Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Another great Bob Barner book.......2002-05-14

I picked up this book for almost three year old daughter because we loved Bob Barner's Fish Wish. My daughter learned so much about the ocean from that book and I thought Dem Bones would give her an introduction to the body. The book follows an old African folk song called Dem Bones. "The ankle bone is conneced to the foot bone, the foot bone is connected to the leg bone" and so on. Since my daughter is so young I just sing the song to her and point out the bones on her body as we see the corresponding ones on the skeletons in the book. If you have an older child there is much more in depth information about the bones provided on each page. That is why I love Bob barner's books so much. My daughter can follow along the simple to read stories now and when she gets older I can go over the more informative parts with her later. She has already learned a great deal from this book and she really loves it. Bob Barner really makes learning fun.

5 out of 5 stars Dem Bones.......2002-04-17

As an elementary school librarian, I used this book with my classes. We sang the song as we turned the pages. Then, at the end we laughed about the names of the bones and practiced ways of using the "real" names. 1) Go to the nurse after you skinned your knee on the playground and ask for a bandaid to put on your patella; 2) You stub your toe and grab it and moan, "Oh, I stubbed my phlanges", etc.

Kids from K through 5th grade enjoyed this! Lots of fun.

5 out of 5 stars We love this book!.......2002-01-10

This book offers a wonderful introduction to the bone structure of the human body, even for very young children (my 3 year old daughter and niece just love this book). The use of fun, bright skeletons appeals to the reader and balances the use of scientific language in the text. Even mom and dad will learn a thing or two while reading it! You'll have your kids singing Dem Bones (the foot bone connected to the ankle bone, etc.) before you know it.

5 out of 5 stars Great Homeschool Resource.......2000-03-18

I homeschool my elementary age children and we used this book when studying our body. It is a fun book to read and the information provided about each of the bones is suitable for elementary age level.

5 out of 5 stars What a FUN way to learn about the human body!.......1998-09-20

We bought this book because my boys thought it would be "Scary". They were delighted to find out it was about the bones of the human body. My kindergartener can't wait to share it with his teacher! The text has to be simplified at times for younger children, but the scientific names are a GREAT learning experience (even for older children). Look closely-you'll see more in the illustrations each time you look at the book.

Book Description

A MOTHER ALWAYS KNOWS. . .

Novelist Tracy Eaton's mystery series is in jeopardy unless she rewrites her latest whodunit in two days. Okay, that pressure she can handle, but when her mother, the aging yet beautiful film goddess Martha Collins, becomes prime suspect in the murder of a celebrity lawyer, Tracy must save Mom from jail—if, of course, she doesn't strangle her first.

The victim, Vince Sperry, had ties to both Tracy's attorney husband, Drew, and her eccentric dad, aging Hollywood heartthrob Alex Grainger -- and both had reason to want Sperry dead. But did good ol' Mom help out? Clearly, Martha's attempts to impede Tracy's efforts at every turn only convince her long-suffering daughter that Mom has pulled a doozy this time. The clues all lead to the past, to a string of Hollywood scandals, buried secrets, old screenplays and even older grudges. But what is Martha Collins hiding? And will the truth just kill her daughter?

Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars Not My Style.......2005-02-04

I found the book a little hard to follow. When the murderer was revealed, I didn't really even remember who he/she was and didn't much care. I guess maybe the setting wasn't something I could relate to. The "smart aleck" tone turns me off too.

5 out of 5 stars Another Fun Romp With Tracy.......2003-08-05

Tracy's life is in an uproar. Her publisher has just called to say that they are dropping her mystery series unless she drastically changes her latest book, the advance for which has already been spent. The contractor shows up two days early to enlarge her closets. Her husband is panicked because he's starting the biggest case in his legal career that morning. And that's all before her mother, movie star Martha Collins, calls to say she's been arrested for murder. What a way to start a Monday.

To Tracy's frustration, Martha doesn't seem interested in proving her innocence, so, despite promises to the contrary, Tracy begins to investigate. With Uncle Philly along to help, she starts finding connections and clues that lead back 30 years. But what do they all mean? And is Martha really innocent?

