I think this is the best book in the Corellian Trilogy. Second best is Assualt at Selonia (book #2). If you are thinking of reading the Corellian Trilogy skip the first book (Ambush at Corellia) the opening of Assualt at Selonia has a "What Has Gone Before" that adequately summarizes what was in the first book.

Thus concludes a fairly solid Star Wars Trilogy. Showdown at Centerpoint is the concluding volume in the Corellian Trilogy. The story we have so far is that Leia and Han, along with their children, a Wookiee, and a couple of droids went on a diplomatic mission to Han's homeworld of Corellia and became entangled in the civil unrest where the main faction is led by Thracken Sal-Solo, Han's cousin and a general bad guy. Thracken claims to have a Starbuster, a weapon which nobody has seen but that has already destroyed two planets. Yes, another Super Weapon. The civil unrest encompasses the entire Corellian system and through kidnapping and hiding, the Organa-Solo family, along with Luke Skywalker, Lando Calrissian, and Mara Jade, are working separately to stop the Starbuster from destroying the next planet on a list of targets and to restore stability to the region.
Joining together and splitting apart our heroes will travel to the strange Centerpoint Station, which may have everything to do the troubles. They will join with Selonians and the Drall, two non-human races in the Corellian system, and there is love and loss, lots of action, the rising importance of the Solo children, and the chance to save the Republic once again. The ending of Showdown at Centerpoint is a bit rushed, but taken as part of a trilogy this book and the trilogy is a satisfying Star Wars experience. While these books would not stand up with the best of Matthew Stover or Karen Traviss, this trilogy rises above the majority of Star Wars novels. It contains all of the action and fun of the movies and had George Lucas decided to use the stories of Roger MacBride Allen, this Star Wars trilogy would be just as successful as what was already filmed.

`Antone's eyes bugged out, and his jaw dropped open. It was at least a full five seconds before he was able to speak. "He's cranky? He's the - he's the only one who can - who can - " Atone gestured frantically at the control panel. "The starbuster is going to fire in an hour, and you tell me he's cranky?" '
Showdown at Center Point, is sadly the last book of this Star Wars trilogy. Everything is moving to the edge of disaster as the New Republic crew is trying to figure out who, or what, is blowing up stars. Anakin Solo is getting in trouble (once again), Han and Leia have to deal with squabbling Selonians, Dralls and humans. Han's evil cousin is back once again and making really big trouble. Lando Calrissian and Luke Skywalker enter Center Point and are nearly killed but finally figure out what in the heck it really is! Will they be able to save the next star on the list for destruction (along with the twelve million people on the planet next to it). You'll just have to read it to find out.
The beloved Corellian Trilogy is an excellent book for all Sci-fi fans, a must-read continuation of the Star Wars story for its fans and has great action for those who just want to be entertained. The author does a great job of making it clear where everyone is and what is going on, as the action takes you from place to place. He gives a great description of each new area or character you meet or hear about, and there are plenty of really hilarious moments where everything just goes wrong. This trilogy is hardly even boring with great action moments and moments where the character lives hang by a thin thread. It is one of the best action books I've ever read, a little bit better than "Harry Potter" with a sci-fi twist. Those who would really like this book/ trilogy is anyone who likes Star Wars in general, or anyone that likes sci-fi. Even if you don't know all the Star Wars characters and plots, the book does a great job of introducing you to it all. Even young kids can read this book and be entertained; same thing goes for adults. I would recommend this book to almost anyone who is even slightly interesting in reading it.
Good conclusion.......2005-08-08
I really liked this book. It wrapped everything up well. Since I had ready the NJO books already I knew who would make and not, but overall it was good series and did explain some background for events in the NJO. It is definetly worth you time.
Above average conclusion to an above average trilogy.......2003-08-10
The conclusion to the Corellian Trilogy is the best of the trilogy. The story really takes off and the action keeps the reader moving through the story at a good pace. All our heroes are in their prime ready to once again defeat the galaxy's evil. The biggest problem with this book is the ambiguity of the bod guys. Han Solo's cousin is just a front, and tis Triad are the real baddies but not much is really known or said about them. The author just kind of leaves them hangin so to speak. My other criticism deals with Anaking who is way to babyish in the beginnin gof the book and simply too sophisticated in the conclusion. OVerall however, this is a above average trilogy in the Star Wars universe.

If you are a Prophet,have the gift of prophecy or seeking just to know about the prophetic this is it. I have been desiring clarity of what I have been hearing from the Holy Spirit about the prophetic and this is one tool that you cannot do without. There's nothing like a book that gives scriptures with its definitions and not only has my vocabulary increased about the prophetic but this book has been useful in bringing clarity to the symbolic language in my dreams from God. Thanks to the author for having the heart and courage to share what God has truly given!

