Only the first 33 pages of this 190 page book are GWP specific. The rest is generic dog care info, and lots of marketing for certain brands of dog chews etc. Buy it if you are GWP mad, like us, and must have every book about them you can. Otherwise, don't! And definitely don't buy it expecting to find out what the breed is really like, or if they would suit you as a pet. This book does not contain enough information to help you make this type of decision! The only good point is the pictures in the first 33 pages.

This book provided an excellent read and a good overall picture of the topic. Even though it is written for the American market it has a lot of information that is transferrable to Australia and other countires. A good buy for people interested in the topic, especially for beginners such as myself.

This is the best book on driving horses that I have ever read, and I've read everything on the subject that I can find. The information is not confined to farming with horses. This is a wonderful "story" book - it covers the story of the pottery and the people who helped make it what it is today. It's a well-written, easy-to-read accounting - I read it in one sitting! It's not a complete reference of pieces created by the pottery, but it has wonderful full color photos of many items which are worth the price alone!

I have been collecting Hagen Renaker for 30 years and this book still added to what I knew about the factory and it's artists. The text is well written and informative and the pictures are luscious! It's a definite must have for the Hagen Renaker collector.

Hagen-Renakers have been a passion of mine since I saw my first "Forever Amber" in the early 1970s. Later, I was driven to collect information on H-R and that drive resulted in the H-R Handbook in 1989 and the Charlton Guide in 1999. To me, Nancy's book transcends the mere information-gathering and tells the Hagen-Renaker story - the whys and wherefores of this bunch of people expressing themselves in clay. They made so many things - goofy, beautiful, bizarre - you just knew something special had to be going on there. The colors and detail of some pieces is just amazing and Nancy's book shows that.
I hate to admit it, but sometimes I dream of H-Rs and I absolutely got gooseflesh when I read of Pat Kristof still dreaming of being "at the pottery after all those years." This book is that dream.

I have this book for my daughter and she gets some really great help with this book. You dont even really need to be able to read to get the help this book offers. Just look at the pictures and copy what is all ready there. My daughter is already improving! If you have kids that like to draw and love horses this is the book for them!

I highy recommend this book. This book is a must have for the Hartland and model horse collector. It is very thorough. Easy to read for younger collectors, too. A lot of work went into this book. The pictures and information are just wonderful. It has helped me with identifying and catloging my own collection.. I take it with me when I going antiquing. I would highly also recommend her other book: Hartland Horses and Dogs.

I have always enjoyed collecting western characters and their horses, dogs, etc. This book finally puts it all together. The book also allows me to look at pictures of pieces I can only dream about. The information is terrific and the photos are superb. If you are an "old cowboy" like me, you need at least one copy of this book!

Gail Fitch has done a superb job of putting together extrememly detailed and accurate information about all of Hartland's horse and rider figures, with lots of very nice pictures showing details that complement the text. This book has gotten rave reviews from non-Hartland collectors as well as all kinds of horse collectors, and they are well deserved! This is a book that can keep you happily absorbed for long periods of time and it's an essential reference for collectors. Hartland Horsemen is an excellent book, very professionally done, and I love it! Like someone else said, I can't wait until the Hartland horse book is done so I can buy it!

I love this book! I don't know what else the author could have included -- it is so complete. I especially like the fact that the book is broken into sections, i.e. the horses and riders, the standing gunfighters, the riders and the horses shown separately in other sections. I also enjoy the history section in the back, and the detailed written descriptions about the models and their variations. The quality of the color photos is superb and I would highly recommend this book to any Hartland collector. I can't wait till her book on the breed horses comes out!