As you can probably guess, this book is loads of fun with hilarious goings on all over the place. Tracy's sarcastic narration also adds to the humor level. The plot itself twists every which way. I hadn't read it for a couple years and was just as confused as the first time, even if I did remember the ultimate ending. And the characters are well developed and pull you further into the story.

Anyone looking for a fun, lighthearted mystery need look no further then this series. Buy it today for a romp on the wild and fun side of murder.

5 out of 5 stars Highly recommended!.......2001-12-12

Tracy Eaton was the author of the "Tessa Graham Mystery Series". At that point in time her house was like a pig sty (due to a small redecoration project), her publisher had a lot of changes to be made to the latest book (to be completed within three days), and her husband was stressed out from trying to make partner in the law firm. When Tracy believed it could get NO worse, her mother called!

Martha Collins had been a Hollywood goddess for what seemed like forever. Yet she still looked wonderful and made people notice her. She found Vince Sperry's body, called the police, and became the number one suspect! No matter how hard Tracy tried to clear her mother of the charges, her mother kept blocking her from doing so. Tracy kept wondering just WHAT was a daughter to do in a time like that and just WHY had she not been an orphan?

***** An excellent "who-dunnit" mystery that kept me guessing right up until the end! Tossed with bits of humor that I could not help but enjoy. This is one I definitely did not want to end! Luckily for me, this is a series of mysteries that began with "Revenge Of The Gypsy Queen" and will continue. I find myself eagerly looking forward to the next mystery in Tracy Eaton's bizarre world! Highly recommended for all mystery fans! *****

5 out of 5 stars Give your bones a laugh.......2001-02-26

What do you do when your mother is found, alone, with the bloody remains of a corpse and won't tell you or any one else what happened? Dem Bones Revenge, Kris Neri's new hilarious look at murder, mayhem, mystery and parents, mystery writer Tracy Eaton, whose mother, Martha is a famous film star accused of murder, must defend her mother. Never mind that her mother doesn't want to be defended and impedes Tracy's efforts at every turn. Add to that trying to meet a publishing deadline, dealing with a double-dealing editor, a father that can't or won't be found, and decades old scandals and you have a story that is will have you laughing out loud, squealing with delight when you solve the murder, only to turn the page and find out you are wrong and feeling very good that Martha isn't your mother. And the more Tracy digs into the past, the more she realizes that she really doesn't want to do this as she finds herself suspecting everyone from her dad to her own husband. A book that will make you very grateful for your mother's idiosyncrasies, because whatever they are, they can't be this bad.

5 out of 5 stars Unique, fresh, highly entertaining........2000-11-23

Kris Neri garnered spectacular success with her first Tracy Eaton mystery, Revenge Of The Gypsy Queen. Nominated for Anthony, Macavity and Agatha awards for Best First Novel, it was apparent that Kris Neri was an up and comer. Kris had published numerous short stories of the mystery genre in magazines and is currently at work on Tracy's next adventure: Revenge For Old Times Sake.

Picture a "Postcards from the Edge" type of relationship between mother and daughter. Mother is a combination of Elizabeth Taylor and Debbie Reynolds. Tracy is more of a combination of Calamity Jane and Princess Leia. Throw in Tracy's husband, who could be a mix of Harrison Ford and Bruce Willis in a suit. But Tracy is a struggling writer about to be cut off by her publisher. She has two days to "fix" her latest novel, and suddenly Mother is the prime suspect in the murder of Vince Sperry. Did Martha Collins commit murder, or did she just stumble into the thick of things? Did she want to save her mother? From the start, Neri sets up a hilarious dialogue between Tracy and Martha:

"Mother sidled close to my ear. `There's a telephone number everyone in Beverly Hills is talking about. You order a servant you can keep forever for little more than a few years' salary. I heard about it from Rico, my hairdresser. As I reeled away from her into a pile of skiwear, I shook my head. `Please tell me I'm adopted.'"

Needless to say, Dem Bones Revenge is a hilarious mystery because it so closely resembles the real deal between mothers and daughters. Tracy's character struggles with her desire to euphemistically murder her mother while trying to save her. Martha Collins is the stereotypical aging actress who can't quite get over her case of the pampered movie star blues. The plot pulls the reader from one near-miss to another as Tracy stubbornly peels away the layers of facade, pulls her husband Drew into the act, and saves Martha from herself.

