Book Description
Captain Paul Watson has rammed fishing trawlers, smashed whaling ships, sailed boldly into Soviet-controlled waters, and stood bravely on an ice floe between a baby harp seal and an oncoming seal boat. In this daring and sprawling memoir, the captain of the Sea Shepherd recounts his remarkable life on the front lines in the war to stop the viscious slaughter of the Canadian harp seal.
Seal Wars opens in 1996 with Paul Watson -- holed up in a hotel with Martin Sheen in the Magdalen Islands and facing an attacking mob of angry sealers -- being rescued by police and airlifted to safety. Watson recounts the childhood experiences that shaped his adult consciousness and environmental ethic. He records a history of the seal hunt (including all the tragedies, brutalities, and government mismanagement and obfuscation) from its beginning up to the rescue campaigns he courageously led from the prow of the Sea Shepherd.
Starting in 1976 with a Greenpeace crew off Labrador, Paul Watson has braved numerous forays onto the ice floes, many with such celebrities as Brigitte Bardot, Farley Mowat, Martin Sheen, and Pierce Brosnan. He has served time in prison, debated politicians, and quite often put his life on the line. In a passionate defense of environmental responsibility,
Seal Wars guides us through the highs and lows, the defeats and successes of Watson's untiring devotion to this noble cause.

Eye Opener! .......2006-02-08
I feel so foolish after reading this book. I thought that all it would take to end the barbaric and cruel seal "hunts" is join along with millions of others who are against it, let it be known in a letter or an email and wait to see what happens. I guess I could never fathom a good people, a good government that would allow animal cruelty and to allow it as a proud tradition, a heritage, a right. Yet the world has not seen even a inkling of what really happens come March every year. Cameras aren't allowed. Videos aren't allowed to record the cruelty. If by chance cruelty is recorded, it is a fake, a lie, made up.
I NEVER IMAGINED A GOVERNMENT THAT WOULD ALLOW SUCH CRUELTY. I never imagined a government that would defend brutality to animals and to people! I never imagined this country - the country that allows all this - would want a person who defends an innocent animal, because of what he was witnessing, because of the horrible pain he saw year after year after year, because he couldn't sit back and do nothing, a government that would rather see him dead or imprisoned because of it, yes the government! What an eye opener. How any man could take the most gentle creature on the face of the earth and torture it is beyond my imagination. These people have no compassion, not an iota of mercy. IT'S HAPPENING! AND A GOVERNMENT THAT CALLS THEMSELVES A GOOD PEOPLE IS ALLOWING IT AND PRAISING IT!
Paul Watson's title "Seal Wars" is right on. This book is about a war to protect the seals. Mr. Watson will take you year by year into his life as a Sea Shepherd to the harp seals. He has fought valiantly throughout the years to protect the harp seals and he himself has suffered, but he has never given up. The war still rages on today.
These creatures, very gentle and trusting of people, are living their lives on the ice as they were born on this earth until March of every single year. The seals don't expect it, they don't know it, they trust humans, and then a man comes at a baby seal with the bottom of his boot hard to the face then skinned while still alive, its mother can only watch helplessly as it is squealing in pain, or a club to the head before being skinned (40%+ seals are skinned alive!) or a hakapik into another baby, the heartless fisherman dragging it across the ice while it is still alive, the seal crying in pain - it is only a few days old; a ship - a Coast Guard ship at that - who run the little animals down on the ice purposely, out of spite for those who are trying to protect them; baby seals can't swim, or even a bullet to a mother seals head, for one vain and unnecessary thing - fur.
These animals suffer and they suffer for vain. They will continue to suffer until more people become angry and more people get active. Read this book! READ IT AND DO SOMETHING!! DO WHAT YOU CAN! I guarantee if you have a heart in you, you will want to after reading this! There are several causes on the internet you can find to join. Paul Watson's Sea Shepherd is one of them. Not enough people are speaking up and doing something. There's simply not enough people who care. It is discouraging to read, but we should never let discouragement keep us from speaking for those who can't! Read this book and pass it on and DO SOMETHING!