You do not have to go digging for it if it is already available for you. I know she had to go through a lot of trials and testings to get this book out from the enemy! Excellent Resourse.......2007-02-16
I have looked at a lot of books about dreams and symolizism. Although this book is detailed, it has a lot of information for the price. I guess I was ready for a little more depth. If you prefer something with less reading, consider Ira Mulligan's Understanding the Dreams You Dream. There are not many choices in a dictionary type reference for dream interpreting.

A WORLD OF NEW PROPHETS.......2007-07-28
This book describes most of the individuals who have played a role in cults and new faiths since the 19th Century. The book is a good source for those looking into the lives of the leaders themselves, but does not tell us much about the religions or the people who joined them.
Misleading title, fascinating topic.......2003-03-31
This is a useful and very interesting collection of biographies of founders, prophets, and leaders of new religions. Most of the figures are from the twentieth century, but a few are from as early as the sixteenth. The biographies are objective and informative, providing in one convenient place a great deal of esoteric knowledge about modern religion. I especially enjoyed going through the entire dictionary, discovering how dominant certain themes are among these people, such as poor education and childhood illness.
I only have two complaints. The first is---buyer beware!---the title is misleading, suggesting coverage of new religions in general. The truth is that this is a dictionary about new religions that have had a significant impact on the United States, with almost no exceptions. The coverage of U.S. religion seems to be comprehensive (including some very odd new-Pagan, etc. figures who don't seem to have a wide following--but a plus is that the author includes some very interesting Native American holy people); it just wasn't what I expected from the title. A second criticism is that the volume has a really impressive bibliography---but all references are listed alphabetically at the end of the book, rather than citing the applicable works after each entry, where they would be much more useful.

This is a substantially expanded version of a lexicon published in 1993 dealing with the Twelve Prophets. This new edition fully incorporates the data relating to the Pentateuch, the centrepiece of the Septuagint. Some 4.500 lexemes (the vocabulary of the New Testament Greek has a little over 5.000 lexemes). Much data from outside the Pentateuch and Twelve Prophets incorporated. Some 1.500 lexemes complete for the entire Septuagint. Many of these do not occur in the Pentateuch nor in the Twelve Prophets, but occur in books for which the Göttingen edition is available. For about 60% of the 4.500+ headwords all the passages occurring in the corpus are either quoted or mentioned. Based on the critically established Göttingen edition of the Septuagint. A fully fledged lexicon, not a glossary merely listing translation equivalents in English. Important lexicographical data such as synonyms, antonyms, idiomatic expressions, distinction between literal and figurative, combinations with prepositions, noun cases, syntagmatic information such as what kind of direct or indirect objects a given verb takes, what kind of nouns a given adjective is used with, and much more information abundantly presented and illustrated with quotes, mostly translated. High-frequency lexemes such as prepositions and conjunctions fully analysed. Data on contemporary Koine and Jewish Greek including the New Testament taken into account. Morphological information provided: various tenses of verbs, genitive forms of nouns etc. Hebrew/Aramaic words which a given Greek headword is used to translate listed with frequency counts. Substantive references to the current scientific literature. An indispensable tool for students of the Septuagint, the New Testament, Hellenistic Judaism, and the Greek language.