Neri's characters are unique, fresh, and yet somehow are people we all know and love. She knows her territory, being a Southern Californian, which gives the plot a unique perspective.

A friend told me about this book and shared a tune she made up for the words. I bought a copy and my son (2) loves it. He brings it out quite often for me to read or sing to him. The illustrations are a fun change from the usual kiddie fare.

This one has great illustrations and greater lyrics. It's a natural to turn into a song, which my (3 & 2-yr old) children love to dance and sing along to. Even my husband doesn't complain when we sing it loudly in the car.

I love Halloween... this is a great book to share with little ones! It's got it all - fantastic - rhyming, graphics and is just a bit silly. I started reading it easily switched to singing. It's a evening favorite and always brings out those gut giggles - a contagious fun time for all!

Enlisting the help of Thera Majed, a beautiful paramilitary and an expert on Middle eastern relations, the team breaks up to track each link. They seek to stop anything catastrophic from happening before the President arrives in Iraq for the next round of elections. Their quarries lead Team members into an immensely complicated world of fanatical terrorists, each potentially dangerous. . . but who among them is the next to strike? Uncertain of the most imminent threat, the Team finds that they have landed in the midst of an operation headed by Israel’s famous Mossad, and are ordered to cooperate with the Israelis . . . but are the Israelis cooperating with them?
Unsure of their allies, the Team realizes that they are on the trail of two completely different attacks whose targets are thousands of miles apart. Both operations are intended to trigger a vast religious war. With the clock ticking down, can the team extinguish the spark of Armageddon?

There were at least 2 dimensions to these characters, and the plot held together, however unlikely. Nice action, and a couple of good lines: One, "I often thought of patience as a deadly sin," or something to that end. I'd read it in an airport, but not on a long flight.

2 out of 5 stars Where were all the terrorist authors in 1995 ?.......2007-09-22

Here, I think Mr. Bond was trying to help a friend, Mr De Felice to publish a book by printing his own name on the cover.
The story is not too original, the "Dumb Arab" bit has been done to death, and the last thing we need is another writer selling a story about Middle East terrorists.
I don't remember so many authors writing about terrorism when the Timothy Mc Veigh blew up a Federal building in Oklahoma City on April of 1995.

An amateur effort at best. Lary Bond again show us his "softer side" by endorsing this book.

A very disappointing Bond/Felice novel. The book moved ponderously along, trying to make sense of a very disjointed plot. Not an attention grabber, nor very fulfilling for Bond fans.

2 out of 5 stars Far below the norm for Larry Bond.......2006-03-22

Larry Bond is an excellent techno-thriller author. Just a couple of weeks ago I gave a five-star review to his "Dangerous Ground," one of the best stories of submariners I've read in years. Perhaps that's why the disappointment I feel about "Angels Of Wrath: Rirst Team" is so sharp. The book just isn't Larry Bond. (It is co-authored by Jim DeFelice.)

I dub this a Lego novel. It's like the authors wrote out a bunch of action scenes on notecards and than simply laid out a grid, like building something with Lego blocks. The result is a techno-thriller that's all fluff and no depth.

The "hero" is Bob Ferguson. Hey, let's make Bob a maverick in the CIA, someone who has major difficulties in taking orders and playing well with others, particularly his superiors. Now let's make him a "team leader" of the "First Team," a multi-departmental group that's supposed to squash threats to the United States. Hmmmmmm, what else can we do for Ferguson. Hey, what a great idea! Let's give him a possibly terminal illness and have him take pills for it once in a while!

Of course, Ferguson is ever so sophisticated. A ladies man, of course. A polylinguist. A oenophile and connoisseur of single-malt scotches. Is that enough? Not by a long shot. Ferguson's father was a legend in the CIA and Ferguson, the son, seems to have some psychological problems with that. But not to worry: every bad guy in the world seems to be frightened of Ferguson, who by the way, is also a master of disguise.

