    Book Description

Mia would give all the jewels in Genovia for the perfect present

Every year, Princess Mia spends the holidays in Genovia with Grandmère. This year, she's looking forward to the most perfect Christmas ever: her boyfriend, Michael, and her best friend, Lilly, are coming to Genovia, too.

But even a princess's plans can go awry. Lilly has a lot to learn about palace protocol, and with all the state holiday functions Mia must attend, there's no time to linger under the mistletoe with Michael. Worst of all, Mia hasn't been able to find him the perfect gift.

Can Mia stop her (bah-hum)bugging long enough to see that the perfect present has nothing to do with international express courier -- and everything to do with real love? (Though some shiny silver ribbon never hurts ...)

    Book Description

    Sixteen is the magic number

Mia doesn't always have the best luck with parties, so even though it's her sweet sixteenth, she doesn't want a birthday bash. As usual, Grandmère has other ideas, and thinks a reality TV special is just the thing in order to celebrate royally. The whole scheme smacks of Lilly's doing -- Lilly, whose own TV show is still only limited to local cable viewers.

Will Mia be able to stop Grandmère's plan? Will her friends ever forgive her if she does stop it, since it involves all of them taking the royal jet to Genovia for an extravaganza the likes of which would turn even Paris Hilton green with envy? Why can't Mia get what she really wants: an evening alone with Michael?

With a little luck, this sweet sixteen princess might just get her wish -- a birthday that's royally romantic.

    Customer Reviews:

    5 out of 5 stars Very Cute.......2007-01-22

This is a very short story about Mia's 16th birthday. It is very cute and filled with lots of moments between Michael and Mia that make you feel warm and fuzzy. Very Cute!!

5 out of 5 stars Too good, too short.......2007-01-02

I'm not going to go over the plot with you,I'm just here to tell you what I like and dislike. What I like? That's easy. Meg Cabot has once again outdone herself with this novel. Like I said, I'm not going to go over the plot, so you will have to read it or wonder for the rest of your life(okay, exaggeration). Dislikes: Just one. IT IS NINETY-SIX PAGES! I know, I know. Book 4 1/2 was fifty pages. What is the problem here? I'll tell you: This isn't a in-between book. It is supposed to be equivalent to 150 page novels previously written by Meg Cabot. Not to mention the fact that 4 1/2 had pretty much NO plot, whereas this one has a real setting, story, and more than ten characters.
That is all I have to say. Oh, yeah, one more thing:
    READ THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    5 out of 5 stars A must-read for all ages............2007-01-02

This book was great! Meg Cabot really outdid herself. However, I wish it were longer. There is certainly enough plot, but only 96 pages? Really.
All in all, I would say it is a great book. You would be best getting it at a public library, because for $9, you only get 96 pages[hardcover].

4 out of 5 stars Sweet, but too short.......2006-11-10

I won't delve into the plot, since many other reviewers have already done so. Instead, I'll say that Mia is progressively coming into her own, as this installment proves. She may be nervous addressing parents and school officials, but finally she has learned to emphatically lay down the law with her friends, something she certainly had trouble with at the beginning of this series. However, I found it frustrating that the book was over so quickly, especially at full cover price. I highly suggest you purchase a used copy if you don't have lots of money to burn.

    SPOILER!
    .
    .
    .
I also wonder if this book is setting up a possible future romance between Mia and another guy...

5 out of 5 stars Sweet Sixteen Princess.......2006-09-11

    Happy Birthday Mia!
Sixteen years old now, but she doesn't want a huge party. She just wants a night alone with Michael, which doesn't happen often with her being a princess and all. But Grandmere tries to get her on a special episode of My Super Sweet Sixteen.
How will she get a night alone with Michael? HOW! This was a sweet, short book that makes me ache for the next one.

    Book Description

What on earth is that princess up to now?

Hammer in hand, Princess Mia embarks on an epic adventure for one so admittedly unhandy: Along with her cohorts from school, she's off to build houses for the less fortunate. It doesn't take Mia long to realize that helping others -- while an unimpeachably noble pastime -- is very hard work. Will her giving spirit prevail? Will the house collapse due to royally clumsy construction? And most importantly, will Michael stop working long enough to kiss her?

What comes between Volumes IV and V of The Princess Diaries? Volume IV and a Half, of course!

    Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars Short, but Not So Sweet.......2007-06-28

Project Princess is a fun, short addition to the Princess Diaries series. This books details Mia's spring break spent building homes for the less fortunate. Project Princess goes by pretty fast that by the time you get into it, the book is over. Anyone who wants to read the entire series should just read it and then move on to the later installments.

