One of the best books of this series........2006-06-30
The Give Yourself Goosebumps gamebook series are usually very fun and enjoyable to read. This book however, is no different. It is a great book that involves a really strange plot, but in a good way. This book is more fun than some of the other books in the series. Some of the situations can be very exciting and can bring forth suspense. If you are new to the Give Yourself Goosebump series I recommend buying this book first. You have my guarantee that you will absolutely love it.

Typical Choose Your Own Adventure.......2004-08-19
A story of both shrinking and growing, depending on what "magic" item you happen to eat. If you shrink you fight and sometimes end up finding yourself stuck in a giant world. If you grow, you run and may just get stuck in a tiny world. Strangely, while this story does explain the problem of growing or shrinking too large, there are no possibilities of you getting eaten. I think that pictures would help the story but that isn't something that you get to see in this series.
never eat pennut butter.......2003-02-07
I like this book because it was scary. The genre is fiction[Erika Barajas]
Wow!.......2002-01-13
Well this is a classic! Your Hungary so you can either eat purple slime or cake. That is grow or shrink. I love shrinking because im 6ft 2" and everyone kinda makes fun of me. Anyway either grow and run or shrink and fight you decide!
TOTALLY COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL.......1999-09-26
Purple peanut butter is an excellent book!!!!!!! R.L. Stine has done some EXCELLENT work. But be careful which path you choose. If you choose the purple peanut Nora might be bigger than you ,but if you choose the cake, you could end up getting too big for your boots. Buy this book and have hours of fun!

This is a wonderful book!.......2006-01-11
Clarence really has it all. He's a "wee" pig with a nice apartment in the city. And he is fortunate enough to take a vacation. He's excitedly boarding a bus for a ranch out west. Clarence is even excited about the bus ride.
Things look pretty gloomy when Clarence arrives at the ranch. He's too late for dinner, he's forgotten his favorite pillow, and there isn't a familiar face in sight.
Life is brighter when the next morning Clarence meets Smoky, a large purple horse. They become fast friends and partake in simple adventures together. But when Smoky is no longer needed at the ranch, Clarence fears he'll never see his friend again. Clarence must figure out a way to keep his friend with him. Will he?
Clarence has pluck! And his sense of adventure is wonderfully refreshing. The delightful illustrations add so much to this lovely story of friendship and "going the extra mile" to stay together.
I found myself chuckling numerous times when I looked at the pictures of Clarence packing, having snacks on the bus and line dancing with Smoky. But my favorite is the last illustration in the book as it represents love and friendship.
Armchair Interviews says: Children will enjoy Clarence and Smoky's adventures and we suspect their parents and grandparents will also.
Darling book about friendship!.......2002-10-15
One of our teaching assistants came to me and begged for this title to be added to the library collection. After checking the book out online, I ordered it. To my delight, it arrived in my book order, and I immediately read it to my 2nd graders in library. We all fell in love with Clarence and Smoky. Both characters are well written and delighfully drawn. The simplistic storyline can easily be read by beginning readers. This is a must for every personal collection!
A Special Tale of Love and Friendship............2001-12-12
Clarence, a city dwelling little pig, sets out on his first big vacation to a dude ranch, out west. After a long and interesting bus ride, he arrives and meets Smoky, a very large and friendly purple horse who introduces him to all the pleasures of western ways. Smoky takes him on long rides through the mountains and canyons, teaches Clarence to play cards with the boys, line dance, and perform on the washtub in a cowboy band. They eat, nap, and even read stories together. It's a wonderful week. But as his vacation comes to an end, Smoky tells Clarence he's getting too old to work on the ranch anymore, and is going to be sold. Best friends are hard to come by, and Clarence can't stand the thought of never seeing his favorite horse again. So he uses all his bus money to buy Smoky, and together they begin the long ride back to the city. It may take years, but as long as they're together, they have all the time in the world..... Jean Ekman Adams has written a delightful story with a gentle message about loyalty, compassion, and friendship, that won't be lost on young readers. Her simple and engaging text, with its satisfying, happily ever after ending, is beautifully enhanced by her charming, bold, and vibrant illustrations, full of endearing ranch characters, and subtle, humorous detail. Perfect for youngsters 3-7, Clarence Goes Out West And Meets A Purple Horse, is a sweet and entertaining, feel good story, that is sure to put a smile on everyone's face. This soon-to-be classic, is a picture book youngsters will beg to read again and again.
Fun life lessons.......2001-05-08
Not only does my daughter thoroughly enjoy Clarence & Smoky & the colorful illustrations, but I like the idea that she's getting fun lessons on compassion, friendship & priorities. Having lived in the big city & now finding myself in "the West," I truly enjoy this book myself. (Or perhaps it's my similar tendencies to pack my favorite snacks & not enough clothes when I travel...)This is one of the few books I don't mind reading 4 times before bed!
Loved it, Loved it, Loved it.......2001-01-19
I can't tell you how much I enjoyed Gene Adams book. After working on dude ranches for 10 years and I can relate. I think children will will love Clarence and Smokey, and have fun going on adventures with them. I hope there will be more to come from Gene, Clarence and Smokey.

This book has helped my daughter understand and retain the math presented to her in 5th grade. I have purchased one for review over the summer and for future reference for her.
As a math person.......2005-09-02
My mother is a teacher and has used these books in her class. Since I graduated from college with a Mathematics degree my mother likes to use me as a reference when she has questions. After using/reading these books I find them to excellent math books. These books are elegently written and expose children to math in a way that I never saw until I took classes in college. I guess what I am saying is that these books are fantastic compared to programs that I was raised on. I only wish I had a program like this when I was a child.

