Book Description
On Easter Sunday, multimillionaire Dale Ewell, his wife, and 24-year-old daughter were gunned down one by one as they returned home from their beach house. The stone-cold killer waited on a sheet of plastic to avoid leaving clues and calmly retrieved all the bullet casings before leaving the house of blood. The Ewells' tony Fresno community was shocked by the grisly murder of the socially prominent family. Only the son, handsome 21 year-old Dana, seemed strangely unaffected except for his outrage at not receiving his slaughtered family's entire multimillion-dollar fortune immediately.Although the father Dale Ewell, was a ruthless businessman with a score of enemies, Detective John Souza immediately suspected the spoiled son with the new airplane and the Armani suits. But the brilliant college student sneered at the veteran investiagtor's efforts and appeared to have an airtight alibi. But Souza knew there has to be a hole and when he found it he would bring a cold-blooded killer to justice.

Greed.......2004-03-28
Not well-written but entertaining enough. Good for a time when you want a quick read. Author has a tendency to ramble at some spots. There are so many better books in this genre that I would probably recommend passing on this one.
Read Hanadel's book instead.......2003-09-17
I read both of the books on the Ewell murders, and this one the poorer by a long shot. It is full of errors and typos, and it indulges in hyperbole about how Dana Ewell's entire generation lacks morals and the such. In short, it's very poorly written. Hanadel's books covers all the same material and a lot more in a far clearer exposition.
Interesting, but flawed.......2002-11-13
This book provides an interesting look into the investigation of an unthinkable crime, but it also has mistakes. Some can be attributed to typographical errors, but editing should have picked these up. One discrepancy in particular should have sent alarm bells off in any reader that the manuscript needed more attention because this error has no logical explanation. After finishing this book, I looked up the result of the case--a verdict was reached about six months after its publication--to see if the rush to publish had also colored the facts. It seems that the major mistake was in not taking enough time to ensure quality writing throughout.
Interesting.........2001-08-14
I read this book a few years ago while on vacation. It gripped my attention, because like the adage once said,"Money is the root of all evil." No kidding! The story of a young man named Dana, so obsessed with his family's fortune, that he was willing to "get rid of" them to inherit the fortune. If that was not bad enough, attempted to make the murder look like a robbery-gone-bad. {Bad Idea: Plenty of valuables were left behind: Guns, jewelry, etc.} Assuming that he would get away with the "perfect crime", he soon disovers that it backfires. Not only do the police suspect him, but they are hot on his trail. They have his pager, and cellular phone "cloned" as well as the local payphone that was used "tapped." {In order to make himself look as though he had nothing to do with the crime, he kept a receipt for a card and some candy that he had bought from a grocery store that he paid with his Amex card. I guess he was trying to form a paper trail.} One detective was immediately suspicious: Who keeps receipts for a $2.00+ some purchase? Overall, an interesting read.
Common problem in America - parents spoiling kids.......1999-09-20
The author describes the two suspects well. He details their relationship and activities following the murders. A second book by Smith should follow. Didn't anyone see Joel's vehicle parked around the block, the day of the murders? We need to know the final judicial outcome. Also, I would like to know how this has affected the girlfriends of Dana and Joel. Did Dana or Joel ever learn what remorse is?
Smith describes Dana as being overindulged with a Mercedes, etc. Since his mother had a "career", she supplied Dana with all kinds of money. It obviously was the wrong kind of attention any child needs. Although, Dana Ewell made the ultimate "choice" to do wrong.

Seeds of Evil has become one of my all time favorite books.......2002-03-03
Seeds of Evil by Karl Schweizer is so good! The story is based on a true event--a murder--that took place in Queens, New York during the 1920's. If you like true crime and police investigation, or you like a story that takes place during the roaring twenties complete with bootleg gin and flappers, or you like a story that is a study of people and their thoughts and motives, or if you like a juicy read that is full of description and attention to detail, then this book is for you! The author writes in such a way that you feel like you have stepped into the very skin of each character. You the reader are privy to the character's innermost thoughts, feelings and reflections. Because of this you can't help but like or loathe each character--you cannot remain indifferent. The story is written so seamlessly that the reader cannot be sure of what is factual or what is supposed and this makes for an entertaining and thought-provoking read. Since this is a book based on true events, there must be an ending to the story but I loved this book so much that I found myself wishing that it wouldn't end. Lastly, the author challenges the reader, especially in the postscript, to examine his or her own life in view of the story they just finished reading and to think about the presence and influence of evil in one's own life. It gives one food for thought. I highly recommend Seeds of Evil. You will be in for a treat and it is the kind of book that will keep you thinking and reflecting for a long time.
Wages of Sin.......2002-03-01
AS grippingly as any novelist, noted historian Karl Schweizer,a superbly talented writer,,tells the dramatic story of a 1920"s cause celebre:the brutal slaying of Motor Boating editor Albert Snyder by his wife Ruth and her lover Judd Gray.In an elegant though informal narrative, that ranges from humorous to heart-wrenching,Seeds of Evil ,explores the complex motivations behind the tragic crime, the character nuances of the protagonists, the conflicts and contradictions they experienced in their emotional relationships, and above all the precious and timeless spiritual lessons to be learned from these participants in what is essentially a modern morality play.In this sense the book is not only an exciting tale of crime and retribution but a guide to spiritual enlightenment--one that discards the sadly fashionable contemporary focus on "now" and "self" ,as a key to contentment but instead directs our attention to God as the only true ,lasting and enriching guide to our lifes.A unique achievement that could serve as a model to other writers in the true crime genre.

