Good Product.......2007-05-15
This book has helped me a great deal with the diagnosis of my canine. I would suggest it to anyone facing these diseases.
Book Review.......2007-03-09
This book was exceptional in the help it provided with my newly sick dogs. I was able to find many ways to help them and me through this.
An Excellent Guide.......2006-11-03
I am a veterinary assistant, but by no means an expert on diabetes in dogs. My heart sank when one of my dogs was diagnosed with diabetes with an initial glucose level of 570. I was shocked, since she was neither overweight, was on a high fiber diet, plenty of exercise and is a mutt. We were in good shape.
As soon as she was diagnosed with diabetes I purchased this book and have to say it was a God sent. It took away my fears of her not being able to live a normal , active, happy life. It is very reassuring to know that Caroline Levin is a registered nurse and most of all has had the experience of having had a dog with diabetes. She has done all the research for us with dogs with Diabetes, Panceatitis, Cushing's Disease etc.. This book is so comprehensive that it answered all of my questions.
My dog is happy and active and with a few lifestyle changes we are in good shape again.
Thank you Ms. Levin for sharing your knowledge and experience.
Dogs, Diet & Disease: An Owner's Guide to Diabetes Mellitus, Pancreatitis, Cushing's Disease, & More.......2006-11-01
Informative book especially for someone who has a dog with one of the abovementioned diseases. It helped me understand more about diabetes and what I should do to best take care of my dog.
This book turned sorrow into solutions.......2006-07-23
Having just been diagnosed this year with diabetes, my beloved Coco and I were struggling with the newness of our changed routine, diet, schedule etc. This book helped educate me and put it all in perspective and find the right program for Coco.
Understanding led to action which led to strength and control of our new situation. A must read for all canine diabetes families.

Practical Guide.......2007-10-11
A good reference my wife and I have already found useful in dealing with our outside farm animals.
Must have!.......2007-01-05
This book is a must have for anyone who wants to have farm animals and doesn't know anything about animals. It is in depth and informative with instructions on how to enclose, feed and care for your farm animals. It is truthful about when you need a vet and when you don't, if you want to save money, time and energy read this book before you buy your land, animals and equipment!
Veterinary Guide for Animal Owners.......2005-09-07
The book contained all the info I was looking for
Excellent Reference.......2001-06-17
At our house, you never know what the kids will bring home next or the parents for that matter. This book has been a quick reference on any new species introduced to our household as far as domesticated animals---we do have a gecko and unfortuately there is no info on exotics in this book. It has become a well worn book as we thumbed through finding answers to problems and also on ways to prevent future problems. We have 3 cats, 2 dogs, a bunch of chickens(cochins and silkies), 2 pigs, a pygmy goat, a shetland sheep and an African Fat tailed Gecko so we needed a book that would cover a lot and this has answered many questions. It has more than paid for itself----if it saves just one vet visit!
THE ANSWERS CAN ALL BE FOUND IN HERE.......2000-08-19
This book more than paid for itself in the first 15 minutes of reading. As the owner of 2 cows, 3 cats, 7 dogs, & 8 goats, I have been using this book as my animal bible. It's written in terms that everyone can understand and the directions are clear and precise. It's saved me many calls and visits to my vet. This is a MUST HAVE book for every pet or animal owner.

Any who want to go the herbal route for the horse will welcome a book which covers not just herbs but massage, aromatherapy, vibrational healing and more. Chapters link common horse conditions to effective natural healing choices and expand greatly on the options a horse owner can choose for optimum horse health.

How to be the Leader of the Pack...And have Your Dog Love You For It. ("How to" booklets from Dog's Best Friend)
ASIN: 1570760365 |
Customer Reviews:
Excellent read for any dog owner or trainer.......2006-03-17
Reading this book has inspired me to follow my dream to become a dog trainer. The late John Fisher has an excellent understanding of dogs. It is written in a simple way that anyone can understand it. Once I started reading it I couldnt put the book back down. Well worth every penny!
Not worth the read.......2001-10-25
I've read several dog behavior books and worked with dogs for years. This book, however, was disappointing. He begins with the assumption that most dogs owners not only don't know how to train a dog, but actually seriously mistreat their dogs. He presents techniques in two veins. Some involve scaring the dog into doing the right thing by throwing things at him/her or by making a loud noise. Others are reasonable, positive, reward-based strategies, but he presents them as if it were some great, original idea that no one had ever thought of before. There are plenty of much better dog behavior/training books out there that are much better reads.
Great read; Excellent reference.......2000-03-24
A quick, easy, and entertaining read that is crammed full of practical and easy-to-use training pointers. Gives readers a basic understanding of dog psychology and guides them in correcting behavior problems with simple steps. Readers should also be able to identify undesirable behaviors at their onset in the future and correct them more easily. Not terribly in-depth in psychology, but extremely effective in training technique. All methods are "dog friendly" and build/reinforce a positive relationship between dog and owner.
everyone agrees.......1999-12-31
I can't think of how many books I've read on dogs. This is my favorite. Each person who asked me how I trained my dog or asked how to solve a problem, I send them my tattered and torn copy. I finally bought a second one. This will help you take a step back and see what YOU are doing wrong while conditioning your body language to communicate to your dog. Easy read.
Marvelous reading!.......1999-07-18
I found this to be a fascinating book on dog behavior and understanding of their psyche. I couldn't put it down until I had finished it and I refer to it all the time. I've tried some other books but they never held my interest like this one.
Book Description
A comprehensive manual to alternative horse care, this guide helps horse owners discover simple ways to have a positive impact on their horse's health and quality of life—from the latest research and comprehensive guidelines for natural care to acupuncture and herbal supplementation.
Customer Reviews:
Great overview of what can be done for your horse........2007-06-08
This book serves as a wonderful reference for the health of my equines. It gives very descriptive things that can be done. Recently when my warmblood foundered, I found the suggestions very helpful and empowering. I got to implement some of them right away and therefore made my girl more comfortable in this hard situation. I highly recommend this book as it takes the mystery out of many different approaches of equine care and gives one the opportunity to make informed, well thought out choices.
Happy for the paperback.......2007-01-21
I own the hardback edition of this book and am very pleased the paperback edition has arrived. Sent it to a good friend looking for the pressure points of the horse, which Mary does a great job of showing in the sketches provided. This is the best alternative medicine book I have found for the horse.
Great.......2007-01-09
I bought this book for my girlfriend and she said that if she didn't have it she never would have passed some of her college classes last quarter.
Thank God for this book!!.......2003-02-15
As I am coming into more holistic approaches to life, I have found this book to be a Bible!! As it covers so many topics, giving guidance to directions for all of us, I can easily understand the value of this book!! Amust for all readers who want to keep their Equine healthy and sound --Naturally!!
Complete Holistic Care.... Brennan/Eckroate: a review.......2001-09-23
This comprehensive volume addresses dozens of concerns for the horse owner, covering traditional and alternative health practices. The book is very complete in covering the health care options in two sections. The first part dealing with health care is an overview of traditional and holistic options. The final section of the volume is a comprehensive listing (with photos) of typical horse ailments with specific recommendations for each one. The entire book is written in a style easily understandable by the novice, but not too simplistic for the experienced horse owner. Photos and very complete appendices round out the coverage for this topic. Additionally, Brennan includes a comprehensive horse management section which is equally impressive in its scope, covering topics such as diet, grooming, tack and trailering. This book is truly a "must have" for the concerned horse owner.