The Mystery of the Purple Pool.......2002-12-21
Grandfather takes the Alden children to New York City, where they find excitement right in their hotel when someone switches the salt and sugar in the coffee shop, steals from the guests, and dyes the swimming pool purple. Why would someone do this. Te Boxcar children are going to get to the bottom of this.
Best of the Boxcars.......2000-02-15
This book was one of the best Boxcar children books that there is. It was well written and really suprised me with the way that it turned out. If you are looking for a good kids mytery book, this is the one to choose.
Boxcar Children--blaarghh.......1997-12-22
What an insult to the world of children's literature!! It already tells you something that on most of the Boxcar Children books, it doesn't even tell you the author, merely saying "Series created by Gertrude Chandler Warren." The characters are flat and inane, the plot is one-dimensional and predictable but still completely outlandish (I mean, finding out who put purple ink in the pool? come on!). I could go on and on about these ROTTEN books, but now all I'm going to say is...someday you'll be sorry if you give your children these books to read instead of the beautiful, humoristic, thought-provoking and stimulating books that intelligent and thoughtful people have written for children.

Customer Reviews:
One of the most informative books on fashion........2005-04-19
I have read several books on fashion in the past few months and find this to be one of the best. The reason is that it contains lots of information on the business of fashion that I have not seen in any other of the perhaps dozen books I have read recently. I'm afraid that I have to agree with the many reviewers that are not impressed with the ensembles that the author is wearing on the cover of her book. However, this doesn't really affect the information in the book. The author is telling you how to get what you want, not necessarily how to get what she wants. This woman is a real professional and her book is full of a ton of information and practical advice. This book does not include avice on how to dress for your particular body type, information that is available in other books.
Great for wealthy matrons.......2004-02-16
This book contains the absolute best advice if you look like Suzy, think like Suzy, and have Suzy's enormous budget for clothing. Unfortunately, her personal style is much too matronly for me, and I'm 47 years old. She allows her personal -- and rather unfortunately, dismal -- taste dictate what she masks as general advice for all. One needs to look no further than the painfully hideous photo of her on the front cover, wearing gigantic pearls that threaten to engulf her head, which is in desperate need of an updated haircut.
Some of her advice is just plain bad. A navy suit for everyone? She forgets that not everyone has her skin and hair color nor has a need to dress in ultra-conservative, business attire. No black or gold purse for evening? That's fine if you have an unlimited budget to buy one of her $1,000 bargain purses in different colors to match all of your outfits. If you don't buy different colors, then you'll forever be stuck as the woman with the purple, pink, or whatever-color-you-choose purse. She may not personally like black, but it is indisputably one of the chicest and most sophisticated colors. Keep in mind that the advice on the book is being dispensed by the person parading in the insipid outfits on the back cover.
Although she does give a good insight behind the doors of the retail fashion industry, one still needs an annual multi-thousand dollar budget to even begin to take her advice. She also assumes that the reader, besides being incredibly wealthy, needs to dress in an ultra-conservative manner which allows little room for femininity or personal style. Come to think of it, I think Suzy would be the perfect fashion consultant for Queen Elizabeth of England - their styles are almost identical. My mother is nearly 70 years old and wouldn't be caught dead in some of the elderly fashions that the author is wearing. It is remarkable that anyone could take the advice on style in this book seriously.
I would, however, recommend this book to anyone whose idea of fashion includes adding color to a burlap bag. But then again, Suzy's idea of wearing huge fake flowers and baseball-sized pearls may or may not be an improvement. The target audience for this book is extremely limited and should be noted.
I Loved this Book!.......2003-11-05
I loved this Book! There were no glossy pictures of the latest fashions but that turned out to be a good thing because the advice becomes timeless. I now know how to tell a quality item from a cheap item and have been able to go into stores and disregard a lable and discern an item of true quality from an item poorly made. This alone was worth its weight in gold. I am an avid thrift store shopper and cannot believe the beautiful items I have found there. Yesterday I pulled an Armani dress out of a jumble of clothing merely because I examined the stitching and fabric and knew I had a quality item. The lable was the last thing I looked at. However, it was no surprise that it turned out to be an Armani because the structure of the garment told me it was quality first. My copy is quickly becoming dog eared. If you do not have unlimited funds to spend on clothing do yourself a favor and buy this book so you can make the most of the money you do have available.
A good start to wardrobe basics.......2003-06-19
This is a good basic start up guide to women who need help in refining their wardrobe, learn about fabrics, etc. The author shares her personal ideas on what to buy and when. Included in this book are tips on:
**style
**retail secrets
**wardrobe building
**basics
**accessories
**trends
Her suggestions are a little impractical for those not in a business environment (one of her tips is to buy 1 suit per season). She bases her wardrobe on jackets/blazers and suits/skirts. This may not be practical for the younger, more casual urban girl. But for those wanting to look more polished and put together, this book can give you a good start.
Worth a quick read - but don't buy it.......2003-02-22
Do read the first half which is about the working of the fashion/ clothing/footwear industries - it'll help you decide what to make of anything full price at a fancy department store. The book also has sound advise on how to estimate what you should really be paying for things at retailers, discounters, outlets, etc
Skip the part where she gives wardrobe advice though - complete waste of time for anyone who cannot afford $ 1000 handbags !