I was deeply touched by one part of the book in which Mr. Watson describes a peaceful visit, yet another campaign to save them; he says "Looking into those huge, dark, innocent eyes reminded me again of why we had to champion these creatures. The seals were indeed the little lambs of God, their vulnerable innocence in such contrast to the raw, mindless cruelty of the ice floes, a cruelty dwarfed only by the merciless, mindful cruelty of man. I loved them every one. And what we love we defend."
Everyone who cares about earth should read this book.......2005-05-31
Paul Watson and the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society are true heroes, and this book will inspire you to help end the barbaric Canadian seal hunt once and for all. This book is a great story - and very hard to put down.
A Great Man, A Great Story.......2005-04-23
I am 3/4 done with this book but couldn't wait to post a review on Amazon. This is a great story about a great man who has courage, vision, compassion, a sense of justice and humor, to boot! It is hard for me to put this book down. Sometimes I can't wait to see what will happen next and other times, I am cracking up from their antics! (ie. pie filling in their cannons...hysterical!) They are so funny while on such a serious mission....the best way to be, I guess. There is everything in it....politics, travel, adventure, culture, sabotage, suspense, and silliness. The story is interesting on many levels. I learned alot about the history of sealing, the beauty and danger of the ice floes, Newfoundland, the tensions between the English and French of eastern Canada, the corruption of the Canadian government and what it is like to be the only ship among 80 sealing ships out there in the bitter cold trying to stop the slaughter of these innocent beings.
But this book is more than adventure and interest. The virtues of Paul Watson and his crew come thru on every page. These are selfless, dedicated, just, brave men (and a few women) who are risking their all to save innocent seals from being hacked to death. I feel in reading this book I am picking up on the greatness of these people and it feels wonderful - especially living in a world where most people do everything for their own interest only. I felt inspired to be "great" and do more - and I have done more. My hats off to Watson and all others who work to protect the seals. They are the best and I don't know what this world would be like without folks like him. I kiss the ground in thanks that there are people like him. I especially enjoyed Watson's commentary throughout the book that is emotional and often spiritual. Thank you Paul Watson and Sea Shepherd for all you have done. I am with you in spirit all the way. Bless you many times over.

Old timers reminisce.......2003-11-21
Imagine a group of WWII veterens sitting around reminiscing. Now record this word for word, and put their ramblings, unedited, into a book. That describes this book.
For example:
"The Navy reactivated me for duty with the Naval Beach Group at Little Creek, Virginia, in 1950. I stayed there about six months before going back to demolition work with UDT4. AT UDT4, I spent about two months as the executive officer of the team. Then I was sent over to UDT 2, where I took the position of CO. UDT 2 was a long assignment; I was there from 1951 to 1958, " p. 43 blah, blah, blah. So WHO CARES!?
This book doesn't do justice to the brave men who fought in WWII, such as my father. It is very poorly edited. It deserves to be placed deep in the Navy Archives as a verbal history. Not on your bookshelf.
no title.......2002-05-04
This attempt at a comprehensive naval special warfare(NSW) history leading up to formation of Navy SEAL teams and their deployment to Vietnam has only one thing to recommend it: numerous first-hand accounts by NSW unit & team veterans. Otherwise, it suffers from poor editing in the text itself and ill-conceived structural arrangement. And it contains a fatal flaw, for nowhere in the book does the author cite a single source or reference for the information he presents, except the self-referencing first hand accounts, thereby violating the First Commandment of the history profession. The result is often clumsy paraphrasing that could leave the author open to charges of plagairism. Also, by not citing his sources or supplying a bibliography, he denies the curious reader any chance of following through with his or her own research of a particular item mentioned in the book. Let's hope he does better next time.
Engaging Stories of Secret Heroes!.......2001-08-27
Navy SEALs is an oral history book in the tradition of The Greatest Generation. 34 fascinating personal histories are contained, and are put into context by carefully researched essays to link together the action tales. The histories are well chosen to highlight key points in the history of U.S. underwater operations by individuals prior to 1975. Each history is impressively illustrated by extensive photographs that make you feel like you are on the scene.
The Navy SEALs, the direct action component of the Navy's special warfare community, were not established until 1962. The bulk of this book looks at the predecessor organizations in World War II and Korea which developed the expertise that ultimately led to the establishment of the SEALs. The book also briefly describes the launching of the SEALs and the role of the SEALs in Vietnam.
