Book Description
THEIR ROMANCE IS A COUNTRY FAIRY TALE. . . .
Tim McGraw and Faith Hill are two of the hottest stars in country music. As husband and wife, they've created a romance for the ages and a model marriage that includes two beautiful daughters. Since meeting and falling in love on their Spontaneous Combustion tour in 1996, Faith and Tim have become known in Nashville as the new Mr. and Mrs. Country Music.
As a child in a small Mississippi town, Faith dreamed of someday making it big in Nashville. At nineteen, she moved to Music City and struggled for years (including a retail job at Fan Fair!) before scoring her big break. Tim grew up riding horses and playing baseball in rural Louisiana. When he was eleven, he accidentally discovered his mother's deepest secret--that he is the biological son of pro baseball player Tug McGraw. Years later, Tim went on to match his father's success by becoming one of the most popular singers in Nashville.
Faith Hill and Tim McGraw's signature duet--the multiple-award-winning "It's Your Love"--is the love theme to a relationship in perfect harmony. To millions of fans, Tim and Faith represent romance, family, and great music. PERFECT HARMONY is a dazzling tribute to their inspiring story.

A Tim and Faith fan but..........2000-10-19
This book lacks depth. Its information is vague. It seems like Mr. Gray wrote it by doing an internet search and reading a few magazine articles. You won't find anything new here or see any pictures that you can't locate yourself on the internet. Save your money.
love those mcgraws!.......2000-05-02
I read this book and I thought that it made a very good story. It really does seem that tim & faith had a fairy tale romance. Though they did have a bump or two (the relatonship that she was in when they met). It paints a nice, happy picture of what has always appeared to be that and more. Any fan of Faith or Tim would love this book. I know that I did.It just should have been longer.

Great Read!!.......2003-03-17
The book was wonderful. The story within a story worked very well. With so many twists and turns, nothing and no one are what they seem. This story happens within 12 hours, which is amazing in itself. I loved Charlotte, Perfect Harmony, Gideon, and Jonathon. This book is a must read.
Another Wood Winner.......2001-09-10
This is the fast-paced story of Charlotte Lee, CEO of an herbal pharmaceutical company in California, involved not only in alternative medicine but in research for a cure for cancer. The action goes back and forth in time and place, tracing Charlotte's ancestors, Mei-Ling and Perfect Harmony, her grandmother who started the company when she arrived from Singapore as a 16 year old.
Wood peels back the layers of the stories in a way that kept me involved even though I usually am not too fond of flashbacks.
There were, however, a few improbable scenes and I thought the book could have been less dramatic in places.
Wood's books are always good reading, and it is evident that she does an amazing amount of research. Many of her books have a medical theme, usually non-conventional medicine. My favorite of her books was "Green City in the Sun", which was about Kenya - a wonderful story that gave me a lot of insight into this country. Another excellent one was "Virgins of Paradise", about Egyptian women and the family structure there. I even listened to the audio after reading the book. Both were packed full of interesting information that gave insight into how people in these places live.
great, great, great.......2001-04-15
This book was unbelievabely gripping and wonderful !!! I lovedit and I almost forgot to eat since I couldn't put it down until Ifinished it! The male hero (jonathan)is so lovable ! the only badthing I could say about the book is the maybe too melodramatic ending(the discovery of the ultimate family secret). otherwise, the book isgreat and, weirdly, it's the stuff about the computer in that bookthat made me interest myself about internet and online chatting!Barbara wood is my favourite writer, no doubt ! She seems to be awonderful woman too,you can check for yourself on her website ....
a very good read.......2001-01-30
One of the things that puts Barbara Wood into a class of her own in historic, adventure and now also in biotech thriller writing: her thorough background research. She puts a lot of work into creating a complex and rich historical as well as atmospheric background for her lead characters. And she does it quite well for characters from foreign cultural background: the main character in "Perfect Harmony" is Charlotte Lee, a young Chinese-American woman. She is the CEO of Harmony Biotech, a biopharmaceutical company specializing in Chinese herbal medicine. As dramatic events unfold in present time and Charlotte sees her company, her professional existence and her life threatened, Wood unfolds the story of Charlotte's family and the history of the company in an equally engaging parallel storyline, and drama picks up on the mystery as well as the romantic level. Barbara Wood is the master of generation-spanning scenarios and great family sagas, as she has demonstrated before in her Egyptian tale "Virgins of Paradise" and the Australian saga "Dreamtime". Even when her sometimes a bit overly dramatic and predictably romantic heroines every once in a while come across as old-fashioned, this does not compromise the overall quality of her storytelling. Wood is a wonderful storyteller and is performing at her best in "Perfect Harmony". Pick it up, kick off your shoes and don't plan anything else for the weekend.
maybe the best of barbara.......2001-01-28
this book is very interesting. Its a thriller based upon Chinese history, translated into modern amerivcan women in business life. I would definetely read it, as it gives a learning experience about generations and there changes, but also about family and love.. very romantic too...
Book Description
In each of these poems, taken from his long work The Interpreter of Desire, the Sufi master Ibn 'Arabi (1165-1240) evokes the transcendent experience of spiritual love—provoked by his encounter with a young Persian woman named Nizham, "harmony." Nizham becomes the emblem of the perfect expression of love, of beauty, of divinity. He discovers her and loves her in desert sand dunes, in the beneficent shades of rare groves, in the cool wind, in the dazzling sun—in all the movements of nature. Calligraphy (from the Greek for "beautiful writing") is an art where word and image meet, where the artist strives to give visual expression to the meaning of words in a way that transcends the text while remaining completely faithful to it. It is a discipline that has been invested with spiritual significance wherever it has arisen—and it has arisen throughout the world in every age, in virtually every language, culture, and religion. The Shambhala Calligraphy series is a collection of books devoted to contemporary expressions of this "art of the word," featuring contemporary calligraphers' striking new interpretations of texts that have been traditional subjects for calligraphic interpretation. Whether in Arabic, Greek, Hebrew, Latin, or Chinese pictographs, the characters, words, and sentences are brought to life anew here in a choreography of mind, hand, and heart by which letter and spirit fuse in a single stroke.

