Customer Reviews:
Taking on the liberal justice system! .......2007-09-16
Nancy Grace takes on our liberal, soft on crime, pro criminal, anti victim justice system and she takes them on hard and she is holding nothing back! If you are a Nancy Grace fan you will love this book! Nancy Grace at her BEST!
OUR CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM IS FOR SALE.......2007-07-27
This is one amazing woman. The story about how she became a lawyer is nothing short of awe inspiring. And the stories in the court room will make you cringe and maybe even cry. And then there's the stories of the high profile celebrities who walked after they murdered. Very disconcerting and nauseous.
Disappointing........2007-04-14
Pandering.
Easy read though. As she implicitly acknowledges in every chapter of this book, she's a prime example of what she's criticizing.
She also appears to be intellectually dishonest and does not respect the legal system. Her tirades (and "tirades" is fairly accurate) against high priced defense attorneys (easy target, everybody hates them, right? me too) are quite simplistic for what I'd expect from a former prosecutor.
I can't believe that a person who comes across as a fairly average thinker, and a zealot, somehow managed to achieve a 100% conviction rate, without bending the rules a LOT.
Still, not a bad read. Burned through it very fast.
I would have given it 2 stars, until I found out there were sections in the book plagiarized. An former officer of the court who steals intellectual property, that deserves a ZERO.
Media and money can win you a case........2007-02-14
Nancy Grace host of her own show on CNN, a legal commentator on Court TV and a former prosecutor who never loss a case criticizes the criminal justice system including defense attorneys, judges, and juries. She also comments on controversial cases like Michael Jackson, Kobe Bryant, and Scout Peterson among others. She also suggests ways to reform the legal process to help victims of crime rather then criminals. Her book is factual and you can tell she has a zeal for justice. And I agree with almost everything she says in this book, especially that criminals should not profit from their convictions.
She's Nuts!.......2007-02-02
It is impossible to read this pitifully bad book without also conjuring up the image of Nancy Grace on CNN. She appears nightly with her face invariably twisted and contorted in rage and disgust, while bullying the weak and hapless and hopeless. It is beyond bizarre that CNN allows this embarrassing, demented freak to continue to appear on its programming. Nancy Grace may be the meanest and most cynical person appearing on television. And she's crazy.

Slow Start, But Worth It!.......2007-05-18
Like other reviewers, I think this is a great story. There are multiple levels to the plot--a murder mystery, a run at a basketball championship, a school project mirroring real life, a friendship tested. Even with all these elements working together, the story isn't convoluted. The start of the story, though, does drag a bit, especially compared to the fast pace of the rest of the novel. Overall a great read, though--another great one by this author!--and one that boys and girls alike would enjoy.
This Author Deserves More Recognition.......2006-04-20
I read this book based on a student recommendation. What a welcome surprise. This author deserves much more recognition for her talent. I look at and read Young Adult books all the time, but I knew nothing of this book.
The Perfect Shot is a wonderful look at teen life and the struggles human beings go through when dealing with a loss. This book is also an experienced look at the struggles young adults go through when trying to figure out what their place is in this world.
The book does all of the above and accelerates the plot with a suspenseful ending that will leave the reader wanting to read whatever this author produces.
This book is a gem of a Young Adult book. This is a definite must-read.
I am now going to backtrack and read this author's other books, one of which is an Edgar Award winner.
THE BEST BOOK EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2006-03-14
I loved this book so much! I dont see how anyone couldn't. i read it for fun and it turned out to teach me a lot about love and about law. I can understand things more clearly by relating experiences to experiences of the characters. their lives are magnificently changing and understandable. i would reccomend this book to people who love teen murder mysteries and amazing pieces of writing that touch your heart. this book made me feel, it made me cry, it made me laugh. this book is about life and understanding the situation. the characters' struggles are real and exciting. this book is amazing.
I couldnt put this book down, but at some parts i had to, this story is very intense and that made it all the more lovely.
the murder of one boy's girlfriend turns into a path to life discovery, a path that leads to the meaning of everything. read this book and follow young Brian, go down the path with him. you will discover too.

This a great book to learn about the Social Justice of the Catholic faith. It is well written.
Book Description

