Book Description
In this book, the author examines the history and applications of urine therapy. This ancient Eastern tradition has only just begun to gain popularity in the West as a natural alternative to modern drugs and surgery. Urine therapy is the oldest natural remedy, and can be used either internally or externally to aid in a variety of ailments. This book is valuable because not only does it examine the research and verification of the effectiveness of urine therapy, but it also takes a more personal approach with its many insights and personal stories. The Golden Fountain is definitely one of the most comprehensive and convincing treatises on urine therapy available today.

Wow, I could have had a V8.......2007-01-02
And I don't even like V8, but anything beats the recycling system offered in this book. And I like recycling, too.
This one's a little too salty for me. A "pisser," as they said in my backwards suburban youth, this is not.
High Five!!!.......2006-11-17
We has been doing the drink of fermented horse urine for the many decades here in my home village in Kazakhstan. Are particular excellent results--High Five!!--for Village Idiot Bogdan who also is teacher at school. We now export to capital city in exchange for bladderwort cake. Everyone in village very happy for to drink continually especial during festival for Blotov the Coward, hero of Great Patriotic War.
A VARY GOOD BOOK.......2006-08-30
The book is vary good, BUT it depends on changing your lifestyle, and changing the way you eat. Which is VARY GOOD, eating more fresh vegetables& fruit, cutting down on the meat (colestrol). It takes a little bit of getting used to and it is the only thing that will get you back into shape.BUT IT IS WORTH THE TROUBLE. The book "The Hippocrates Diet" by Ann Wigmore, and "The New York Times Natural Foods Cookbook" are the best combo of books to let your body back to doing what GOD made it to do, That is to get well and stay well. I HAVE NOT used the Urine Therapy, so I can't say wheather it works or not. A person should not knock something they have not tried. It may be JUST WHAT YOU NEED for your ailment.
Well written and enlightening.......2006-06-02
It works people. You just have to do it safely. For women, mid stream, build up slowly to 1 glass a day. Do it in the early morning as that is the most nutritional of the day. It is antiseptic for a max of 15 minutes and then it is the opposite. It is tasteless if your diet is excellent. If you eat a highly processed diet you will taste the chemicals in those foods and it will taste horrid. My diet is healthy so it doesn't have any taste at all. If you try it and it seems salty well there is your diet again telling you something. I've used it to heal wounds on my hands when nothing else was helping. The prime minister of India who was known for this habit lived well into his 90's and had no maladies.
Urinetastic.......2005-10-31
Theory is important, as is history, but let's be honest - practice is where it's at. And I found the recipe section to be sorely lacking. The crab bisque with piss is lovely, but come on - how about detailing some other soups. I guess you can technically augment any soup with your whizz, but some work better than others (cream of tomato? ick!), and if the authors already know this, they could certainly have saved us some time. My family refuses to taste-test my little soup experiments for whatever reason, so I bet I've spent a month now trying all the different variations. And how about the cocktail section? The piss n' tonic is pretty standard and not that hard to figure out by oneself. Why waste ink on that when we might have gotten into some more complicated and festive summer punches and fizzes? Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the effort overall. I just hope somebody will put a bit of effort into the various ways to entertain with piss and to more palatably enjoy it oneself.
Book Description
In their third uncensored romp through British and European cuisine, TV's doyennes of decadent food let it rip with all-new, rebelliously rich recipes and food for thought. This raucous ride finds Clarissa Dickson Wright and Jennifer Paterson storming across the cattle and pig farms of Britain to reclaim meat-eaters, searching through dead royals' repertoires for time-tested treasures, and even venturing down under to Australia for their delectable gems.
Companion to their hit series,
The Two Fat Ladies Full Throttle offers a diversity of dishes that makes menu planning easy. These intensely flavored recipes deliver palate-pleasing meals that are a delight on your plate as well, for as Clarissa maintains, "Nothing is worse than an all-white menu."
In their own inimitable fashion, the Ladies tackle everything from potent cocktails and savory soufflés to full-flavored pheasant. Appetizers range from satisfying soups spiked with exotic notes like a Chicken and Ginger Soup to tasty crêpes, mousses, tarts, and terrines. Whether it's lamb wrapped in delicate phyllo pastry or a beef stew served with pumpkin scones, main dishes are both comforting and heartwarming, delivering a full measure of robust flare. When it comes to poultry, the Ladies incorporate a wide variety of seasonings to create Calcutta Chicken Croquettes and Spanish Chicken Andalouse. They attack side dishes with similar gusto. A fetchingly colored Tomato Tart and Sugar-Browned Potatoes, laced with a divine caramelized sugar, bring zest to even simple entrées. To finish off these hearty offerings, indulge in the Ladies' desserts, which include creamy custards, Apple Balls smothered in pastry, and a daringly delicious Chocolate Crème Brûlée.
Never has indulgence been so over the top and so very tempting. Replete with hilarious anecdotes from their forays into the British countryside and beyond the Channel,
The Two Fat Ladies Full Throttle includes full-color photos of finished dishes. Just as their popular cooking series and two best-selling books won them a place in our hearts,
The Two Fat Ladies Full Throttle offers us more delightfully decadent meals that are sure to please.