"A double letter at the moment of union".......2006-12-18
In this magnificent book, word and form achieve a perfect harmony like that of Ibn 'Arabi and his beloved. Ibn 'Arabi's beautiful, many-layered love poetry and Hassan Massoudy's luminous calligraphy are among the most astonishing things I've experienced in a long while. Read this and weep for what is happening now in Najaf, Massoudy's home town.
a treasure.......2002-11-12
This is a beautiful marriage of word and art, word in art, and divine revelation through intimate encounter with poetry. The calligraphy that meets the word creates a fire bed of understanding within you. At points while reading/experiencing this beautiful book I had to stop, lay down, and close my eyes. Such passion is generated and released within this short work. I love the picture of the calligraphor in the back of the book, very simple and authentic, at work in front of a huge shelf filled with glass jars of paints and colored powders. Thanks to Mr. Massoudy for letting Ibn Al-Arabi swirl through his work in all his rich, vibrant love-drenched wildness! WOW! Get this book! Keep it close!

Product Description
FOREWORD Unilateralism and cultural conflicts in the beginning of the 21st Century seem to be unstoppable in view of extremism between conflicting parties and the overwhelming U.S. media dominance around the globe. Even though the Western media may have all the good intentions of spreading democracy worldwide, to those who yearn for diversity of culture and international opinion in the United States, the American domination of world media and world government policies have been stifling indeed. The recent rediscovery of ancient Chinese philosophies of balance and harmony in China cannot be timelier. The U.S. is badly in need of a dose of the gentle, tolerant and accepting Eastern philosophy that is the essence of Chinese wisdom. This can be particularly inviting for those who are truly interested in Chinese language, culture and world harmony. This primer on ancient Chinese harmony teaching can hopefully bring a glimmer of light to those hopeful that The World of Harmony Will Surely Come . China during the last one hundred and fifty years, ever since the Opium War, has been searching for its identity. The present Peoples Republic of China, rising from the plunder of Western and Japanese Imperialism, is only fifty seven years old. It is relatively young and short in terms of China s glorious five thousand years of ancient history. For 2500 years China has benefited from the long tradition handed down from Laotze and Confucius which emphasized its rich cultural value in harmony teachings. It is this harmony culture that enabled China to survive changes in power, foreign invasions, internal strife, other struggles throughout its long history. Today, China has rediscovered its ancient heritage in the teachings of harmony, and, in doing so, China rediscovered itself. This is not unlike Europe s rediscovery of ancient Greek democracy during the European Renaissance period after the Dark Ages that led to the Enlightenment and the sp

