Customer Reviews:
Useful! Keeps my wedding pieces together..........2007-05-07
I bought this pretty early on when I was not sure WHAT I would or wouldn't be needing. My first wedding, no wedding planner hired and I ending up liking this. It has thick clear plastic pockets you can put samples of everything in (linens, dress colors, biz cards) and that comes in handy. Helps with some questions you should ask vendors if you don't know the basics (which I did not - so this and the internet)... and give you extra papers for words/ideas.... just half way through planning now and I am still using it. Its a good way to keep ideas, papers, samples, EVERYTHING kept together in a very pretty binder. (Plus if you get stressed and you dont want to think about it for a few days it hides away nicely too...)
Pretty good book.........2007-01-12
This book has some pretty good ideas for planning a wedding but nothing you won't come across in just planning alone. The binder is helpful to keep things organized.
Looked far and Wide.......2006-02-09
I looked thorugh every bookstore and website for the perfect wedding planner. If you want a "How-to" this may not be the planner for you, but if you want lots of room to doodle, take notes, good worksheets and pockets, this is perfect. I also like the 3-ring design, I have added a lot of pages so far, any three hole punch will adjust to fit this binder. All I could have asked for!

Customer Reviews:
It's okay..........2007-01-11
I bought two wedding planners and this is the one that I've been using the least. It does have really good sized pockets in the divider of each section. It has gorgeous pictures in it and as the wedding date draws closer (we still have nine months), it's quite possible I'll use this one more.
This book does have a business card holder and so far that's the part I've used the most.
Fast.......2007-01-09
I received this product very fast and my sister absolutely loves it. It was a great gift for her.
Just Awesome.......2006-10-03
This planner is WONDERFUL. I got married just a few months ago, so I know how hectic it can be. I ordered this as a gift for a co-worker and she loves it. This is great because it has big pockets to store papers and things, tons of pictures of flowers, cakes, reception ideas, etc. The flower directory is teriffic. This planner covers everything right down to the last detail. After planning my own wedding, I wish I had had this planner! The best you can get.
Very helpful information but..........2006-07-24
I was very pleased with all the helpful information this wedding planner has but was very disappointed when it fell apart two days after giving it to my son's fiance as a gift. I was very embarassed to say the least. We are not returning it because she has started writing a lot of information in it so she has put it in a three-ring binder. I just want to warn other buyers about this product. I'm sure there are other books that contain just as much information as this one but won't fall apart.
Seems like it will be helpful........2006-03-07
I bought this as an engagement present for my best friends and gave it to them the day after they got engaged. It has a great deal of content and even if they don't end up using the worksheets, it's still fun for them to look at. The book itself was a little beat up (some of the divider tabs were creased, some dents on the cover) so it might be better to buy it at a store where you can see the actual book and content first.

The Knot Ultimate Wedding Planner: Worksheets, Checklists, Etiquette, Calendars, and Answers to Frequently Asked Questions
ASIN: 0811825523 |
Book Description
Your Wedding Organizer is a one-stop resource for brides (and grooms) to be. This three-in-one portfolio takes the trial out of planning a wedding and puts the triumph back in. Your Wedding Organizer is just that: an organizer that can be folded up and toted around in a purse or briefcase. It includes three sections: a timeline, a planner, and a project book, all easily removed to be consulted singly or stowed in the organizer. The foldaway timeline provides an at-a-glance reference and wedding day countdown to keep the busy bride on track. With space to jot down notes and ideas and over 50 check boxes of what to do next, she won't forget a thing. The planner is a comprehensive guide to anything and everything wedding-related. From choosing the appropriate stationery to tossing the bouquet to planning accommodations for out-of-town guests, this book covers it all. The project portfolio offers suggestions on giving the wedding a more personal touch, including creative ideas for everything from cakes to attendants' gifts, with clearly written instructions and step-by-step photographs. Concise and easy to read, the project portfolio will help keep things simple and in focus. Your Wedding Organizer is the only book any future bride will need to plan and pull off a truly perfect wedding.
Customer Reviews:
Not worth it.......2001-01-11
This planner includes a timeline and checklist that could just have easily been ripped from the pages of any bride's magazine or printed (for free) from an online source. The arts and crafts booklet was a complete waste for anybody planning a wedding. It was a bit too country-crafts for a formal event. The booklet where you keep dress measurements and ordering information was helpful but definately not worth the price of the book. After all, it is the only section, out of three, that you will use at all.
Too flimsy and not very useful.......2000-06-14
Before you buy this planner on line, go to a local book store and take a look at it. It's hard to visualize exactly how this is put together without looking at it. This might work for some people, but what I've noticed thus far is that it's very flashy looking but lacks substance. It comes packaged together, but is actually three distinct and separate parts. First, there is a "timeline" section, which is a folds up like a map and looks like it will fall apart as you go. It lists tasks and when they are supposed to be done on a months & weeks before wedding date basis. I think as you're using this, if you actually fold and unfold it frequently, it will completely disintegrate. If you put it up on the wall somewhere, then it might be okay. However, the whole idea behind this planner is it's portability and that takes some of the portability away. The second section is the "planner", which contains forms for dress shops, florists, caterers, etc. However, there is only one form for each one of those items. I'm not sure what the author expects you to do - photo copy them and use photocopies as you interview vendors? This kind of ruins the portability factor of the planner in my opinion. Yes, it's neat, compact, and fits in a small purse, but if you want to really use this planner, you'll be carrying along a binder or two filled with photocopies of forms. The final section, which is totally glossed over in the book descriptions listed here, is the least useful of all, the "projects" section. I was looking for a planner here, not a small book of arts and crafts projects that I could do. It's got some so-so looking projects for favors, veils, and cakes, but in this small book, there's no way that they could provide an adequate do-it-yourself project section. It just doesn't cut it and there are many other books of projects out there that would be superior. This planner might be good for some people, but I really didn't find it to be as useful as expected. I strongly recommend evaluating this one in person at a regular bookstore before buying it here. Don't waste your time on it unless you are sure it will fit your needs.

