A too personal view.......2005-08-06
Lots of information about the breed from a personal experience. Need to uptade some details and pictures. Well described items about health. Too many pages abouth history and fancy dog names that are not useful to the pet owner. A good book to begin in the Terrier`s hectic world

Great Book! Everything you ever wanted to know about Fox Terriers. It's like an encyclopedia of the Fox Terrier. I continue to refer to it for helpful information.

This was a very well put together book with lots of good information. My only dissapointment is that it seemed a bit too generic - not breed specific. Its as if the words "toy fox terrier" were inserted with the same info used with other dogs and other books.

A complete suprise!.......2001-12-07
First and formost, if you are thinking of getting a Wire Fox, (or as my family call them, "Frankie dog's" -thats the name of our litte terroir) get one. They are the sweetest things on earth, and deffinatly the cutest also. Now for the book, talk about quality! We have had our book for about 6 years, and none of the pages are even ripped. The book gives detailed history of the breed, tips on feeding them, grooming them, and taking care of them. One time we wanted our groomer to cut Frankie a certain way, so we brought in the book and showed the groomer, she was so amazed and wanted to buy it off us! I have never had such a complete and thorough book that has beauty at the same time. Sometimes my mom and I will think that Frankies ears are in a weird position, or his stance is irregular, we just look in the book and sure enough, he's fine :) *****Overall~~~~ Great buy!

Finally - a Hand Book for the New WFT Owner.......2000-04-05
I was glad to finally find a reliable handbook on the WFT. This book did provide good information for any new puppy owner focusing on certain aspects of the WFT. The chapters on grooming and training were very beneficial. Although I felt a little overwhelmed with the history chapter it was interesting. The pictures throughout the book are beautiful. Since I have not been able to find any other books on the Wire Fox Terrier I would recommend this one to others.

Some good ideas and photos but a bit too autobiographical........2001-06-18
Yes, this book does contain many useful items of information concerning the behavior, care and grooming of "Aussies." There are also numerous high quality photos of various champion show dogs. However,the book struck me more as an autobiography of the author, Nell Fox, than as a dedicated and comprehensive guide to the breed. I would suggest purchasing the book but only with the knowledge that much of it serves to sing in praise of the author herself! However,with that said; for those who are especially interested in the history of the breed and in Nell Fox's key role in bringing Aussies to America, this book is a must read.
Must-read for people owned by Aussie Terriers.......1999-11-19
Finally, a book about the Australian Terrier! This spunky breed has deserved its own book for a while now. A great book for anyone who has ever encountered an Australian Terrier.

This is one book that is hard to put down. The pictures alone are well worth the price of the book. This book far exceeds Nell's first book on the Aussie.
A Collector's Book.......1998-07-29
It has been 25 years since the last publication in the United States about the Australian terrier. One of the frustrating experiences in the past was to find a book (that was not out of print) about the breed. This solves the problems for the novice to the breed as well as for established kennels. This is a well written, informed, and beautifully illustrated monograph. It should be sent home with each new puppy as a reference on grooming the Aussie, training, history, and showing.
This book is a best buy!

Save your money and do a Google search on fox terriers or actually visit a breeder and see many different fox terriers to get a true sense of their personality. There is no way a book can adequately capture the essence of these unique and spunky dogs.

This book will be easily understood and enjoyed by everyone who reads it, as she personalizes the little terriers she speaks about, with their own names, - "Anna" and "Willie".
Throughly covering all aspects of living with and caring for a Fox Terrier from puppyhood to old age, it is expertly written and packed with beautiful full-color photos of both Smooth and Wirehaired representatives of the breed.
It will be hard to find another book on the Fox Terrier that defines this breed's character so precisely. I can attest to this, as I belong to 5 Smooth girls.

Amazing Book.......2004-10-22
I have never seen anyone with more passion for dogs than Grandpa Harold. The man had an intense dedication to everything he did and the research and images used in the book are fabulous. Anyone with any kind of appreciation for terriers will want to see these absolutely beatiful pictures of smooths/wires. I can say because I have seen the work and time that went into this by a single man that this is truly a must have.