The deadly Web........2002-02-26
Seeds of Evil is a brilliantly written and soundly researched period piece centered around the murder in 1927 of Albert Snyder ,art Editor for MOtor Boating by his wife Ruth and her corset salesman lover ,Judd Gray.Combining true facts with imaginary dialogue ,the book vividly captures the dark compulsions that drove two ordinary people to deception, adultery and murder. As such it is a psychologically gripping analysis of those dark forces lurking within all of us --those forces springing from psychic depths that defy rational penetration and definition. But where the work makes its greatest contribution is in providing a spiritual dimension which gives the tale a sense of universality;in stressing and illustrating the importance of faith and divine grace to control our human propensity for sin,the author provides a timely message and compelling evidence for mankinds daily need to seek and heed the counsel of God.An important work of literary artistry, insight and reflection that through its dramatic theme and appeal makes the Lord's message accessible and relevant to all.

Turok's back for more lizard-stomping action in Acclaim's new first-person action game. The BradyGames' guide to the game--which should help players regardless of the platform they prefer--covers every aspect of gameplay and guides players through to the ultimate goal of destroying the seeds of evil. Beginning with a detailed description of each type of creature you can expect to face in the game and the weapons you'll (hopefully) discover along the way, the book goes on to provide a complete walkthrough for each of the game's six levels (along with the many areas that comprise each level). In addition, you'll find an illustrated breakdown of the final boss conflict and the Primagen Key quest. Throughout the book, easy-to-read maps will help you find your way through the levels, while the color screen shots help illustrate key points and strategies.

Where are the humens?.......2002-01-25
When this game came out i was so happy i thought it was going to be just like the the first turok, But there was one problem..... NO HUMENS!!!!!!!!!!!! I mean come on the first turok was the best for the men that would run around and shoot pistols at you and every thing, and plus the big t-rex that you fight that is so great!!!!!!! The bosses in the second turok are ... as ...!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just like the second turok for it's blood and gore.
Turok U rock!.......2000-11-05
This guide is all you need to beat the game with. It has a very detailed walkthrough that is with you every step of the way! You will not get lost in the massive worlds of Turok 2 with this guide. BradyGames always has the best guides. Those other guides just look pretty, but when it comes down to it, who cares what it looks like. I just want something I can follow.

The truth will set you FREE.......2005-09-17
Often we encounter new insights that some if not most people will resist immediately. This may happen with this book because of the relationships being made between what is often refered to as objective biological science and subjective religion. However, insight, especially divine insight, is often a result of finding a relationship between two concepts that seem completely unrelated, and yet in this books case, you will find are vastly related and perhaps a holy grail. Like it or not, open your mind and heart and when Brian's inspired understanding settles in your heart, it's truth will set you free.
Interesting (and Controversial).......2005-09-08
The Seed is definitely a book that will make you ponder deeply about the interpretation of the Christian Bible (the Qa'ran, the Torah and every religious bible considered holy today). Salvation and what you consider to be "the truth" will be challenged immensely.
For those who tend to question everything spiritual in life (and the afterlife), The Seed offers a fresh perspective regarding salvation and one's destiny. You'll either agree with the message of The Seed or you won't, but you're not likely to put it down before you've finished it.
And trust me, after reading it you'll want to share a few words with Brian Fox, the author! He's either blessed by God with spiritual insight or he's crazy as a fox! I'm not sure but I am going to read it again with a Bible next to me so that I can verify everything he cites. After all, how else can I judge his reasoning! Wait, judging is bad, right!? Either way, good book! Would recommend.
God given and inspirated by the Holyghost ........2005-08-25
The book was very powerful, and I related to the revelation by which Brian Fox was given by the Holy spirit. The Seed has uplifted my understanding of mankind in another way.Genetics play a big part in a persons future, good or bad.And the Holy Bible concured w/ The Seed scripturedly, mind blowing.
The Seed.......2005-08-24
This book is both brilliant and challenging. Author uses common language to explain complex and profound biblical concepts. I never read a book that combines biblical truth with human reproduction. He writes it in a way that common man can understand it. The book draws you in and keeps you intellectually stimulated.