Customer Reviews:
Best Organizer on the Market!.......2005-11-01
I recently got engaged and the first thing I did was buy the new Bravo! wedding planner. I had heard about the old one being a great resource and was plesantly surprised to see they've updated it! I've looked at a ton of organizers out there and this one is awesome! It's like a day planner that takes you through each step of the planning process without a bunch of useless information. And I love the simple and beautiful look of it! I would definitely recommend this to anyone planning a wedding.
I agree, this book was just about useless.......2004-02-26
If you think you can fit all the details of your wedding plus brochures in a one inch thick binder, you're kidding yourself. Basically, I took everything that came in this binder, and put it in a 3 inch binder. The only thing that I find useful are the tabs and business card holder page. I could have made those for less than $20. Everything else you can find on great wedding planning websites like theknot.
Did I buy the right book?.......2004-01-26
After reading the absolutely glowing reviews written by others who purchased this binder, I nixed all the other planner candidates and ordered it at once. I must have spent 3 weeks scrutinizing every wedding planner I could find on local bookstore shelves, with this one being the only one under the sun that they didn't carry. I think I now know why; the merchants were likely tired of having copies carted out the door and marched right back in by dismayed and dissatisfied customers.
This binder is the coldest, least intuitive, most vague, condescending, and half-hearted guide to what is typically a very emotional and stressful time in a person's life. Granted, when under pressure, even the most collected mind may be prone to dropping normally obvious factiods and details, so there is some value to be derived from having common sense minutiae enumerated and idiot-proofed on a piece of paper in front of you. However, the equivalent could be accomplished by printing off any of the scads of Internet-available how-to sheets, punching holes in them, and stuffing them into any binder left over from a grade school project. In fact, the reason such an analogy comes to mind may be because that's what the publishers of this overpriced garbage appear to have done; the paper, ink, and for that matter, overall substance quality pale in comparison to lousy half-awake philosophy papers cranked out on a hand-me-down inkjet printer in college, and by a large margin.
This planner was touted as having "essential room for your contracts and vendor information." However, it does nothing extraordinary to assist in this regard. My advice to someone planning and interviewing vendors would be to keep a separate folder or binder for these things, and carry it with whatever more visually-stunning wedding planner you choose. To opt for this product will leave you punching holes in all your paperwork and duplicating documents left and right, just as you would with an external storage medium. At least by going with an alternate planner, you'll have pages of sugar-coated and cutesy suggestions to help you enjoy this period that is your engagement and give you brain candy and stuff for fantasies while you're nauseous and alone at lunch trying to digest the fruits of your myriad wedding-related meetings.
If there are any principles that planning a wedding has renewed or driven home in my exhausted mind as of late, the first to mind is not to settle for less than you want, followed closely by the idea that priceless convenience and peace of mind are worth paying for. This planner seems to have reversed and/or exploited the crux of each tenet. This super-inflated, Xeroxed, quality-free insult to the wedding planner's intelligence is far from what I wanted, and it is worth a mere fraction of its cost. I am very much looking forward to returning it.
Highly recommend.......2003-01-25
I looked around a lot for a good wedding planner and I think that this is one of the best out there. Here is what I like about it:
1) Spiral binding. Don't get a planner without it. You can add clipouts from magazines, contracts, lists, etc.
2) Details. The worksheets include of every detail that you could possibily imagine. You won't forget all those things you need to ask the florist or caterer or photographer.
3) The worksheets also double as contracts in case your provider doesn't give you one. You fill in all the details and then the provider can sign at the bottom and there you have an offical contract.
4) Organization. It is broken down with tabs into a very workable system. If you are having a more simple wedding and don't need all the worksheets or info you can just ignore them, but if you need them, they are there for you.
This is not a book about weddings at all so don't expect to find creative ideas about centerpieces or anything. But the great thing about it is that you can get ideas and pictures from other books and magazines and write down or clip out your favorites, punch some holes in the paper and put it in the relevent section of this, bringing together all your favorite ideas. I highly recommend this and it works very well for me.
THE BEST!!!.......2002-09-13
I love this organizer! I'm attempting to plan a wedding in 6 months and this binder has been so helpful! I love that it's a 3 ring binder so I can keep various papers and info with the proper catagory. All of the vendors I have met with have been very impressed with my questions and worksheets that were provided. I can't rave enough about this planner!!!

