Book Description
Fear has never been so close.…
New York Times bestselling author Kay Hooper returns with a relentless thriller that brings her readers face-to-face with fear itself. In this terrifying new novel, a psychic special agent finds herself caught up in a tangled web of secrets, lies . . . and evil.
Riley Crane woke up fully dressed, a gun under her pillow, and covered in blood. Even more frightening, she didn’t remember what happened the night before. In fact, she barely remembered the previous three weeks.
An ex—army officer, now a federal agent assigned to the Special Crimes Unit, Riley was a chameleon–a clairvoyant who could blend in with her surroundings, be anyone or anything she chose to be. The SCU’s expert on the occult, she’d been sent to the beachfront cottage on Opal Island by her enigmatic chief, Noah Bishop, to investigate reports of dangerous occult activity.
But that was three weeks ago. Now she’s awoken to discover that she’s got a sexy new man in her life and an unreliable memory, and that the clairvoyant abilities she’s always depended on to protect her are MIA. Worse yet, with SCU resources stretched thinner than ever before, Riley is alone and without backup, feeling her way through a deadly game of blindman’s buff, where no one around her is quite who or what they seem. And a bizarre murder is only the first jarring reminder of how high the stakes really are.
Bishop wants Riley off the case. So does powerful local D.A. Ash Prescott. Both her old retired army buddy Gordon Skinner and Sheriff Jake Ballard believe she can catch a vicious killer. But one of these four men knows exactly what’s going on in this coastal community, and that’s knowledge Riley desperately needs. For what Riley can’t remember is more than enough to cost her her life. This time evil isn’t just closer than she thinks–it’s already there.

eh.......2007-09-20
while I have read almost all of the bishop series i have recently felt that they started to drag. why is it in every book the main character with these special abilities either cant use the abilities bc they mysteriously disappear or the powers are so vague they arent helpful. please once i would like one of the characters to actually live up to the abilities that they claim are so strong.
So....Boring...........2007-09-13
Im a gonna be short and sweet here. I was expecting a lot from this paranormal book about a psychic heroine - i was disappointed.very much so. There is not much romance - so I wouldnt call it a romantic thriller. Didnt give me any thrills at all either. I skimmed through the pages I was soo uninterested. I couldnt connect with the heroine which to me didn't seem likable at all. Also, unfortunately, the book is treated exclusively on the heroine's point of view. I'm sure this is done so as to add to the "suspence" but for me this was a major drawback because I prefer to read also the hero's point of view (well actually I wouldnt go that far as to say there is a hero in this novel - its almost exclusively on Riley and that's it).
I expected something like Dream Man by Linda Howard - an autstanding romantic suspence about a woman who is psychic -its way hotter than this one and contains much more thrills.
and the ending? BORING!
WOW!.......2007-09-10
This is the first Kay Hooper book I have ever read and I must say, even though other reviewers thought it wasn't one of her better books, I have a whole lot to look forward to. This book was fantastic. I loved the characters, the plot line was suspenseful and chilling. I can't wait to read more from this author.
Missing memories.......2007-08-30
I have to admit that this is one of my big fears, that someday I'll wake up and my memories will be missing. So there was quite a powerful resonance with this character when that's exactly what happened to her.
To add to her problems her normally reliable paranormal powers are fuzzy too, adding to her confusion and disorentiation. She's missing three weeks of her life, the three weeks since she arrived at the beach cottage to rest and reassure a friend that the stories of occult goings-on were nothing to worry about.
What's worse is that she's woken up covered in blood. There's a dead body in the area and she's not sure how she's involved but it's opened up old wounds.
It's fun, light, interesting and I enjoyed it, it did keep me guessing right up to the end as to what was going on and kept me glued to the pages, wanting to know how it was going to resolve and would she recover her memory. I'm a fan of psychic detective stories and really enjoyed this series. Kay Hooper continues to keep me as an avid fan.
Sleeping with Fear Audio book.......2007-07-23
This was a really good book. I have been keeping up with all of Kay hooper's books that involve Noah Bishop and his unit and this book was not a disappointment.

Book Description
Hunting Fear:
Lucas Jordan, a key agent and profiler in Noah Bishop's Special Crimes Unit, has an extraordinary skill: he locates missing people. Now Jordan has come to Clayton County, North Carolina, where the latest in a string of kidnapping victims has turned up dead. Complicating the situation is the presence - and predictions - of someone who's even more of an outsider than Jordan himself: carnival psychic Samantha Burke, a woman out of his own haunted past.
Chill of Fear:
FBI agent Quentin Hayes always knew he had an unusual talent, even before he was recruited by Noah Bishop for the controversial Special Crimes Unit. But for twenty years he's been haunted by a heartbreaking unsolved murder that took place at The Lodge, a secluded Victorian-era resort in Tennessee. Now he's returned one final time, determined to put the mystery to rest.
Sleeping with Fear:

Great piano (guitar/vocal) songbook.......2006-10-31
Although the back cover states "Easy-to-play arrangements for piano, guitar and voice" this is not at all a beginners book.
Some songs are pretty easy, but overall the level is moderate to pretty advanced. There is quite a variety of "genre" as well I think. Some nice mellow almost ballad like songs, some bluesy tunes, some jazz, a little rock.
I will scan the back cover of the book and upload the image ( if I can ) so everyone can see what songs are included.

