I only gave this book one star as this book seems geared strictly towards new dog owners. The Frenchie photos are cute, but not much info that I could use.

Comprehensive and easy to follow........2005-05-22

This is a great book for any Frenchie owner. Unlike some books which claim to be breed specific but aren't this book contains lots of information on French Bulldogs. It covers housebreaking, Feeding, Grooming, Health and so much more. There are lots of great photos as well. I got this book shortly before getting my Frenchie, and it was so helpful. It's written in a way that someone new to the breed like me, or someone that is intreseted in a pet rather then a showdog can understand. This is a book written by a true Frenchie lover, for Frenchie lovers and newbies.

I bought this book when we were leaning towards getting a French Bulldog and wanted more in-depth information. The author is a well-respected breeder of Frenchies with many years of experience. It is full of all the information you need without excessive information that would overwhelm someone trying to decide if this is the right breed for them. Read this book and you will be well prepared for your flat-faced family member on arrival!

Very Helpful Book With Lots Of Accurate Info........2005-03-27

After aquiring my first Frenchie puppy a few months ago, I read this book cover to cover. Now I use it almost daily as a resource--I even quote this book at my vet's office. I would definitely recommend this book to any future Frenchie owner as it has really been a lifesaver for me.

I saw this book at PetSmart and fell in love with the photographs and captions, and was thrilled to find it on Amazon. Amanda Jones captured the essence of the dogs she photographed very well, and managed to match appropriate celebrity quotes about dogs as well as provide random humorous captions for the featured shots. I have this book on our coffee table, because we enjoy paging through it often. We have a Frenchie and have found these dogs have particularly hilarious personalities - Amanda Jones has done a great job in capturing the heart of French Bulldogs in this book. It's a 'must have' for owners and lovers of this breed.

There's something very Zen about these photographs, about the dogs themselves, and the captions are very funny and endearing. Why am I writing a review for Amazon when I work for Barnes & Noble?? Because this is a beautiful and captivating book, a funny book, and if you're not already a dog lover, this book will make you one. This one made it into my personal collection.

Muriel Lee is one of the country's foremost dog book writers and it shows in this book! This edition was written for distribution in the United Kingdom, and personally, I love looking at the photos of many of the European dogs. A witty book containig Haikus, Tankas, an a variety of other forms of poetry that are very enchanting. My 2 year old loves to sit and look at the pictures and have me read the poems. The pictures go along with the context of the poem. A nice read to sit and reflect upon. The poem describe feeling and actions of the dogs in the book. Very charming!!

This book is just a generic dog book with a few pages devoted to the French Bulldog. Those few pages have no information that even someone with a casual acquaintence with the breed would not know already.

Save your money!

Dog book in disguise.......2001-10-17

I purchased this book wanting information regarding french bulldogs prior to getting a new pet. After meeting with breeders and reading information from them, this book is in no way adequate in informing potential owners of this rare breed. It also cost me a lot more than $4.99, try Australian $29.00, money not well spent.The book is mostly regarding dog care which can be obtained in vast quantities from other sources.

This book has a few pages on French bulldogs and then is filled with generic dog information...some of which is actually incorrect for Frechies. Save the money...this book isn't worth it.

More Frenchies, s'il vous plait.......2000-04-26

I was disappointed in this book when finding out that only about the first 1/4 actually contained info specific to French bulldogs; the rest was just generic dog info and worse yet, seemed to be a 'plug' for a brand of dog chew toys. It reeked of being a "dog book" template -- switching out the breed info on a few pages, adding a new cover, some photos, and voila! The reinforced binding may be sturdy, but it makes it very hard to hold or keep open. Best aspects were some adorable Frenchie photos, but even those were outnumbered by cartoonish drawings and photos of other breeds! Sacre bleu!

Oppi's thoroughness and attention to the detail in this book is amazing. Pictures and illustrations are just magnificent. Oppi covers the jewelry of maharajas to jewelry of tribal people. The jewelry descriptions in this book include every region and every style there is in India. I bought this book when I was asked to talk about India's jewelry at an art museum. This book definitely improved my knowledge about the subject.

Traditional Jewelry of India.......2000-08-04

Oppi's book is magnificent. It is a culmination of over thirty years of Oppi's research. His book covers more than just Indian jewelry, but forehead marks and henna mendhi.

Inspired by trips to New York's museums when he was young, Oppi crafts a anthropological journey through a fascinating history of human ornamentation, beginning with wood ash and mud. Oppi traveled extensively to personally research his subject in association with scholarships he won, including a Fulbright scholarship and funding from John D Rockefeller III.

He shows the use of natural items in jewelry, such as leaves, flowers, seeds, vines and wood. Unusual jewelry materials like anteater claws are pictured. Of course, gemstones and precious metals are included. There are photos of elegant gold filigree and fist-sized gemstones.

My favorite part of the book is called "Typology from Head to Toe" in which Oppi takes you on a journey in pictures of people wearing ornaments in their hair to those worn on the toes. The book includes an extensive index and bibliography. It is a very human book, showing how ornaments are worn by people, not just showing photos of the ornaments alone as many other ethnic jewelry books do.

Although you might think the subject of Indian jewelry is narrow before you see the book, a glance through the book will make you want to own it even though the sticker price is high.

Oppi Untracht provides a wealth of knowledge about India/Pak.......1999-02-19

An excellent and well researched study with extraordinary photographs by a well known scholar of Indian art. 430 interesting pages that are very well presented to the reader. You'll find possibly more detail than you may need, but you can return later for the items you missed.
