In this collection, one of the great classics of science fiction, Asimov set out the principles of robot behavior that we know as the Three Laws of Robotics. Here are stories of robots gone mad, mind-reading robots, robots with a sense of humor, robot politicians, and robots who secretly run the world, all told with Asimov's trademark dramatic blend of science fact and science fiction.
Book Description
The three laws of Robotics:
1) A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm
2) A robot must obey orders givein to it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3) A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
With these three, simple directives, Isaac Asimov changed our perception of robots forever when he formulated the laws governing their behavior. In
I, Robot, Asimov chronicles the development of the robot through a series of interlinked stories: from its primitive origins in the present to its ultimate perfection in the not-so-distant future--a future in which humanity itself may be rendered obsolete.
Here are stories of robots gone mad, of mind-read robots, and robots with a sense of humor. Of robot politicians, and robots who secretly run the world--all told with the dramatic blend of science fact and science fiction that has become Asmiov's trademark.

Good to see these two franchises together!.......2007-03-27
This is a dream come true for kids of the 80's. Two of our favorite cartoon show franchises together in one book. It's a whole lot of fun. The action in "Art of War" is chiefly on Cybertron, focusing on the battle between Optimus Prime and Serpentor for the matrix of leadership. Along the way, the question of what it takes to be a good leader comes front and center.
The artwork in this volume is quite good - better on the Transformers than on the humans, with the people coming across as manga-style cartoony, and the Transformers coming across as huge and cool.

POWERFUL LIFE CHANGIING BOOK!!.......2007-10-04
The Information in this book is simple and yet extraordinarly powerful insightful and lifechanging but only if your willing to put the information into practice. you must read this book with an open mind!!true happyness is within ourselves not any Relegious dogma or whatever society has forced down our throats!!Mr.Icke teaches us to be different to be ourselves.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED BOOK!!!
An excellent book, open mind recommended..........2007-05-17
"I am me, I am free" is an outstanding book that will rattle your belief system, drop kick your social and religious dogma, but nurture you with a new perspective on the world.
Whether you take his teachings as gospel or continue to exist in this matrix, the book will leave its mark on your conscious. You will not be able to see the world the same again.
The Robots' Guide to Freedom.......2006-10-20
The above is the subtitle of the book and exactly what the book is about. "Robots", the name first brought to the world by Czech writer Karel Capek. Robots represent the herd mentality of the human race as mentioned in the first chapter: "The nail that stands out from the rest is the first one to be hit." Add a little bit of religion, "We still believe too much and think too little" and politics, "Humanity has given its mind away and allowed the few to run the show", corruption in governments, exploitation of millions by financial institutions, indoctrination of kids, child abuse, mind control, and you get the picture.
You may not agree with everything, but I assure you that you will see eye to eye with a lot of things David Icke says. The book is an "early" Icke, circa 1996. It was written during the period when the author was still SEEKING the answers (today, he KNOWS them). Some of the past reviews dealt with subjects that might be considered either "extreme" (shapeshifting reptilians controlling the world; world leaders - including former Canadian prime minister Pierre E. Trudeau - killing, torturing and raping human slaves), or "personal point of view" (extra-marital sexual relationships flooding us with new knowledge and energy that allows us to evolve to a higher-level of consciousness). A subject I would consider as "radical" deals with AIDS (claims re HIV/AIDS transmission are nothing but lies). Could any (alternative) doctor or healer out there read and comment on this?
By the way, Mr. Trudeau had the privilege to share his bed with the world's most beautiful and distinguished women (Leona Boyd, Barbara Streisand and Karen Kain among others), had a 30-years younger charming wife and had to chase women away so he could get at least a few hours of sleep every week. Why the heck would he be interested in a hamburger when he had steak in his own bedroom?
The book is brilliantly written, both in form and substance. What is absolutely amazing is the clarity and openness with which the author presents his view of the world. He doesn't want to please anybody. He doesn't want to convince or convert anybody. He doesn't camouflage his thoughts and words. That is very rare, indeed, in today's society where people turn off their cellphones, switch off the lights and shut the doors when they want to talk about the world. My compliments to his courage and honesty. "I am me I am free" is a mind-opening and thought-provoking read for those who want to see another point of view.
My hat off to David Icke's "I am me I am free" great piece of art!!.......2006-10-15
Unique, articulate and lovable David Icke is successfully searching for truth and knowledge and has fantastic gifts of wit and humor, openness and honesty. It is PURE PLEASURE to read his books, watch and hear him talk. Doesn't matter how much you agree with him, he WILL enrich and inspire your life!!
Loved the book, though I'm not always sure about Icke.......2005-04-14
First of all this was a great book, and if anyone not familiar with David Icke wants to read one of his books i would recommend this one because it is not nearly as "extreme" as his other ones. This was a very inspiring book that has helped me make many positive changes in my life.
However, even though i think Icke is sincere in his work, he gets a little too paranoid and prints a lot of lies in his books. For instance Mark Phillips from Chapter 4 has pretty much been proven to be a fraud. I think Icke could really do a good job at waking people up about the corruption in governments going on around the world. However, he tarnishes his reputation by going on about satanic shapeshifting repitles controlling the world (which may or may not be true, who really knows) and promotes many other lies on his websites. Stories such as that of Al Bielek (see www.bielek-debunked.com) and the crazy Nibiru/Planet X theories.
In summary, I'd have to say reading Icke is a great ride, just don't believe everything he's telling you, cuz you'll wind up going nuts.

