As a photographer, i rarely see photos that are unique and funny and poignant. many artists in this book meet all the above criteria.
Really good stuff

I read the D&C magazine regularly and still found the Annual a fab addition to my bookshelves- if you like cutting-edge photography and gorgeous books, you'll absolutely love this!

Book Description
Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, and John Bonham make up Led Zeppelin, one of the greatest hard rock bands ever. This heavily illustrated book gives readers an in-depth examination of everything that inspired the songs of Led Zeppelin. What was the "House of the Holy"? Where was the "Stairway to Heaven"? Which strange encounters led to such classics as "Kashmir" and "Trampled Underfoot"? Was it an earthquake that inspired "Going to California" on their untitled fourth album?
Dazed and Confused reveals the roots and origins of the songs on all eight of the band's celebrated studio albums, together with all the stories behind material released after Zeppelin's break-up in 1980, including Unledded: No Quarter and the BBC Sessions album. You are invited to explore the inspiration behind the sound of four brilliant musicians who defined the concept of hard rock, and yet imbued their work with passionate magic and mystery. That mystery is heavily explained in Dazed and Confused.
Customer Reviews:
Great for Fans.......2006-11-17
I enjoyed this book because the photographs were clear . I also loved the details behind the songs. It makes listening to the music more intimate because you know the stories behind them. Well worth the price.
story behind the music.......2006-07-03
excellent read for any led zep fan. chris welch has done an
excellent job. this is a must for your musical library.
It all depends..........2005-11-29
I was highly excited when i bought this book. I am a very obsessed Led Zeppelin fan and was looking forward to reading it after listening endlessly to all of their songs. If you are just starting with Zeppelin its a great book to read, but if you a huge long time fan, than i dont recommend that you buy it. I already knew most of the stuff they said and the author lacks in explaining the actual meaning of the songs. The 'analysis' is too short. Ramble On only has one paragraph!! I was disappointed...the author is telling me some lyrics and some instruments that are used..its purely not enough..you can learn more by going on the message boards at www.Led-Zeppelin.com..and trust me i have...
Mediocre.......2005-02-16
Tends to "describe" or give his opinion about the songs rather than telling the story behind them. I can listen to the songs - I don't need to be told how great they are or how Plant's voice sounds on a particular number.
A disappointment.
Led Zeppelin.......2004-11-02
Led Zeppelin Dazed And Confused is a great guide to Led Zeppelin's songs. Its has all the stories behind the songs!
It also has great pictures of Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Boham, and John Paul Jones on mainly every page! I think this book will appeal to all Led Zeppelin fans!
Book Description
America, 1976. It's the last day of school in a small Texas town; the eighth-graders are getting their first taste of adolescence-a glimpse at high school. Frisbees hang in the air above Led Zeppelin music; the boys in their iron-on transfer T-shirts pop beers, while the teenage Cher clones strap on their cork wedgies and flirt. It's a moment frozen in time, a shift from one era to another. It is dazed and confused.
Customer Reviews:
Three viewings of "Dazed and Confused" not enough? This book is for you!.......2006-08-29
Anyone born between 1955 and 1970 HAS GOT TO SEE Dazed and Confused.
