Intergalactic Warfare.......2006-05-17
A world where the Legion is all powerful, a universe of calamity and one soldier by the name of Colonel Bill Booly. By Blood Alone is the tale of the Legion, an all powerful intergalactic alliance that trains soldiers of every race to secure peace.
I reccomend this book to anyone because it is very well written and gives you many ideas about the future. Also, it uses very good grammar and figurative language.I say this because there are no short sentences, the whole paragraph flows togeter, and has many instances where your waititng to see what happens. There are many figures of speech and the book, set in the future, makes you wonder what the future will be like.
Will there be a Legion of central military and political power? Will people who get tried be able to choose between death or life as a cyborg? Many ideas such as half breeds, cyborgs, and intergalactic warfare puzzle your mind.
By Blood Alone is a great read for anyone who is willing to pick up a copy. Overall, By Blood Alone is a great novel.
By Blood Alone.......2006-05-08
By Blood Alone was a good book, but it was a difficult read. The switching of the characters in every chapter leaves you lost for a couple of pages. The book has lots of detail, but there is more about politics than war, which the book is supposedly about. There are too many times when the same women are described over and over again. Such as Pardo walking into a room of politicians and the men stare at her for periods of time. The other significant part in the book refers to the "Hoon" and "Thraki", whom supposedly must fight each other, as told in prophecies. The book ends when the Thraki are sighted by the Hoon. Overall, it was a good book.

Mutiny in the Legion ranks gives peace a bad name.......2004-04-03
Another generation, another galactic crisis. By Blood Alone follows in the chronological footsteps of William C. Dietz's Legion of the Damned and The Final Battle, each of which is focused (to a lessening degree) on a futuristic Legion and its army of once-human cyborgs. The action here takes place a generation after the end of the second war against the Hudathans, an alien enemy who seeks to destroy all life it comes into contact with. As is so often the case, an extended period of peace does more harm than good. On Earth, military cutbacks have dumped many Legionnaires out onto the streets, inspiring dissent and dissatisfaction among the ancestors of the great defenders of Earth and the Confederacy of Sentient Beings as a whole. This sets the stage for a mutiny that gives birth to a new and quite rotten form of imperialism on earth. Worst of all, the conflict pits legionnaire against legionnaire. Bill Booley III, whose grandfather and father played pivotal roles in defeating the Hudathan menace, finds himself smack dab in the middle of a mess. For starters, his honorable refusal to fudge the facts in a military trial of a prominent governor's son lands him a new assignment at the worst and most undisciplined Legion post in the galaxy: Djibouti in Africa. When the mutiny takes place and all legionnaires must take sides, Booley must organize his much-berated men and women (and cyborgs) into a respectable fighting force capable of at least defending their position from inevitable attack.
The novel is not without several strengths. The author's deft use of the conquered Hudathans in an unexpected manner definitely scores points in my book. His utilization of "geekheads" and hackers to get the word out on the true realities of earth's new government also plays well in the context of the story. However, while By Blood Alone actually ended up being a better novel than I expected early on, it is plagued with several problems. The characterization is somewhat weak over all, as these characters never come vividly to life; a number of actions are frankly hard to buy into; and too much happens outside the scope of the pages themselves. The actions of earth's new rulers border on the ludicrous, the reluctance of the Confederacy of Sentient Beings to react in any way to the dire events taking place on the planet of its most erstwhile defenders seems contrived, and - perhaps most of all - the elaborate plot involving several planetary leaders is not easy to embrace or give credence to. Several turning points in the drama come about outside the scope of the pages, and that is truly bothersome. You spend a number of chapters wondering how the author is going to deal with a certain issue, and then you are told the issue has been dealt with and the story quickly moves along to something else.
Then there are the characters; several are strong and heroic, but few stand out. My biggest complaint concerns the women of this futuristic universe. All of Dietz's prominent female characters (and this furthers a trend noted in previous books), no matter how important militarily, politically, or scientifically, seem to be part sex objects and part sexual predators. The entrance of any formidable female into a scene is constantly muddied with descriptions of men's physical reaction to what they are seeing and, as often as not, the female's thoughts on possible relations with the men she meets. There is little romance in the love that sometimes develops between a man and a woman, but Dietz always takes it upon himself to describe a couple of naughty excursions by two relative strangers (usually of mixed ancestry and heritage). Such interludes seem to serve no purpose other than to "sex up" a military science fiction plot quite capable of standing on its own too feet. As each Legion novel comes and goes, a growing sense of character shallowness takes more and more away from the reading experience.
Readers should note that, unlike Legion of the Damned and The Final Battle, the conclusion of this particular novel is rather open-ended, setting the stage for the events chronicled in the next book in the series (By Force of Arms). The introduction of two new civilizations, the Thraki and the Sheen, doesn't fit in well with the story of the mutiny on Earth, but it sets the stage for what is to come later. By Blood Alone is a stimulating read filled with enough action to keep one's attention throughout, but it leaves too much unexplained and thereby fails to impress itself upon the reader's mind. What is categorized as a battle for Earth seems, in the end, more like a squabble. In my opinion, this book represents a slightly disappointing effort by an author capable of taking the genre to vast new heights.
Nice continuation for the series ...........2001-12-04
This book won't make much sense unless you have read the previous installments in the series.
Even though (most) of the characters are separated from previous events by a generation, the story relies heavily on past events and will make much more sense if it read in series.
I enjoyed this book (and its predecessors). Nothing particularly
outstanding in the realm of military sf, but a solid contribution.