British cookery at its best.......2002-11-30
Classic British cuisine for the modern world. Baroque indulgence as opposed to lean, mean, designer fare. Something for everyone, from the experienced cook to the beginner. Served up in a very witty style.
For those who can't cook and would like to impress their friends, not to worry - just whip up some Cosmopolitan cocktails (vodka, cranberry juice, lime juice ...mmmmmmm) and Welsh Rarebit Souffles (gourmet version of cheese on toast) with salad on the side. If you can't manage those, I suggest cooking classes.
Intermediate and experienced cooks will find many recipes for soups, fish, fowl, meat and game and vegetable sides which are also easy to adjust to one's own taste. I myself don't follow all the recipes slavishly but use them for inspiration, tweaking a bit here and there to suit available ingredients and personal taste. In addition, there are a few rabbit recipes, which I found useful - organic rabbit meat has just become available in my town.
There is something for every occasion, from leek soup to trout in a good French rose (the wine). For every budget as well - from cheap fish and cuts to pheasant and salmon.
For the cutting edge postmodernist cook, I suggest Fragomammella (Strawberry Breasts), taken from the Italian Futurist Cookbook and Penis Stew (apparently an old Orthodox Jewish recipe).
The core of the book is classic British cuisine (Beef Wellington and grouse anyone?) with a world twist - a touch of the medieval and Elizabethan, India, Singapore, Spain, Russia, I can't count the countries that inspire some of the recipes. If you don't fancy British, there is a good recipe for Singapore Prawns with Bugis Street Sauce. Lots of down to earth recipes as well as haute cuisine fare - tripe and onions, the classic tomato tart, even an American inspired Strawberry Shortcake.
I myself am weak on desserts but Plum Kuchen looks yummy and not to difficult to attempt. Chocolate souffle is included for those more classically minded.
In my humble opinion - a Desert Island Keeper of a cookbook.
Two "Phat" Ladies!.......2002-11-28
Okay, off on yet another one of my anglophillic, praise-ridden reviews, but sometimes, or even very often, British entertainment is just miles and miles more evolved, and less consumed with the shallow crap, we Americans tend to be consumed with. (I guess I'm speaking more about the Two Fat Ladies Cooking Show on Food Network than this book.)
Here are two hefty and darling women, cooking and meandering through England, making hearty, stick-to-your ribs dishes. Yum. Okay, I have to draw the line at the Penis stew, but for the most part, wonderful recipes to inspire any chef.
Inspirational recipes.......2000-02-08
When my beloved and I want to cook something special -- one of our favorite hobbies -- we check out the Two Fat Ladies' cookbooks. (I recommend their previous two books, too). I love the stories and explanations that preceed the recipes -- they add depth and luster. I can't read the book for very long without feeling hungry. Their recipes are forgiving, leaving plenty of room for adaptation if you can't find an ingredient indiginous to England. Don't miss watching their series on the Food Network.
I will *dearly miss Jennifer Patterson, though..........1999-08-19
If you've come this far with Jennifer and Clarissa, this is truly "full throttle", and you won't be disappointed! You can, literally, *hear*, both of their voices when you read Clarissa's comments at the start of each chapter and both of them commenting about the receipts they've compiled for this book, which is just entirely wonderful! I happen to listen to anyone who sings the praises of animal fat, butter and the like with my my own good sense telling me, "No! It's not good for you!" And then, my French-based culinary training kicks in and says, "So what? You don't eat like this everyday, so *enjoy*!" This is why I love "The Ladies" books. If, twice a year, I can make a true Alsatian choucroute and please everyone, I'm sure I can also pull a recipe out of a "Ladies" book and remind everyone what home cooking is all about.
The fun continues..........1999-06-30
If you liked the previous two Fat Lady books, this one continues with the same wacky charm and outrageously rich recipes. "Full Throttle" is aptly named, for it definitely describes their style, both in & out of the kitchen.