    4 out of 5 stars Project Princess.......2006-09-02

This book was okay. Very short, easy to read. It covers what Mia is doing on her spring break and how she has a hard time adapting to the wilderness because she is a city girl.
But I think she's gotta get used to it, if she wants to save the whales or whatever.
But it's only fifty pages, and you should read it because after all you gotta take the good with the bad and if you loved her other novels you should try to keep up.

    3 out of 5 stars Project Princess.......2006-06-29

It was good but not as good as her other books. A very quick read but I should have only paid a couple of dollars for it not 5.00.

It was her same style but very short.

    2 out of 5 stars kinda disappointed.......2006-06-26

My daughter will love this book as she does all the Princess Diaries collection, but I am shocked I paid $5 for this book when the book comes with a *star* stating $2.99. I feel I may have gotten jipped!

As a side note, this is a great series for any young girl to read.

2 out of 5 stars Lowest Rating I've Given Yet.......2006-05-19

No offense to Meg Cabot, but this book was dissapointing... I mean, I love knowing now what Mia was talking about in book five with Michael and the hammer in the overalls deal, but this book made me look at Mia in a whole different light. Thankfully I rushed onto the 5th book and Mia went back to being her normal self. In the 4 1/2 book, she portrays herself very selfishly and I was extremely appalled by her "I think it's easier to worry about the unidentified species that might be killing off as we speak when your inside, away from all of it."
I hear the shallow bell ringing... I mean through the whole series she talks about how she wants to save the baby seals, and join Greenpeace, and she can't handle a little bug? Where will she get in life? Oh yeah, she's a princess. As an activist in animal rights and the environment, I am extremely dissapointed that Meg Cabot portrayed an extremely influencing character so selfishly.

Fifteen-year-old Mia Thermopolis, the witty, lovable star of Meg Cabot's The Princess Diaries, has had it with princess lessons, also known as torture sessions: "Do they really think anyone in Genovia cares whether I know how to use a fish fork? Or if I can sit down without getting wrinkles in the back of my skirt? Or if I know how to say 'thank you' in Swahili? Shouldn't my future countrymen be more concerned with my views on the environment? And gun control? And overpopulation?" To make matters worse, she's getting these lessons from Grandmère, a rather judgmental woman who dresses her pet in chinchilla bolero jackets and has eyeliner permanently tattooed on her eyelids. Princess in the Spotlight further records Mia's path to princessdom: her artist mother's relationship with her algebra teacher (how awkward), her forced television interview, broadcast to all of America (how humiliating), and her crush on her best friend Lilly's brother Michael (how excruciating). The result is another thoroughly entertaining diary of a very human, very self-deprecating, very unprincesslike princess. (Ages 12 and older) --Karin Snelson

    Book Description

She's just a New York City girl living with her artist mom...

News Flash: Dad is prince of Genovia. (So that's why a limo meets her at the airport!)

Downer: Dad can't have any more kids. (So no heir to the throne.)

Shock of the Century: Like it or not, Mia Thermopolis is prime princess material.

Mia must take princess lessons from her dreaded grandmére, the dowager princess of Genovia, who thinks Mia has a thing or two to learn before she steps up to the throne.

Well, her father can lecture her until he's royal-blue in the face about her princessly duty--no way is she moving to Genovia and leaving Manhattan behind. But what's a girl to do when her name is Princess Amelia Mignonette Grimaldi Thermopolis Renaldo?

    Download Description

No one ever said being a princess was easy. Just when Mia thought she had the whole Princess thing under control, things get out of hand, fast. First there's an unexpected announcement from her mother. Then Grandmère arranges a national primetime interview for the brand-new crown princess of Genovia. On top of that, intriguing, exasperating letters from a secret admirer begin to arrive. Before she even has the chance to wonder who those letters are from, Mia is swept up in a whirlwind of royal intrigue the likes of which hasn't been seen since volume I of The Princess Diaries.