The original concept of individual in-the-water warfare dated back to World War II. In the 20th century, U.S. forces had had no amphibious landings prior to that time. Suddenly, a capability was needed to clear underwater obstructions to support such landings. Seebees were initially recruited as volunteers for their demoliton skills, and taught how to swim so that mines and other obstructions could be blown away. Later, Navy Scouts and Army Rangers developed skills to do reconnaissance on landing sites before the battles occurred. Poor surveillance and planning at Tarawa meant that more Marines drowned than were killed by the Japanese when the transports could not get over the reefs.
Underwater Demolition Teams were critical in landings to make room for the troop and tank transports. Although the valuable role of these brave men soon became known to the Navy, there were not enough of them. Hitler's Fortress Europe came with lots of obstructions that needed to be eliminated for any landings to succeed. For the critical landings on D-Day in Normandy, UDTs were supplemented by other personnel. Despite this increase, they were only able to complete their assignments in clearing 5 of 16 50-yard areas on Omaha beach (after taking a horrific 50 percent rate of casualties). Without the courage and skill of these heroes, D-Day might not have succeeded.
The book is equally interesting as an example of how to create an elite, high-performance unit within a large organization. People in government organizations and large businesses will be fascinated by the ways that individual initiative can be encouraged. I especially enjoyed the many stories about how those who couldn't stand the hum-drum life on board ship and ship's discipline joined the SEAL predecessors. The book also recounts how key equipment and methods were developed.
The current SEAL concept is vastly removed from its predecessors. The predecessors were usually expected to stay below the high water line, where the Marines were to take over. Today, SEALs (standing for SEa, Air, and Land) are expected to be able to parachute, fight guerrilla battles on land, and conduct extensive underwater operations. The same dedication to excellence and to country is maintained as a common heritage.
I would also have enjoyed this book if it had been edited differently to isolate the different aspects of what these men experienced. For example, all of the references to training could have been put together with material about these experiences. All of the references to reconnaissance could have been put together. That would have made the book more of a history, and less of an oral history, but it would probably have made for smoother reading. Perhaps Mr. Dockery will rework the material into that more familiar form at some point in the future, as well.
Clearly, you will be glad to read the stories in this book. It will make you proud of some of our fellow Americans in new ways. After you finish enjoying this book, I suggest that you find someone who served in the SEALs or one of its predecessors. Ask them about their experiences in how they decided to join, what training was like, and how they served. If they have not shared their stories with others, you should encourage them to get in contact with Mr. Dockery.
Clear the way for progress!
Book Description
The new SEALs hardcover, packed with photos from the UDT/SEAL museum and the SEALs themselves.
By the close of the Vietnam war, the SEALs had established themselves as a living legend in combat. But the nature of combat was about to change. Learning to outmaneuver terrorists, and contain volatile situations, the SEALs have maintained their authority into the new millennium.
This fully illustrated, comprehensive volume follows the life of the Navy SEALs from the aftermath of Vietnam--through the trials of Grenada, Bosnia, and Afghanistan-- and looks toward the future with first-hand accounts as well as little known facts about the men, their weapons, and their missions.

Missed opportunity, or mis-titled.......2002-12-30
Dockery's book is titled "a history," but it's not.
This book is an Ode to the Navy Seal, and there are many personal stories in the "there I was in the jungle" and "the making of a Navy Seal" veins, but any type of overview, or where the Seals fit into the overall strategy, or critical analysis of how the political considerations driving the civilian leadership either directed or limited the actions of the Seals, is largely missing. Analysis is largely limited to "the President said go, and we went." Even the Gulf of Tonkin incident in August 1964, widely acknowledged to be mistaken, is accepted at face value. The many interviews quoted at length give the book a very episodic feel. There is, I believe, not one negative word about the Seals, or their success in Vietnam, in this book.
The pictures and narratives are good in giving the reader a sense of what it's like to be a Seal, how the Seals operate on their missions, the tools they use, and how important the concept of "team" is to the effectiveness of the Seals. Buy it for this purpose, if you wish, but not to gain any concept of history.