Beautifully Illustrated Collection of Jewish Prophecy.......2003-01-24
With this wonderful book from British author Michael Shire, I found myself in a dilemma. Should I keep this volume on my bookshelf in the art section or the leadership section? Should I place it with other books about biblical figures or with biographies of Jewish philosophers? This book is the definition of "multi-faceted." One can read it from cover to cover in one sitting, or use it as a reference about the lives of important individuals of the Jewish faith.
This beautifully illustrated collection of Jewish prophecy in the biblical, medieval, and modern periods features the lives and teachings of thirty women and men. Some of these individuals are well known prophets of the Jewish people, while others are not traditionally labeled as such, but after reading their stories, it is clear why such an appellation is appropriate. There is no doubt that Moses and Isaiah are prophets, but it is not until reading this book that the prophetic contributions of such individuals as Leo Baeck and Solomon Ibn Gabirol are realized. What is more is that Shire has included over 100 full-color illustrations from medieval Hebrew manuscripts acquired from the British Library. Enjoying the rich, colorful illuminations brings to mind Shire's beautiful Illuminated Haggadah with reproductions of medieval haggadot from the same collection.
Throughout Jewish history, members of our faith have bravely stood up to speak God's message and connect our people closer to God, even when their vision was unpopular among the masses. Each of the thirty individuals described by Shire has contributed in their own unique way to the continuity of the Jewish people over the ages. Each selection contains a brief account of the prophetic life of the individual, including how the prophet was viewed both in his own time as well as posthumously. Shire includes some of the prophets' most meaningful words; selected from biblical literature, speeches, correspondence, and published material.
The Jewish Prophet serves as a stunning inspiration for us today when we no doubt could benefit from prophetic leadership. The book is a lasting tribute to the energy these prophets displayed in their own life, and serves as a beacon for us to continue their passion to make the world a better place - l'taken olam b'makhut shadai. Each of these women and men possessed the leadership skills necessary to encourage the members of the community to lead a moral and spiritual life. Throughout their prophetic reign, they went to great lengths to criticize the evils of society and root out corruption among those in power, often at tremendous risk.
The author acknowledges that some may perceive "prophet" as a controversial appellation for several of his choices; however, each of these leaders demonstrated a special category of kedushah and action that greatly benefited the Jewish people. Perhaps this outlook is most evident in Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel's classic study of the prophets, in which he wrote that "the prophet's eye is directed towards the contemporary scene; the society and its conduct are the main theme of his speeches. Yet his ear is inclined to God." Shire, like Heschel, understands that a different understanding of prophet includes figures who witness the world around them with outstanding passion. Heschel understood that the prophet is a person rather than a microphone. The prophets' had the difficult task of serving as a refuge when the Jewish community was in distress; using his voice and vision to sustain the faith of the people.
It is all too easy for us to paint the prophets with a broad stroke of the brush. In this volume, however, Shire has depicted thirty prophets as unique individuals whose prophesies are as diverse as the times in which they lived. Dr. Ismar Schorsch writes, "since religion is the human response to the experience of the sacred, the range of dispositions determines the variety of responses. Some perceive God visually and others auditorily, some rationally and others mystically, some through music, others through poetry. The endlessly fascinating testimonies in Torah and Tanakh, Talmud and Midrash to this human encounter of the Divine celebrates the tapestry of human typologies. Or in the words of the Rabbis: `The same signal came to many prophets, but no two prophets delivered it the same way' (B.T. Sanhedrin 89a)."
Certainly, Shire is not the first to consider some of these unlikely individuals to be prophets. Janusz Korczak, the physician, educator, and children's rights campaigner set up a children's hospital to care for the sick and dying he found in the street, and risked his own life to provide medicine and food for these children. He could have escaped from the Nazis, but instead he chose to remain with his two hundred orphans who eventually perished with him in the gas chambers. Indeed, to the orphans in Korczak's care, he was a caring and devoted prophet.
This offering from Shire, who is vice-principal of the Leo Baeck College in London, will be a most important addition to the Jewish classroom. Under a new light, students will be re-introduced to many of the significant figures in Jewish history whom they have been studying like Samuel, Micah, Hillel, Yochanan Ben Zakkai and Akiva. They will also encounter the fresh words and visions of such notable prophets as Bachya Ibn Pakuda, Baruch Spinoza, Rav Kook, Henrietta Szold, and David Ben Gurion. We will come to appreciate these "prophets of our time" more after reading about their notable prophetic accomplishments, which are even more impressive considering the amount of adversity they faced.
This special book will quickly alter the belief of anyone who considers the concept of navi to have ended with the canonization of the Torah. The exploration through the lives of these thirty visionaries is testimony to the fact that the navi has walked in our time as well as the times of old. Heschel writes, "The prophet's word is a scream in the night. While the world is at ease and asleep, the prophet feels the blast from heaven." Dr. Shire invites us in to explore the wildly chaotic, yet intensely interesting life of the prophet. We might go into this exploration hoping to learn more about their lives, but we inevitably come out having learned more about our own lives.

Make research easy on yourself........2003-10-15
Scripture and commentary in Judaism and Islam can be an obscure and challenging field, and nearly impossible to research if you aren't litterate in a half a dozen dead languages. This book solves this problem by concisely organizing virtualy every topic into easy to understand yet techincaly detailed explanations.
Instead of spending hours searching the internet, the library, or translating texts that may or may not have something to do with your subject, get this book, read and understand your subject in English first, and then use the bibliography and footnotes to expand your research without wasting time barking down the wrong alleys.
If you are a student who is facing any test on this subject which may include 'identification of terms' this is a gold mine. Virtualy any term you may be looking for is alphabeticaly organized in here with ample definition. In many cases, this book may be the only English language source of convenient and explicit definitions of terms often thrown around in Ancient Near Eastern Studies.