5 out of 5 stars Cornwall, NY Sixth Grader.......2007-03-07

I am a sixth grader. I read the book Princess in the Spotlight the second Princess Diaries. This book is by Meg Cabot. In this book, Mia, gets a big surprise. But when her mom tells her the surprise, Mia isn't too happy. But this surprise leads to another. You see, Mia's mother is still dating Mia's algebra teacher, Mr. Gianini. So now Mr.G will be moving in with Mia and her mom plus Mia's mom is marring Mr.G!! Mia is so shocked when she hears this news. She is still shocked to hear the first surprise her mother told her. So now Mia is thinking that it is not going to be fun having her algebra teacher living with her. But after a few weeks of thinking about it and finding out that Mr.G has a fooze ball table and a pin ball machine she decides that living with Mr.G won't be too bad. But when her grandmother plans a big interview with a big interviewer, Mia is very nervous. When she finally has the review, she feels as if nothing will ever go right again.
Mia's father is there, and well Mia's mom has not exactly told Mia's dad that she is getting married. So when Mia tells the entire world about her mom marring Mr.G, not only is Mia's dad in shock, but so is her grandmother. For the next few chapters, things don't go so well for Mia. Later on in the book, Mia's grandmother decides to plan her mom and Mr.G's wedding. Her grandma even hires a professional planer. Mia knows that her mom will not like the fact that her daughter's father's mother is planning her wedding. But after Mia's mother's parents, who have never in their entire life left Africa, come to help Mia's grandmother plan the wedding that Mia's mom doesn't even want, Mia and her mom thinks things have gotten out of hand. But they both know that they can do nothing. So they call Mia's father to take care of his mother. Well I don't want to give any more away but I do recommend this book for anyone who is a girl and liked the first Princess Diaries book.

4 out of 5 stars Princess in the spotlight Review.......2006-11-07

I thought that this book was really nice to read because it had every thing that was in the first book. Every character is back and that everything is still the same even Mia is the same old self except the whole princess thing. What I like about Mia is that she was afraid of being a Princess but then she got rid of that fear and sayed it might be fun being a princess.

4 out of 5 stars Mias big surprise.......2006-11-05

Mia Thermopilis thinks she has a normal life. She thinks she is just a mormal flat chested freshmen at Albert Enstein high school. But she found out somthing shocking. She's the princess of a little european country. Her life has been a mess ever since she found out. At the beginning of this book, she found out that her mom was pregnant! Mia thought it was a good and a bad thing. She then found out that her algebra teacher was the father! Her mother told her that they were going to get married! When Mias gradmere (the queen) found out there was going to be a wedding she wanted to make a big wedding. Will the wedding follow through or will it be a complete disater for mias mom who just wanted a very small wedding. A wedding that did not include Martha Stewert and the first lady. I thought the ending was great. Read the book yourself to see what happens.

The Princess Diaries is a great book. It is book I love to read over and over again it also is very antertaining and once you start reading you'll NEVER put the book down. It's about a girl named Amelia becoming a princess but she does'nt want to be a princess but at the end she loved being a princess. I hope Meg Cabot keeps writing these very exciting and entertaining stories.

4 out of 5 stars Princess Diaries Times Two.......2004-12-29

This collection of Books 1 and 2 gives you more of an insight into the saga of Mia, an awkward teen, who suddenly finds herself a Princess of a small country. I saw the movie before I read the books, and found them different from one another. The movie is very Disney, while the book is filled with more angst and depth. While I enjoyed the movie, the books themselves are worth reading in order to get the real sense of Mia's inner thoughts or "diary".

4 out of 5 stars The Princess Diaries.......2003-12-23

The Princess Diaries is written by Meg Cabot. The book was about a girl Amelia. The book was like she wrote in a diary every and she sared it with us. Book Description

Written with warmth and clarity, this book belongs in the hands of anyone who has agonized over an aging friend or relative or worries about his own capacity to remember. No physical problem is as destructive or frightening as the loss of memory. Stress, pain, depression, overmedication, stroke, or Alzheimer's disease -- these are just some of the causes. In this fully revised and updated book, an internationally known neurosurgeon and researcher at Massachusetts General Hospital outlines the latest treatments that help reverse memory loss: New forms of memory recently discovered by researchers, new tests to evaluate memory capacity, new research on the effects of prescription medications, including widely used antidepressants, and brain "poisons", new research on the important role of nutrition and exercise in promoting memory, advances in early diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer's, and promising new research on the regeneration of damaged brain cells.

5 out of 5 stars amazingly helpful book for people with memory loss.......2003-03-02

This book is really an eyeopener for me and shocked me with the facts about how many elderly are wrongly diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease when they in fact have treatable other memory problems. I'd recommend it to anyone with a memory problem, including me! Also, it is reassuring that many of the things, ie forgetting names, forgetting where my car is in parking lot are not signs of serious memory loss. Also, this book emphasized to me the effect of depression on memory problems, which is comforting. The book is very caring and hopeful filled with practical advice to share with your doctor. I hope it is updated and reissued though. Valuable to read and helpful overview for people with loved ones bewildered with memory problems.
