Bring on Endora!.......2006-06-25
Cassie is the author of a syndicated column called Kitchen Witch. When she ends up on a book signing tour with M.S. Kazimer (aka Mick Sandor), the two couldn't have less in common. Or so it would seem. Cassie is actually a 90 year old witch, but since real witches age at a much slower rate, Mitch and Cassie are about even - appearance-wise. When Cassie senses absolute evil during the tour and sends her familiar into a possibly fatal situation, the truth comes to light that the FBI arranged the book tour to flush out a serial murderer who has used Mick's books as his basis for killing. The two work magic together - in more ways than one - to close the case and keep their future together possible. I am already looking foward to THAT OLD BACK MAGIC, which continues with the story of Cassie's familiar, Endora Bast.
Some Practical Magic.......2006-05-30
What a great book. I loved every magic moment that I spent reading it. The characters were great and the story line fantastic. I can't wait to get the sequal and read that one as well.
A fun & amusing read.......2006-02-20
Cassandra Hathorne is a 90 year old witch; witches don't age at the same rate as humans, however, so she looks significantly younger to human Mirek "Mick" Sandor, aka horror writer M.S. Kazimer. Mick and Cassie meet on a book signing tour, although Cassie is unaware that the tour has been arranged by the FBI. A serial killer has focused on Mick's books for his pattern to killing and Mick and the FBI are trying to stop him. Mick has decided to quit writing horror after this tour and once the serial killer finds out, all plans go awry. This book has great quirky characters in it, as Cassie's familiar is Endora Bast, a shapeshifing cat who can pass as a human (and wouldn't you know that Mick is allergic to cats?). Cassie's mom, Medusa, tries to matchmake Cassie throughout the book and ultimately helps Cassie and Mick with the killer. This was a fun read that definitely kept me smiling. I will most definitely read the next book, which is Endora's story.
A satisfying romantic adventure.......2005-06-13
Cassandra Hathorne is an author of 'KITCHEN WITCH' syndicated news column and Books and M. S. Kazimer is a mystery/horror writer who sits next to her during a book signing tour as seating is alphabetical. Although he looks good for a guy of 40, he is also mortal and she is a witch who at 90 is barely middle aged. Unknown to her, Mick has been a fan of her writing and is looking forward to meeting her.
The FBI discovers there is a serial killer copycatting Kazimer's book plots who is now stalking the tour. They plan a trap which backfires and will lead to both authors' deaths without the aid of magic and love.
SOME PRACTICAL MAGIC is a suspenseful but humorous witch story with 'shades' of the BEWITCHED TV sitcom to add to reading pleasure. The look at the serial killer is vivid but not overwhelming which I appreciated as this is a romance rather than horror. The secondary 'witchy' characters add spice and humor to lighten the serious side
of the story. Medusa, Cassie's match-making mother 'pops in'
occasionally with friends and advice. Endora, the cat familiar is never short on advice and also works as Cassie's publicist on the tour.
Besides looking out for a serial killer, the main characters are looking within at relationships and what they will do with their life after the tour. Although expressed typically, the serious aspects are not overwhelmed by the humor. I would recommend this book to anyone wishing a satisfying romantic adventure.

Some Practical Magic.......2004-10-16
What do you get when you combine Bewitched with Stephen King? Or Bell, Book & Candle with James Patterson? You get Laurie Kuna's wonderful book, SOME PRACTICAL MAGIC. This tale of love between a real live witch and a horror writer skillfully blends romance, humor, witchcraft and suspense. In addition to a likable heroine and a hunky hero, Ms Kuna creates truly exceptional secondary characters. I hope she's busy writing Endora's (the heroine's feline familiar) story.

The Greatest Salesman in the World is a tiny book, and it is a treasure. First published in 1968, Og Mandino's classic remains an invaluable guide to a philosophy of salesmanship. Mandino's clear, simple writing style supports his purpose: to make the principles of sales known to a wide audience. A parable set in the time just prior to Christianity, The Greatest Salesman in the World weaves mythology with spirituality into a much needed message of inspiration in this culture of self-promotion. Mandino believes that to be a good salesperson, you must believe in yourself and the work you are doing. It is a simple but profound spiritual philosophy about how to succeed in the world's marketplace, easily understood and easy to take to heart. --Jodie Buller

