Headache Free!.......2005-07-13
After a grueling day at work in the city, I came home with a headache that was more than unbearable. Luckily I had recently purchased "Yoga Therapy for Headache Relief", and this was the perfect opporutnity to try it out. It worked! After the rountine, amazingly the severity of my headache had dimishned and after sometime the pain left entirely. Now I practice the yoga postures offered in this book so I can maintain overall well-being and I remain to this day virtually headache free. Thank you! -Phil Romano
Yoga Therapy for Headache Relief.......2004-10-09
I found this book both informative and enjoyable to read. The background information on headaches is presented in a thorough but easy to understand way. The techniques for headache management and prevention are both practical and fun. I have made the yoga techniques a part of my daily routine with good result--I look forward to doing them! I would recommend this book to any one who would like to learn to better manage their own stress, and get results right away.
An alternate treatment approach for headache sufferers.......2004-07-28
I am a frequent sufferer of both tension-type headaches and migraines, and I also practice yoga several times per week. This attractive little square book provides an easy to follow yoga stretching routine that is appropriate for anyone, even those with no prior exposure to yoga.
The book begins with some basic information about headaches, including distinguishing between tension-type headaches and migraines and reviewing common causes of headaches. This material is presented in a simple, easy-to-read format, although it will probably already be familiar to those who have done prior research into their headaches. The authors then move into an overview of Ananda yoga, a copyrighted style which basically combines traditional yoga postures with positive affirmations.
Next come the yoga routines themselves. The book presents several options, including the Main Routine, a 20-minute daily practice to help prevent headaches, and the Intervention Routine, which can be used to decrease the discomfort from certain types of headaches in progress. The Main Routine consists of 15 total exercises which vary from standing in correct posture, yogic breathing, arm stretches, and neck rolls to seated and lying stretches. Exercises 9-15 include a simple affirmation such as 'I relax from outer involvement into my inner haven of peace.' The only prop required is a blanket; a strap is optional for some of the poses. An additional chapter suggests more challenging postures such as ear-closing pose, shoulderstand, and plow for once you are ready to expand your daily practice. The Intervention Routine includes 5 exercises from the Main routine plus yogic breath and relaxation postures. Finally, the book ends with a review of other options for headache treatments, including medications.
These simple stretching routines will definitely help you to release tension from your muscles while relaxing your body and mind. Since I already practice yoga, I don't plan to do the entire routine daily, but I'm confident that adding these simple postures will have a positive impact on my headaches. This is an excellent resource for those who prefer a more wellness-focused model to traditional medical treatment.
This deserves to be a bestseller!.......2004-02-10
Outstanding! I couldn't stop reading it from cover to cover, just for the pleasure of discovering what information and solutions would come next. I tried the short yoga routine when I had a major tension headache building and had complete and immediate relief, plus my headache didn't reappear hours later as it can when taking pills. The photos took me step by step with excellent guidelines. Now I keep the book handy, and have put away my bottle of Advil. I'm thrilled I don't have to be dependant on pills!
This book is very well written, and has lots of photos so it's easy to follow and understand. Here is a great blend of traditional medicine and easy yoga postures and techniques to prevent and relieve headaches. The medical information is thorough, yet nicely written for the layperson. The medical treatments transition beautifully to prevention and remedies through yoga. The postures are fabulous, too, just for relieving neck and shoulder tension and feeling more calm. I'm sold! A longer, daily routine is also offered for people who suffer from migraines and frequent headaches.
Now I don't have to mask symptoms by taking pills, and can go right to the source of the problem -- in 5-10 minutes. A treasure of a book!

cluster headaches by seymour diamond, md.......2002-01-10
quote:"treatment.relief for ....." This should never again be offered on Amazon (you are too far above this type of lit.)
It consists of an intro, a few paragraphs (only a few sentences each) to describe a headache...the rest of the entire content of this so called "help book", consists of list upon list of what other people have said about or how they described their headaches. When he says"from the personal experiences of " who were these people? "provided to encourage.." he needs a ghost writer, people with headaches who buy a book penned by a "MD", you want their opinion, not what so and so says about
their heads. They look for the book that will give encouragement in the form of offering viable, scientificly
researched data that will help them, not just give you the sense...move over, there are plenty of others out there with headaches and read what they say.
Sorry, but it was, for an avid reader of above average intelligence, a VERY dissapointing book. I am sure the author must have much to say that could help the buyer and sufferer, it is well hidden within the book, if so. Not that he/she should give up, but please find a competent assistant, and write your own views. Thank you for giving me a chance to review one of Amazons books.
Still waiting for answers........1999-09-01
This book touts "Treatment and Relief for Cluster, Cluster Migraine, and Recurring Eye-Stab Pain," but gives little clinical information. Instead, this book offers a few paragraphs of medical observation, followed by dozens of statements made by unidentified sufferers; covering symptoms, triggers, treatment and relief (which Cluster Headache sufferers know is still impossible). I've been waiting years for conclusive information on this excruciating condition. Reading page after page of complaints similar to my own nearly triggered another cluster headache! "Three stars" because I finally saw my crazy symptoms in print and know I'm not alone. Buy this book for emotional support, or to educate others about the condition. Don't buy it to be wowed by recent medical insight and advances.

