I bought the book in hopes of learning how to properly maintain my houseplants. There was a wealth of information and simple easy to understand language!
Great beginner's book.......2005-06-20
As a very novice gardener, I needed a book that covered the basic of houseplant care. Well, this is it. I especially like the fact that it is full of color photos.
The first third of this book is dedicated to plant care: light, water, temperature, air, humidiry, potting, propagation, etc.
The last two third is the Galery of Houseplants, which lists lots of plants, how to care for them. I was able to find all the plants I already had in my house, and even found ones that I had no idea what they were.

As a novice gardener I've perused a lot of books and usually they're either really wordy, use terms that a college professor might, or just don't quite have what I need. This book is a really nice overview of everything related to indoor gardening, with lots of photos to explain what they're talking about or doing. I especially love a photographic section on plant problems, diseases and bugs - a lot of the books out there 'explain' what to look for while this one actually shows an afflicted plant. I recommend this book for anyone who's looking to get further into the indoor plants (without actually looking for a degree...).

My family found a number of fun projects in this book. We'd been thinking about ways to accent our flower beds and found useful project in this book. We created some different birdhouses as well as a few paths throughout the garden. We very pleased with the results.

Disappointed.......2002-06-19
Although beautifully illustrated, this book was a disappointment to me. I am a beginner when it comes to flowers and plants, and expected this title to have somewhat detailed information on how to actually take care of the plants, flowers, herbs and vegetables described therein, once they have been planted in a container. The book does not. Instead it provides somewhat general instructions on how to prepare a container for use with a plant, then shows how to arrange the plant in the container. After that, you're pretty much on your own.
Add to this the fact that this is a British publication. Not normally an issue, but in this case some of the terms and products used in the guide are unknown here in the US, and therefore it is not easy to follow the directions or understand what the author is trying to tell me to do.
Overall, it is a nice little volume if you already know a bit about gardening in general and just want some pointers on using containers. However, a beginner such as I will not benefit greatly from it. I'll probably return the book.
Excellent Resource for Balcony Gardens.......2002-03-14
Living in an apartment with only a balcony limits what one can grow. This book has beautiful ideas for such conditions and it is really well put together. The step by step instructions with pictures are excellent. Great book!

This is a great book for people interested in obtaining a great looking garden without being an expert. The use of photography and the step by step instructions make this book very easy to follow.
Not being a gardener myself I find that this book makes me want to give it a try. If I can do anybody can. Buy the book you won't be disappointed.

Inspirational Container Gardening.......1999-12-18
The Contained Garden is a delightful, thorough study of container gardening. It includes wonderful sketches and many artistic photographs. I was most struck by how the book inspired me to think 'outside the box'. A large array of container shapes and sizes are included as possibilities. A full description of container requirements for many, many plants is included. There are many more plants,shrubs and small trees that do well in containers than I ever imagined.

I looked for this book on Amazon.com because, of all the many library books I have checked out to research my new, small, greenhouse business, this was the one so densely packed with useful information that I feel I should own it. If there are better books out there for a new grower like me, I wish I knew what they were! As I am planning to be certified organic, I appreciated that this book, although conventional in it's treatment of chemical use, also expressed the concerns for human safety and for the environment that all growers who do use chemicals should be aware of. The details about individual plants, container sizes, and sample planting to marketing dates are invaluable. I was beginning to think they were industry secrets since no other book provided them. I also appreciated the clear and concise writing.
Where's the beef?.......1999-01-02
Same old growing info, nothing about marketing plants or about preserving the enviorment. Its promotions state a enviormental friendly book, could not figure this one out , it seems to have used this to promote this well written book,. Note-- one magazine ad says, this companys name is the Enviormental Press, ( REAL NAME Admire Press) but not one metion of the enviorment in this book. Lots of the same growing info found in library, no good greenhouse pictures, all seem to be 20 years old.

It's big, it's colorful, and it's got everything from your gallbladder and heart to your muscles, bones, blood and brain. Clear and helpful diagrams detail conditions from acne to malignant melanoma. This is a reassuring, easily understood text on our bodies as they exist in their ideal state, as well as common disorders and treatments. It's nice to brush up on anatomy without tests to sweat, but it's also great to have a doctor on your shelf to dispel those 3 a.m. certainties of imminent disease and doom.

I ordered a human body book as shown above but received a book in same title but in different cover with a single human body only. I am not sure they are the same book with same illustration and description although the book talks about human body. Therefore, I don't think it is approrpriate for me to give a review on the book that I received.

The book is well organized, language is simple, all pictures are well worked on and includes the most of the things that ordinary people want to know. 'Perfect' is the best word to decribe it.

I bought this for a friend who loves things like this, but before I sent it off to him I took a look at it myself. I thought this was the perfect book for anybody that really wants details about what goes on inside ourselves. It has great full color diagrams and tons of information. A great pick!

Great book. For those who are just interested in anatomy will be perfect and should be enough, but medical students would rather use it as a wonderfully colored and easy to read supplement. It's small size, you can keep it in your purse and read anywhere. The best value of that book are colored photos and illustrations with detailed explanations that everybody will undurstand. I personally loved it.

I am currently pursuing a degree in Medical Transcription and an instructor recommended this book.
This book is great. It is small and compact. You can carry it with you anywhere and it fits easily into a backpack. There is so much information in this little. It is written in a way that is clear and concise and easy to understand.
This book has come in very handy. Not only in my Transcription work, but also in some of my other classes. I definitely plan on taking this little book with me when I start my internship and job in Medical Transcription. This is a great resource to have. I highly recommend this book to others.