And this book adds to the fun. Plenty of real live Mad Magazine stuff, real live ads from the time period, with a bunch of side splittingly funny made up stuff based on the characters from DAC. Enjoyed the heck out of this book. Just wish it was longer so my trip through memory lane could go on another hour or so.
Great stuff! Where's Wooderson today, by the way?
JUST AWESOME - I LOVE THIS BOOK!.......2004-06-07
It was in a fit of Dazed And Confused mania that I purchased Richard Linklater's tie-in book to his cult classic 70s adolescence movie several years ago. At the time I basically flipped through the book and then put it aside. Until earlier today when I was going through a stack of old college texts I was planning on getting rid of and wonder of wonders came across this one mixed in among them for some reason. So I decided to take a refresher course in 70s stoner adolescence and then offer up my take on it.
What I especially liked about Dazed And Confused the movie was the way Linklater managed to sneak in some profound truths about life amidst the nostalgia. In the book, the most profound and honest part is Linklater's introduction where he writes: "Let's face it, no matter where you live no matter at what time high school is a light prison sentence to be served. Once paroled, you don't look back".
From that point on, any social observation basically goes out the window as we are treated to a crash course in all things 70s as well as stuff related to the movie itself. All of the major characters are profiled and there are excerpts of a yearbook page from the high school they attend. Although it might seem redundant to most people, die hard fans of the film should enjoy it. Pick up a copy! Also recommended -------> The Losers Club by Richard Perez, an offbeat small press novel that you will truly dig. Like far out!
Nothing Confusing Here: Fun Book.......2001-03-22
Dazed & Confused is a classic movie about the day in the life of high schoolers in a small Texas town on last day of school in 1976. This book that is a companion to the movie is just like the movie itself: funny. Designed as part high school yearbook, part 70's era teen magazine, it is a nostalgia filled, quick and enjoyable read. There are tons of pictures (the yearbook pictures of the cast are great) and everyone of the major cast member contributes an "article" to the book. If you are a fan of the movie, then this book is a must for your collection.
Great Book is Extension of Great Movie.......2000-07-18
ATENTION ALL D&C FANS: IF YOU DO NOT GO OUT AND GET THIS BOOK RIGHT NOW, YOU WILL NEVER KNOW THE WHOLE STORY! This book has everything, from Clint's favorite colored muscle T-shirt to Benny's beer limit. It is definantly a must for not only Dazed fans, but to any fans of the seventies!
MUST HAVE FOR ANY "DAZED AND CONFUSED" FAN........2000-06-05
Let me just start by saying that I just bought this book no more than an hour ago. As soon as I got home I picked it up and didn't put it down forr the next hour. As a huge "Dazed and Confused" fan, I was extremely happy when I saw that there was a book to go along with the movie. But the book is not just about the movie. It starts out with a great introduction by the director and writer Richard Linklater. In this intro he explains the time period, the pros and cons of the 70's, and where the idea for the movie came from. Also in the book are synopsis's of all the basic charactar (the best is Clints, the guy who beats up the nerd). This book doesn't just follow along with the movie, it is an explanation of the 1970's, I enjoyed it considering I wasn't alive yet. So if you are a hardcore fan of "Dazed and Confused" or a collector of 70's memorobilia, than you need this book.