Harmony Diplomacy Essential for World Development.......2007-05-11
Finally, Dr. Fung, having illuminated many of the problematic approaches currently being undertaken, leads the reader to the solution. Harmony is an approach that supports rather than censures, it is tolerant rather than judgemental and it is inclusive instead of being exclusive. Harmony is meant to encompass the fundamental principles that one ought to adhere to in all facets of life. Decision-making processes would be geared towards harmony, rather than personal gain, from an individual level all the way to a global plain.
Dr. Fung has taken a concept that is so seemingly simplistic and breathed a palpable life into it in this essay. The statement that he is making is direly needed and I hope that he continues to make statements like these so that people will start to realise that the solutions that are currently failing to solve the contentious issues of global peace will continue to fail until we realise that it is our very goal that is misguided. We need to establish global harmony before thinking about global peace. Harmony does not imply agreement, only tolerance. It is possible to bring harmony about quickly through education and compliance. Once the people of the world commit to harmony as a means to solve problems, the problems of the world will finally become manageable, and maybe then we will all "just get along".

not so great overall.......2007-01-05
There is a lot of good info in the book if you could see the illustrations well enough to know what's going on. The book needs updating badly as far as I am concerned. Much of the photography was so dark you could tell very little about what was being shown in the picture. And did I miss the part about subhilt fighters Loveless is famous for. I was disappointed in the book overall.
It was good for a blindman..........2003-10-03
The photo's was so bad that I am sending this book back to Amazon. What a rip-off, I got this book without thinking...it did not help me in any way, it is not for the beginner, it has no value for the novice knife maker out there.
Was a great help and gave me lots of ideas to get started.......2003-06-25
This book was a big help in giving me ideas getting started in knife making. Book was recomended to me by a Mastersmith out west and it was well worth the money.
How to Make Knives.......2001-10-04
This could have been a great book except for one thing. Obviously the publishers did not care enough when updating this book to update or even take the time to use quality photo's in their book. I would like to see what is going on in the book but most of the photo's are so awful you can only see shades of grey and black. To let all this effort by Loveless go to waste is a shame!
Save your money and buy an older version, one that hopefully has clear and quality photo's so you will know what R.W.Loveless is building or what step he is using.
The book itself is a great instructional tool. However you just can't get all that Loveless has to offer in this new version because you can not make out many of the photo's.
how to make knives.......2001-08-03
If you want to make knives with modern tools this is a good book to buy. Alo if you want to smith a blade using old techniques this book has little information to learn how. The chapter on forging gives a vage view on makeing one kind of simple blade ,and even then the author still talks about useing modern equipment. Even in the chapter on makeing knives in a modern shop he only desribes one kind of knife. Which was a single edged simple blade. He never mentioned in the entire book anything about throwing knives or more egzodick knives such as parrying dagger with moving parts. Infact he never mentioned a simple dager or dirk. Even in how vage the book is and leaves you with many questions about many other kinds of knives this would be a good book for someone who wants to make hunting knives or other simple blades.

great info, but very limited use for the hobbyist.......2005-01-01
this is a great book, you will see several professional knife makers work their magic & turn out beautiful high end folders.
the book is well worth the price for that alone!
BUT ...
dont buy this book thinking it will help you make knives, it wont , unless you own or have use of a well equipted machine shop, and the skill to use a milling machine etc.
as a hobby i have been making decent quality working knives for 20 years, including a few simple folders. however i can not even begin to use the techniques in theis book or afford the machines it assumes you have on hand.