In sum, Bob Ferguson is a total caricature, not even as believable as a comic book hero.

Take this joke of a character and put him into a circus that is supposed to be a plot. First we have the extremist religious cult that is trying to foment a major terrorist attack in the Middle East in order to trigger the Apocalypse. The FBI thinks it has arrested everyone after one of the cultists is blown up in Egypt. Oh my gosh, they missed his sister who has been a sleeper for decades. Off she goes to the Middle East to find an arms dealer who will sell her the weapons necessary to trigger the end of the world. Believable? No.

Arms dealers. The book is loaded with them. They all fear Bob Ferguson who has been dispatched first to find the cultists and then track down an Iraqi terrorist. Corrine Alston, a 26 year old special counsel to the President with no background in intelligence or covert operations is told by the President to "supervise" the operation. Of course, Ferguson wants nothing to do with his boss, who is running her own operations (yes, plural) in the Middle East. All of the arms dealers drink champage. All the time. So does Ferguson. Just can't be a tough guy without a flute of champagne in your hand.

There are backstories aplenty. Too many. And there's action: every two or three pages another corpse or two or ten is thrown on the pile. The action rarely has anything to do with anything except filling pages.

And then there is the rogue Mossad agent, an alcoholic, still grieving over the murder of his Muslim wife at the hands of terrorists. Oh yes, he has plans too.

In sum, this is a sharp departure from Larry Bond's normal excellence. Every page is painful to read. The characters have no credibility. The plot is simply a mishmash of pointless action scenes. Compare this with most of Bond's earlier work and you have to ask if something horrible has happened to Mr. Bond.

Whether it's the co-author or falling victim to fame and greed, I hope Larry Bond will put this part of his life behind him and get back to writing some of the best techno-thrillers of the day. This certainly is not one of them.

              Jerry

3 out of 5 stars Not the same.......2006-03-13

I have been a big fan of Bond's for years. However, when good authors take on "co writers" I get the idea the co writer does the books. I have seen this with several other Authors. This doesn't even seem like a Larry Bond book. It is worth reading but I wish I had gotten at library rather than buying. I hope Mr Bond goes back to writing books himslelf even in this series. Book Description

Abortion has been at the emotional center of America's culture wars for a generation. Ever since the Supreme Court's landmark Roe v. Wade decision, abortion has in many ways defined American politics, creating an ideological demilitarized zone between liberals and conservatives. Above all, the twenty-five-year war over abortion has been responsible for the most significant social phenomenon of our times-the political and cultural mobilization of Evangelical America. Furthermore, it has served as the lightning rod for the most intense and prolonged debate on the issue of separation of church and state since the founding of the nation. Now for the first time, in a compelling and very human narrative, Wrath of Angels traces the rise and fall of the American anti-abortion movement and reveals its critical role in the creation of the Religious Right. The book explores why the passionate battle to end abortion failed to achieve its goal and yet in the process became one of the most important-and least understood-social protest movements of the twentieth century. The anti-abortion movement was the catalyst that convinced Protestant fundamentalists to end their long cultural isolation, leaving their church pews for the streets. And, while they failed to change the law, they were transformed themselves, emerging as one for the most potent political forces in America at the end of the century. James Risen, an investigative reporter for the Los Angeles Times, and Judy L. Thomas, a reporter for the Kansas City Star, are widely acknowledged as the leading journalistic experts on the anti-abortion movement. Their narrative history captures all the drama of the abortion battles of the past twenty-five years and reveals how a movement with its roots in the Catholic left's antiwar protests of the 1960s was gradually transformed into a rallying point for the newly muscular Religious Right. Wrath of Angels documents the origins of the use of civil disobedience in the anti-abortion movement and offers the definitive explanation of why the movement ultimately descended into violence-and collapsed as a political force. It tells the compelling story of the shootings of abortion doctors in the 1990s and draws upon exclusive interviews with the anti-abortion extremists who have been convicted of these crimes. Anti-abortion activism represents the largest social protest movement since the 1960s. With clarity and objectivity, Risen and Thomas unleash the stormy wrath of angels, the volatile eruption of fundamentalist fury into American politics.

