Savor Your Guests.......2003-05-21
I love this cookbook. Because not only is it about cooking, but about entertaining as well. There are great menu suggestions and even decorating tips on making the occasion more enjoyable.
The recipes are wonderful. Your guests will go away very satisfied.
I highly recommend this for any one who loves to cook and entertain.
For what it's worth.........2002-01-27
A nice book but I would have liked it alot more if more of the
photos were of the actual recipes. Very few reflect recipes in book. I have not tried many recipes yet, this is my first impression. It just seems a little over-done and not as easy as
most cookbooks to sort through.
A lot of lovely ideas.......2001-10-10
I bought the cd-ROM version and it works really well, simple, user friendly, with beautyful recipes well explained, stunning suggestions to make every occasion unforgettable and good pictures.Really worth having it in my home!An example I liked better, the suggested tea-party :really something different!

One of the best regional cookbooks for Northwest Louisiana.......2007-10-06
This cookbook not only has great recipes, but the photography of the food and of the area is outstanding. The history of the area that is provided in the cookbook provides answers to questions about the origins of our traditions. I reviewed the recipes and they are among the top recipes of the area, including some from well known restaurants that were a delightful suprise (Superior's Queso). A variety of excellent recipes are provided, from TexMex to authenic Cajun. The crawfish corn soup (chowder) is wonderful. This cookbook would be a welcomed gift for someone who once lived in the area as well as for us natives who are still here.
Great for Entertaining!.......2007-07-01
This is a beautiful book that not only has great recipes but also has beautiful pictures of life in Shreveport-Bossier! The proceeds from the sale of this cookbook go to fund community events supported by the JLSB. My favorite recipe is the Chipolte Prawns with Goat Cheese Polenta which is a recipe straight from local favorite restaurant Bella Fresca! It is one of many "secret" recipes that are shared in this great text. Also, try the cranberry salsa, herbed tomatoes, and turtle candy. Enjoy!
Mardi Gras to Mistletoe Cookbook.......2007-01-09
The book not only has wonderful new recipes but it has a lot of history about Louisiana traditions in the copy. It is a very good book to read as well as to use for the recipes. It is a beautiful book that could easily be a coffee table book because the pictures are so wonderful. For cooking it has some difficult as well as easy recipes. I especially like the shrimp and grits casserole and the turnip green casserole.
Book Description
This cookbook spiced with Cajun traditions and food memories, is bursting with recipies and stories chronicling Cajun ways, past and present. You'll learn to make dishes using basic pantry items. The book features prints and cover by the late nationally known Cajun artist Floyd Sonnier. Over 60,000 copies have been sold.
Customer Reviews:
One of the best cajun cookbooks.......2004-03-10
This book contains wonderful stories as well as recipes from those cajun ladies in south Louisiana. The recipes are usually quick and easy to make, your company will think you spent the entire day in the kitchen. I have found many of these recipes are great for entertaining either large or small groups. Some of my favorite recipes are Crawfish Fettuchine, Aunt Doodie's Chocolat Cake and Cherrie Bounce. If you have tried the other two Jr. League of Lafayette cookbooks you will truely fine this book continues the tradition of fine southern Louisiana cooking.
A great cookbook for families on the go.......2004-03-09
I love this book for it's easy, delicious recipes and wonderful stories about life in Southern Louisiana. Many of these recipes have become family favorites at our house. The recipes use fewer ingredients and most recipes are quick and easy for those of us without a lot of time.
There are better Cajun Cookbooks available.......2001-09-17
First: the positive-
The drawings in this book are wonderful. They are very true to life (at least for the part of Louisiana my husband comes from.)
The stories are the reason I bought this book. There is a lot of information regarding the culture and traditions of the Acadians and the lifestyle of Southern LA. The recipes are good.
Second: the needs work part-
These recipes were gathered together from a group of people. Because of this, many of the recipes are not typically cajun recipes. For example, there are many pasta recipes which have nothing to do with Cajun cooking. If you are looking for a cookbook with traditional Louisiana cooking try Talk about Good.
However, if you collect cookbooks and want to add an interesting cookbook to your collection, this is the one. Just realize that you will find many recipes in this book that are already in other cookbooks. If you are interested in reading about Louisiana and want some traditional recipes, this is a good book to get. Just realize that there will many non-Louisiana recipes included in this book.
Good Only as a Supplement.......2000-12-09
This book can't really stand on its own, but is a good supplement to Talk About Good I and II. The artwork is great the stories by Sonnier are delightfully nostalgic. I found the text, however, to be unorganized and the recipes seemed to be reminiscent of ones that could be found on the back of a Campbell's Soup can. As a transplanted Cajun living away from Louisiana, I always refer to T.A.G. I and II and use them religiously and only refer to Tell Me More if I want a variation on a recipe that I already know.
Customer Reviews:
Best of the old south.......2001-02-09
Filled with recipes from "old style" southern cooking, not for the calorie/cholesterol counting folks. We all have a copy of this in my family and have for many years. Our favorite recipe is the asparagus casserole...yum!!!
Customer Reviews:
Wonderful for Special Days.......2005-04-27
This cookbook has been a staple of mine for more than 10 years now. While I rarely use it on a daily basis, whenever I have a special occasion, this is where I turn. From taking Dixie Caviar to work to fixing Pork Chops with Browned Garlic Butter Sauce for Mother's Day to baking Jalapeno Cheese Grits for Christmas breakfast, this cookbook always has something for me. And the personal stories that acompany many of the recipes are a delight to read. A truly wonderful addition to any cookbook collection and a great gift for others.
Every recipe is outstanding.......2000-05-09
Each recipe we've prepared from this book has been superb--easy to make and delicious! I wish there were more in a series to cover other international cuisines.
Am proud to be from Memphis with a cookbook like this.......1999-06-09
My husband is the main cook of our family, but I do try to cook sometimes - I am one that has to have a recipe, and that has to look at several before deciding what to cook. Both of us love this cookbook. It is one of our top 2 (The other is Gracious Goodness, which also happens to have originated in Memphis, put out by the Memphis Symphony.) All of the recipes we've tried have been great, and we frequently get asked for the recipe, especially for the prociutto wrapped asparagas, and I don't really even like plain asparagas but these are a treat! We bought a half dozen of these to give as gifts. The salads I've tried have also been great. Anyone who likes to cook would love this pretty and classy Southern book.
This is my all-time favorite cookbook........1998-09-03
Of the many cookbooks I own, this is my very favorite. I have given it as a gift several times, and everyone I know who owns it agrees that it is great! The recipes are wonderful and most are relatively simple: common, easy-to-find ingredients, reasonably quick preparation, and things that just sound good! I entertain frequently, and this is the first book I go to for ideas. I've often been asked for recipes taken from this book. Additionally, the presentation of the book is pretty and fun--delightful stories and good cooking tips, along with lovely photos. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys cooking or seeks a gift for someone who does. You won't be disapppointed!

Made in Japan collectibles.......2007-06-14
I collect older (collectible) MADE IN JAPAN items and therefore I have quite a few books on the subject. This book is not complete but quite helpful. Photos are nice.
Many different volumes have been written on this subject. Infact, I own 3 other books on this subject.
When "Made in Japan" collectibles were issued there were sooooo many different items sold, that it would be impossible to include all of them in just one book. The author tried and did a good job though.
Collectors Guide to Made in Japan Ceramics.......2007-06-03
This was an awesome product for me to have because I have alot of ceramics that have the made in japan labels on them. It is really fun to look them up to see if what you have is worth anything.
