Intended for undergraduate and graduate courses in plant development, this book explains how the cells of a plant acquire and maintain their specific fates. Plant development is a continuous process occurring throughout the life cycle, with similar regulatory mechanisms acting at different stages and in different parts of the plant. Rather than focussing on the life cycle, the book is structured around these underlying mechanisms, using case studies to provide students with a framework to understand the many factors, both environmental and endogenous, that combine to regulate development and generate the enormous diversity of plant forms.

Book Description
Until recently, the system of classification of the Psylloidea was discussed exclusively on the basis of adult morphology. The system proposed by Burckhardt is followed here. With a few exceptions, the illustrations for the present book were prepared by the author. The terminalia of all species (m/f) have been figured. Furthermore, the 5th instar nymphs of nearly all the species have been keyed and figured. For each species, the distribution in and outside Denmark and Fennoscandia is briefly given. Information concerning the Scandinavian countries was compiled from literature and from the author's records based on identifications for museums and private collectors over the last 53 years. Distribution data for outside Fennoscandia and Denmark were derived mainly from Klimaszewski (1973). Information on the biology of the species has been compiled from the literature and from the author's observations.

Description:
Ehrendorferiana and its two included new species, E. austrocedri (the type species) and E. fitzroyae, are diagnosed. The new genus is a member of the predominantly temperate Neotropical subfamily Aphalaroidinae (Psyllidae). Based on the absence of metabasitarsal spurs it forms a likely monophyletic group with Baccharopelma, Panisopelma and Russelliana. The absence or paucity of long dorsal or marginal setae on the wing pads and caudal plate suggests a probable sister-taxon relationship with Russelliana. Apart from two species of Triozidae from New Zealand on Podocarpaceae, Ehrendorferiana is unique within Psylloidea in its host association with conifers, viz.
