HILARIOUS Book of Science and Technology Cartoons.......2002-09-06
I'm not a scientist and don't pretend or intend to be. Nevertheless, I thought this book was hilarious. Harris does for science and technology what Scott Adams (who created the *Dilbert* cartoon) does for the business world. He illustrates the funny sides of the scientific and technological environments in such a simple and funny way that just about everyone can enjoy it.
If you have even the remotest interest in science and/or technology . . . or even if you just think that some of what goes on in those environments can be a little wacky or bizarre at times, then this book will definitely make you laugh out loud.

this book is for the science enthusiast. i bought the book 3 years ago and i still enjoy leafing through and reading the cartoons. i highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys intelligent humor because you will get a good laugh.

This one's hard to write a review on -- you kinda have to see the cartoons yourself, and you'll either laugh or you won't. My bet is if you're even considering buying the book, you'll laugh at 'em. And you'll find at least a few worth passing around or pasting on your office door. They cover the gamut of science and engineering topics.

Dolce & Gabbana Fashion Album.......2007-06-08
There are few books in which every page is a work of art in itself. This fashion album is such a book. Everyone should experience the artistry of each photographer and his subject. Awesome work!
ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS.......2007-03-01
The volume is fantastic in a number of ways: it's not a chronological compendium of photographs which is a plus in my opinion. Photos are arranged by photographer, which gives well deserved credit to those who bring fabulous images to life. I also like the fact that each photograph is captioned with the name of the publication, month and year, and the model's name. It gives the ladies credit, and reminds us of the fleeting nature of their work. Linda and the rest of the ueber-models don't need a caption, we all know who they are, but so many of the other ones have come and gone :) Be prepared to see about a 50/50 mix of color and BW photography. And enjoy photos from major European magazines, some of which select styles and types of photos that one may not find in the US. It's not just nudity, but a certain flair that is so european.
In sum - get this wonderful book, it's well worth it.
P.S. It weighs a ton, so don't lift the package too swiftly when it arrives at your door :)

Behind the concept curtain.......2006-08-24
I'm reviewing this book not as a fan of Dolce Gabbana, which I am, but as a photographer who loves their ad campagians, especially those of the past decade. WOW. Unlike the movie business, not a lot of behind the scenes stories are written about the production of the biggest fashion ad campagians with the top photographers. I was surprised to find that Steve Misel shot most of their recent ones. More than that it is great to see the drawings for how they were developed and what the thought process was. PLUS the Photos, which looked amazing in teh magazine really shine when printed on high quality paper. A great book, but a bit pricey unless you find a killer deal on a used copy, which I did.

All I can say is 'Wow.'.......2006-06-30
I did not think that anyone could put together such an amazing book. The book starts off with the spring/summer collection of 1986. It features runway photos and describes every season. The photos include advertisements, editorials and runway photos. The quality of the pictures are amazing! There is a page dedicated to every season where Domenico and Stefano are interviewed and they describe the theme of the season.
There is one big flaw that really makes the reading of the seasons terrible. The author misspelled words and then just crossed them out and kept it in the text. There is also underlined text and even whole sentences that are circled. This makes reading about every season difficult because the sentences do not flow.
Please get this book. The price is worth it and you'll love all the beautiful pictures.

If you have Hollywood by Dolce & Gabbana, it's very similar. Pictures of musicians from magazines, concerts, and red carpet adorned in D&G. Pictures are ok, a lot of the same artists, however, could use more of a variety.

the book I receive was in excelent conditions. It arrived sooner that I though, which helped me to complete a research project I was doing for school.
I'm crying from disappointment!.......2006-06-02
D&G is one of the top five brands but this book made me cry from disappointment. The book is very small and does not have many pages. The book begins with a "Dolce & Gabbana Glossary." The glossary has words like, "Animal Print," "Black," "Tank Top," etc. I know what the color "black" is. Apparently the author assumes the reader is stupid and does not know what the color black is.
The pictures are a big mound of doo doo. All the pictures (with the exception of two) are in black and white. (The other two pictures of a yellow color). Almost ALL of the great pictures can be seen in "10 years of Dolce & Gabbana." I recommend that book over this one. Also, the pictures in this book are not even great looking. There are no advertisements or pictures from the catwalk. Buy "10 years of D&G" instead and you'll enjoy it more.

wonderful text, questionable photos.......2002-08-23
i received this book as a gift and looked first at the photos. i was disappointed to see that many of the tattoos pictured are what i, (as an educated fan, not an artist) would not consider exceptional. the work is good, some is incredible, but with all of the brilliant artists and pieces that could have been used, the selection seemed limited and at times the works poorly chosen. many of the artists used have more than one (or two or three) of their pieces used, which limits the exposure of quite a few of what i would consider "the greats."
the test, however, was exceptional. the history of tattooing is covered throughly and the modern information is very up-to-date considering the ever-changing subject matter. the book begins with an interesting and thourough introduction and follows with chapters dedicated to specific styles. the final pages are devoted to q&a's, which would be very helpful to customers new to the art.
overall, this book is a great source of information, but if you're looking for a photo gallery, you might want to look elsewhere.

how can i review this book when i ordered it last june 9 on an overnight delivery and now it's a month later and i still have not seen a cover or a page of this book...this is the first time i've used amazon.com and frankly i am disappointed coz i've heard such good things about shopping online specially with amazon.com....so consider this a review of amazon.com...they do not deliver...therefore on a scale of 1 - 5 stars...a dismal 1

Utilizing their fascination for traditional rural fashions, the designing dream team of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana has captured the fashion world by storm. Since their company's inception in 1982 to the present, Dolce & Gabbana has made Italian fashion look so wearable.
This book, which celebrates their first 10 years in business, is a collection of past ad campaigns and a plethora of celebrities that normally would make a coffee-table book about fashion appealing. With a foreword by Isabella Rossellini, and appearances by many top name fashion models, Dolce & Gabbana's vision of incorporating Sicilian (Dolce is orginally from Palermo, Sicily) & rural styles is genius. Their tribute to Madonna, who gave them the brand-name notoriety they deserve, is great (Dolce & Gabbana got big press for designing the outfits for Madonna's "Girlie Show" tour). Their recent work with Whitney Houston on her world tour was also spectaclar as these gentleman know how to make a woman look and feel like one.
I am so happy that Dolce & Gabanna, wo are my all-time favorite designers have been in the fashion business for over a decade already. I hope to see a followup of this book very soon, whenever they reach their 20th anniversary. An excellent tribute to a talented duo.

I consider Dolce & Gabbana to be among the very best designers of our time- very much in the same class as the late Gianni Versace, a fellow Italian designer.
The photography in this book is very, very good most of the time. My favorite pictures are from a Fall 1995 ad campaign that featured my favorite, Linda Evangelista. Here she is, with her trademark Sassoon angled bob, one of her best looks ever. Another favorite set are of Nadja Auermann and Kate Moss, from a 1992 campaign. So over the top!
Also included are some celebrities, like Demi Moore and Madonna, who had D&G design her Girlie Show costumes.
You don't have to be a fashionista to appreciate this folio. I think this book would look great on ANYONE's coffee table.