Clear Your Clutter With Feng Shui
ASIN: 1568360142 |
Book Description
Colors are key to the Chinese art of feng shui ("Fung Shway"), a system of placement whose simplicity and ecological good sense have struck such a chord recently in the West. Now Lin Yun and Sarah Rossbach, well known for their introduction to the West of feng shui, have written a fully
illustrated guide to color application in all areas of life: home, garden, clothes, food, environment, health, and fortune-telling. In LIVING COLOR readers will find not only answers to the most common color questions-what color to pick for the new sofa? What color to wear on a job interview or to
clinch an important deal? What colors for romance?-but also rules for a balanced and harmonious life based upon no less an authority than Tao-the way of all living things.
Customer Reviews:
Excellent!.......2005-08-23
I purchased this book years ago and found it extremely interesting and informative, not to mention, easy to use. After having lost my copy, I decided to buy it again and am very glad I decided to do so. This book is a classic in the world of Feng Shui, and Master Lin Yun is a very wise and intelligent man. I highly recommend this book.
Too many lists.......2003-11-30
If this is your favorite book, I apologize for not giving it a well deserved 5 stars. I am writing for those who might share my perspective, and do not want to diminish the perfection of this book for many people.
This is only the third book on Feng Shui that I've read. My immediate interest was sparked by reading 'Clear Your Clutter with Feng Shui' by Karen Kingston. Wanting to learn more and using my engineering research skills, I combed the reviews here and picked 'Living Color'. My color IQ is nil and I hoped the book might offer some assistance.
Unfortunately, I was too dense to make much of the insights offered. The various matrices of color vs. room or color vs. business or color foreground vs. color background went over my head. I'm already a habitual list/matrix maker, but they are memory aids for recalling 'known' insights. In this case, the original insight eluded me, so recalling it offered me little.
I did enjoy the first 3 chapters, which included preparatory material. Perhaps the book was simply too advanced for me. For example, the notion of a destructive and creative color cycle is very appealing; I just couldn't get a feel for it.
Near the end of the book, the use of color as part of meditation practice is described. I appreciated this section, too.
helpful only to the intutive.......2002-04-20
I am someone who is deeply interested in and in agreement with the foundational principles behind what goes by the name of Feng Shui. And as much as I found this book helpful, I also tried to read it from the point of view of someone who might find the whole FS to be a bunch of BS. And I found it to be wanting in clearer explanations, even if only to explain why and how some of these things were beyond rational explanation.
This book IS about color theory and practice as espoused by the Black Hat Sect Tantric Buddhism (BTB) in organizing the environment - micro and macro. By now the interested reader ought to know something about the historical dimensions that shaped the BTB, especially including the Chinese input over the last 1,000 years or so. That said, I can say that this book is helpful only to those who are artistically inclined and/or familiar with, AND accepting of the logic behind Chinese cosmology and cultural symbolisms. Why?
Take for example, the part where the author mentions that the color white for fences is bad and red is best. She recommends a cure that can be had by tying 9 red ribbons to the fence. Okay, let us leave aside for the moment the issue of whether that is "true" or not, on whatever level. The fact that the author would make such a statement is bound to rub the average American reader the wrong way, which is indeed unfortunate.
The fact that the color white symbolizes death and purity (to the point of permitting no life) to the Chinese is no reason to write off the whole Western practice of investing the color white with other meanings, such as purity (as in chastity), honesty, cleanliness, and new beginning -- all hopeful and positive things.
This book, as good as it could be, makes the same mistake as some of the other bestsellers in assuming that every reader will (have to) simply accept the Chinese cosmology as universal truth. It is not clear why this oversight continues to occur, but it gives the uncomfortable impression that only a particular culture had access to the "real" truth of colors.
This sort of explanation right from the start would have been helpful to the reader: That the FIVE ELEMENTS merely represent the five MODES of Ch'i, and the names (that is, the elements) associated with them were chosen largely for easier memorization and visualization, and thus application to the visible material world, including medicine. They could just as well have been labeled A,B,C,D, and E. (The subatomic particles also have names that are there just for easier identification. Are electrons really electronic?) The names of the five modes don't really matter, but the manner of their interaction does. The reader should not accept the (pseudo) explanation that "metal 'produces' water because water condenses outside a copper pail filled with cold water", or that "fire 'produces' earth by way of ash". Nor should the reader reject it as "bad science" and forego the more interesting stuff behind the immensely complicated system of observation (as well as observances) in FS. The five elements structure is a mnemonic device before it is anything else but the author does not tell you this, and the disinterested reader is left to follow wide-eyed, marveling at the "awesome" wisdom of the Chinese; or to reject it without furthur ado as New Age mumbo-jumbo.
Given that the BTB puts a lot of emphasis on YI (intention, will), and even in its meditation practices it encourages people to activate whatever religious symbolisms with which they feel most at home, it would only makes sense to assure the Western reader that the purpose of Feng Shui is to activate the energy (Ch'i) of one's environment in harmony with one's own psychic disposition, which would certainly include one's own traditional orientation and inculcation of values -- ethical and aesthetical.
This book, I think, can confuse as well as enlighten, depending on the reader's own level of intutional development. Those who are too uncritically enthusiastic about FS so as to accept everything written here, may end up with a mess of colors all over their house. If it's true that 'You can take a horse to the water but you can't make him drink', then it's also true that if you're the horse, you have to figure out just how thirsty you are, and for what.
All in all, this is a good book, but if you are trained to think critically, it may not be the best book out there for you....
Terrific Guide.......2001-12-29
The subject demands illustration and this book delivers--big time! Full of instructive (and beautiful) photography, complimented by thoughtful and useful text.
NEW & AUTHENTIC.......1999-08-12
Lineage is not staying in one place all the time. Lineage is a line of living connections. New can be authentic. You may differentiate between old tradition and emerging tradition. Validity is not merely the province of antiquity. We build on what has gone before.
Book Description
In this book, designer Stephen Skinner discusses various common themes of feng shui- such as water, alignments, mountains, and wind,-and demonstrates these concepts in 26 houses, restaurants and galleries in London, Hong Kong and Malaysia. The selection is highly varied, and includes famous interiors such as designer Kelly Hoppen's home and the Bam Bou restaurant in London; a Chinese mansion on Victoria Peak in Hong Kong; the Tamarind Hills Thai restaurant in Kuala Lumpur and the Kek Lok Si temple in Penang, Malaysia.