Cooking with the Two Fat Ladies is a delectable, calorie-filled breath of fresh air from the usual low-fat cookbooks. The dynamic duo of Clarissa Dickson Wright and Jennifer Paterson roars across the U.K. on their Triumph 950 motorbike, gathering fine recipe ideas from villages and towns all over the idyllic British countryside. Based on a popular BBC cookery program of the same name, the book bursts with the unbeatable flavors of heavy cream, real butter, and full-fat cheeses. The book is divided into five important food groups: fish, meat, cakes, fruit, and game. Tempting color photographs of the Fat Ladies' recipes titillate the taste buds. Irresistible is Jennifer's Adult Chocolate Cake; the combination of ingredients--bittersweet chocolate, sugar, butter, and eggs--form a divine creation certain to elicit groans of ecstasy from all who sample it.
The featured recipes are rich in flavor and texture. How about Ham with Leeks and Cream Sauce to warm up a rainy afternoon? Or Yorkshire Gingerbread, a stunningly beautiful dessert heaped with cream. Some of the recipes are not for the faint of heart (or vegetarians); Rabbit with Anchovies and Capers, and Pigeon Breast with Honey and Ginger may not be everyone's cup of tea. Cooking with the Two Fat Ladies is quite an event--a culinary trek into the land of politically incorrect butter and chocolate, laced with a dash of quintessential British humor.

A recipe from Cooking with the Two Fat Ladies
SCONES
Makes about 12
Fresh scones, still warm from the oven, are part and parcel of the delicious teas of our childhoods. No one seems to make them nowadays; instead, they buy terrible things in supermarkets tasting of soda and studded with soggy fruits. Scones take but a moment, so do try them.
1 2/3 cups self rising flour
small pinch of salt
4 tablespoons butter
2/3 cup milk, fresh or buttermilk.
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. Mix the flour and salt in a large bowl. Rub in the butter with your fingertips until it all resembles crumbs. Mix in the milk. Form into a soft dough with a metal spatula. Knead lightly on a floured board, then pat out into a round 3/4 inch thick. Cut into 2-inch rounds with a cutter.
Place the rounds on a greased and floured baking sheet and brush with milk. Bake for 10 minutes until well risen and brown. Cool on a rack, but eat when still warm, with lots of butter, clotted cream, and jam. Yummo.
Variations:
Fruit scones: Add 1/3 cup dried fruit and 2 tablespoons superfine sugar.
Savory scones: Add 3/4 cup grated hard cheese and 1 teaspoon dry mustard, or 1/3 cup minced olives, anchovies, or what you fancy.

More for reading than for cooking from.......2004-02-26
A fun read, but the recipes aren't reliable. I've used this book for an enjoyable read, and to come up with ideas for things to cook, but I don't cook from it any more -- most of the dishes I have tried either were not particularly good or they didn't come out right at all.
Must have this.......2004-02-21
This is a must have for any collection, even if you don't ever cook out of it. It's a shame it is out of print.
Tasty Recipes That Actually Turn Out Right........2000-06-13
I actually taught myself to cook using this book. I had never been much of a cook before I discovered the Two Fat Ladies television program, but was so intrigued that I ordered their cookbook after seeing only a few episodes. The recipes it contains offer genuine flavor and not the tasteless slimmed-down "light" cuisine I find almost inedible. The desserts are particularly good, and I have successfully made the Adult Chocolate Cake, the Danish Apple and Prune Cake, and the Galette Des Trois Roix. Unlike other cookbooks I have tried, these recipes actually worked. Moreover, the ladies' overall cooking philosophy comes through in the book, emphasizing organic ingredients and better quality meats over bland supermarket-stocked products. You'll also benefit from the interesting food history cited throughout that comes from Clarissa Dicksen-Wright's vast knowledge of earlier cooking techniques, and the tremendous good humor of the memorable and beloved Jennifer Paterson. I highly recommend the book, together with the sequals from the follow on series.
A True Masterpiece in Abstract Cooking.......2000-05-23
The Two Fat Ladies have compiled some of their best recipes to form this cookbook. Some of the dishes have odd names, but are usually good eating. Anyone looking for an interesting dish to try, will need to own this book. A true combination of wit and good food.
These Ladies Are A Trip!.......2000-05-18
I have no idea who could really eat any of the receipes, (you'd have to have the EMS standing next to you) but, BOY are they fun to read. You've never seen anything like them. The ingredients they use, the meals they make, the language they use, it's unbelievable. I've learned so much from them. About different types of food, styles, history and uses. It's a fun and entertaining book. I say, GOOD LUCK to you if you really use it as a manual. I'll pray for you! :)

