Not Drawn By Warren.......2006-12-30
Although Amazon lists this album as created by Adam Warren, only the text is by Warren, while the pictures are drawn by a host of rather mediocre artists. Most of the time, I found myself thinking how hilarious this could have been if drawn by Warren himself, but now most gags fall to the ground with a thud.
With many different artists, the graphical style is changing too much, and none of them manage to produce anything above the mediocre. The stories are as good as you would expect them from Warren's hand, but the whole album just demonstrates how important it is to have a talented artist rendering the author's vision.
This book is a lot of wated potential.
Meanwhile.......2005-01-18
This TPB is issues 66-70, and has issues 43 & 44 added. The first part, isses 66-70 art work is done well, the story line is well written, well the last part of the book, isses 43 & 44 was well writen and entertaining, the art work had much to be desired.
The first part, Caitlin has to help Ivana to idetify a new Gen Active. Interesting play into the story from the radio, kind of cute.
The second story can be a bit confusing, it was about Roxy and Grunge, and had lots of flashbacks.
The thrid story is about, Sara and and has to do with her past and her Uncle, a nice story.
The fourth is about a pop song that grows to dominate all media outlets, and is driving Caitlin crazy.
I gave it 3 stars as the stories were good, i think they were just average.

"Do you have the heart to heal yourself?"
"We all have the healing power of unconditional love within us." -excerpt from the beginning of the book.
Each chapter of this book has a short but powerful story pertaining to a wide variety of subjects about life and spirituality. There are wONderFuL quotations relevant to the subject and each chapter ends with "The Truth is...", which includes a quotation, and then "Reflections" "Realizations" and "Affirmations"
I have had this book for a few years now, and I pick it up occassionally and then don't want to stop reading it. There is so much wisdom in this book. Universal Laws throughout.
Here are a few excerpts from the book:
"A loving person lives in a loving world. A hostile person lives in a hostile world. Everyone you meet is your mirror." -Ken Keyes,Jr
"You can only see things in others that exist in yourself."
"How you feel about something or someone is based on your perceptions."
"Every cloud has a silver lining and finding it is one of the most reliable ways to turn an apparent problem into a blessing! True wisdom is the ability to see the equal benefit or blessing hidden in every challenge, situation, sickness, or crisis. The silver lining is always as bright as the cloud is dark."
Chapter 11: "Inspiration is the secret of Vitality" -"Are you full of life...or barely breathing?"
The teachings of Dr. Demartini helped me to change my life.......2006-05-11
It's amazing how differently you look at the universe when you are grateful for all of your experiences, humbled because you are just one small piece of a big picture and inspired knowing that you have a purpose. Instead of seeing obstacles, you recognize opportunities and manifest miracles. Read this book if you are ready to open your mind and heart to a new way of living. I read it three times and each time gained a new insight. Enjoy!

Book Description
When adults "count their blessings," they usually count those things that are beyond a child's understanding. This book helps children learn that everything is a blessing, especially ordinary things like puddles, hugs, and snuggly toys. This is an early lesson in gratitude, optimism, and the abundance of life's riches that are hidden in the everyday.
Both comfortable and familiar, the rhymed text and the photos include the elderly and children of both genders (a reminder for those kids who doubt that siblings are a blessing). The blessings are numbered from one to ten, helping the text work as a counting book as well. For all Christian denominations, children ages 0 to 5.
The heart of the Walking with God Board Books is the Gospel message of love. The books also affirm family love and essential values, using a fun format that will charm both adults and children. In addition, the books help adults answer the perplexing "big" questions of life that little kids ask so often.
With black-and-white photos by an award-winning photographer and a team-up of two of Paulist's favorite creators of children's books, the series is a can't-go-wrong choice for parents and grandparents, care givers and gift givers, Christian day-cares and preschools, parochial and Sunday schools, home schools, and pediatricians' offices.

Customer Reviews:
A delightful look at how a child might count his blessings........2004-07-27
This short board book, written by Allia Zobel-Nolan, is delightful in it's simplicity and it's illustrations by Trace Moroney. A young bear is counting his blessings, including a cat, his family members, his mother's cooking, his friends, his home and God's love. It also teaches a small child to count the stars, which start with ten and go down to one at the end of the book. All in all, a good gift choice for any Christian parent or family member for a child from 2 years old to grammar school age.