The book is double printed. First 60 pages are repeated. The book is of no value as the humor is drivle and all advice is tounge in cheek. There is no real value of this book and I feel that the other similar titles will be the same.

A Little Slow.......2005-12-25
This book took me a while to get into. It was a little slow for my liking. I reall tried to give it a chance. Just couldnt get into it. Author not to have any others in his catalog.
EXCELLENT BOOK!!!.......2003-01-10
This book is EXCELLENT!!!
Reading this book took me back to the days when I was in college.(Thanks Troy for putting Lamar University in your book.) I enjoyed the book because Martin allowed readers to really see the changes "Tony" made during his transition from college to the "real world". Anyone who has gone to college can relate to the main character and the decisions made to set a foundation for their life as a full-fledged adult. Another reason I enjoyed the book was the setting. Being able to recognize the places "Tony" visited will also draw readers into the story allowing them to visualize the events as seen through the eyes of the author.
Troy Martin is a very talented author and I am looking forward to reading future books because I KNOW they will be great.

This book gives an excellent account of a young african american's journey into the halls of corporate america! I enjoyed every page in the book! I look forward to more publications from this author! Keep up the good work FRAT!
Right on the Money!!.......2002-08-10
I just wanted to say that I just finished reading Dazed and Confused: Surviving Life in the Game. I thourghly enjoyed the book. I started reading the book on wednesday and I finished it on friday. I am a college student so I was able to identify with what he was talking about. I thought the book was EXCELLENT!!! I've already recommended it to everyone that I come in contact with. During the last few chapters I had to have a kleenex close by. I couldn't hold back the tears from all that was unfolding! I haven't read a book this good in a very long time. I'm from Houston so it was like I could picture the whole story right before my eyes. I was able to relate to the different places and restaurants he discussed. The book was great!!! I must admit though I had a hard time locating it in the city of Houston. I was on a journey to get it a particular day at a bookstore that I had called the day before to make sure they had it in stock because I was coming from a long way. I get to this bookstore the very next day and they sold it the same day I called. Needless to say I was very disappointed! I had come all that way to get the book and it was gone. On my way back home I called another book store that I remembered and they happened to have it. I had them hold me a copy and I quickly detoured to the bookstore to buy the book. I was so happy! I didn't want to have to order it because I wanted it NOW! It is a great book! You won't be disappointed!
Chef Wayne's review.......2002-07-02
After reading the first few chapters of Dazed & Confused, I found myself looking forward to the next chapter. I went from reading when I got off work, to taking the book with me so I could read in between what ever it was I was cooking. A few times I just did catch my food from being at the point of no return. Most men can relate to what Troy writes in his book, be it from a college stand point or in my case, a military stand point. the book is so interesting that you sometimes want to jump ahead to find out what happened without reading up to that point. This was a change from the normal reading I do. But it was a welcome change. I truly enjoyed this book and I feel anyone who reads it will enjoy it also. Troy, Two thumbs up my man. Keep up the outstanding work.
Book Description
Warmonger, womanizer, and autocrat, Louis XIV may also have been history’s most fanatical gardener. At Versailles, twelve miles outside Paris, France’s self-styled “Sun King” created not only Europe’s most lavish palace, but, beginning in 1661, the most extensive gardens the Western world has ever seen. Assisting Louis in this enterprise was the low-born gardener André Le Nôtre, whose character and temperament were as different from those of his sovereign as it is possible to conceive. Where Louis was ruthless and relentlessly driven, Le Nôtre was down to earth, witty and amiable – and also phenomenally talented. While Louis could strike fear into the highest in the land with just a look, Le Nôtre enjoyed the king’s trust and friendship for more than 40 years. In this lavishly illustrated book, Ian Thompson tells more comprehensively than ever before the intertwined stories of an extraordinary garden and an extraordinary friendship.
Customer Reviews:
LOUIS' EDEN.......2006-11-08
Louis XIV was fortunite in his association with the great Le Notre or I should say he was lucky to have the power of the devine right monarch, so he could steal him from Fouquet and Vieux le Vicomte to work on his Vallala, Versailles. Louis was king incarnate, he was the state, period, the epitome, the very definition of the devine, absolute monarch, and he knew exactly what he wanted and with the genius of Le Notre he created a garden that was and to this day still is the envey of the world. This book does a fine job of capturing Le Notre's gardens at Versailles at their best. The text is enlightening and the images are well conceived. If you have any interest in Versailles or French Formal Gradens, the I highly recommend this book.