Book Description
Enter Misaki, perhaps the most innocent and most sincere young lady there ever was. It's almost inconceivable that she could be a vampire. And with her powers as a vampire, she could easily entice any human to do her biding... but she chooses not to. Especially when it comes to Kuroe, a young author who has a deep running past with vampires.

a good one.......2006-11-18
This is a really cute (but not so shojo-cute) story of a little girl vampire who has a caretaker. You don't know what kind of relationship it is, but you get the feeling Misaki is older than Kuroe so don't let the age difference scare you off. This is a really wonderful story; different and new. If you like manga and/ or like vampires, you'll like this story a lot.
Besides that, it's just a good story and great drawings as well.
I'm an anime guy..........2006-07-15
and I always found manga somewhat...pointless. I figured, why bother reading it when you can just watch it? Then I saw this while at Borders one day and was so intrigued. The cover art was beautifully drawn and showed the particulars of a possible love story. I picked it up and opened it to see what it was like. I was immediately intrigued and wanted it- even though I didn't find manga very enjoyable. However, I just bought this the other day and was so moved. The storyline is fantastic. With the vampire market in anime/manga being totally saturated, it's amazing that this title stands out so greatly amongst the rest. It's a beautiful love story riddled with suspense and intrigue. Gorgeous artwork and fantastic characters make for an awesome read. In fact? This manga just made me fall in love with what may be one of Japan's most popular forms of entertainment. This was the first manga I read- and thanks to Blood Alone, it won't be the last. It's $10...do yourself a favor and buy it right away. Towards the end of this first volume there's a scene that melted my heart completely away and I stopped on the page for a good minute just staring at the artwork and re-reading what was said. This is one good love story.
Best manga ever!!.......2006-06-02
Just finished reading and I was amazed by everything. Great story line, not another hey I'm a vampire and I have angst, but a real heart gripping tale. Very glad I bought it!! The artwork is very elegant and beautiful! A must for your summer reading...

Amazing detail, wonderful story line!.......2003-05-14
Blood Alone very quickly sets the tone of the plots and subplots that fill its lovely pages. The setting is World War Two and the Austra family is attempting to save the world from extinction by taking sides in a human war. Paul Stoddard is a young architect who comes to Chaves to work for Stephen Austra and AustraGlass and quickly falls in love with Elizabeth, one of the family. We are introduced to several characters that will become dear to us through the course of the book: Laurence Austra, Gregory Hunter, Charles Austra, to name a few.
I would recommend reading this before Shattered Glass, its predecessor, as it clears up a few mysteries and makes the series easier for the new reader.