This simple and charmingly illustrated reminds children of God's many blessings, entertaining as it provokes thought.
Customer Reviews:
Count Your Blessings.......2001-03-07
This book by Donna Cooner takes a popular hymn by Johnson Oatman, Jr. and creates a wonderful visual experience to share with your child. The hymn's refrain surrounds counting blessings 1-10, two different times. The vibrant colors portray children enjoying the blessings of childhood - a trip to the zoo, losing a tooth, or receiving a hug. This encourages parents to find ten more unique blessings for their own child. The music, written by Edwin Excell, is provided on the end papers - very kind for those of us without the gift of singing in key. The jacket recommends ages 3-7, but I feel it is stimulating for any age.
Book Description
As a child, when Robert Bly skinned his knee, his mother would always remind him to count his blessings because the injury could be worse. At the time, he found it irritating, but as an adult, he has realized the wisdom of her approach. Moreover, he has learned that in the overwhelming majority of cases, the sum of our blessings is greater than the sum of our problems. With that in mind, he offers Count Your Blessings, a fascinating mix of more than 100 often overlooked blessings-from the seemingly trivial to the highly significant. The brief entries-on subjects such as anesthesia, flowers, opposable thumbs, and Post-it Notes-are accompanied by a unique self-scoring system that allows the reader to see in mathematical terms that the blessings in our lives almost always outnumber the misfortunes. Readers will experience an increasing level of gratitude as they are reminded of the everyday items and experiences that make life more enjoyable and satisfying.
Customer Reviews:
Bob Bly is a blessing!.......2004-04-02
I just finished "Count Your Blessings" and truly enjoyed it. It's a wonderful mix of wisdom, humor, useful/useless information, inspiration, poignance and self-exposure. We all know now that Bob, who has been a friend and mentor for almost 15 years, is every bit as human, not to mention neurotic, as rest of us.
A couple of stray comments:
1) During the summers when I was in college, I managed an amusement park on the old Steeplechase site in Coney Island. During those two months each year I ate Nathan's hot dogs (with mustard) for breakfast, lunch and dinner. While it's now years between opportunities to eat one, I'm hard pressed to come up with anything I'd rather have than a Nathan's hot dog at Coney Island. (The ones at the franchise Nathan's are horrible.) The lack of availability is a good thing, however, since my digestive system can only handle them once or twice a decade these days.
2) I've got the answer for nose hair! You know that MicroTouch trimmer that's always advertised on TV for $14.99? The one that looks like a fountain pen and is touted as the way to keep your hair (head and body) trimmed? Well, I bought one and it works amazingly well (and painlessly) in cutting nose hair, as well as trimming eyebrows using the attachment included. I suspect it would also be effective in trimming ear hair, though that's the one affliction that hasn't hit me yet.
3) With hot dogs and seltzer listed as blessings, what happened to "knishes"?
Make that 64 Blessings: Add this Book to the List!.......2002-06-27
I read about 1/2 of "Count Your Blessings" last night and I like it!
I like how the tone is always intimate and honest, but sometimes serious and other times lighthearted. I also like how you sneak in facts to back up your statements.
Here are my favorites so far: the essay about your stroke, and the essay about freedom and the fish bowl. I especially like the structure of the fishbowl one since you directly deliver the "punchline" at the end AFTER you already made the point indirectly clear in the fish's description. (That device is also one of my favorite short story tricks.)
Thanks for the book, Bob!
Moving, inspiring, funny and wise.......2002-06-12
I have had many mentors over the last few decades.
One has helped me more than others. He is one of the most
successful freelance writers alive. He has helped me, and
numerous others, without ever expecting any return. I just
learned that this same man went through a stroke, at the
age of 44. Fortunately, he's recovered, and he's written a
wonderful book about gratitude. I'm talking about Bob Bly.
His new book inspired and delighted me while making
me feel glad for the little things in my life. Please read it.
Share it with others. Give it as gifts to strangers on the street. This is a rare, wonderful, uplifting book. -- Joe Vitale, author "Spiritual Marketing"