3 more volumns?.......2005-11-29
I always wondered if there were more then 9 volumns, did I understand correctly that there are 3 more volumns which were never translated into English???? Also, is the Rd. to Versaille a book which is not in the series of 1-9? At one point someone reviewd it as book 2? Please email me at quetin@gmail.com
Brilliant.......2001-07-27
In the second book of the Angelique series, following the death of her husband Joffrey de Peyrac, Angelique is in the Parsian underworld, at the Court of Miracles. A fascinating glimpse into a sordid world of beggers and thieves, this is a much darker, but maybe even more brilliant book than The Marquise of Angels. Wonderful, fascinating book, more of an on the edge of your seat suspence thriller than the previous book. Alot of great, heartbreaking emotional scenes, and also many happy ones. A fantastic book.
Amongst the best historical fiction.......2001-07-08
The Angelique series written by Anne and Serge Golon will rate amongst your favourite books (if you can get hold of these rare books). I started with paperback versions, but have since started collecting the hardcovers and have recently acquired the last hardcover I needed to complete my collection. The last 3 books in the series have not been translated in to English yet and there are stories of people learning French as a language just to read the last 3 books in this series. It is beautifully written and set in the period of the reign of the Sun King in France. The authors have done their research and I have been fascinated at the accuracy of the authors' description of historical characters in their books. Highly recommended if you like historical fiction or if you enjoy any story with REAL heroism!
Historically accurate, wonderful adventure, romance.......1999-08-13
Anyone who reads about Angelique will keep the book always. I've kept my volunes for years. I wish I had them all in hard back. The book is very hard to put down. I've read it over and over. Great..
Historically accurate & Wonderful Story-Great Book.......1999-08-13
Anyone who reads Angelique will always say it was wonderful. The romance, adventure, history and suspence were one of a kind. I only wish it was available in reprint so we could have the whole set in our library. Please inform us about the book and author.

Book Description
This comprehensive volume documents for the first time twenty-one châteaux and pavilions commissioned by Louis XIV, France's great builder-king. These royal buildings, and over forty architectural ornaments enriching their gardens, are illustrated in breathtaking watercolors by authors Andrew Zega and Bernd H. Dams. Depicted are several of the most influential structures in all of Western architecture, such as the palace of Versailles and the magnificent lost complex at Marly, which contemporaries deemed a veritable "Paradise on Earth." The authors give full attention to unrealized projects and depict completed structures not as they stand today, if indeed they stand at all, but as they were originally designed by the leading architects of the day.
Meticulously prepared over many years, Palaces of the Sun King presents a wealth of historically accurate watercolor illustrations, complemented by a sophisticated narrative, that together offer a fundamental reappraisal of the architecture of the reign of Louis XIV. Modern academics have clarified the function of the political and social construct of the Sun King, but the nature and extent of the parallel architectural revolution which Louis XIV engendered have remained largely unquestioned out of veneration for a national treasure. Time, too, has seen the disappearance or destruction of many of the châteaux and architectural designs commissioned by the king, and in deciding to recreate lost buildings and unexecuted designs, the authors open new realms of discovery for a subject heretofore deemed thoroughly understood. Here, then, the Sun King's masterworks are reconsidered and deconstructed, providing a work of groundbreaking investigation that will both fascinate and inform.
Customer Reviews:
ONLY THE SUN KING COULD AFFORD THIS BOOK.......2006-10-20
This book is a huge disappointment. When i picked it up at border's i assumed at that price it would be spectacular..it is not..it's an odd book with usual images and hard to follow text. I had wanted to see the book because you rarely hear anything about Marly, the kings favorite palace, if Louis liked you, he would invite you to Marly, it was spectacular and you do get a feel for it in this book, but not enough to pay this staggering price. It's a mediocre book, with a shocking sticker price...just buy the Montclos book on Versailles, now that's a GREAT book and well worth it's price.
Excellent overview of the many structures of Louis XIV!.......2004-08-14
This book covers many structures, commissioned by Louis XIV, that were either built or were designed but not executed. The pictures that the authors did themselves are spetacular! The text is also above average. I however must warn you it is not worth $135.00 which is the book's retail price. The book's length was a huge dissapointment. It is only 208 pages (not 224 as they say in the book description) which includes the table of contents, index, bibliography, etc. The authors did not fill the pages with as many illustrations and text as I would've liked. If I had it to do over again would not pay the retail price for this book. I would buy a used one instead. Overall though, despite its length, the book does provide the reader with an in-depth look at the exquisite architecture of the Sun King.
Customer Reviews:
Classic Copy.......2007-06-08
If you are remotely interested in the social dealings of France in the seventeenth century, then this a great book to buy. Not only does it cover all of Louis' mistresses, illegitimate children, unloved wife, and building escapades but also his own development as a king. Great for any person interested in societies of past, and how people thought.