              4 out of 5 stars A fine 4.5 star effort!.......2006-12-27

WOA is journalism as a seamless garment of teamwork. Risen and Thomas (who admirably write in one voice) lay out a chronology of anti-abortion activism that starts in non-violent picketing by a small group of post-Viet Nam war, socially-concerned Catholic pacifists, moving to criminal behavior as impressionable fundamentalists take up and dominate the cause, culminating in violence by the extreme fringe against abortion clinics and assaults and murder perpetrated on abortion providers.

As I write this at the end of 2006, the 1998 paperback edition of this book is being remaindered, and the book may go out of print. This is too bad, as the determination amongst conservative Catholics and right-wing fundamentalists to make the US an anti-abortion society by law continues unabated since WOA's publication. With the centrist rebuke of the Bush government in 2006, one wonders if the increasingly marginalized religious right will once again become desperate enough to condone (or look the other way) a resurgence of violent activism of the sort documented so well by Risen and Thomas in WOA. Readers should be aware that activist anti-abortion forces are willing to achieve their goals by pluralities, not majorities, and by packing local political precincts with single-issue fellow ideologues, not to mention the courts and attorneys general. (I'm writing from Kansas where this is NO small matter)

If there is one book to read on growth of the extreme anti-abortion movement, it should be this one. It humanizes the anti-abortion personalities (John O'Keefe, Joseph Scheidler, John Ryan, Randall Terry, Shelley Shannon, Joan Andrews) in ways that will even surprise staunch abortion rights advocates. WOA has an extensive bibliography to guide interested readers to further information, as well as a section of news photographs (it could have used MORE of these!).

The journalistic style is dynamic, forward moving and vivid, a model of reportage, if not analysis. The reader is free to draw his/her own conclusions. The book is compromised, however, by stopping just short of portraying the religious motivations of the anti-abortion protagonists to the fullest. Even so, it does better by comparison than other works on the subject that simply dismissed the religious ideology that fueled and grew with the rise in anti-abortion activism in the 1980s and early '90s.

4 out of 5 stars More of an eyewitness perspective than a full, in-depth report.......2006-02-02

The deepest feeling I come away with is a "You were there" sort of idea. Details are vivid - my favorite is the depiction of the first Right to Life march in D.C., when police went to arrest some of the protestors, who happened to be Pentecostals who suddenly felt the Spirit, began speaking in tongues and rolling on the ground. The police retreated, briefly.

Of course, given such vivid "you were there" detail, one has to question how much of this account is mere perspective, how much is fact. As such, it is a useful, though not central, work in studying the pro-life movement, and certainly not a theological or sociological treatise. The book accomplishes what it intends to do, which is to describe the development of the pro-life movement in very human terms. For that it earns 4 stars.

              5 out of 5 stars Eye-opening investigative journalism.......2004-08-01

Like many children of the 1970's and 1980's I grew up seeing clinic protests on the nightly news---and was initially bewildered by the actions.

The desire to stop legal abortion by killing medical personnel and destroying clinic property seemed to contradict itself even to a seventh grader who was only begining to become involved with feminist politics. For instance, Jehovah's Witnesses do not personally believe in undergoing blood/organ transfusions, but they are respectful enough to avoid terrorizing the local medical facilities which do offer these services.

In this gripping work, Risen traces the evolution of the American anti-choice movement. Disatisfaction with the pace of action from early days naturally gave rise to a violent 'fringe' who were actually known to the 'respectable' movement leaders---if not publically supported by these same figures. The early theory held the resulting good/bad cop routine would enable the mainstream anti-abortion movement leaders to ban the procedure faster than if they were the only ones working in the movmenet.

Because there are many books analyzing these actions from a second-person perspective and draw exclusively on the testimony of pro-choice activists and/or public officials, it is important that he included interviews with the perpetrators themselves. Personally pro-choice, he is nevertheless critical of intra-movement organizing tactics which inadvertently allowed anti-abortion protestors to gain critical ground in Wichita and elsewhere. Good organizing also involves the ability of a person and their allies to know when and how to self-scrutinize actions for future improvement plans.