Art and Science of Feng Shui.......2001-02-23
Excellent book to use before you build a house! Deeply explores ancient principles of Feng Shui and how it relates to the geography around your residence. Not for the casual Feng Shui practitioner. Find out the best area to build your home, the best room layout, and the best site to locate a business. Essential guide for anyone who needs to improve his or her life or business
A great book.......2001-02-18
This is a fantastic book! It brings out the true story of feng shui the first time in English. Now I realize that true feng shui involves much more than furniture arrangement and mirror placing and what you have, and that why so many people have failed to benefit from feng shui when they assume that they understand feng shui. At best, they just see the surface of feng shui, while the truth story of feng shui is hidden in this book.

Book Description
Join the millions who use Feng Shui, the ancient art of living well, for better health, happier relationships, career success, and realizing their full potential. Simple, fully illustrated techniques let you transform your inner space by rearranging your living space. For centuries, the Chinese have brought harmony to their lives by changing the mood of the rooms in their homes, and now you can rearrange your furniture and add inexpensive but powerful natural features such as water and plants, as well as sights and sounds through mirrors and chimes, and new uses for particular fabrics, patterns, textures, and colors. Hundreds of photos and illustrations show how to implement the suggestions. Over 100 practical topics show how to enhance your most positive energies and counter unfavorable situations related to diet, nutrition, fitness, exercise, childcare, sleep, financial acumen, attitude toward money, intimacy, sexuality, and friendship, meals, family time, work, leisure, and retirement.