One of the best accounts of the UDT/SEAL Teams in Vietnam!.......2002-08-22
This is the second volume of Kevin Dockery's collection of oral history of the Navy SEALs. His first volume, 'Navy SEALs: A History Of The Early Years' was released about a year ago. I believe a third and final volume about the Navy SEALs and their operations during the Persian Gulf conflict will be released next year.
In part two of this fascinating history of the Navy SEALs Kevin Dockery again presents a collection of oral accounts by former UDT and SEAL team members. Famous, former, frogmen like Richard Marcinko (Commander, USN (Ret.)) and Governor Jesse Ventura are just some of the SEALs that recount their operations during the South East Asian conflict.
My favorite feature about this second volume are the numerous rare black and white photographs depicting the UDT and SEAL team members in action.
If you have enjoyed Chief James Watson's 'Point Man' and all the other Richard Marcinko books, then you will definitely want to read 'Navy SEALs: A History Part II: The Vietnam Years.
Product Description
Legendary guitarists such as Jimi Hendrix, B.B. King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, Mike Bloomfield, Hubert Sumlin, T-Bone Walker, Johnnie Winter, Albert King, Freddie King, and Chuck Berry are known to all blues fans for their remarkable soloing abilities.
But the complete blues guitarist must do more than shine in the solo spotlight. And that is why every great soloist is also a great fill-in player.
Tasteful fill-in licks support and inspire the singer while adding fire and drive to the performance. For example, Blind Lemon Jeffersons string-snapping fill-ins provided the perfect complement for his rough-hewn blues songs. Both Louis Armstrong and Lester Young seemed to talk to the singer with their finely-crafted, jazzy fill-ins. And Henry Sunflower Vestines stinging, buzzsaw fill-ins never failed to drive his Canned Heat bandmates into a psychedelic frenzy.
This book is accompanied by a user-friendly split-track CD allows you to sit in with a professional blues band while you learn to play blues fills behind a great singer, Charles Adkins. The Heat-Seeking Missile Blues Band is heard on the left channel; the fill-in licks are isolated on the right channel.
This is not just another book of abstract how do I use these licks in real life? licks, but a collection of solid musical ideas that can be applied to thousands of real songs. Another fine contribution from Red Dog Music Books, designed for the early intermediate-to intermediate guitarist. Some of the licks are accessible to highly motivated near-beginners, and the book is an excellent resource for teachers.
Product Description
This superb Red Dog Music Book and CD allows you to learn/play slide guitar fill-ins while sitting in with a crisply recorded blues band and singer. The licks are clearly written in standard notation and tablature, and the companion CD contains all 101 licks, which are applicable to countless blues songs. A guide to symbols and several helpful fretboard diagrams are included. The licks are recorded on electric guitar but can also be played on acoustic. Overall, a very fine book that will provide unlimited learning and enjoyment. Many slide guitar books are confusing because they try to cover too many tunings. Everything here is in open E. Songs include standards such as Joe Turner Blues, St. Louis Blues, Sportin Life Blues, House of the Rising Sun, Midnight Special, along with several new songs written to standard blues changes. Like Hound Dog Taylor, J.B. Hutton, and Elmore James? Then you will like this book.
Product Description
Blues guitar teachers, serious students, and blues band guitarists will all enjoy his large collection of 100% pure blues and boogie solos for guitar. Twenty-five exciting solos are presented here, each played over its own rhythm progression.
Every solo is transcribed in both standard notation and tablature, and played note for-note with a full band on the professionally recorded companion CD.
This book is for the intermediate, or better, guitarist whose interests include authentic, non-commercial blues musicthe good stuff that is seldom heard via mass-market channels such as radio and television.
Guitar teachers might use the book to introduce new hand positions, fingerings, chords, and theoretical concepts.
Each solo is made up of many interesting phrases (licks) that can be adapted and incorporated into your own style.
The solos are relatively challenging, and can be used in blues jams and on stage.
Another SUPER COOL and USEFUL music book by Larry McCabe.

animals for a dollar.......2007-04-11
GREAT book.. loads of fun.. challenging.. Will keep me busy for quite a while..