If you want to beat the game easily get this one........1999-12-31
This guide was overall pretty good. The maps were good and the screen shots were decent. Some insight on how to get out of tough spots could be added, but it is just right if all you want to do is beat the game, not master it.
Dallas Middaugh should never be allowed behind a keyboard..........1999-06-22
...EVER again. This guide was terrible. It read like it was a "cut-and-paste" rush job. It didn't do anything it was supposed to do, like actually help you play through the game. However, for those of you who prefer empty style over substantive content, this title is a lovely marketing piece (in other words, it's not a strategy guide, it's a profit-turning tie-in).

TUROK IS AWSEOME.......2000-05-17
Turok is a great book for people who like adventure and actionbook once you start readin you cant stop. but some parts are bloodythough. I recomend this book for 8-10 year olds i also like that there is a bunch of books in the serries.
A great book for Turok fans.......1999-07-14
Ok, I read one and two. One I would say is alittle better than two. But, two is still good. The book goes in depth, and we get to get a closer look at Turok. The book is EXTREMLY easy to follow. Not, that I am saying it is simplist, I am sixteen and enjoyed it. It is a fun and easy to follow book series. It had just about all of the villians from the game in it. But, the raptor ( my fav ) was only in one and two, only twice, and it did not even describe them very much. But, all in all, an ok book, you will enjoy the book much more after you have betten the game. What was weird was when I got bored I actually sat down and read the book, instead of sitting down and blowing my brains out!(and blowing some brains out, if you know what I mean) So, if you love Turok, and come on, 3 bucks! That is the cheapest I have ever seen a book. The book is best described as a big, 3 dollar comic book.

Gaia vs the Human Race, who will survive?.......2002-09-03
A frantic phone call from close friends, puts Carlin Thornton-Kramer on the first step to an adventure of a lifetime. Two strange statues have been discovered at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, one three foot tall, the other a smaller replica. The statues exert strange influences over all who come into contact with them, including Carlin. Already showing signs of psychic ability, her powers increase when anywhere near the statue.
But what is it? Where is it from and how did it get here? For the place where the statue is discovered, predates human occupation of that section of land. Carlin starts getting disturbing visions, war, terror and bloodshed, visions that seem to be of the future. But how can it be stopped?
It seems that the cosmos is home to a psychic vampire, who feeds on negative energy from humans and lately, there has been a lot of it about, and things are going to get much worse:
For Gaia, Mother Earth herself, wants to wipe out the human race...
This is a sweeping adventure of a book, taking the reader on a fantastic journey from the US, India, Africa and the cosmos itself. The descriptions are breathtaking with a wealth of well drawn characters, feisty heroines, murderous villains, all entwined in a story of adventure and romance.
It deals with a lot of things, reincarnation, predestiny, psychic abilities, but all flow well within the central storyline. My only complaint is that sometimes the dialogue comes across as a bit stilted and unrealistic and anytime the British characters spoke, it was like a cliche. Things like, "My good man," and "Old chap."
Living in England, I have yet to hear anyone actually say that!
It's an epic tale, so make sure to leave some time to savour it.
A good read.