Streets are shaking and buildings are trembling! This can mean only one thing: the two fat ladies, those disciples of all foods good and forbidden, have returned! No thin stomach is safe from the pleasures of Jennifer Paterson and Clarissa Dickson Wright's 130 titillating new recipes. Even the names ooze joy, wonderment, and yearning--Mrs. Anne Bearley's Rhubarb Whim Wham and Fried Eggs on Puffball Mushrooms, to name but two of these delectable dishes. As in the style of the fat ladies' previous (and wondrous) creation, Cooking with the Two Fat Ladies, witty anecdotes and a uniquely British brand of humor make The Two Fat Ladies Ride Again much more than just a list of recipes. When speaking of pudding (that's dessert to any nonroyal subject), Clarissa writes, "A pudding should be unequivocally a pudding ... at your next dinner party, try serving two puddings, one in my style with cream and meringue and delicious things, and one soi-disant healthy variety, and see which you are left with to carry back to the kitchen." How right she is--foods ooze with richness and high taste. Rigo Jancis Chocolate Slices require not only bittersweet chocolate, but also cocoa powder, eggs, sugar, and heavy, stiffly whipped cream. There are no low-fat yogurt substitutes here!
Recipes are neatly and simply categorized as appetizers, main dishes, puddings, and picnic foods--divinely illustrated with full-color photographs. Also included are chapters on the three best times of the day--breakfast time, teatime, and cocktail hour! Meat, game, and fish feature heavily--Beef with Chestnuts, Pears, and Almonds is a particularly succulent Catalonian dish, combining a tasty, tangy fresh sauce to accompany roast beef or steak. These beautiful creations do require a degree of cooking experience, and cannot be whipped up in the microwave. But the rewards are high--delicious, pleasing foods that will nurture the soul. --Naomi Gesinger

Two Fat Ladies Ride Again.......2004-08-20
Being a true fan of Clarissa Dickson Wright and the late Jennifer Paterson's TV Series, I was delighted to discover their book, Two Fat Ladies Ride Again. I do hope the series is available on DVD. The recipes are always unusual, well written and I'm sure, judging from the TV series, absolutely delicious. The book is worth reading for the anecdotes alone. I can't wait to acquire other books in the series or written by either of the two women.
This cookbook is the most fun of any I've come across!.......1999-01-01
This cookbook is wonderful! A joy to read, even if not cooking or looking up a recipe. A few of the items are a tad difficult to come by in my part of the world (Pickled Walnuts & Gentlemens Relish for example), but most of them are accessable, and I've made many of these recipes with great success. I highly recommend "Devils on Horseback" which gave me quite a reputation at work. Thanks Jennifer & Clarissa!
forget dieting.......1998-09-04

