Book Description
Revisit a classic D&D adventure, now expanded and updated!
Expedition to Castle Ravenloft is a 224-page D&D adventure that harkens back to classic 1st-edition adventure, Ravenloft. This adventure expands on the original adventure, introduces some never-before-seen threats. It also features a new encounter format designed to make running the adventure easier for the Dungeon Master. This new layout includes such details as more graphics and readily available stat blocks, both of which can shorten prep time and gameplay.

A HUGE time saver!.......2007-08-19
First off, I must give WTOC a big round of applause for this module format. I typically run home-grown stuff, but with a demanding career I haven't had the time to prepare much in the way of a good game. As a result, we haven't gamed as much as I would like.
With the addition of this adventure to my library I have been able to read this while on a plane, and be prepared to run it when I land. The encounter pages are laid out BEAUTIFULLY, I love the stat blocks, and the maps/visuals are to die for.
I HIGHLY recommend this module for anyone having difficulty finding the time to prepare!
Great Book.......2007-05-20
This is an incredible adventure. Normally I am a little hesitant to buy a pre-made adventure, but this one is worth every cent. The new format in this book is a very handy feature, providing everything you need to know about the encounter in two pages. Wonderful formatting and maps. This is such a customizable adventure that it fits anywhere. It is reccomended that you buy Three Dragon Ante (Dungeon & Dragons) as well, because there is one part that these could be used. If you don't want to buy this, ordinary playing cards work just as well.
From the story aspect, this has an interesting plot. The adventure can be played multiple times with PCs finding out more things every time.
I look forward to more Expedition books!
Not as much atmosphere as the original adventure but a nice 3.5 adaptation.......2007-05-19
This is a very good adventure. It does not rival the original in terms of atmosphere but is a really nice 3.5 adaptation, with lots of new material also.
It is a much better work than the first revision of the original Ravenloft (House of Strahd for the 2nd Edition).
My only complain with this book is that it does not contain a full map of the Castle as in the original and the earlier version. Since this book even mentions that one of the groundbreaking features in the original Ravenloft was the classic Castle Ravenloft map, I would expect that it would contain a full two-page map of the Castle. It does not, though. It only contains small maps of each level, so you never get to see the Castle in all its glory. For me, it does not present a great problem since I own both the original Ravenloft and House of Strahd, but I would expect that it detracts from the adventure for people who only have this book.
Other than that, it is really surprisingly good.
It won't get 5 stars, in my opinion, because of the map issue.
Good story, poor layout.......2007-05-18
The overall story and possibilities of game play are tremendous in this book, however actually using the encounters is extremely difficult. First, there are monsters from various sources. It would have been nice if the book told you which books they came from. This also includes feats and prestige classes. Next, the encounters are hard to follow. You have to flip back and forth between the area description and the encounter descriptions which could be 20 pages apart. Also, the maps do not flow well. It is often hard to figure out where a character ends up when they go up or down a stairwell. The maps are not clear. A large poster map would have been much better. For running the adventure, the book is rather mediocre, but for future or outside stories and the feel of the original, it does a pretty decent job. There should have been a better description of taint and depravity, as it would be a great addition and players and DMs may not have access to or familiarity with the Heroes of Horror supplement.
Awesome.......2007-04-18
An amazing book. I'm a beginning DM and it lays everything out for you in the new encounter format pretty much as straightforward as possible. Here are the stat blocks for the monsters, here are their places in the encounter, here is how they act. Also very handy that they provide useful information about how to adapt the game to span any desirable length between a one-shot Halloween adventure to an entire full-blown campaign. If you like horror movies or halloween you will love this adventure. It's got everything you want in terms of zombies, witches, werewolves and of course, vampires.

Book Review.......2006-05-27
I think this book should get an average grade ("C"). I think this because, when I read the book, it didn't have me thinking what was going to happen next. I think this book is too obvious for me. But for the people who like to know what's going to happen, they would like this book. I think this book is more for kids who have their parents read to them. I give this book a "C". In the book, Dink, Josh, and Ruth Rose go on a trip to a castle. They are all exited, but then, Ruth Rose discovers a Dungeon filled with dead animals. Through out the story, the three smart children try to figure what it is from. The rest is for the reader to figure out.
Excellent!.......2000-06-18
This book is very good! In this book, Dink, Josh, and Ruth Rose visit Wallis Wallice in Maine. Dink, Josh and Ruth Rose go lobstering, have a picnic, find a cave, and something else.
Just the right amount of mystery and intrigue!.......1999-04-02
Dink, Josh, and Ruth Rose visit an old castle on the coast of Maine and set out to discover what is making the screeching sounds which everyone believes to be a ghost! Along the way they run into flickering lights after dark, a secret underground passage and a dangerous, water-filled cave.
My 5-year old kept flipping back to study the map and wouldn't let me stop!

