Book Description
Clean, healthful, sparkling water - that's what a backyard swimming pool is all about. Professional pool maintenance crews can keep a swimming pool clean and its water crystal clear, but they cost a small fortune. Yet many pool owners who try the do-it-yourself approach find themselves plagued by a host of troubles. Cloudy water. Algae sprouting on the pool's walls and bottom. Pumps, pipes, and other equipment that corrode and deteriorate at an alarming rate. Funky odors.
That's where WHAT COLOR IS YOUR SWIMMING POOL? steps in. This classic time-tested resource for pool owners is back in a completely rewritten edition and with a new author. Alan E. Sanderfoot has updated the text to spotlight the latest swimming pool technology and has greatly expanded the range of information about hot tubs and spas.
This easy-to-use, easy-to-understand resource teaches pool owners everything they need to know about keeping a pool or spa beautiful and healthful. Sanderfoot starts with basics: water treatment and filtration systems. Then he moves on to the nitty gritty of how to select and care for filters, pumps, motors, and heaters. He explains the best way to clean a pool, how to make minor repairs yourself, and what to look for in pool covers and such pool accessories as automatic water monitors.
You'll find step-by-step directions for winterizing a pool, and for opening it up again in the spring. There is even a chapter on inexpensive things the owner can do to give the pool a face-lift. WHAT COLOR IS YOUR SWIMMING POOL? demonstrates how a little investment of time throughout the swimming pool season can prevent major problems and expenses down the road.

Customer Reviews:
Very Pleasing.......2007-05-01
I bought this book not to color in, but as a source for clear line drawings of flowers to use in other design work. It works very well for that, with nice, unfussy illustrations of the flowers. Just as important as the blooms, the leaves and stems are also accurately rendered. There is very little addition (birds, butterflies, etc.) - that's fine with me, but some users might want a more detailed picture to color. The small colored guide pic's are apparently done in colored pencil, and provide a lot of detail for realistic coloration.
My one reservation is that some of the illustrations don't show the blooms full-on, but only in profile and 3/4 views. I always want to be able to see how the center of a flower is constructed. Overall, though, very nice.
A Gardeners Must Have.......2007-04-11
Whther your thumb is green or black you cannot go wrong with this. I just purchased these Dover COloring Books for my mother and she loves them. The detail is out of this world and the variety of colors you can use are only limited by your inagination. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Great for Elderly or Alzheimers Patients .......2007-03-16
I purchased this coloring book for my grandmother who has Alzheimer's. It helps her feel as if she is accomplishing something and also she is using her mind and hands to stay in the lines. It's an ideal coloring book for anyone who wishes to color like they use to.
Love to color and learn.......2006-11-04
My daughter has enjoyed learning the names of different flowers and then coloring them. She remembers them more because she has a chance to color them. We also use the internet to look up the different flowers and learn more about them and what colors they are. She enjoys this also and it helps her to create her masterpiece.
Garden Flowers Coloring Book.......2002-07-15
Thank you Amazon for carrying a wonderful selection of Stefen Bernath's books!! I use this particular book, by Stefen as a guide for watercolour sketching and painting. Garden Flowers contains a collection of more than thirty common flowers showing detailed shape and colour, including colour guilds that can be referred to for accuracy. An excellent reference book.
Customer Reviews:
Two books in one, neither especially effective.......2005-03-23
Although it isn't immediately apparent from a flip through the book, Decorating With Color has two sections. The first, on applying color theory, is pretty good, and made me want to learn more. Ah, I thought. Now that I have the basics, the rest of the book will go into the subject in more depth.
But it didn't work that way. Instead of extending the initial overview (which covers the effects of different color palettes on decorating rooms), the second section switches into an introduction to faux finishes and how to apply them. That's very nice, but it it's no longer about decorating with color; it's now about decorating with paint.
More formally, the sections of the book include: A sense of color; the color palette; color effects in your home (which sounds like color theory but the first subhead is "quick paint effects"); color and style (primarily the use of stencils).
I took the book out the library, so I'm happy to have picked up the bit of wisdom this book had to impart. However, I suspect there are much better books out there to serve my initial impulse: to learn how to choose colors for my new home.
excellent resource for faux!.......2003-06-24
I have dozens of books on faux and color theory. This book is the best one. It combines both subjects. It covers the different faux techniques as well as how to apply color. The photos of finished rooms are great, and the photos of each step make learning very easy. Even though I am a professional decorative painter, I still am learning more from this book.
Product Description
America's leading color expert shows how to choose the right color combinations for all your rooms based on Color Moods from your own personality, nature, and travel. Most decorating books start out telling readers how to achieve someone else's notion of how a room should look. This book is different. It helps you determine how you want yourself, your family, and your friends to feel when entering each room in your home. It combines psychology with a practical how-to and reveals which colors and color combinations will achieve the feeling and personal style you want to project in each room.