Masterful creations.......2006-03-23
There is a huge variety or animals, the models are not as hard as I thought they would be. I would recommend this book over any other I have purchased. There aren't any simple models thrown in to just fill the pages, they are all first class creations.
Maybe you can do it if you've done origami before???.......2005-03-05
Certain folds are impossible to figure out from the pictures and arrows. For example, in the "Swan", step 4 shows what looks like 3 folds... I think. And then a triangle like shape seems to be the result in step five. The step they show does not make any sense.
I had to figure it out from the picture of how it turned out. After twenty minutes, I got it, but with no help from the directions given.
Many other pictures show a fold that you later figure out, were supposed to leave part of the bill out of the fold (Did that make much sense... No? Now you know what the book is like.).
Yes, it is possible, but I'm thinking a video or personal instruction might be better for a first time origami guy like myself.
Cute little animals.......2004-11-18
Maybe because we see money every day folding it into origami is very interesting, This book has clear instructions on how to make a variety of animals from dollar bills. (Use the Look Inside feature on Amazon to see the variety of origamis you can make.) The instructions have a clear diagram for every step of the folding.
That doesn't mean folding animals is easy. Dollars don't hold creases very well, and both sides of the dollar are the same color which makes following a diagram difficult. Also like in normal origami the cooler it looks the more frustrating it is to make it (usually). Duck Star and Fish are pretty easy to fold, but as for Unicorn- whew boy.
I recommend this to people who want to give money as a gift, but still make it personal, or to people who just think it would be cool to do origami with money. They patterns are cute, and there are not so many books on money folding out there.
Practicality.......2004-04-18
Ever leave a tip for a waiter? Ever hand a hairdresser a couple bucks? Ever forget to get that "special gift" for someone's birthday?
This book is what you need. pull out a buck and fold one of these designs and impress all around. (Because some of these shapes are rather complicated, try what I do. I learn one shape a week and keep them foleded in my wallet as to be for quick and easy retrival. And when there is free time, fold some green!)
I have learned a Camel, Rooster, and Penguin so far and use them for almost any occasion.
Book Description
Hey, big spender--pull out that bill and...fold it. Duy Nguyen, the popular author of Dinosaur Origami and many other books, presents a creative new way to make the most of your money.
Why spend your bucks buying origami paper--when the money itself can be the paper? It adds a unique twist to traditional origami projects, plus you don't have to look any further than your wallet to find crafting materials. The clever projects, which range from a Jedi to a horseshoe crab, an American Eagle to an Oriental dragon, are absolutely fantastic. Some use a single dollar, while others need two or three bills and demand a little more skill--but with practice, patience, and Duy Nguyen's detailed illustrations of every fold, you will undoubtedly master all the techniques. For a little extra fun, amazing facts about U.S. currency appear throughout...such as how many times you can fold a dollar bill before it will tear--but don't worry, these projects will keep your money intact.

SOME GOOD, SOME BAD...A MIXED REVIEW.......2007-09-16
This is not what you would call a "bad" book, it is just one that did not live up to my expectations. The author gives us around 15 folding projects with a single dollar, a number of projects with multiple bills. I was looking for a book with only single bill folds. Some of the designs are cute, some not so cute. The directions are easy to follow though which is a plus and it is quite easy to teach the young ones the more simple folds. I must admit that the children were much more fascinated with this book than I was. The cost of the book though is reasonable and you probably will not be wasting your money in the purchase. Overall, an okay book, but I would have appreciated a bit more.
Incomplete and Obscure.......2007-08-13
This is a cute little book, but I was disappointed because it contains only 15 figures to make with dollar bills -- five using one dollar bill, seven using two, and three using three bills. Also, I don't consider most of the figures to be interesting ones or anything that most people will recognize upon seeing them. The figures are: eagle, eel, European dragon, fruit bat, horseshoe crab, Jedi, Klingon bird of prey, Oriental dragon, Phoenix, Roger's Rabbit, scorpion, sea lion, squid, tiger shark and vampire bat. Nevertheless, I set out to make every figure -- only to find that steps were missing from the instructions and photos, and I couldn't figure out how to get from here to there on several of the figures. After several failures I ended up giving up in frustration!