Good book, available free online.......1998-02-24
I realy enjoyed this book, good resource for most players. The book is available online free from TSR's homepage. Good luck in finding it.
Great Book! Only one problem..........1997-05-19
THE book for all who wish to build castles in the ADND world. With complete instructions for building your castle from the conception stage to the random encounters whilst building it. Numerous examples are evident, and there are even sections on the history of castles, chilvary, and even special racial castles are included. There is only one problem ... and this is that the entire book is available in electronic form (scanned & OCR'ed), from the TSR Inc. homepage at:
www.TSRInc.com/Games/ADND/Core/Scanned/DMGR2/CASTLE.ZIP

Lighten up! :P.......2000-10-21
This is definately NOT your average adventure. It's fun and exciting. You can't predict what's coming next because it is all so off the wall. It's a welcome change to all the adventures where you are out to save the world and battling dragons and other monsters. This is a light-hearted adventure with fun in mind. I have NEVER had so much fun gaming as had with this adventure, and I have never laughed so hard in my life.
This has been the best adventure I have ever seen. I am still in the middle of it, and will be quite sad when it's over. I only wish there were more like it.
Spoof based on Greyhawk Ruins.......2000-07-13
AVOID THIS PRODUCT
I accidentally got this adventure thinking it was WGR1 Greyhawk Ruins. What a surprise. The whole adventure is one bad joke after another. AND I DO MEAN BAD. I can't believe even TSR would publish such a piece of worthless trash!
Well if you get a chance WGR1 Greyhawk Ruins is a pretty cool module, but extremely hard.
Rubbish for the humour-challenged.......1998-11-02
This is simply a huge dungeon with so-called "hilarious" levels in it. Have fun fighting Col. Sanders, one-horned ducks, Dr Who and other "hilarious" stuff. I have no idea why T$R published this.
Book Description
Mandy and her best friend James are used to dealing with animals in distress. But ghostly animals in distress are a different matter...Skelton Castle has always had a faithful deerhound to protect its family and grounds. But Aminta, the last of the line, died a short while ago. So when Mandy and James explore the creepy castle, the last thing they expect to find is a deerhound - especially one that looks just like Aminta. Could it possibly be her? What could she want from Mandy and James?

The best read in ages.......2004-11-25
My daughter could not stop reading this book once she had started. She loved the characters and the animals. A great holiday gift.
What fun!.......2003-03-14
I was forced to read this book for a children's literature class. Boy was I glad I had to read it!
First, it is not as cheesy as the cover makes it look. It is very fun, and kids will love it. The characters are smart, and they inspire kids to be smart, too.
I also liked how the book showed positive morals and that people need to love each other and promote positivity instead of negative attitudes.
What a GREAT book!
The best Animal Ark there is.......2002-08-03
This book has all the normal Animal Ark characters, animals in distress etc., but there is also a superb castle/dungeon type plot that all kids will love.
The characters in this book are well done.
My kids couldn't put it down.

Solo Adventures - A Good Concept?.......2006-07-04
"The Ghost of Lion Castle" represents the first of many attempts in the 1980s TSR tried to develop--with dubious success--a solo adventure. This adventure is structured like a `Choose Your Own Adventure' book. At each lettered/numbered entry the player has options, which, in turn, lead to more options. Then you succeed or perish, but you can always start over. The player starts by choosing one of the pregenerated characters in the back of the book. He (or she as it may be) set about finding what secrets are hidden in Lion Castle--which is a castle shaped like the Great Sphinx in Egypt. The adventure is fairly straightforward with few surprises.
Solo adventures--what can I say. You like them or you don't. But, for the life of me, I'm not sure why TSR spent so much time and effort developing these types of products.
Great solo adventure, similar to Sorcery! / Fighting Fantasy.......2000-04-30
Here's one of the best solo adventures ever made by TSR - Merle Rasmussen, of Top Secret fame, has scripted a devious plot in a surprisingly huge castle... in ages past, the great wizard Sargon created an enormous stronghold of untold majesty. Now, you dare to delve into the ruins, facing werebeasts, spiders, stirges, orcs, and the ghost himself in search of an accursed treasure... a wonderful story, very well told; excellent practice for those nights when you can't get a gaming group together!

