personal dialogue with God( yet?) so universal.......1999-09-12
It is a series of dialogues with God ( within the background of Bible) by a women on every aspect that is affecting as a mother, wife, career woman; except few, every one find it easy to read through and will derive some meaning; a perfect book for gift; It is not moralistic; humanistic. One should not categorise it as woman oriented since the other is a woman; Should we say David's psalms for men only? or Job's cry for men onyl; The book belong to this category in its theme. Even in Bible,we come across the woman at Jacob's well who may be the first to carry the Good news to her village; For some interested to look for similar themes in Hindusim, I can draw attention to Kunti's prayers; Meera's Bhajans; Gopika's geetham ( Bhagavatam). There are exactly same in the focus, but they are conversation with God. Even in India, a modern women will find easier to identify with the Majorie Holmes rather than characters in Hindu puranas; So Who AM I, God? is a good gift for any boby ( male or female). She seeks support from God to deal with the question of fatal attraction. She seeks guidance from God to deal with depression,divorce... She seeks support for quitting smoking. So....
Ageless & timeless as our cry for guidance from our Creator.......1999-03-27
Who Am I God, by Marjorie Holmes was given to me in 1970 after the birth of my first child. It has guided me, comforted and given words to my deepest feeling. It covers the universal joys and challanges of life including the death of a child. The Bible and this book consoled me after our daughter died in 1993. It is ageless and timeless, whispering the words we speak in the silence of our hearts to our Creator. I am purchasing a copy for my daughter who is a young mother.

good perspective; too few details.......2006-11-15
5 stars to Ingrid for being so direct with issues that are rarely discussed in the church. ...But 3 stars because I kept asking "why?" She doesn't go into detail about some things; doesn't back up others with statistics/examples/facts. I was confused on the chapter about the natural family planning. I didn't think she explained it very clearly. I had to look up more information elsewhere because I was confused about what she was saying. I went to hear her speak and I got even more confused by the charts she gave us...But it's a decent book if you are looking for a Christian perspective. I think she has another one called "An Experience of Love" (which is out of print) which contains readers' letters and the answers to them.
concisely helpful, a welcomed change of perspective.......2005-07-18
This book is very to the point. Trobisch doesn't drone on and on in explanation, but what she relays is succinct information about how a woman's body is built and how to best face the different phases of life as a woman. She also integrates Biblical principles, which further support her conclusions.
She writes to encourage, not only women, but men as well, specifically challenging "brave couples" to read it together. A woman's sexuality is not to be a mystery to her husband, and this is clearly communicated. The intimacy of a married couple is to be experienced together, and it doesn't just happen in the bedroom. Intimacy, conception, pregnancy, birth, breast-feeding, and menopause are all discussed separately. Each referenced study and book are compiled in a list at the end.
Trobisch wrote this book after having passed through the stages of womanhood, enjoying each step of the way. For the woman who would like to learn more about these subjects without being bogged down with the hundreds of pages of most women's books, and would like a Biblically-based approach, I recommend reading "The Joy of Being a Woman...".

EMILIE BARNES GETS TO THE "HEART" OF THE MATTER.......2001-07-12
Emilie Barnes has once again brought forth a lovely and motivating book. Bear in mind that this book is excerpted from her original work, "The Spirit of Loveliness." "The Heart of Loveliness" contains Mrs. Barnes' core ideas on femininity, godliness, inner beauty, tranquility (both inner and outer), and developing a nurturing spirit. It may seem a re-run of her original work unless one is aware that Mrs. Barnes has collected the most focal points of the first book that are central to her desired theme this time of celebrating a joyous womanhood. There are new ideas, as well, including Mrs. Barnes' personal wish that the reader might truly experience "moments of quiet grace and hours of exuberant rejoicing."
The book is charmingly illustrated with paintings by artist Donny Finley. They are simply delightful to view and they carry forth the themes of the book so very well. This book is definitely for any woman who wishes to be beautifully inspired to go forth in this world as a truly lovely person.