Evil Seed: A Retrospective.......2002-04-25
Author McGovern-Bowen speaks to us in many dimensions...from the heart and from excitement of adventure, brought about by a well-written, cliff-hanging story, keeping us on the edge of our seats and a much deeper level of "purpose".
The multi-dimension of the author speaks to the many levels of interest and entertainment I thoroughly relate to and enjoy.
I read all the way up to the last 16 pages and put it down for a week and a half...the thought of this adventure and "feel good", meaning-of-life book ending was so disappointing to me...finally, I read the last pages and with regret, it's over; hopefully, not for long.
But, is it over? No, it's the beginning for many and the affirmation for others, like myself, who never tire of hearing the "story"...the "meaning of life" ...our "reawkening" ...our "mission".
McGovern-Bowen offers the wonderful blend of deep meaning and purpose with excitement and adventure. The first time I visited the Vatican, being the recovering Catholic that I am, I was overwhelmed with it all...I went into overload...I was imposing art over the deep religious experience...I then began to appreciate the experience on both levels and when I did I felt I received the absoulte "most" of what was the message. McGovern-Bowen gave me truly a similiar juxtaposition.
Oh, in the prologue I wondered if the...words and vocabulary would ever end and make a point...but, it didn't take long for it to have meaning.
One can't help but wonder if this advanced soul (meaning the author) was but "guided" throughout the book...the depth, the purity of thought, word and deed as it relates to the meaning of life..."love"... runs through so loud and clear.
Regardless, the blend of entertainment and reality (as I see reality) is perfect...well-balanced. A message was clearly delivered here...for one to miss it is a shame and yet, how could one fail to miss the message..."right human relations" and "love" is... all there is, according to my beliefs and echoed by some dear friends of mine.
And, speaking of these dear friends...they (The Pleadians) wish to humbly offer to C.G. McGovern-Bowen their offer to collaborate with her in the continum of "the message"...yes, another book.
I wish to express my gratitude to the author for this book and her convictions and "guts" to deliver her message...it's provided meaning and purpose for us all.
Dick

Evil Seed
A New Novel By:
C.G.McGovern-Bowen
Wow! What a roller coaster ride this book takes you on! This one has it all: action, suspense, adventure and romance, in one intelligent, engaging story. It is the equivalent to an "E ticket" ride at Disneyland. Turn off the television and unplug the phone, you will not want to be interrupted. I could not wait to see what would happen on the next page. And I warn you not to skip any pages or paragraphs, you might miss the action-yes, it happens that quickly!
This eclectic group of friends and otherworldly allies sets out to help save Mother Earth and humanity during a whirlwind global journey that begins in North Rim, Grand Canyon and ends in East Africa's "Mountains of the Moon." Make friends with Carlin, Aife, and Boadicea. Meet the love of two lifetimes in Rama-every woman's dream come true. Stare into the face of evil in Rypan, the psychic vampire from the cosmos bent on devouring humanity and destroying the planet, he will make your skin crawl. Listen to and learn from the wise ones who gather to aid Carlin and company, in their fast paced quest to save humanity. Is there a sequel in the works?

Evil seed: a must-read sci-fi adventure.......2002-01-13
This exciting sci-fi adventure is premised on the notion that the accumulation of negative energy generated by self-serving human endeavors, eventusally prompts Gaia, the earth personified as a goddess, to finally act. She seeks to destroy the human infestation on earth in order to save herself. Through Carlin, a major character in Evil Seed, her close friends and other spiritual supporters, Gaia wages a surreal battle with the Evil One, Rypan, a psychic vampire who feeds on human-generated negative energy. This epic struggle is replete with ritual cleansing ceremonies, and telepathic visualizations that grip the reader in an exciting journey, while infusing in the reader a spirit of awe and need for action to change the course of human destruction. This fantastic tale is required reading for those who care about the planet.

Cereal is not Just for Breakfast Anymore!.......2006-06-01
Who knew that you could make a souffle' with Cheez-Its? How about doughnuts with Rice Krispies? Did it ever occur to you to make a potato casserole with Special K? Well, thank goodness for Kellogg's! Not only have they helped with breakfast since 1894, but they have helped shape many of our "staple" recipes in America.
Included in this book are some of the classics including the All Bran Muffins, Rice Krispie Treats, Chocolate Scotcheroos, Crispix Mix, and Crispix Mix Sweet Minglers. Also included are recipes that most of us have never thought of including: Rustic Rhubarb with Vanilla Almond Tart, Lemon Cake, Stuffed Potatoes, Veal Cordon Bleu, Chicken Vegetable Crepes, and Crisp Orange Baked Chicken.
If you are looking for some new recipes with ingredients that you easily have on hand, give this book a try. The book includes many full color photographs, and nutrient information at the end of the book. Enjoy!
Over 200 recipes culled from company archives.......2006-05-25
That THE KELLOGG'S COOKBOOK appears this year is no accident but by design; for 2006 marks the 100th anniversary of the Kellogg Company, and to celebrate here are over 200 recipes culled from company archives. Yes, dishes all rely on a Kellogg product for its main ingredient - so here you'll find Rice Krispies Treats, All-Bran Muffins, and other past favorites such as a Summer Squash and Chilies Bake which uses Rice Krispies for its topping, Chicken Italienne using Kellogg's Corn Flakes, and even a Salmon and Lemon Pate using Special K. The equal display of savory and sweet dishes proves Kellogg has more on its mind than dessert, while the inclusion of contemporary and vintage photos makes for an appealing, attractive presentation.