There is a bonus included -- approximately every 12-14 pages there is a 2-page spread of "fun facts about dollar bills."
Folding Money.......2007-06-26
A better way to give kids money than just handing them a bill. Plus you get a history and fact to repeat while folding. Makes you look like you know what money is all about.
money folding.......2007-04-11
GREAT book.. I am learning several of these already.. Many hours of fun..Will be teaching some of these at Pow Wows...
Nice but not so much.......2007-04-09
This was the first book I got on folding money and it was nice and all but the things you fold in here just didnt strik my fun fancy really. It was nice to learn the folds on though.
Book Description
Step-by-step instructions and clear diagrams show paper folders at all levels of expertise how to fashion 30 origami models from dollar bills. Beginners will enjoy making a boat and a butterfly. Windmills and peacocks will suit intermediate-level hobbyists. An alligator and bison should prove no problem for advanced paper folders.

Great book.......2007-07-05
I picked up this book for the "shirt & tie". It was pretty easy to follow and I feel like I'm a pro at it now. There are tons of other things you can make out of a dollar all detailed in this book.
Hours of fun.......2007-01-11
I bought this product for myself and my boyfriend this past holiday. So far, we both really enjoy it. The book offers three levels of folding and many projects. As a novice, I've been able to do many of the basic and a few of the second level folds, luckily the book also offers a glossary of folds!
Great designs but hard-to-follow instruction.......2006-03-13
I was very excited by the designs in this book but I felt like steps were missing in the instructions and therefore, I was unable to complete several of the pieces. I have other books by John Montroll and have not had this problem before. Needless to say, I was dissapointed in this book.
Great designs! Good Diagrams! Lacks some instruction........2005-12-16
This is not a origami book for the faint of heart - or novice folder - by any stretch of the imagination. I have been folding for some years and found some of these designs to be a bit of a struggle. I'd get it... but a little more written instruction would have saved me some time.
PROS
1. Great Designs (he uses a variety of great designers - see the review before this one for details) - some of the best I've seen!
2. Good Diagrams - not great .. but accurate - found myself on a few occasions looking at one pic then the next and thinking "then a miracle occured" - but managed to work my way through them all.
3. Amazing attention to detail. John Montroll has an incredible eye for small detail folds that really differentiate his book from the others I've seen (I have a collection of 8 - not comprehensive by a long shot). Its this little attention to detail that will move your folding from intermediate to advanced. This is the first book I've had in a long time that has really advanced my folding skills. Not just because I've learned some new designs - but I've learned how to detail my designs.
4. Lots of designs - really an incredible value for the sheer number of designs you get - this is true with his Dollar Bill Animals book as well.
CONS
1. could use more written instruction with some of the diagrams
(if not for this I'd give this book 10 stars)
This along with his Dollar Bill Animals book are great! Personally, I preferred the Dollar Bill Animals book because I just liked the designs. This book however includes designs from a variety of authors as discussed in previous posts - which is a great addition.
Overall - the designs and diagrams outweigh the negatives. But after seeing Jodi Fukamoto's books this book is lacking in niceties.
This is not a book for beginners - but a MUST HAVE for intermediate to advanced folders. There are some easier folds in this book - but I fear a novice would struggle to figure them out.
Great shape collection.......2005-07-20
John Montroll is a well known name in origami, and he does an excellent job of creating both simple shapes for beginners as well as extraordinarily complex shapes for experts. This book is no exception. This is a great book to get if you're interested in presents, tips or other uses for money origami. Even if you're a raw beginner, you can start with the very simple items, and work your way up to the complex.
First, the collection of shapes. Things are rated by star difficulty. With the basic one star you get a boat, three diamonds, George Washington slept here bed, and a swan. For two stars you get a George Washington framed picture, star of David, windmill, house with chimney, sword, one-way arrow, tetrahedron cube, diamond, tulip, evergreen, tree with spiked branches, African mask, shirt with tie, crane, vulture, goose, flamingo, peacock, pelican, Asian dragon, alligator, tyrannosaurus, rabbit, armadillo, and squirrel.
Move up to three stars and you get a petalled flower, eagle, aardvark, llama, bison, butterfly and dragonfly.