A book of inspiration for the perennial gardener.......1997-05-11
I have pored over the pages of this book and learned volumes from it. Hobhouse's discussion of color theory and its relationship to the garden is a revelation, and her suggestions and illustrations of garden companions are inspirational.
When you get serious about designing your borders, this is essential reading.
Book Description
Color Your Garden is an invaluable source of inspiration and reference for all gardeners who wish to master the use of color. An artist before she became a garden designer, author Jill Billington's skill in explaining the use of color in planting design is unmatched. Practical guidance is provided on using color in different ways-from bringing harmony and balance to the garden and creating its main focus to spicing the garden up by introducing deliberate contrast. Gardeners are given suggestions on how to group together a variety of plants when planning beds and using them as a border. This guide shows how to best use color to suit the personality of the gardener, and detailed illustrations capture the essence of different moods, based on planting designs using cool, calm pastels or vibrant, vivacious hues. Every page offers beautiful photographs, many of them specially commissioned, offering a continual source of inspiration and showing the rich variety of stunning effects that can be achieved in your garden through the use of color.
Customer Reviews:
A beautifully-done guide .......2005-03-06
Every gardener wishes for a colorful garden, but many controversies surround building one. Author Jill Billington was an artist before she became a garden designer, so she comes from a different perspective than most gardening books provide, matching an eye for color with planting design details. Her love of plants blends well with an artist's eye and provides a beautifully-done guide in Color Your Garden that is very highly recommended for gardeners and landscapers from novice beginners to seasoned professionals.

Decorating with the SEASONS in mind..........2007-07-26
This BETTER HOMES book is photographed beautifully, as are all the Better Homes books.
This is a hardback book that will hold-up for years to come. The author has the reader take a quick test to see which SEASON the reader is closest to. Then the author shows photos of how each Season-personality decorator can enhance their favorite style. Also, since many people are a combination of two styles, the author gives ideas on how to blend two styles at once---in harmony.
This book is mostly photos that will inspire. It is easy to follow & read. It incorporated some modern styles and some more classic cottage styles.

Worlds without end- human potential without limit.......2004-07-07
Jay Vickers was an ordinary man, or so he thought. All he wanted was to be left in peace to finish his next book. However, strange things started happening- from his discovery of a mouse that was not a mouse, to the visit of an old neighbor that was not a man. Or at least he was not an ordinary man. For as it turned out, neither was Jay Vickers.
This is the story of human mutation- the next step in the evolution of the species. What if mutants walked among us already? What if they were organized? What if they had unbelievable powers, such as the ability to cross between alternate worlds or dimensions at will, or to intuitively reach the absolutely correct answer by intuition or "hunch", or to telepathically reach out to the stars? Such supermen would automatically try to conquer lesser men, would they not? Or would they do everything in their power to free the rest of humanity from slavery and suffering? Just what would the political and corporate powers- that- be do to keep their power and their slaves? How would mutants undermine the power of these bosses to set mankind free?
This is a story of unlimited freedom, of worlds without end, ready for the taking. It is also the story of powerful, benevolent beings that exist only to help those who need that help. Simak sets this optimism off against the far-flung future- of 1987. This is a future of a lop-sided mechanical culture of technology that could provide creature comfort for a few, but not human justice or security for the many. It is a future of hate, and war, and worry. Nothing like the way the world really turned out....
Years ago when I first read this novel the uncanny "coincidences" with my own life gave me chills.
But then, there couldn't really be an underground of mutants working to free humanity... could there?
exciting novel.......2003-09-02
I read ring around the sun years ago and as a translation in my native language, Dutch. The story is gripping and with an unexpected twist. Mr. Simak brings you back to the time when he wrote this story: the fifties. The story encompasses many aspects of its time: the luxury items people surround themselves with, the cold war starting, the big brother watching you idea and the latest trends in Science in those days: quantum technology and the believe of some scientists that there is a paralel universe. After I read Michael Crighton's Timeline I noticed the similarities in the topic. Crichton also references a book that goes deep into the topic: The Fabric of Reality by David Deutsch.
Mr. Simak build a good story around these topics and Ring around the sun is a must read for Science Fiction fans.
A wonderous book that I need to read again........1999-02-27
I read this Simak offering so many years ago that I honestly can't recall how long it's been. All I know is that I really NEED to read it again. Simak was one of my all-time favorite SF writers. It helped in no small way that he lived and worked in my hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and that his fictional settings were so familiar to me because he wrote of places I could see just down the road. His gentleness, good humor and his graceful way of writing only endeared him to me more. Please, Mr. Publisher, see your way clear to reissuing this grand old piece of fine science fiction!
A unique thriller with one hell of a twist........1998-08-24
Once again Clifford D. Simak shows us the depth of his imagination. Drawing you in to a very familiar world, with superbly crafted charters and Simak's cosy style. Then when he has you where he wants, you suddenly, along with his charters, realize that things are not as they seem. Then you get to see why Simak is one of the most unique and imaginative authors ever. He is able to open the limits of human possibility in ways that few others explore. This story is the story of one very ordinary man and his role in events that change the world. This is a common Simak theme. Simak's heroes are heroes in the way that any of us could be heroes in the right circumstances, not supermen. Like many Simak books this will leave you thinking and enriched.
Good writing, interesting ideas........1998-08-24
Deals with the problem of how human mutants, superior to their fellows, might seek to bring about a better world. Simak offers many interesting ideas and a good overall plot, but the book has a bit of a cardboard, comic-booky feeling to me, with the characters and their actions and dialogue a little cliched. Entertaining, but I don't think it is as good as his "Way Station."