This book is amazing.......2002-03-08
I would highly recommend this book. Ms. Gilbert's brother Billy Clift has also writtien a book entitled "Everything is Going to be Just Fine" that is also metaphysical in nature and equally as riveting ......
I've read and reread them both ..... Ruth
It's About Time!.......2001-08-21
That's the thought I had when I found Joy's book. Have you ever been scared you were loosing your mind, that those that loved you couldn't believe, much less understand what you were going through? Now try telling them you're having alien contact.
Joy's book is a grounded touchstone of sanity. This clear and honest autobiography lets those under similar circumstances know they're not alone and not crazy, at least no more than everyone else isý More importantly it shows that there really is information and support available to heal yourself with. A nice change of pace from the avalanche of books fraught with everything from bovine stigmata to evil aliens intent on controlling the NASDAQ.
Thank you Joy, for you're honesty, vulnerability and compassion in writing this book.
Not easy to follow, but full of important information........1999-03-02
Admittedly, Joy's book is not easy to read in terms of writing style. However, I have attended lectures and other events she led, and I've found her to have one of the most amazing stories I've ever heard. Joy's message is profound & impacting - the book itself doesn't impress me that way, but for anyone who actually contacts the author to attend her lectures or meditation trainings, I can honestly say it could change your life in a most powerful way.
rehash of old myth.......1998-07-06
Read any abductees' tales fron the '60's and you will have better than this effort. Gilbert seems to have had some experience concerning ufo phenomena, but it is the same as anyone who has ever seen a grade b sci-fi movie (and if the genre interests you, please rent some ancient film or read an account from the time before commercial wannabes began staking thier claim to extraterrestial turf). If you, feel a need to be "taken" to another realm by all means buy this volume, if you've been taken enough, shun it.

Amused by last review.......2005-01-08
I am the author of this book and was amused to find the below review as I perused online today. As I have received many emails from other readers who have enjoyed this book and found it to be a great gift item, I don't take the rant to heart. I actually find the passion of it a little suspicious. As it is an anonymous review, I wonder if it is a disgruntled coworker or relative in my life -- time will till tell I guess! Anyway, if you try the book and don't like, I encourage you to return it like this reader as well. However, I stand behind the nature of the material wholeheartedly as it is meant to be a fun, casual read that celebrates womanhood.
Amy's Joy.......2004-03-18
Not every woman's. I am totally disapointed in this book. Shame of it, Amy's Joys aren't the same or close to mine and I consider myself normal. Honestly, how can anyone write that many pages of dribble. Save your money, if you are dying to read it, try the library! Thank God I did and can take it back tomorrow!

Book Description
Battle Atlas of the Falklands War 1982 from the occupation of South Georgia and the Falklands Islands/Malvinas by the Argentines, the assembly and dispatch of the British Task Force, to the reconquest of the islands. Includes 48 maps, 51 photographs, and appendices listing British ships and aircraft and Argentine aircraft losses and British gallantry awards
Book Description
The war fought between the United Kingdom and Argentina in 1982, for the possession of the Falkland Islands was probably the last 'colonial' war that will ever be undertaken by the British. This book shows how the key to British success was the speed with which the British gained and then maintained air superiority over the islands and the waters around then with their small force of Sea Harrier STOVL warplanes, which operated from two aircraft carriers. Though subsonic, the Sea Harrier and its Sidewinder AAM were a combination altogether superior to Argentina's mix of supersonic and subsonic warplanes with older weapons, and this advantage was emphasised by the significantly greater tactical acuity of the British pilots. The Argentine pilots fought with considerable piloting skill and enormous courage, and scored a number of stunning successes against British warships, but ultimately they could not prevent the British landing and the following land campaign that resulted in complete Argentine defeat.

Not among the best of Osprey's.......2007-06-11
I write from a modelmaker point of view. The book has an adequate but basic history of the war. However colour profiles has many bad mistakes: even the front cover pictures represents wrongly the post-war camouflaged Sea Harrier. The code of XZ451 was "006" during the hostilities. Colour plate no 4 has a same machine but a different text under it: ZA174 had a medium grey scheme. I also doubt that Argentine navy A-4 Skyhawk (plate no 8) wore Super Etendard style camouflage during the conflict (if ever). Photos are very useful even there is also pre- and post-conflict photos among them. Argentine losses are listed, British are not. But it is nice to read that Mr Chant tries to be neutral, for example, the "own goal" Gazelle loss (6th June 1982) is mentioned. I still believe this book belongs to modelmakers and historians desk but it cannot be trusted solely as an concise history of the Falklands air war.
Mr.Chant should put more effort in.......2006-07-21
No pictures of the pilots, gun cameras or the "MiG" killing Harriers.Makes mistakes like the BBC reporters at the time by calling NAVY pilots "Flight Luietenants" and vice versa for the RAF pilots, as Luietenant. No in depth look at the battles or pilot's accounts.I think Commander "Sharky" Ward will do a backflip to see that he was in Mike Blisset's squadron,800 NAS, at one stage in this book.
I really think Mr.Chant should get some tipps from Shlomo Aloni's books about the Isreali Aces.
Well balanced and accurate.......2006-03-08
Christopher Chant has written a fine account of the Falklands air war keeping a perfect balance between the British and the Argentinians and explaining in great detail the tactics, the weapons and the controversies of that campaign. The appendices at the end of the book are also a treasure of information and statistics.
Fairly good book.......2006-01-30
The book is fairly good. Had a few factual errors (Rio as the capital of Brazil for example), as well as a couple of typos.
Good description of the overall event, although light on the sinking of the General Belgrano, which was a major combat event in terms of significance and loss of life (even though not air combat related).