I enjoy tracing the history of my dogs and being able to see the pictures of relatives taken while still in their prime. Research on all the kennels is very interesting for historical content. A MUST in your library for those seriously interested in the Fox Terrier.

Good Photos, Little Information.......1999-09-16
This book is full of good, glossy photos of Fox Terriers, but even at its low price, I am disappointed in the amount of substance in the book. While I was reading it, I got the feeling that it is just one of a series of dog books, in which the name of the breed on the cover is
into the text (i.e. change "poodle" to "fox terrier" and you would have a new book). There was very little "breed specific" information, other than the Breed Standard, which was lifted from the AKC.

A mixed-media must-have..........2007-10-05
If you want a book that will push the envelope in helping you create beautiful paper art, then this is it! I first saw Traci Bautista featured on a DIY crafting show, and that is how I found out about her talent and her book, Collage Unleashed. Her fun use of color and her graphic styling is what drew me to this book.
In her book, Traci uses some of the most interesting background coloring techniques to jazz up plain paper for use in collaging, paper crafting and journal making. Written in easy-to-understand wording, she inspires the reader with her painting and stamping techniques, and adds artful wording to the mix to create a unique look of layered, graffiti-style art on paper.
If you love colorful mixed-media art, collaging, stamping and paper crafting, I think you'll love this book as much as I do.
Plenty of Pep and Sparkle, but . . . . .......2007-09-27
Traci Bautista is clearly a tremendously imaginative and energetic artist. I expect her book will help to fire up many inhibited or hesitant young readers -- or will at least give them plenty of new ideas with regard to tools and techniques. As other reviewers have noted, the sheer number of ideas the author introduces is prodigious. The photographs of her own work reveal a plethora of fanciful, upbeat productions which may well have wide appeal.
On the other hand, I can not think this book will be a good "fit" for everyone who works with collage. In fact, I expected to like the book much more than I did. It is hard to put my finger on just what disappointed me -- possibly the whole unleash-yourself tone. Do I really want to incorporate lots of randomly dyed paper towels in my collages? Will my art truly benefit from the addition of crayons melted in my oven?
I suspect the book may appeal more to younger (post-
Boomer) people who value fast, fun creative experiences -- and who like the idea of accumulating whole stockpiles of colorful materials (such as the aforementioned dyed paper towels) to incorporate in future scads of collages. I guess I am more the stodgy, plodding type of artist -- the type who is currently studying a completed nixed-media collage (no crayons or paper towels) over a period of several days, trying to decide whether to add one more acrylic glaze. Frankly, I am also the type who tends to cringe ever so slightly when confronting instructions for, say, doodling "girlie glam faces"--"My journals are filled with doodles of these girls; they're fun, feminine, and pretty," writes Ms. Bautista on page 49.
In fairness, those who are into sewing and needlework may appreciate some of the projects requiring a sewing machine or a penchant for tying macrame knots. The directions for experimenting with book binding are also interesting and quite accessible even to the interested beginner. Ms. Bautists is clearly skilled in this area, and she offers up some interesting possibilities for combining stitchery with other modalities.
Moreover, in the interests of full disclosure, I did decide to experiment with a judicious pinch or two of glitter after perusing this book. I liked the result. It definitely pepped up my latest collage.
I would suggest paging through the book before purchasing it and seeing whether Traci Bautista's own creations, choice of materials, etc., appeal to you at least as much as your own. If so, go for it! I am still, for the most part, inordinately content with my traditionalist-media. I will probably stay back here on the leash for a while longer.
WOW!.......2007-08-22
This is one of my favorites in my vast art book collection. The collage techniques that Traci Bautista presents are fun, easy to follow, and encourage you to be creative. (I am not into "projects," but even the ones she included are open ended.) In addition, her graphics and use of color are awesome! Her style is a combination of American graffiti, calligraphic illumination, and a little of Picasso. You will not regret getting this book!

Bought this book to take on a road trip. SO HAPPY to be back home so I can create with Traci as my inspiration!
Some of the techiniques in book-binding seem a little complicated, but it won't stop me! I am eager to try lots & lots of new things.