Great Salesman.......2007-10-07
I have read all of Og's books. I like "The Greatest Salesman" the best. This is a very short book with short words. It is easy to read. The story line helped me remember the morals that the author was trying to teach. The story talks about the hard work and lonely times of selling. It talks about keeping up your spirits up even when customers keep saying no and no and no. He talks about honesty and compassion for others. The story is set back in Biblical times about a camel driver who wants to improve his meager lot in life. However, every part of this story is just as appropriate today in modern times.
Excellent life lessons.......2007-08-07
I first read this book in a college speech class. Although it has nothing to do with giving speeches, this book is filled with great lessons & aspirations for anyone (in any profession - not just sales). I later purchased a copy to have in my permanent library so that I can review/read it again and again. I hope that I can exemplify the attributes taught in this book and teach them to my children (in the future).
Great little book........2007-07-19
Book is a fast read. Great inspiring story. Helps success minded people stay focussed on the habits required to bring many forms of success into your life.
Classic Sales Motivation.......2007-07-07
Og Mandino's "The Greatest Salesman in the World" is one of the all time classics of the Sales Profession (although, I think this is a book everyone should read at least once). This book goes beyond the typical sales methodology found in most sales books and drives home the principles that are at the heart of real success in the Sales Profession. This inspirational book is one that every Sales Profesional should have in their library and read at least once a year. And, if you ever doubt yourself or are ready to give up and throw in the towel, the first passage in the book is guaranteed to motivate you to keep going.

the greatest salesman in the world.......2007-05-18
This was truely and excellent book. Most sales people know thebasics, but this book outlines the underlining principles behind the "real profession", this isn't a book for many, only the few who understand it learn from it

You MUST READ: The Greatest Salesman in the World: Part II The End of the Story.......2007-08-30
What a special person! This is someone who changed peoples lives by what he wrote! He was a brilliant author and person. I believe Og Mandino will live forever in our hearts, minds and spirits! This book as well as anything he wrote would be very much worth your time to own in your library.
Another good one........2007-07-19
If you've never read one of Og Mandino's books, you should. They are inspiring for success minded people. I find that reading these types of books often, keeps my thoughts focussed where they should be. Most of his books reiterate the same principles, with a new idea here or there. You've probably heard these principles before, but they are presented nicely here. Great value for the cost of this book.
Excellent.......2007-01-11
It will take your breath away and bring you back from just going thru the motions to living in happiness. Truly touched by the hand of God, as with all of Mandino's work, a true gem.
Sensing Repetition.......2006-07-30
The original Greatest Salesman in the World follows the great salesman Hafid's life before and after he reads the 10 scrolls of selling success. In this quite similar sequel, the scrolls of success are lost in a shipwreck, and Hafid is divinely called to write 10 new scrolls in order to replace the old ones.
The new scrolls emphasize these main points:
-Never again will I belittle myself
-I won't start the day without a map
-I will be enthusiastic
-I will never be unpleasant to others
-I will look for triumph in adversity
-I will do my best on every task
-I will focus completely on the task at hand
-I will never wait for opportunity, instead I will seek it
-Each night, I will reflect on what I did, and think about how I can improve
-I will pray to the creator in success and failure
Some of these points look VERY similar to the points made in the first book, so much that I was tempted to give this book 3 stars, but the new scroll emphasizing the foolishness of waiting for opportunity was much needed. Also, the last scroll about prayer was needed, even though it is essentially a repeat of the tenth scroll in the first book. I am very glad that this author puts so much emphasis on prayer.
Aside from repetition, the only thing I didn't like about this book is that the scrolls are treated so majestically, being just a hair under Biblical scripture itself - almost as if to suggest that the ingredients necessary for any kind of success are both the Word of God AND ten extra scrolls. I'm not so sure Paul would agree. The scrolls are helpful for success, but not necessary.
But yeah, I have to agree. Sitting around and waiting for opportunity to come to you is really the worst thing you can do.
Must-Read.......2006-07-22