Practical, spiritual advice.......2007-10-09
Recently purchased this little leather bound 3 books in 1 gift set and couldn't put it down. Easy to read and understand for anyone that may be new to scriptures and/or Christianity.
I really enjoyed the scriptual positive confessions he lists in the book for different areas of life that we may need help in. His main point is that there is so much power in our words that we need to watch what we say for truly life and death are in the power of the tongue.
Too many people throw around phrases like "my back is killing me" without realizing the power in those words. Mr. Capps emphasizes that words are the most powerful thing in the universe.
What I also liked is that not only does Mr. Capps emphasize the power of God in dealing with our health and finances, plus he also states that we use common sense and not be a "stubborn christian."
Meaning that we don't just stop taking our medication or seeing doctors because of Christian pride unless we are directed to do so by the Holy Spirit. Although our goal is for divine healing and it's already been paid for through the blood of Jesus, we need to stop and listen to the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
It's an easy to read book that can be taken with you wherever you go and I highly recommend its purchase. This is one that I will read over and over again and always have handy when I need a spiritual pick me up.
Excellent Gift.......2007-08-30
This book would make an excellent gift.
It is a soft leather and can fit in a purse.
The prayers inside are well written and effective.
Something we all need - prayers that get results
YOU HAVE GOT TO READ THIS BOOK!!!.......2007-08-22
WOW. I knew our words hold power but what I didn't realize is just how powerful our words are in the Spirit realm and here on Earth. Remember Jesus told His Disciples in Matt 18:18 that they had power to bind and loose (release). I believe this is still true today because Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. It makes sense that if we are called to do "even greater things" and since "every careless word spoken" will be judged then we ought to be very careful when and how we communicate. This book will Rock your world! Read it and give it away to friends.
Must have book.......2007-05-14
I just love this book. Its full of insite and wisdom from the bible. Everyone should get this
Wow!.......2007-03-19
This is a compilation of three of the authors booklets. Each a different area in which God's Creative Power will work in. Apply these prinicples and watch your life change. Great gift idea.

When Everything Fails You - Go Back to the Word.......2006-06-30
When you need results, immediately, go to Charles Capps books. I have 10's of Christian books; but none compare to the simple, direct and powerful words in these small books. At hand, you have the scriptures needed to speak over any situation that needs healing. It's non-denominational. When I read Charles Capps books, (he's a retired farmer), I can see him out there in his beautiful fields with his harvest - speaking life to the crops. These dynamite books speak life back into your body. When I need help, I return to these concise books and SPEAK THE ANSWER, not the problem.
God's Word Is Medicine.......2005-04-24
Capps believes that people can receive a divine healing through the use of God's Word in much the same way that a physical healing is attained by taking medicine. He lists numerous scriptual passages to be used in combatting different types of diseases and conditions. His prescription requires that these bible verses be spoken at least two or three times daily. If the condition worsens, he advises us to double our efforts.
Capps' little booklet is clearly written. His message is not really unique since it is similar to the approaches to healing advocated by Kenneth Hagin, Jim Glennon, Ralph C. Brittain, Dodie Osteen and many others.
Mini Book with a GIANT Message.......2002-08-14
This book is excellent, written in a very down to earth straight forward manner. It explains in simple terms the believer's authority and right to health. I continue to read the scripture based afirmations everyday. Charles Capps has many more worthy publications than are offered here. His ministry is based in England, Arkansas.
God's Creative Power for Healing.......2002-01-08
I find the book very helpful in getting back on the road to recovery. It explanes and releases the power of god.
Powerful, God's Word is truth, FOREVER!.......1999-09-01
Glory be to Jesus!!! Truly we can have what we say. "The power of life and death is in the tongue", and if we confess and believe what Jesus says, then we will be better than blessed because we will have all that He desires for us. He said "He's not a man that He should lie", and our faith mixed with His Word, will Work. Just remember, FAITH is always ready to work, unbelief is what causes it to take a break. Read the book and be Blessed of Jesus.