Welcome to Undermountain.......2000-05-02
In the mood for a classic dungeon crawl? This module doesn't pretend to be anything else - and in defining its limitations, it does what it intends to do, with excellence! Return to the hell of Undermountain - the fell sorcerer, Maddgoth, ruler of demons, awaits you. It is one of the few totally unexplored sections of the super-dungeon, because no one has ever returned alive! Will you be the first? A great adventure for levels 7-10.
Book Description
An Adventure for Character Levels 12-14 Remember the good old days, when adventures were underground, NPCs were there to be killed, and the finale of every dungeon was the dragon on the 20th level? Those days are back. Dungeon Crawl Classics don't waste your time with long-winded speeches, weird campaign settings, or NPCs who aren't meant to be killed. Each adventure is 100% good, solid dungeon crawl, with the monsters you know, the traps you fear, and the secret doors you know are there somewhere.
The coastal town of Argalis has been struck by three gale-force hurricanes in the last three weeks. While the first two storms succeeded in devastating the town, the final added insult to injury by destroying more lives than property. Argalis' leaders know a local storm giant called Stozari Stormbringer sent the hurricanes against them for failure to pay her annual "good weather" tribute. Argalis' leaders want an end to the storms, and they've decided the best solution is to eliminate the giantess herself. They need heroes willing to storm her castle and kill this storm tyrant once and for all!
This world-neutral, stand-alone adventure is completely new, not a reprint. It uses the 3.5 edition of the d20 rules set, and is fully compatible with the world's most popular role playing game.

Classic D&D At Its Weakest.......2006-07-04
"Castle Caldwell and Beyond" is not one adventure, but five short adventures of increasing difficulty. Finishing one adventure sets up the PCs for the next. Adventures include clearing Castle Caldwell, clearing the dungeons below; rescuing an abducted princess; a prison break scenario (this requires some railroading to get the PCs captured); and following a treasure map to a fortress.
This module presents a set of fairly weak and uninspired adventures. Creatures and setting are bland. Vague references to NPCs personality and motivations lend little depth to any potential storylines. Caldwell lacks a cohesive element that would help pull all the adventures into an interesting, climatic finale.
Another problem I have with this adventure lies in gaming aesthetics. The names of NPCs are amateurishly dull: Clifton Caldwell, Princess Sylvia (actually, I can't believe that they put a cliché like the ol' abducted princess story in a D&D adventure), Prince Frederick, and so forth. C'mon guys, how's `bout some imagination.
Finally, who is the real author of this adventure? The author given has a name that is a pun ("hairy knuckles"). It is interesting that the castle is called "Caldwell" and that the cover artist is Clyde Caldwell. Possibly a link?
5 mini-adventures.......2002-05-24
A five mini-adventures compilation, all are played independently. Only the first two have some connection. It is used as introductory modules for casual players, who don't want to spend much time on D&D. For serious and continuous players, it can only be use when they are too busy to spend much time to play D&D at that day, or their characters need to gain sufficient experience and money before they go for another great adventure. Some of the adventures are quite easy to finish and some of them are rather difficult. Adventures are Fair to Good.
Old Style Hack-and-Slash /w disconnected plots?.......2000-06-01
This adventure is quite bland in the begining and doesn't get much better. It consists of 5 different parts, but the first two parts don't really go along with the rest of the module. This isn't too terrible as the adventures can be played separately if you need something to get started up fast or just want give some characters some experience.

Collaboratively compiled and written by Rondi Hillstrom Davis and Janell Sewall Oakes, Together: Creating Family Traditions is a 131-page compilation of fun activities for adults and kids to undertake together, all splendidly illustrated with full color photography. Holiday themes are spotlighted in this delightful guide to making homemade paper, granola, gingerbread man garlands, and so much more. Enthusiastically recommended for parents seeking to bond with their children, Together: Creating Family Traditions is a simply wonderful, thoroughly "user friendly" activities how-to book which the entire family can enjoy -- from generation to generation.
One Stop Shopping with this Wonderful Book!.......2002-04-04
It seems like everyone I know is either getting married or starting a family this year. I love Together: Creating Family Traditions. It's the perfect bridal shower / baby shower gift, as it covers everything from creative ideas to recipes to family journaling. (The recipes for mom's blueberry muffins and Grandmother Borland's cookies are yummy!) The pictures are vivid and beautiful, the prose is thought-provoking and tenderly written, and the little touches, like the satin ribbon bookmark, are just lovely. I bought multiple copies to give as gifts, and have received a bevy of ecstatic thank-you notes from brides-to-be and mothers-to-be.
A gem...........2002-04-04
What a great find...I was given this book as a gift and I can't wait to try these projects and recipes with my nieces and nephews. Not only is this filled with beautiful pictures and a joy to look through, but when reading it, I couldn't help but recall memories from my own childhood. I especially like the fact that the projects are for children of all ages, this book is for everyone! I highly recommend "Together"...it makes a wonderful gift, and I know that first hand. This book definitely stands out from any others I have come across!
Every Family Should Own This Book.......2002-04-03
A delightful book, it brought back memories of my own life as a child, and made me wish I had shared more time "together" with my young nieces then I too, could have shared in a cherry pie eating contest. I would have been right in there, face first along with them! Simply precious.