Still disagreeing with individuals who would restrict reproductive rights for others and especially the violent protestors, I now understand the extent of their political network and enduring impact on American politics. The 'moderates' are quiet only because they realize a growing segment of the American public has also made connections between their rhetoric and 'extremist' actions.

4 out of 5 stars A good overview of the abortion wars.......2003-02-08

This book is a good, general view of the anti-abortion movement in the US in the last couple of decades, and its spiral into violence. However, I don't think we've heard the last of the violent fringe for a second.

4 out of 5 stars Important and flawed.......2001-03-23

These reporters who have covered the abortion wars offer a richly detailed account of the evolution of both the militant direct action organization "Operation Rescue" and the growth of antiabortion violence including bombings, arsons and murder. Antiabortion activists don't like this book it because it accurately portrays the growing crimininality of elements of the movement, and the complicity of others. Wrath of Angels is an important contribution to the literature in this field and no serious study of the politics of abortion can be considered serious without addressing the information it contains.

Even the best of books can't cover eerything, and Wrath of Angels is no exception.

One hole is the profound influence of the theocratic Christian Reconstructionist movement on the growth of the violent wing of the movement -- which Risen and Thomas give only a passing mention. Another is the absence of any mention at all of the overlap between far right militias and the violent wing of the antiabortion movement. These matters had received considerable discussion in informed circles, as well as the mainstream press well before the publication of Wrath of Angels. Fortunately, these matters are well covered by Frederick Clarkson in Eternal Hostility: The Struggle Between Theocracy and Democracy.

Even with these flaws, Wrath of Angels is both an important work and an engaging read.

How far is too far? How late is too late? Has planet earth already passed the point of no return? And for the sake of its very salvation, does humanity have the courage to change centuries of religious dogma, political expediency, and social tradition? These are the fateful questions that frame G. P. Hardy s gripping, fast-lane novel of looming environmental disaster and human extinction. The burden weighs heaviest on the scientists in the story who have made a realistic tally of the coming finalities. Not a burden of proof, for the evidence overwhelms all willing to look at it honestly, but of persuasion, for theirs is a message that political pundits and religious powers refuse to hear, much less to heed. Nowhere is it more powerfully apparent than in Seven Angels of Wrath that the misuse of conventional powers runs an ugly parallel course to the abuse of the earth s environmental resources. The debate over global warming has long been joined, but until now the warning voices have sounded too effetely academic, too cozily intellectual, or too brazenly political to preach to many beyond their own intramural choirs. In G. P. Hardy we hear a different kind of voice with a very different intonation. He speaks from real world experience that includes ranching, hunting, the courtroom, and one of the toughest arenas around: Texas politics and power. We may yawn when yet another academic or politician sets out to instruct us, but when a man like G. P. Hardy speaks, we had best sit up and listen. For this reason, Seven Angels of Wrath is worth reading, not only for its literary merits, which are considerable, but also for its meaning, which is critical. More than a novel, this is also a summary brief of life and death. Only to our peril can we afford to ignore its message.

              5 out of 5 stars A Story With A Warning!.......2007-02-16

Who among us has not heard the warning and felt the uncertainty of our earth's future because of 'global warming?' How many of us fully understand the impact that it is having on our earth and will have within the lives of future generations? Is it as serious as some beat the drums to bring to our attention or can we truly believe that the earth will continue supporting life forever as it does now?
In this novel by author G.P. Hardy III we are taken into the very heart of this matter as scientist, who have developed a computer which they call Wormwood, and one that shows the terrifying outcome of future earth, face the shocking reality of what is about to occur on plant earth and how it will effect and is effecting every giving of life function on our planet. The conclusions are literally earth shattering! And as they present their findings to the leaders of our nation they fearfully await the course of action that they will take and silently pray it will be the right one.
This is a subject matter that isn't pleasant to think about but our author G.P. Hardy helps us to take a hard look at our possible future and does it in a fast paced, interesting novel that holds your attention and gives you knowledge in a storyline that certainly does have the potential to unfold before our eyes, in reality, in the future of planet earth. God help us all! Certainly a novel that is well worth your time and one that will be a true eye-opener.I applaud the author for undertaking a very controversial subject matter and bringing it to light in a way that will not bring forth a yawn but a far better understanding.