Hard to find.......2007-03-08
A great book for a 5-8 year old who loves Star Wars. Buy it new or in excellent condition to get the stickers.
an essential read for the young fan.......2007-01-26
"I am a Droid" takes the reader through a tour of the Star Wars galaxy's mechanized characters. As would be expected, everybody's favorite protocol droid is the narrator. C-3PO talks about both the benevolent robots (astromech droids, protocol droids, worker droids, etc.) and the nefarious ones (battle droids, destroyers, etc.). Some illustrations are from stills, but most images draw from "The Phantom Menace." The pages are very creatively designed with respect to the way the images interact with the text. The reading level is good for most second graders. Considering that the book initially retailed for $3.99, the accompanying stickers were by themselves worth the cost. "I am a Droid" is an essential book in any young Padawan's library.
Great book for young readers!.......2002-10-29
For those of you with young children, my son will be four in a couple months, this book is awesome! He hasn't put it down since we gave it to him a week ago.
This is a short picture book, which is narrated by C3-P0. The pictures are vivid and colorful. Most of them look as if they were taken straight from the Phantom Menace film footage, giving them an 'in the action' feel.
As an added bonus, this book also contains foil stickers of various droids/robots. My son loved pulling them off and sticking them to his clothes and bed posts. Reminds me of when I was four playing with my Star Wars figures and the likes. I will definitely be getting the remainder of the books in this series.
Excellent for kids and parents too!
Jack's review.......2001-01-16
It's a very good book. I like it. It's about droids. Battle droids and work droids.

In this classic theological treatise, the acclaimed theologian and religious leader Howard Thurman (1900-1981) demonstrates how the Gospel may be read as a manual of resistance for the poor and disenfranchised. "Richly endowed. . . . It is the centerpiece of the black prophet-mystic's lifelong [work]." --Vincent Harding

Victory in respecting personality.......2007-07-26
I tracked down Jesus and the Disinherited after reading Richard Lischer's fine study of Martin Luther King Jr, Preacher King. Howard Thurman, I had learned, was an influence on Martin Luther King Jr. A scholarly Christian reflecting on the African-American experience, he preached non-violence long before it was fashionable. As the back cover states, this is "an influential book whose message helped shape the civil rights movement and changed our nation's history for ever."
Thurman compares the situation of African-Americans to that of the Jews in the time of Jesus. He analyzes the psychological effects of oppression on individuals. He describes the strategies oppressed people adopt for survival based on fear, deception and hate. Fear teaches our body to avoid confrontation with a member of the dominant community, we use double talk so as not to attract negative attention, and our only possible response becomes hatred which keeps us from moral disintegration.
Jesus' call to love enemies was revolutionary. Genuine love must be a mutual recognition of the dominant and oppressed communities as human beings. Genuine love at an individual level (I hate all Asians, but this person I know to be a human being) may lead to an exceptionalism which does not remove the deep hatred of the others collectively.
Thurman concludes, "What, then, is the word of the religion of Jesus to those who stand with their backs against the wall? ... They must recognize fear, deception, hatred, each for what it is. Once having done this, they must learn how to destroy these or to render themselves immune to their domination." (p. 108)
The power of this book derives from Thurman's own experience of oppression and his analysis of Jesus' own experience of minority. It is not betrayal to love our enemies; it is a victory when the dominant and oppressed communities respect each other as equals.
Read this book!.......2007-01-09
Want to know the experience of an African American in America in the thirties and forties, the man who "discovered" Ghandi, went to India, and brought back his message, the man who then taught his students at Boston University School of Theology this message.
One of his students was Martin Luther King.
This short book should be bought, read, and shared.
Wisdom for the non-believer.......2000-04-07
Its is purported that Martin Luther King carried this book with him at all times, and upon reading these pages one can see immdiately that this book isn't just a tome of Christianity, but rather a blueprint for the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960's. But in a larger sense this book is a guide for transcending the heartache and humiliation of modern life and renewing one's vision of a spirited public and personal life.
A great look at a follower of Christ.......1999-08-24
This book is a classic which deserves to be named that. It is one great look at the heart of a decent and kind man, who personally, I believe, saw the heart and mind of God, and wrote accordingly. In this book, we will not find the harsh and intolerant God of the conservative establishment, but the real and kind God of the New Testament. Here we find a Jesus who wants to talk to us, hug us and be our best friend. Yet, this Jesus also wants to defend the poor and at-risk. This is a radical look at a radical man and, to me, savior, Jesus Christ.
The thoughts from Thurman's books are great spritual energy........1999-08-10
Howard Thurman, book regarding Jesus and the Disinherited, gave a spirtual informative opinion about the downtrodden condition of any race of people regardless of color. The true existence of Christ should be viewed only as a subject matter instead of an object.

Book Description
This book examines the meaning of Jesus' humanity, his divinity, and the special significance of his teachings to the poor and the oppressed. The discussion of these issues is shaped around the theology of Howard Thurman (1900-1981), one of the greatest religious thinkers of his generation. It is the only such work which thoroughly defines Thurman's significance as an African American folk theologian who both adopts and transcends his religious heritage. Thurman is depicted as a "folk theologian" who both perpetuates and transforms African American folk religion. The core of Thurman's theology revolves around his reinterpretation of the meaning of the concept of "humanity" and "divinity". The search for a "Black Christ", black messiah, has been a prominent feature of African American religious thought in the past two centuries. This book addresses Thurman's treatment of Jesus within the ebb-and-flow of the debates in this area. This is the first work devoted exclusively to the subject of Christology as the center of Thurman's theology.