THe Best (and virtually only) Book on the Falklands Air War.......2001-02-18
As a student which has written papers on the Falklands Conflict of 1982, I have found this book to be an invaluable reference. Though written from the British point of view, this book does pretty well in being as unbiased as possible. Its day-by-day accounts are excellent, and the appendicies are excellent also. The only possible downside to this book is the Kill Tables in the back of the book are innacurate when compared to both British and Argentinian sources. But, considering the fact that these numbers were compiled by the authors can explain this.
Chronicle and strategic analysis of Falklands air war........1998-09-29
Ethell and Price present a summation of the air war in and around the Falklands Islands during the 1982 war. The detail is complete, down to a complete chronology, summaries of important missions, details on combat , aircraft losses, successful strikes, and opposing order of battle comparisons. This is a book more aimed at the military buff or military historian. The viewpoint is obviously British, but the authors present well documented information about the actions taken by the Argentinian forces and staff during the conflict.
Beyond the day-to-day action, the most interesting facet of this book is a revelation of the immense strategic effect British air power played in the contest. The embarked air wing sealed off the Argentine garrison, repeatedly drove Argentian aircraft away from support of their own troops, devised tactics to defeat numerically superior forces in spite of very limited resources, controlled the air, and confounded a tottering Argentine military establishment.
The British Navy payed heavily for the Falklands War, the army fought and won a decisive victory, the air arm triumphed.
Facts such as why the air wing guaranteed the Paras win at Goose Greene, and why the bombing raid on the Port Stanley airfield (much derided) produced an unforseen and brilliant strategic succes shed important light on the British triumph.
A must read for those interested in the strategy and tactics of air war.
Excellent........1998-05-22
I was 10 years old when I picked out this book in a grocery store to read on a family road trip; it had a cool picture of a jet on the cover. This book began a long-running fascination with everything military, especially fighters and the Harrier in particular. It is detailed and somewhat technical, but the fact that a 10-year-old was willing to struggle with it speaks volumes for its captivating narrative. Highly recommended should you happen to see this lying around somewhere.

Book Description
On Friday, April 9, 1982, a British task force set sail for the Falkland Islands. Three months later it, after a short but brutal campaign, it had successfully completed its mission of ejecting the Argentinean occupying forces from the islands. With 3 Para to the Falklands, released to mark the twentieth anniversary of the campaign, is the full story of that dramatic campaign from the point of view of a sergeant in 3 Para.
3 Para played a significant part in the sharp, bloody campaign, marching from Port San Carlos to Port Stanley and fighting one of the crucial battles of the campaign the night assault on Mount Longdon. Graham Colbeck was there every step of the way and his account reveals the realities of fighting in this stubbornly contested conflict. His narrative brings to the fore the chilling nature of the fighting, the challenge of the harsh conditions met on the Falklands, the training and techniques of an elite force, and the comradeship of troops in battle. With 3 Para to the Falklands is one man's story of living through this vivid and intense period and a gripping insight into the experience of modern battle. Published to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the campaign, it provides a stunning account of the struggle for the Falklands.

Just "another" Falklands book, 24 July, 2002.......2002-08-12
Someone gave me a paperback version of this book some years ago, and unlike other books by authors "who were there", I found it a difficult read, and often boring. However, some of the photos are OK. Typically, like the authors of other such books, Colbeck has turned to a former senior officer to provide a forward, with the obvious intention of giving weight and authenticity to the title. I'm surprised the book was thought worthy of a reprint.
There are many books covering the Falklands conflict, both general and at ground level. This is one to avoid at all costs.
