A Teacher's Delight.......2001-03-25
As a substitute teacher for kindergarten, first grade, and second grade I've found "How Do Bears Sleep?" a useful part of my Arsenal of Tricks to intrigue young children. Its fanciful rhymes and enjoyable story are a hit every time.
A Teacher's Viewpoint.......2001-01-31
Unlike the children I've read this delightful book to, Diane Nunn in the "From School Library Journal" review completely misses the point that this is a HUMOROUS book. How nice it is to find a book that makes children laugh out loud.

How Do Animals Sleep.......2007-02-23
I read How Do Animals Sleep? I like the book alot because it has very good information about how animals live.In the book I read', "When a polar bear is trying to keep worm during a cold winter snooze, it will curl up and cover its nose with a warm paw." This heelped convince me that it was a good book.

Not What I Expected.......2007-08-08
I have the greatest respect for the Dover company - in general they produce high-quality books, and I own quite a few of them. However, with this book, they missed a great opportunity. This volume reproduces WWI and WWII propaganda posters in spades, but on a very small scale - two posters are printer per page, lengthwise, about 3x5 inches apiece. While the posters are clearly printed, on good quality paper, in full, vivid color, the fact that they are so small takes away some of the fun in looking at them. This book comes with an accompanying CD-ROM so that you can use the posters herein (on a limited basis) in certain projects and, essentially, it seems as though the book is really meant to serve as a catalogue for the CD-ROM. For those who are looking for a good digital reference, this may be useful; those who are looking for a good art book should look elsewhere.
Ideal Teaching Tool.......2007-05-07
Downloading the CD Rom images is easy and making color copies or transparencies for overhead projections. Using the latter in your classroom will enhance your lessons on the World Wars, especially the broad range samples of Homefront propaganda and culture. The students seeing these poster works in rich colors beats the drab B&W or smaller textbook facsimile inserts. Show it to them while playing a CD recording of George M. Cohan's "Over There" for a real memorable effect! My Eighth graders will surely remember this.

An Excellent Collection.......2007-08-30
This book was exactly what I needed. It has tons of clip-art from the Art Deco era. I don't know why but it seemed harder for me to find a good compilation of Deco images, than it is to find Art Nouveau.
Book Description

Carefully reproduced from rare issues of the famed French periodical La Vie Parisienne, the illustrations lend themselves perfectly to graphic projects calling for sophistication and feminine charm. 339 black-and-white illustrations.
Book Description
Evoke the bold, elegant streamlined Art Deco style with this collection of dynamic fonts. Lampoon, Chic, Parisian, Publicity Gothic, many more. Most alphabets include both upper- and lower-case letters, numerals and punctuation. One CD-ROM and book. 24 black-and-white fonts.
Customer Reviews:
You're sure to like these fonts.......2006-12-01
Dan Solo had a huge collection of great old and new type faces. You'll find 24 of them here. Some, you might already have, and some are so nice that I believe if you find one gem here, it makes the price worthwhile. The fonts are in both Windows True Type and Macintosh formats. The pages have the complete alphabets and a character chart. Be sure to notice the "extra characters" that are offered in some fonts.
No more than OK.......2000-04-25
This volume did not have the pizzaz the Victorian fonts book had. Modernique, Plaza Suite, Clyde are interesting. If you have Broadway (or B'way Engraved), Futura Black (or Braggadocio) on your machine that should suffice. My Broadway has better kerning than these Dover ones also: test was "VA" overlap. All in all we've seen better. Still looking forward to the next book though!

Customer Reviews:
Deco Seguy.......2007-05-11
I loved Seguy's Art Nouveau designs. I only like this book, as I think Seguy's Deco designs aren't as brilliant as his Art Nouveau patterns. However, I really like the insect designs in this book--I wish all his insects were in it.