It might have been a nice book........2003-01-14
Just got a copy of this for Christmas; latest printing I believe.
I haven't tried to make a folder yet, but I might give it a go soon. However, I'll be buying some other book before I try it.
OK These guys make knives and are the big names. I don't expect them to write well and I wasn't surprised. However, I was surprised on the print quality. Most of the pictures (which the authors rely on quite heavily) are nearly black. "In photo 14 you can see how to ...." In photo 14 you can't see squat.
Personally I think it's great that these guys are willing to share their methods. It's just a shame that the publisher is not doing them justice.
I also need to warn some readers that these 3 are professionals with professional equipment and professional methods. Some of us are garage knife makers and don't have milling machines. This makes their plans quite a bit harder to implement.
Overall if you want to know how these guys construct their knives, you will get a feel for it. If you already make folding knives, you might get some more ideas. If you want to use this book to learn how to do it, forget it.
Also, as another reviewer pointed out, this book is quite remiss in not covering linerlocks.
About par for the many books on this subject.......2002-11-24
I am a knife knut. There are three "make a knife" sections to this book. The authors - Lake, Centofante, and Clay are each well respected knifemakers. For a general idea of what goes into knifemaking this book is about average for the "let's write a book for our fans who aspire to make their own" book. It gives methods that each contributor goes through (learned after painstaking years of trial and error, hands on work). The text gives a pretty good description of each artists work, start to finish. As in most of the books in this price range and size, the pictures are not very helpful.
You will not become a knife maker reading this or any of the books like this one. It does show you how much talent and hardwork and knowledge you need to make just one knife though.
Excellent how - to. Lost my copy... buying another........1999-03-13
I believe that there are items in this book which are exactly what one is looking for if they would like to learn to make folders. I bought this book at a knife show a long time ago but misplacd it. Now I have enough room to set up a bench and think I will buy another copy and give it a go.
Detailed stuff, but buy only if you're a knifemaker.......1998-10-17
First off, I have to mention that I am a knife collector and enthusiast. The names of the authors would be instantly recognizable for their work and reputation. However, unlike the Loveless book it was intended to compliment, this work reads as a dry, mechanical, how-to of building folders. Sorry, Ron I love your knives and I dream of someday owning one, but this book won't convert many people into 'knife-nuts'
There is a lot of information here, but this book would probably be of interest to knifemakers. Also, not covering linerlocks, probably the most popular of the folder styles is a serious ommission.

The last word on multi-blade folding knives.......2000-05-03
The names of the authors (Shadley and Davis) would be instantly recognizable to knife collectors as the recognized masters of the multi-blade pocket knife, perhaps the most challenging project for beginning knifemakers. As far as I know, this is the only book in print that addresses multi-blade knifemaking directly, and thus am pleased to find that it turned out to be a great buy.
This book describes in detail the whole process of design, construction, and finishing these mechanical marvels. The text is precise, complete, and most importantly for the non-enthusiast, refreshingly readable (light on knife jargon). Illustrated with clear diagrams and pictures on every important step and generously endowed with hints and expert advice from the authors, this book is a classic on this specialized topic. If you have any interest in pocket knives or have ever wondered just how much craftsmanship goes into making one of these knives by hand, you'll be glad you bought this book.
A really usefull guide........2000-04-02
If you was ever intrigued by the multi-bladed folding knives, and wanted to know how to make your own, believe me - this is the book you need. I'm proud to have this book - since it showed me, exactly, how to design and construct all the little multi-bladed fascinating tools I ever wanted. If you want to make your folding knives too, buy this book and back to the bench! And good luck!

Good brochure-type instruction manual.......2007-01-20
A giveaway manual that Atlanta Cutlery used to send with do-it-yourself knife kits. I believe it was $3 if purchased separately. Very useful to the beginner who wishes to learn to assemble knives on a prepared blade. For similar, but modern, tutorials with color pictures, search Internet for North Coast Knives. Atlanta Cutlery still sells first-rate knife blanks, as do several other providers.