Step-by-Step Relief Carving: Mastering the Use of Light and Perspective in Woodcarving.......2007-09-20
This book is a GREAT place to start learning about relief carvings. This is a step by step manual on how to make the MOST out of a piece of wood. Very detailed, complete, right down to the last detail of the carving. Want to learn relief carving?...GET THIS BOOK!! A+++++
just one?.......2007-02-12
While this book does go into some detail it only encapsulates one real relief carving. There are many examples from which the authors could have chosen but they selected one, extremely complex example from which to work. A more graduated lesson might have been in order to accommodate a more realistic learning curve.
Relief Carving Tips.......2006-03-13
I feel this book is well worth its cost. As an inexperienced carver I was looking for some detailed hints that would improve my work. Mr. Schroeder has some valuable advice that we should all implement when creating a masterpiece. This book is geared to the relief carver.
Do really want to know how to make great reliefs?.......2005-10-13
This book is exactly what its title says. If you are new to relief carving, you might think that realistic relief carving involves simply in the carving half round. But this approach will not be satisfactory. This book shows to how even very shallow relief can be amazingly realistic if proper perspective is used. The book has several simple projects in the beginning to help you master the basic principles. Then you can carve a very nice nautical scene which is detailed step by step with ample photos. He uses both standard wood carver's hand tools such as gouges and also power tools including a router and a dremel. I rated this a 5 because of the efective way the content is organized and the detail provided.
Great book for beginners.......2005-08-28
I haven't yet purchased this book - but had a chance to take a good long look at it at bookstore.
I have not yet applied this book yet - b/c I'm still evaluating which carving set I want to invest in - but this book looks great for a beginner. It focuses on one or 2 projects with great detail graphically and verbally. It covers basics like transferring design that you don't see in alot of carving books - and walks you through each step w/o leaving details out. It assumes you're a beginner and I look forward to using this book as one of my first purchases when I decide when / what took set to purchase.
I didn't give it 5 stars - b/c I haven't used it - but my gut says I may be upgrading my rating after applying the info to some wood and tools

Creating your own candles allows for a wide range of creative expression. Molding, dipping, rolling, carving, twisting, scenting, decorating-all these methods yield unique handmade candles, and all are nicely explored in this well-illustrated guide. A thorough introduction to the various techniques sets the stage for dozens of projects, from molded shapes concealing hidden treasures or stately pillars collaged with found objects to elegantly decoupaged tapers or whimsical candles mimicking ice cream sundaes. Many projects are devoted to decorating candle containers, so in addition to showing beginners how to delve into the field and providing more experienced crafters with new ideas, the book also offers great designs for unleashing your creativity on the candleholder, even if you never make a single candle from scratch. --Amy Handy

Good but not great.......2001-05-18
This book covers the basics in candlemaking, what you'll need, wick types, wax types, pouring temps, which is very informative but it lacks in the candle varieties. It seems to focus more on candle decorating. I was looking for tips on making chunk, layered and ice candles to name a few. There also isn't any information on Gel wax or soy wax. There was some helpful information in here, but overall it wasn't what I was looking for in a candle book.
Well, I DID come back to order it....*grin*.......2000-10-17
First impression....all I can say is I guess my dog likes it! I woke up this morning to find the pages of this book strewn all over my yard. What was left of it did seem very informative and useful, so I came back to reorder it. Maybe this time I'll get to see the whole book. LOL
I think this is a great book for beginners........1999-09-05
The information is very useful, detailed, and well presented

Full of fun ideas!.......2006-08-20
I am an elementary teacher and I am not very creative. This is an excellent source of new and different ideas that can be used with stuents in 1st-6th. (you may be able to alter to use with lower or higer grades) Some of the projects require some specialized tools, but most use everyday items. Great purchase!

The authors of this lovely addition to the Weekend Crafter series believe that glass etching is the ultimate simplicity-seeker's craft, a process that achieves beauty through the art of removal. In other words, by applying one of the new, safe etching creams or liquids over a masked-out pattern to take away part of the glass surface, even beginners can create beautiful pieces that successfully mimic the look of old-fashioned glass etchings--the kind that generally require harmful chemicals or expensive blasting equipment. With complete pattern templates and excellent step-by-step instructions (each accompanied by an individual how-to photo), the book offers 20 projects ranging from glasses, bottles, canisters, and drawer pulls to a punch bowl set, table, and room divider. A gallery of artist-created pieces provides further inspiration. --Amy Handy

