Customer Reviews:
My kids loved this and I loved their learning!.......2004-12-30
As a teacher and home schooling mom, I've used this both with a class and with my own kids. The cards are great for language development as well as natural history, science. Since they're in card rather than book format, it's easy to use them for all kinds of games: putting the cards ofr each animal in order, finding the baby, adult or picture of feeding and explaining the differences between how each animal does this...

Excellent Book for Beginners in Reading!.......2002-08-28
As a school librarian-teacher I have used this book with children for its excellent content as an early non-fiction science book. It also has a wonderful repetitive reading style that is beneficial to new readers. The illustrations are warm and alive. All my students love the book and that says it all!!!

Customer Reviews:
Excellent for classroom setting.......2007-02-23
I teach first grade and have used this book for several of my reading groups. Since many schools in California are required to teach reading and math most the day now, it's great to have the opportunity to bring in a little science. Excellent pictures, simple text, complex concepts... My students loved it!
Most young children would enjoy reading this book at home as well.
Great Book for Young Children - a review of "Where Do Frogs Come From".......2006-01-25
This is an excellent science book for young children. At each turn of the page they will find clear, bright, interesting photos that demonstrate the growth cycle of our amphibian friends.
The text is good. The sentences are simple and clear and easily understandable by toddlers on up. (A good read-aloud.)
Amazon has the reading age as 4 to 8, but the book is *Level 2*, which the book itself suggests for children in the 6-8 age range.
Five Stars. We like this little book. Good Read-aloud. Good information. Pictures and information appeal to all ages whether they can read or not. [They really did manage to find very attractive frogs-lol]
Big, Cool Frog Pictures.......2003-02-27
This fun little book is filled with big, detailed image of frogs from every stage, from egg to frog, It does an excellent job at showing the different levels of growth of tadpoles. There are some nice shots of tadpoles with legs starting to sprout.
There are no more than 16 words per page, making it reader-friendly for ages 5-7.
I fully recommend "Where Do Frogs Come From."

very neat science easy reader.......2002-08-16
My son is 7 and he read this book at the library to me while we were doing a unit on frogs. The book had get real frog pictures. Also the book only had a few words per page so it's great for begining readers. Lot of great info in the book as well!
Customer Reviews:
Frog lover's delight.......2007-03-19
My three-year-old daughter has a great fondness for frogs. This book gave her a simple explanation of a frog's life with very beautiful, delicate illustrations and simple, to the point text. We have "A Lady Bug's Life" also which we have read over and over again until it has fallen apart. When adults are around and I read these books aloud to my daughter they always say that they, too, have learned something they didn't know.

How to Build Dioramas, Second Edition, by Sheperd Paine. New photos and new projects lend a whole new look to this updated classic by one of the leading experts in the field. In addition to tips on painting, weathering and detailing for everything from figures to aircraft, this remarkable work offers lots of ideas for displaying military models.
Customer Reviews:
A great place to start.......2007-05-09
This book is a great place to start your journey into scale modeling. Although the title suggests that the focus of the book is simply dioramas, that is not true. Shep Paine takes us through several basic and intermediate steps concerning the completion of the model itself before addressing the diorama as a whole. The chapters on figure modification are worth the cost of the book itself.
Highest recommendation.
Great Entertaining Guide.......2005-11-05
I haven't started using any of the techniques from this book. I will say that it is entertaining simply to read through it and get ideas from the many pictures.
amazing diaromas.......2004-03-30
this book has many tips. ý recommend all modeller especialy for beginer. after ý read this book my diaromas have a lot of detail. this book enlarge your imagination and you wish make very realistic and detailed diaromas. thanks for Sheperd Paine
Best Diorama How Too.......2003-03-11
I purchased this book along with the Verlinden Vol 1 and I must say that there is a big diffrence in information. Paine has much more explanation of the planning and building process than the Verlinden books. It covers a lot in just one book.
I re-discovered my hobby!!!.......2002-11-08
Being a Naval Modeller,it's difficult for me to find books about my hobby. When I decided to buy Shep's book.... WOW! It made me think about what is my real interest: Building Naval Dioramas (even though there are not many naval topics in the book). It gives ideas for any kind of modeller, and more important, it gives inspiration with its astonishing photos!

The Bible of Car Diorama Building.......2006-04-12
Simply put, Hamilton's book will make you into a better builder . . . it is a treasure trove of useful information, tips, techniques, and tricks . . . plus the writer has a great sense of humor and the fun he has building and sharing how to build better comes through on every page. Great photographs too. Get yourself a copy, but also get copies for your builder friends--they will really appreciate it and never forget you for having done so.

Make Your Models Come To Life!.......2001-10-04
Finally,a diorama book that doesn't focus on battle scenes (but those guys can learn a LOT with this book).
Instead, Ken shows how to spice up your automotive subjects, from simple display base scenes to complete, contained scenes.
Rust, mud, grime, and slime. Beaten, dented, worn out, used and abused. Ken shows you how.
Also, there is plenty about texturing, photo-reducing and sign-making, as well as an excellent primer on figure posing and painting.
This is a book that has been long overdue for model car builders, but as I said, anyone who works with scale models of any sort will find this to be a gold mine.
Great source for cars dioramas!.......2001-08-31
Great book which will help you to build your cars or trucks dioramas.
There are very nice examples which take you step by step in building nice dioramas. It can help and begginers and expert modelers to improve their models.