That's the beauty of this book. You can make the classic shirt and swan designs for general tip-giving. If you've got a friend that is year of the dragon or year of the rabbit in Chinese astrology, those make perfect gift giving shapes. A house becomes a great housewarming present. The bed is a "thanks for letting me stay over" present. Insted of your gifts coming across as crass "take the cash please" sorts of things, you give it a touch of class by matching the shape to the occasion.
I have a minor problem with the illustrations, as they are simply done with one side of the paper shown white and the other side shown grey. That makes it really hard to understand what's going on in some situations. If the illustrations actually showed a dollar bill design, you could match up where the parts fell to know you were folding properly. John also has this tendency to do tricky folds that involve squashes and folds that will tie your brain in knots. It can easily take you several tries to figure out his more tricky moves on advanced designs. Again, better illustrations would help with this.
That all being said, you get an amazing collection of designs in this book, and your skills will definitely advance as you move your way through the designs. Well recommended!

Great gift for my 13 year old daughter!.......2007-01-19
We gave this to my daughter for Christmas and she loves it. She's an artistic sort of girl...likes origami, etc so it was right up her alley. We cannot believe all of the cool things she makes with a dollar bill and she can do it anywhere. It's a great conversation starter and has made her popular with her friends! Absolutely would recommend this book!
Great Book for Beginners.......2006-03-11
This was my first money folding book and I really liked it. I actually had bought it for a friend's daughter for her birthday. She and I sat down one day and folded many of the diagrams. I have since bought this book for several other people and always recommend it to beginners.

Buffalo Bill Badge, Bowtie, Dollar Ring, Dime-in-ring, Jumping Frog, Elephant, Peacock
PROs:
o Designs are well diagrammed - easy to follow and instructions are very clear (this is unusual for many origami books that leave you guessing). I've seen diagrams for some of these models elsewhere - but this book is worth buying just for the quality of the diagrams. Saves on much frustration! You don't need to know anything about origami to be able to follow this book.
o I REALLY liked most of the designs - many books have a few cool designs and others that are unrecognizable or just kind of eh - The designs in this book are remarkable good.
o Nice spiral bound book - this is a great feature when trying to read and fold.
o Includes interesting factoids about money! Educational as well as fun!
CONS:
o Not alot of diagrams.
GENERAL IMPRESSION:
This book is great for beginners. Diagrams are clear and not full of origami jargon. Models are interesting and fun. I have been folding money for years now --- and it all started with this book. Anyone who asks me for a recommendation - this book is the first on my list.

very good book.......2005-01-04
this book is really fun to read and make the projects. the instructions are easy and i especially like how the author included visual hints to make sure you're doing it right along the way( "You should be able to see half of the N in ONE when you're done" ). The visual checkpoints are helpful too--when the author says "Like this:" and has a picture of the project so far. Interesting dollar-related facts are sprinkled throughout the book and it is written in an easy conversational style that is very funny.
The only downside is that there are only 7 designs.

My 10 year old son loves this book. The diagrams are excellent. They are straightforward and simple to follow. You will definately be pleased with this book. It's well worth the money!

A Great Gift for Beginners or Experts in Paper Folding.......2005-12-29
I got this book for Christmas while I was deployed overseas with the Army and I loved it. I made three planes in the first day. This book will show you how to take $1 bills (or bigger if you are really rich) and fold them into recognizable (if you are an airplane geek) planes. The planes range from the simple (A Concord) to the difficult (747) and from the historical (WWI fighter) to sci-fi (The Enterprise). I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone under the age of 16 though, unless they have previous experience in paper-folding as some of the planes are very difficult to make.
When I received my book it was stuffed full of crisp $1 bills. I do not think the book comes like this as it was not shrink wrapped but it is a good idea if you are going to give the book as a gift (after all who wants to fold their own money).
While these planes are nice to look at, they have a few useful practices. If you can memorize how to make a few of them I am sure you could impress many people from your waiter/waitress/bartender to the attractive person sitting next to you on a long flight.
So if you need a quick gift for someone, or just want to entertain yourself for a few hours, I would recommend this book. The reason I only gave it four stars is because a few of the directions and illustrations are confusing, but you can usually wing it with no big consequences (pun intended).).
