit modern events. It is enjoyable to compare his work to the modern "masters" of interpretation.

5 out of 5 stars Best Book on the Legendary Medieval Prophet : Michel Nostradamas .......2007-10-16

This excellent Nostradamas book is by far the most detailed one about his life and his prophesies.Erika Cheetham also had an interesting short paperback ,published in the mid-1970s.Hers was a popular reading, yet not very weighty about the span of Nostradamas' life and his lesser known quatranes.People throughout the centuries have always read into the cryptic prophesies to fit their own current situation.Hitler and Hess read the books of Nostradamas and praised him for his keen vision on the awakening of German Nationalism and military might.Yet,Hitler and Hess ignored the later predictions on Germany's defeat. His legendary predictions on European noblity, world politics and scientific discoveries are still world famous. The most recent prediction of discussion is his one on 'fire and destruction in the New City'.This has for years been intrepreted as 'New York City'.He predicted that chaos would have occurred in the year 1999.The flipped numbers of 1666,the devilish year the infernal flames consumed much of old wooden London, all started from a baker's oven. It's really hard to say whether this jewish doctor from Salon,France had the power to see into the future.Eventhough Nostradamas had converted to the catholic faith,he still practised secretly his 'black arts of divination, herb magick and the occult'.Maybe there is a secret Nostradamas cult, like Adam Weishaupt's Illuminati, that was formed to ensure that his words are carried out and put into action.Even more strange is that many cultural chiefs and ancient soothsayers, like Nostradamas, predicted global chaos in the year 2012.So,if you want the most complex examination of the life and prophesies of Nostradamas, then you must read this book first.

5 out of 5 stars Leoni was a true scholar........2004-06-11

Unlike the current crop of Nostradamus 'experts' the work by Leoni is truly inspiring. He was a real Nostradamus Scholar.

His bibliography within the book is an excellent source for learning about the various early editions of Nostradamus.

The only person who has written upon this topic with more expertise recently is Sollog. Check out his name in any search engine and you'll see he is the biggest secret on the Net.

Leoni and Sollog get my vote as the creme de la creme in the world of Nostradamus researchers and translators.

5 out of 5 stars Great book on Nostradamus but..........2002-06-16

Nostradamus' prophecies are too vague and can mean almost anything. If you think about it, there were many things that Nostradamus never predicted that were huge events in history. This prophet seems to mostly talk about politics and countries getting attacked by other countries. And most of them are still so enigmatic that one might say that "he got away with it." If you're trying to find the WTC attack in Nostradamus' Prophecies, then don't even bother because its not in this book! If you haven't notice, that WTC prophecy was a huge hoax by some ... who wanted everyone to waste their money on this book. There could be only one solution to Nostradamus' extremely vague prophecies...He probably wrote some type of code within the prophecies that no one will understand until later in the 21st Century. But I doubt it. If its the year 3797 and no one has figured out his "code", then we will all know that he is a big ..., even though he totally had a lot of confidence in himself.

1 out of 5 stars Captain.......2002-02-07

Utter Disappointment, I wish I had never purchased this book. However, it will cure any insomnia you may have. Check out something else.

5 out of 5 stars More Substance With Less Speculation.......2002-02-01

Edgar Leoni does a fine job with this book. Rather than engaging in superfluous speculation and spiritualization, Leoni simply translates the quatrains directly from French/Latin into English, and then compares the predicted events with possible matches to history. For predictions which haven't yet occurred, he gives an intelligent, straight-forward conclusion on its meaning, and does not hesitate to admit that some of the quatrains are simply to vague and obscure to pin down. This is also one of the few Nostradamus books to include all of the quatrains, as well as the preface and Epistle to King Henry II, in the correct chronological order. The index is very complete and easy to use. The only drawback is that Leoni wrote this book in 1960- if only he know what the rest of the 20th century would bring!

            50 prints 6 x 9

From 1799 to 1819 more than 1,000 pages of British naval news and views were published every year in The Naval Chronicle, including action reports, intelligence of foreign naval matters, and biographies of officers. In short, it was the most important original account of the naval part of the Napoleonic Wars. Outside the major libraries the 40 volumes of The Naval Chronicle are not generally available. This new consolidated edition, in five volumes, contains all the most significant material from the originals, including Admiral Nelson's only autobiographical record.

Nicholas Tracy, a member of the history department of the University of New Brunswick, is the editor of Naval Warfare in the Age of Sail and the author of the definitive Nelson's Battles.

5 out of 5 stars The real story behind modern nautical fiction.......2000-07-04

Fans of such modern nautical fiction series such as those by Patrick O'Brian, C.S. Forester, Alexander Kent, and Dudley Pope can find within the pages of this volume (and its four predecessors) the contemporary records of the men and events later fictionalized by O'Brian and others. It is all history in the raw, written by the participants at the time of the events described. And when you've read the pages of the Naval Chronicle, you will realilze that the fictional exploits of Jack Aubrey, Horatio Hornblower, and Richard Bolitho are not fantastic at all, simply reflections of what the real Royal Navy did two centuries ago.