A Triumph Thunderbird.......2003-12-14
Obviously whoever wrote the Editorial Synopsis above knows nothing at all about motorcycles!
Two Fat Ladies helped popularise the modern Hinckley Triumph Thunderbird which is paired with a British-made Watsonian side car. It certainly isn't an Indian-made apology for a Royal Enfield!!
Book Description
You know them from their eponymous hit television series and their three previous cookbooks:
Cooking with the Two Fat Ladies,
The Two Fat Ladies Ride Again, and
The Two Fat Ladies Full Throttle. Restoring passion to cooking and outspoken humor to the world of food, Clarissa Dickson Wright and Jennifer Paterson have brought joy to millions of fans.
In Two Fat Ladies Obsessions, they turned their attention to what turns them on, taking an in-depth look at thirty-four of their favorite ingredients, ranging from Oysters, Chicken, Chilies, Lamb, and Olives to Raspberries, Chocolate, Peaches, Salt, Butter, and Coffee. More than 150 recipes -- all written in true Fat Lady style -- reveal not only the history of these foods, but also why they are so near and dear to their hearts.
Jennifer's fondness for Lobster Puffs, Maine Style, stemmed from the time she spent cooking on a boat off the coast of New England, while her Orecchiette with Broccoli Rabe was a favorite from a childhood stint in Sicily. Clarissa's first food memory, at age 3 ½, of eating a cold sausage and a hard-boiled egg, leads to a wonderful recipe for Simple Sausage Ragu, and her years spent working on a pheasant farm provide a variety of ways to prepare the bird, including delectable Georgian Pheasant. Other recipes, such as T-Bone Steak à la Castle Floors, Ceviche of Salmon, Duke of Hamilton's Fig Ice Cream, Walnut Pancakes, and Raspberry and Chocolate Millefeuilles, offer a new twist on foods we all love.
Uniquely personal and highly entertaining,
Two Fat Ladies Obsessions will delight old and new fans alike and serves as a fittingly robust tribute to the memory of Jennifer Paterson.

Two Fat Ladies Obsessions.......2003-07-30
Many of the same recipes are in "cooking with Two Fat Ladies". Interesting to read, but I don't think many Americans would actually prepare any of the recipes. I love the videos, the cookbooks don't have the same charm.
It's Two Fat Ladies, love 'em or not.......2003-02-16
Some exotic ingredients: Bull penis for one, some questionable hygenic practices, can the Brits get away with them because their climate is cooler? and I've heard that the recipes don't always come out right because the Two Fat ladies didn't measure and the editor guesstimates, but don't know if that's true. I haven't tried any of the recipes and they are heavy on fish recipes but there are many that sound terrific and I'd like to try.
An Enjoyable Read With Great Recipes.......2000-12-20
To be honest, I bought this book primarily for the Fat Ladies' trademark wit and humor. In this respect, I was not disappointed, as the brief narratives preceeding each chapter and most recipes make for truly entertaining reading. many of the actual recipes intimidated me at first, but when I decided to try one of them out, I was absolutely thrilled. The cod with lemon sauce (located in the book's "Lemon" section) is one of the best recipes I've ever gleaned from a cookbook...it was a tremendous success. If you're a fan of the show, or just a fan of good, honest food, give this book a try.
Two Fat Ladies Strike Again!.......2000-04-06
The Two Fat Ladies have released another fine cookbook to their saucy collection. I enjoy cooking elaborate or unusual meals for my wife, and I can attest that the recipies I have tried are a success! I can also assure you that even if you aren't a gourmet cook, you can master these recipies.
Warning: These recipies are NOT for the diet-conscious, but for the connisseur of good, hearty food with no-holds-barred cholesterol level! These contributions by the hilarious Clarissa and the late Jennifer are tailored for consumers who enjoy food for its taste and enjoy fully what life- and dinner- has to offer.
If you are a fan of the show (and even if you are not), I highly recommend this book. Within its pages are thirty-four chapters, each focusing on a favorite "Fat Lady Staple", such as lobster, chocolate, and butter. The chapters also contain little anecdotes from the humorous Ladies, guaranteed to make you smile. Within each chapter are several sumptuous recipies to frighten the bathroom scale. As Clarissa, one of the Fat Ladies, notes in the introduction- "Anyone who has watched the program... will know that one of the things that binds us is an unswerving passion for good food- no compromises, no second best." And the recipes that follow certainly adhere to this credo.
Many delightful European recipies can be found, with common ingredients and the unusual for special occasions. If you want to impress with the best, try these! Some examples of the delights that can be found are the delicious Roast Chicken with Herbed Salt, Chili Crab, Pheasant with Mostardadi Cremona (pheasant with bacon, white wine, butter, etc.), Portuguese Fish Stew, Chocolate Marshmallow Ice Cream, and the easy Spaghetti with Sour Cream. I only wish the Ladies had included more than a few recipes for each chapter.
Please note that for some of these recipies, some unusual ingredients may be required. You will need to find a good source for some of the spices or meats, but when you taste the results, you will be glad for the trouble exerted. (My wife sure was!)