Book Description
Outwitting Headaches provides all the information needed to stop headaches in their tracks and, better yet, to avoid or prevent them entirely.
After a lifetime of suffering from splitting migraine headaches that were merely aggravated by attempts to subdue them with prescription drugs, Mark Wiley had had enough pain and frustration. He set out on a fifteen-year quest to research all the methods available for treating headaches. Working by personal experience through all the Western pharmaceuticals, all the useless psychotherapy, and all the alternative therapies of the month, he moved on in desperation to Asia to test the traditional remedies of Chinese and other indigenous medicinal traditions. His travels took him to the mountains of Malaysia, the barrios of the Philippines, and back-alley healers of Japan, Singapore, and Taiwan. He tried bone setters, shamans, faith healers, acupuncturists, qigong masters, energy healers, herbalists, and massage therapists. He studied and practiced various mind-body methods of qigong, yoga, meditation, and martial arts.
Nothing worked-at least, not for long. The headaches still struck with the sudden savage fury of a lightning bolt. Then, at long last, like Newton and Archimedes, Mark had his Eureka! moment. And, of course, it was simple and self-evident. The key to ending suffering from headaches is proactive avoidance of causes rather than reactive treatment of symptoms.
Outwitting Headaches sets out systematically the noninvasive methods Mark has developed to avoid the chemicals, drugs, drinks, foods, and even behaviors that serve as triggers for headaches, while removing from the personal environment as many of the immediate causes of headache as possible. In addition, this book teaches how to quickly restore the balance necessary to live headache free when there is inadvertent exposure to triggers or causes.
Customer Reviews:
Healing within easy reach.......2004-09-14
Mark Wiley's book on Outwitting Headaches is transformative. Without even finishing the book, I've already been able to begin overcoming headaches and those things that trigger them. I can now easily envision a life not only without headaches, but also a body more healthy because it is less gunked up by medicines, chemicals, and stress. He presents a cure for the head and the whole body that is within easy reach of our own hands.
Outwitting Headaches Works!.......2004-09-03
Very few people have suffered through a worse case history of lifelong "skull melting" headaches than Mark Wiley; and nobody I'm aware of has gone farther afield, into every corner of the planet, to research possible medical relief. This definitive book is driven by both his urgent personal need to STOP THE PAIN, and by Wiley's massive learning in Eastern and Western medicine. The regimen he promotes WORKS. This is the last anti-headache book you will ever need.
Self-Help for headaches that work.......2004-09-02
I received this book a few weeks ago and since then I have outwitted several headaches. The headaches I get are usually mild but my girlfriend had a series of very intense headaches. Using the techniques in the book, we were able to manage the pain and prevent them from returning. It is a quick read with very practical advice.

Fighter Wing by Tom Clancy.......2007-09-19
This is an excellent in-depth view of how our USAF is run. The capabilities of our aircraft. If you enjoy military non-fiction then you'll love this book.
Great Tour.......2007-05-13
Loved the way this book was written. You really get a sense of what being in that FW is really like. Im already in the Air Force, but for me it was a nice look from the outside in, and getting to know the history of the unit, what action they have seen, and where the Air Force is heading. Great information and a great tour!!
Fighter Wing: An updated Cold War History.......2004-04-06
In the updated and expanded version,Tom Clancy goes into great detail of why air superiority was and remains key to U.S. armed forces. For instance, the f-15 originally developed to combat Russian Migs, is now becoming obsolete. Third World contries can now rival the fighter. This is now why the U.S. developed the f-22. The radically advanced fighter has stealth, advanced avionics, and radar. This was SUPPOSED to fight new Migs and Sokui aircraft, but the Cold War ended. With Russia as our ally the U.S. has endured many cuts an reformation of airforces. Why hasn't the f-22 replaced the f-15? Why has the b-2 not become the U.S.'s primary bomber? This is a must read for all those interested in answers to these questions. Plus, analysis on why the U.S. is developing the Joint Strike Fighter!
Off we go into the wild blue with Clancy and Gresham...........2003-09-30
The third book in The Guided Tour series, Fighter Wing is a non-fiction book devoted to an Air Force Composite Wing. (Why it's called "Fighter Wing" escapes me, since the 366th Wing includes a wide range of combat aircraft!) Like the other books in this seven-volume series, Fighter Wing gives the readers a reasonably interesting look at the U.S. Air Force since its restructuring in the early 1990s. Here, for instance, is where I found out the Air Force had renamed its major commands; Strategic Air Command (which controlled the bombers, particularly the B-1, B-2, FB-111, and B-52 aircraft) and Tactical Air Command (which controlled the smaller fighters and fighter-bombers) merged and became Air Combat Command.
The book discusses the theory and history of air power, the training of the men and women who fly for the Air Force, and, of course, the planes and weapons of a typical Composite Wing. As in most of the books in the Guided Tour series, photographs, graphics, an interview with a senior flag officer, and a fictional scenario depicting the combat roles of a Composite Wing are included.
The book is informative without getting too technical, and one comes away with a bit more inside information about how the modern Air Force works.
Not a Smooth Landing.......2003-02-28
If you have read any of the other books in the series then you know what to expect with this one. The book follows the familiar format, it details out the machinery used, the troops, the division make up of the topic in the armed forces, a few interviews and it ends with some fictionalized short stories describing the expected types of encounters this area would face in the future. All in all a basic book on a fighter wing that gives you all the basics. The Clancy style of writing, lots of facts and plodding movement work well in this type of book given that you buy it to learn about the subject.
Overall it is a good effort and if you have been happy with the other books in the series you will enjoy this one. My only complaints were that there did not seam to be enough photos of the equipment for me. Sure they had all the main items, but I wanted a picture of every jet covered in the book. I also would have liked to have seen a comparison of the other counties main combat fighters - something he did with his Submarine and Aircraft Carrier books. I was also disappointed in that he did not cover all the Air Force equipment, missing were the A10 and B52 to name a few. And one last little complaint - what was with his ending every chapter with some junior high school type rah-rah cheer. We are talking about the military; do we need this type of comic book love-fest mentality?