Way over my head!.......2007-09-04
This book didn't peak my interest in Shade making.....I was hoping to find a simple wood plan and all the ones I liked seemed way over my skill level.
What a wonderful surprise!.......2007-08-24
I work in both wood and metals and was expecting a basic volume of metalsmithing techniques. To my surprise, this book can be used in metalsmithing (example: dimensional layout drawings awayla), but it focuses on the use of colored paper (instead of mica or stained glass) and cardboard (instead of metals) Although it explores a medium I ordinarily use to design and make mock-ups, the drawings can easily be used in the metal shop using solder or riviting as a fastener instead of glue and tape and mica or glass in the place of paper.
Please note: These are vintage lighting designs put together by Popular Mechanics during the Arts & Crafts era and I would recommend it to anyone interested in this period of design and technique. Although some of the designs are a little 'dumpy', it would take little time or effort to change them to your liking. This book is a steal!
good book if you have a base in wood working.......2006-02-01
I like this book as reference for lamps in the arts and craft style however if you are looking for lots of step by step instructions you are out of luck. if you are looking for a good reference book and can visualise a project based on a few black and white drawing and some instruction then this book is for you.
Book Description
Every December, it?s harder and harder to keep up with the Clauses. Consider the Wills home in Mendota Falls, Minnesota, where more than 150 candy canes light up the exterior of the house. Or Bull Run Park in Centerville, Virginia, which features 200 over-the-top holiday lights displays stretching over two miles. And down in Marble Falls, Texas, just about every house in town is a holiday lights extravaganza (including the place with a twirling lariat that spells out ?MERRY TEXMAS Y?ALL?) Okay, so maybe some holiday light shows get a little out of hand, but you have to appreciate the time, work, and effort (not to mention expense) that goes into installing 600,000 bulbs over a 50,000-square-foot property (as in the case of the Clot family of Pinecrest, Florida). And don?t forget the imagination and technical wizardry of homeowners who have created a school of dancing fish wearing Santa hats, or a garden of computer-controlled poinsettias that appear to grow out of the ground and blossom in glorious color, or illuminated toy trains that run on 700 feet of track.
HOLIDAY LIGHTS! is a high-wattage celebration of the wildest and most wonderful examples of a modern tradition. The 250 full-color photographs are spectacular, but don?t stop at the pictures. The accompanying essays reveal the titanic amount of hard work and dedication required to install these displays.
Make this Christmas one your family will remember forever by knitting Christmas stockings for the entire clan. The 19 fun, simple-to-follow patterns presented here make it easy for even first-time knitters to create beautiful stockings ? not to mention delightful knit and felt ornaments for the Christmas tree.
And Knit Christmas Stockings! is not only fun and easy to use, it?s also economical. With single-pattern prices from $3.50 to $9, a knitter buying 19 patterns could spend over $150! But with Knit Christmas Stockings! knitters get 19 great patterns for just $14.95.As with all the books in Storey?s die-cut Knit series, this book is written with the first-time knitter in mind. All knitting instructions are in plain English ? no esoteric terms or indecipherable abbreviations. And if a project calls for an unusual technique, the instructions are accompanied by detailed illustrations of the process.

not worth the cost!.......2007-02-15
I was wanting advice and info on where to buy lights and stuff...this book did not have it! save your money!
DAZZLING AND EYE POPPING.......2004-11-17
Someone said the author belittled people in the book by calling them obsessive on the way they decorate their homes. I hate to say but the author is right. But not in a bad way. Author David Seldman provides some wonderful instructional tips and the photography is magnificent. I've looked at this book over and over again to get ideas for my own front yard.
Yes, you have to be a little obsessed when it comes to decking out your home with so many thousands of lights that the electric meter whizzes around like a top out of control. I know people like this...they begin their planning for their outdoor displays in the early fall, long before Halloween...even drawing layouts of various display items will go. I used to think it was a bit crazy until I started getting into larger displays. If you don't plan in advance you'll be sure to end up with something out of wack like having cords in the wrong place or needing more outlets.
It is obsessive but it's an obsessive love of the holidays. This book has some absolutely eye-popping displays and really gives more novice decorators like myself some fantastic ideas for my own home. I'm not going to buy a computer to control eveything, but you'll be awed by some of the elaborate displays of lights and technology that some people have.
Wonderful book!
Author is insulting.......2004-05-21
I was happy to find a book about my favorite thing- Christmas lights, and ordered it right away. When I settled down to read it, I didn't like the tone the author took in his writing. Most of his verbal descriptions of the people who like to go the extra mile to beautify their homes for the holidays were offensive. He called them kooky or nuts and belittled their efforts by making everyone sound "quirky" or "obsessive". It was obvious that he felt that lighting your house in an original way was stupid.
I am glad that someone focused an entire book on the beauty of Christmas lights and the talented and clever people who decorate with them, but I wish someone else had written the book! Buy it for the pictures, and ignore the critical text.
For what it is - a little gem.......2003-11-26
If you want something that will make you smile and shake your head in amazement and disbelief and you love a sparkly Christmas, this book is for you. Some of the decorations are beautiful, some staggering in scope and some just so much plain fun. From the ridiculous to the sublime, you can hardly get more entertainment value from the mere ten bucks or so you will pay for this book.
Holiday Lights! Awesome!!.......2003-11-07
This book makes me want to decorate my apartment.