This book is a brilliant social commentary hidden in a fantasy war, which now threatens the real world. The close reader will understand the real meaning behind the fiction.

The author of the book makes some prophetic commentary on the state of the world today.

Read this book as a puzzle to be put together. I started realizing what the author was doing in chapter 3. I'm not going to give it away, because what fun would it be if you don't have to explore it for yourself. C.S Lewis, take a step back for this one.

This is the third book of a trilogy, a chronology of three teens caught up in spirit war. The trilogy was written from a perspective sympathetic to Christianity, and as such, includes references to concepts and actions which the casual reader may not be able to fully appreciate. Although the books are classified as science fiction, the supernatural events catalogued in the books may have less to do with fiction than we might wish. I heartily recommend this book but suggest that the first two books in the trilogy be read first.

“Renegade bishop, warrior priest, Arthur Bornshire surveyed the abandoned main street of Hellsgate with eyes as hard as the steel sword at his side. Pagan’s Way was devoid of life, but alive with the mysteries of magic and death.”

So continues the story of one hero’s journey from the darkest pit of despair into the light. In this frame of reality, Christ has been betrayed and crucified and his Apostles have raised an army with the help of Roman general and strategist, turned priest, Arthur Bornshire. With Arthur’s courage and planning, the Empire falls and the First Apostolic Church is the new ruler of the land.

The quest, however, is not over. An ancient foe, the evil sorcerer, Graduc, has reappeared. Arthur’s army campaigns with courage and brilliance until the Apostles order a misguided change in plans that Arthur knows is suicide for his men. Rather than comply, he marches his men from the field. In retribution, the Apostles crucify Arthur’s wife, son, and daughter. Arthur vanishes. In Bornshire, Arthur returns and exacts vengeance, but the battle is far from over, and the enemies left to be faced greater than any ever imagined.

                    Book Description

Fantasy, romance, and mysterious foreboding run wild in this modern-day Gothic novel about angels in Catalonia, Spain, who were permitted to survive the flood of Noah?s day. Now one keeps the other captive for a sin he committed nearly four hundred years ago, while a young woman, full of curiosity, struggles to probe into their darkest secrets.

5 out of 5 stars Have to read this book........2003-04-12

This book was recommeded to me by a friend. I am glad that I took the time to read it. It was quite enjoyable. Most books have loose ends. This book has nothing hanging, to make you wonder wat happened to a certain character. It was a real page turner. I couldn't put it down, I had to know what happened next.

5 out of 5 stars Wrath of Angels: Robin in the Snow.......2001-07-01

The following was sent to me before the book was ever even queried for publication:

"...As a general comment, your book is extremely well written. I was more than a little surprised that (name left out) knew anyone with such literary talent. It was a pleasant surprise.

You are obviously a very observant individual with a wonderful eye for detail. Your descriptions have an almost photographic quality--they can be read and re-read much as one would browse a family album which captured a great deal of one's youth. Your images are vivid--they provoke thought and trigger memories.

Your cast of characters is diverse and interesting. Their number is more than adequate to variegate the story yet not so large that a reader would become confused. You provide enough depth to fairly represent their individual natures. This makes the reader feel there's sufficient material to gain accurate personal insight into the players.

Pacing is very good. The story flows along at a fast enough rate to sustain interest but not so fast as to lose the reader. The rate you've chosen is perfect for creating and sustaining the mysterious mood you were after.

Great dialogue. It is what moves the story along so well. Too often writers overdo the exposition and make their stories sound preachy. While your book has its preachy moments they are offset by the quantity of pertinent dialogue. This is an especially good trait of your writing.

Excellent vocabulary and use thereof. You exhibit a strong mastery of the language.

In summary, you've got something that should sell and you ought to try to move it as soon as you can. I think you may well have a winner here.

                    Bob Wojtyna

P.S. This assessment assumes, of course, that the reader buys into the premise of angelic existences. I myself do not. However, it is your good fortune that the vast majority of the world's readers do ascribe to these entities. That may well translate into very rewarding sales.