JUSTICE LEAGUE of AMERICA
Mysterious events in the Bermuda Triangle propel Wonder Woman on a desperate search for the truth behind the disappearance of a diver near Themyscira, home of the legendary Amazons. But her discovery of a mirror island -- one populated entirely by men -- sets events in motion that ultimately cause the Justice League to come into conflict with a figure from Wonder Woman's own mythological past. But is she powerful enough to save them?
Customer Reviews:
Super Reader.......2007-08-27
Although a Wonder Woman story, there are parts to play for others in the JLA, Flash, Green Lantern, Superman, et. al. WW finds an island of reverse Amazons, so to speak, and other oddities in the course of this adventure.
If the Bermuda Triangle is in a story, it is also pretty much a given that there will be some sort of mystery.
Wonder Woman vs. brainwashed men.......2005-12-31
In this installment of the Justice League of America novels, the focus is on Wonder Woman, or Princess of the Amazon Diana, who is investigates the disapperence of a diver near her island home of Themyscira (an island populated by women who worship the Olympian Gods). She finally finds Henry, but also finds a lost island that is a male mirror of Themscira, where thousands of men worship Ares, the Greek god of war. She figures out that an orb from space is actually behind a plot to enslave the world, especially the women.
This seems like a novel only a woman can write. I know I sound misogynic, but look at the theme here. The idea of the whole book is that this malevolent orb can more easily change men into violent chauvinist, though stupid and completly void of self motivation. Even the powerful god Ares was not immune. And women (especially Wonder Woamn and Ana, Henry's wife) are the only ones who can counter act the effects with talking of love and compassion, with a lot of hippy 'flower power' talk. The idea is kind of valid, but to make men so easily suspetable to the evil is kind of insulting.
The other problem I had with this book is the lack of charactorization of Wonder Woman. I found her to be cold and distant, even if she was always huging and kissing the other team members. I really wanted to know what made her tick, but never really got to know.
The saving grace of the book was it's action. Toward the end there wer exiting nonstop fights and chases. Also the inclusion of Batman's Oracle was a nice touch.
Good, but not as well rounded as I had hoped.
Bad fan fiction.......2005-12-22
There's a term that I can't remember because I don't really follow it for a subset of bad Star Trek fan-fiction where the author adds a character we've never seen before who is obviously a thinly veiled, idealized version of the author herself who ends up saving the Enterprise, the galaxy and reality and winning the hearts of Kirk and Spock.
Do I need to explain more? (If so, I'll give you a hint. The woman in this book who saves the lives of those helpless weaklings Wonder Woman, Superman, Batman, Green Lantern and the Flash is a diver who lives in LA with her husband and the author's bio says she lives in LA with her husband and dive buddy.)
As others have pointed out, the previously existing JLA members are wildly out of character and incompetent. The "villain" of the piece, a red orb that makes people fight, (speaking of Star Trek...) is a bland cliche and the dialogue, especially the "funny" lines delivered by the author's wish fulfillment analogue and her "All You Need is Love" sections are embarassing and wince-inducing.
Comic book fans are completists so they'll need to buy this but don't add insult to injury by reading this godawful tripe.
Good use of characters.......2005-06-17
3.5 stars
Though still not a stellar work, this follow up to the poor Batman:The Stone King manages to be a fairly adept piece of escapist reading with the tension handled well to keep the reader's interest.
Primarily focusing on Wonder Woman, we do get to see more of the rest of the JLA than in the Stone King. When they are out of the action to allow Wonder Woman to take center stage it is handled relatively well and isn't too unbelievable. The other JLA members are able to contribute without overwhelming Wonder Woman's importance
One of the strengths of the book is the use of the normal woman. Secondary characters can make or break these books. As there really isn't going to be any earth shaking revelations about the JLA or massive character growth the handling of secondary characters is where the author gets a chance to portray such events. In this case, the minor character is handled very well to drive the plot forward, provoke interest and caring from the reader and provide some good humor.
There are some weak and/or slow moments, particularly the time Wonder Woman spends on her home island. Once we reach one third of the way in though, the pace picks up and drives forward without being relentless.
The flaws do not overshadow the strengths, nor do they prevent it from being an enjoyable read. Not a great read, but a fun read, and quite superior to The Stone King.
Great Read.......2005-06-14
This is the first book that I have read of the series and of the author. I have to say it was a great read. Nothing overally exciting, but it was smooth, took a little over a day to take in. The writing style was very nice, and the idealisms of the characters converted very nicely into book print. Although I was a little disapointed by some of the characteristics of the heros, I did respect someone else's take on them. I would recommend this book for anyone with a love of Wonder Woman or a love for JLA in general.

Book not received.......2007-01-18

No greasy burgers???.......2007-01-17
Dr. Phil - like him or hate him - has some very good information here. Weight loss and diet control still boils down to the basics: Eat less and move more...but you have to start with eating healthy and getting your habits and mindset ready to get yourself more healthy.
This cookbook is nothing but healthy food - you know, the stuff none of us want to eat until our doctor says you may die if you don't! Anyway, as far as diet foods go, this is a very good cookbook with some not-so-bad tasting meals in it. Along with Dr. Phil's books, this is a plan that can work for you---if you want it to and stick to it!
You may not like Dr. Phil, but his advice, foundation, and information is right on the mark.
Great Compliment to The Ulimate Weight Solution.......2006-01-29
If you have not bought the Ultimate Weight Solution . . . you may want to consider reading it and then purchase the cookbook. The Ultimate Weigt Solution helps you get you into the mindset needed to live a healthier lifestyle. The cookbook gives new recipes that keep the array of food choices plentiful. Each week we pull out two new recipes which keeps the mealtime full of a few surprises rather than the same old diet food.
Don't knock it till you've tried it!.......2006-01-20
I have noticed many people have said stuff like, "I wouldn't even want to try the recipies", and that they are "unconventional". Well, lets face it - the reason you (and I) are fat is that we don't eat healthy foods. If we liked eating all of the vegtables and spices (instead of salt) in this book, then we really wouldn't need it would we?
So I say, if you are serious about eating healthier, give it a try. I have found some of the dishes that sounded the least appealing actually tasted great. The only reason I gave the book a four instead of a five is that I have had to tone down the seasonings and experiment with flavors I am more used to, but other than that most of the recipies are great. I have been using it 3 weeks now and have lost 12lbs.
So, don't knock it till you've tried it.
Dr. Phil is back and this time it's a COOKBOOK!.......2005-06-14
Dr. Phil is back and this time it's a cookbook! Advice like his is hard to find except for on television, DVDs and in his books that Oprah has recommended. Eating is good, true, but with Dr. Phil on your back your diet is healthier than ever. Plain-spoken truth was never as clear as this. Fat makes you fat, and denial makes you deny things. Denying that this cookbook is the BEST would be false advertising. I am in favor of weight loss freedom like Dr. Phil emotes on television, and now in a COOKBOOK it's like having the good Dr. ("doctor") in your kitchen helping you and tasting your goodies! With added health you will perservere! Try the recipe for Pork Kabobs in Walnut Lamb Sauce on page 67.