Solve Those Nagging Problems in your Life.......2005-04-26
This isn't a book to read cover-to-cover, instead you browse through finding the problems that match your situation. Reading those gives you very specific solutions based on feng shui principles.
The topics divide under Health, Wealth, Relationships, Family, and Career. The problems are very applicable to average peoples' lives. "How can I adopt a more positive attitude?" "How can I put passion back into our relationship?" "How can I change the fragmented, do-your-own-thing family life we have?" "How can I correct my chronic lateness and disorganization at work?"
The solutions fill one page each and describe placement, color, and other feng shui techniques to change the situation. Over 100 questions are answered in the book. Most people will find a good number that apply to different situations in their lives.
A number of double-page spreads explain basic feng shui tools (mirrors, plants, sounds, patterns/shapes, colors, building materials, dimensions) or principles (eight directions, nine ki astrology, five elements, yin/yang, chi energy).
The use of color and layout enhance the appeal of the book.
Have a problem? Let's fix it..........2000-12-31
I've very much enjoyed Simon Brown's other books on feng shui but was still surprised how much value I got out of this one. The bulk of the book is spent giving solutions to very specific and common life dilemmas interspersed with short pieces on the basic principles of feng shui. I found it easy to identify and remedy what in my home was going in a direction I didn't want to go. I previously had been strengthening compass directions that needed compensating for, instead. I also learned alot about the balance of yin and yang and how fundamental this balance is to moods, life tendencies and choosing which solution to implement. An easy to read book with lots of nice visuals.

Book Description
The Art of Living offers a functional and practical approach to Feng Shui concepts that make a clear connection between the outer environment and one's inner life. With candor and humor the author tackles everyday concerns and offers the reader key steps to sustaining a positive flow of abundance.
"The most easily understandable and practical book on this topic. It should make this philosophic approach to integrating surroundings and spirit more accessible to a wider group of people. A fun read!"
John Koster, M.D. Internal and Holistic medicine.

The Art of Living - Feng Shui YOUR Way!.......2005-08-24
"I LOVED Your Book!
As an Interior Designer, I appreciate the approach - in line with my own for the past 30 years - so simple and yet so important. Also, as I believe I have read most, if not all, of the books from which you draw quotations, I found the book to be a superb compilation of so much from so many places. I plan to recommend it to all my friends!"
Practical and Easy-to-Apply Feng Shui.......2005-07-14
Sandi Miller's book is outstanding! I have read several books on Feng Shui and this one is by far the best! Her approach enables you to make practical vs often mysterious and hard to understand Feng Shui updates to your environment for wonderful results. Sandi has also made a few consulting trips to my home with great success. For example, we rearranged furniture and rugs and added black in the helpful people section of my home. Since that time, several "helpful" people have entered my life. I have had other highly regarded Feng Shui consultants at my home that have offered strange recommendations(e.g. a wind-up clock in the middle of home) which have had little or no positive impact on my life. Sandi's approach to Feng Shui is practical and provides results!

Nearly a philosophy........2002-06-09
One of my friends in Chicago practices Feng Shui in her home, office, even her car. What I find when I visit her is a sense of peace. I've carried this little pocket edition from country to country, shared it with my troops, and given many copies away. Facing an enemy is made easier by the bond we share through common knowledge.
Feng Shui - The Art of Living.......2001-08-24
Wonderful! Simple tips for creating a peaceful and nurturing environment without having to read through pages and pages of 'WHY'. Short and sweet (but thorough) and small enough to keep at my desk for office use, as well! Fabulous colors throughout covering topics from 'Home' to 'Love' - and we could all use a little more 'Love'.........
Enjoy the power of the wind and flow of water.......2001-08-06
Feng (wind) Shui (water) is the Chinese art or practice of positioning objects to complement the patterns of yin and yang. This wonderful little book can fit in the back pocket of your jeans, yet the text is not so small that you need a magnifying glass to see what it says.
Feng Shui has gained popularity in this New Age in which we live. The philosophy, however, is ancient and respected Chinese Art. Although it takes years to master Feng Shui, this little red book is filled with tips that are easy for any beginner, such as I am, to create a more peaceful and energetic environment.
Not all of the tips answer the question "why," but some do. I think this is part of the philosophy, for how can anyone explain art or trust? There are many topics covered in this book, including sustenance, light and reflection, water, color and scent, nature, and more.
These are some of the tips. (1) Goldfish represent wealth and fertility and should never be placed in the kitchen or bedroom. (2) Get rid of the clutter because "hoarding creates stale energy." (3) Sharp corners and angles in your furniture create a disruptive flow, while rounded objects create harmony. (4) Cool colors create passive energy while warm tones are energetic and passionate. (5) Keep your windows clean to enhance clarity and vision.
This little book of art and philosophy are filled with golden nuggets. For me, it is 5 stars.