Greatest Reading.......2004-06-09
I bought this trilogy when it first came out. I have read it once a month--these three books are wonderful lessons for daily living. I have been retired for 13 years now and have volunteered with AARP and the Environmental Alliance for Senior Involvement (EASI). I have traveled across the country many times in my volunteering capacity and met wonderful people in all 50 states and three provinces in Canada. If it were not for this triology by Og Mandino, I probably would not have done my volunteering. His inspiring writings just keep me going and wanting to do better every where I go. I keep his book with me and read it as I travel--when I finish I begin again--there's always something new--something that inspires me toward greater work--my Dad told me many, many years ago that you can never waste money buying good books--this is one of the best investments in books I have ever made. I think you will agree with me when you read it.
YOU WERE BORN TO SUCCEED... WITH HELP FROM OG MANDINO !.......2000-04-30
Why is one man sad and another happy ? Why is one man joyous and prosperous and another poor and miserable ? Why is one man fearful and anxious and another full of faith and confidence ? Why does one man have a beautiful luxurious home while another lives out a meagre existence in a slum ? Why is one man a success and another an abject failure ? Why does one man convince himself that he is only entitled to achieve mediocrity while another knows that luxury and success are his for the taking ?
The seeds of success are in us all if only we will recognise them and feed them.
This amazing trio of books are a superb example of motivational material at its best. Ogs syle is superb. Easy reading, with loads of common sense (that we could all do with at times !)and some brilliantly simple exercises that will help you get exactly what you want from life, be it wealth, contentment, spiritual & family happiness. Whatever you want from life, the words of Og Mandino will help you.
As a successful busnessman who was once on the brink of financial and emotional ruin, I cannot endorse the experiences and works of Mr Mandino enough.
Books that make your neck hairs tingle are rare. This one does just that and leaves you wanting more !
Talking of which, having read this book I was compelled to read "The Greatest salesman Part II", "A better way to live" and "The Choice". Absolutely brilliant.
We all need some help getting from where we are to where we want to be. Whatever your desire in life, wealth, success, a more peaceful existence, a better way to live ...... add any of Ogs books to your basket. You won't regret it !
Essential reading for those people who really want to take control of their lives and claim the success WE ALL DESERVE.......
The book is sensational!.......1999-02-03
My uncle gave me the book for my birthday. This Book has changed my life for the better. Since then I have let my friends borrow this book so they to can share in the knowledge and wisdom Og Mandino has to offer.
Truly Inspirational.......1999-02-01
To read this trilogy and not come away a different person is impossible.I've read alot of self-help or motivational books, and I would put this at the top of the list. You can feel the hand of God as you read it. Awesome Og!
Product Description
The dust jacket states, "Each generation produces its 'literature of power.' This type of writing literally has the power to change the readers life. In this tradition, THE GREATEST SALESMAN IN THE WORLD is destined to influence countless lives.
"Here is the legend of Hafid, a camel boy of two thousand years ago, and his burning desire to improve his lowly position in life. To prove his potential ability he is dispatched to Bethlehem by his master, the great caravan merchant, Pathros, to sell only one robe. He fails and instead, in a moment of pity, gives the robe to warm a newborn baby in a cave near the inn.
"Hafid returns to the caravan in shame but is accompanied by a bright star shining above his head. This phenomenon is interpreted by Pathros to be a sign from the gods, and he gives Hafid ten ancient scrolls which contain the wisdom necessary for the boy to achieve all his ambitions.
"This haunting story also presents the complete writings from the original scrolls. Hafid applied their secrets of success to become the greatest salesman in the world...and what they accomplished for him they can also achieve for you...for we are all 'salesmen'...and the success we attain in life depends greatly on how we 'sell' ourselves to others.
"You will long remember the books final chapter...as old, wealthy, and successful Hafid, THE GREATEST SALESMAN IN THE WORLD, ultimately passes on the ten scrolls to a very special person."
Customer Reviews:
Must read for insurance salespeople.......2007-01-06
I bought this book 20 years ago & was just thumbing through my copy. Ben Feldman was a master salesman and proved it in this book. For his time, Feldman produced staggering sales figures. These were mostly sales of whole life policies packaged to presented to business owners. The sales techniques and Feldmanisms are easily transferable to today's selling and also transferable to the selling of any product. He took a boring product like whole life insurance and made it brain dead obvious that you should own it. Spend the money. Get the book. You can't have mine.
Applicable to ANY Sales Position.......2006-08-21
I'm not an insurance salesman, but am in Financial Services. i recently found a copy of this book and finished it in one day.
The principles used by Ben Feldman and described by the author (his former boss) are basic, fundamentally sound tenets of sales. However, they are iterated in such a way - coming from a reputable and successful source - that drives home the simplicity of what is needed to be wildly successful in sales (and not just insurance sales!).
Because this book is out of print, it's hard to find, and an old copy might run upwards of $30-40 or more; however, please believe me when I state in no uncertain terms that it'll be money well-spent.
This book cuts through a lot of the modern-day waste, drivel and filler that lines the pages of today's sales books (possibly because it was written in 1969) and cuts right to the core of what is needed to make it.
If you are fortunate enough to uncover a copy of this volume, grab it, read it, learn it, and do not give it away.
