Disappointing.......2006-03-01
A few breathing exercises were OK, but not much instruction on developing a good practice. Most of the book explaining Taoist water and fire methods put me to sleep. Was like New Age goobly guk.
A book every occultist should have.......2005-09-18
Every occultist who is serious about using breathwork may want to strongly consider reading this book and utilizing the practices found therein.
The taoist philosophy and explanation of the differences between fire and water methods of working with energy are insightful and useful for getting an Eastern perpsective on energy work, often lacking in the majority of western books on said subject. The exercises definitely work and will have an effect on you, in a variety of manners. I do urge readers not to take these exercises too lightly...practice them diligently, but be open to what experiences occur, as you will find yourself examining a lot of the emotional and mental triggers that are embedded in the fluid stream of your consciousness.
If nothing else, consider that this book provides a different way of understanding how you breath and that such perspective can be very enlightening...For the occultist this is a must have book! Ten stars out of five
A Textbook for the Internal Arts.......2005-01-29
One of the best meditation and internal books I own. It goes through the process on how to stand and use the Outer-dissolving process. It also helps to develop your practice with regards to breathing which I have noticed many people have problems with. Although it is always better to have a teacher to teach you things like this; you could, with the Companion CD, practice these things with little problems.
The Real Thing !!!!!.......2004-10-17
This is an excellent addition to the Taoist literature available in the West today. Within you will find a blending of the philosophical roots of Taoism and the foundational practices for directly experiencing "yourself" in Tao. Useful and clear information about Taoist Breating, Meditation, and Dissolving Pratices. Written by a Taoist Lineage Master who is one of few qualified to teach "Living" Taoism in the West.
Overall it is a potent distilation of a "mysterious" subject into an helpful, enjoyable, clarifying and powerful read. A Must read for anyone(beginners to advanced) looking to delve deeper into Tao.
relaxing.......2004-06-15
I found "Relaxing Into Your Being" very helpful. There is a set of breathing exercises that helped me relax physically and mentally. I see the world from a more relaxed point of view. In the appendix, there is a good description of the physical process of relaxation.
Also, there is a very interesting and informative description of meditation.

Hard to find rebreather information.......2002-04-05
Good information on purchasing, using and caring for a rebreather. I purchased and maintain my rebreather using info from this book. The book covers all types of rebreathers.
More than "Rebreathers for dummies".......2000-07-03
One of the authors writes, "This book is the 'rebreathers for dummies' text". While not a technical text, per se, it is much more than a "dummies" handbook. It is a concise, well-written guide to both the history and current state of rebreather diving systems. It is also well-illustrated, with excellent diagrams and tables. After reading this book the reader will have a good grounding in rebreather technology, and its important safety issues, and be able to not only evaluate the relative advantages and disadvantages of the increasing number of recreational rebreathers being offered for sale, but whether this kind of technical diving is really suited for them. Rebreathers do not suffer fools, and this kind of diving is not a substitute for the relative simplicity of open circuit SCUBA using compressed air. By the way, while not mandatory, it is invaluable if the reader is familiar with the principles of Nitrox diving.
Rebreather.......2000-01-13
If you understand the concept of Nitrox diving, this book will give you a very detailed and helpfull overview about the diffrent rebreather which are on the market. Before I took my rebreather lessons in Switzerland, I had read the entire book and I did not have any problems during the lessons. I can recomened this book for people who are interessted in rebreather diving.

Breathing Water.......2007-01-16
One of my favorite books, from one of my fav authors. When will she write again? It has been far too long.
Rebuilding the past.......2006-06-11
A book that takes place in a house, on a lake, in the woods, in Vermont... filled with characters you will love...
Effie returns home to grandmothers cabin, where she spent her summers as a little girl. She returns to the cabin on the lake, after being gone for 3 years when she left behind her abusive boyfriend; now she gathers the strength to return about hearing of his death. Effie returns to face herself, her past and now her future.
What a wonderful-can't put this down-read! T. Greewood's style of writing is smooth and filled with the artistic weaving of words, like fibers, one holding the next in place!!
Exceptional !.......2005-05-25
Tammy Greenwood is an amazing writer...her style is straightforward yet poetic and evocative; writing seems to come very naturally to her. In addition, her stories, simple as they seem, draw you in. I could not recommend all three of her books enough!
lovely writing- marred by coincidence.......2004-03-08
T. Greewnwood's first novel is a nice, lyrical endeavor, but the strength of the writing cannot overcome the overwhelming coincidences structuring the narrator's breakthrough from pain to forgiving.
The only new friends she makes while in semi-seclusion at her late grandfather's cabin, are the brother of the little girl whose death she is trying to overcome & another abuse victim like herself (the other trauma she is attempting to work through).
While the descriptions of her surroundings are almost real enough to touch, and the flasback/forward structure of the novel intriguing enough to pull the reader through, I felt there was a hefty amount of narration missing- whenever Effie went back to the places that haunted her, the prose became almost too poetic- where where the raw, gutteral emotions she must have been living with?
There were holes in the narration... too many to warrant a 4 star rating. Although, my interest in her newer novels remains- I hope that as she grows as a writer her stories will gather a more solid strength.
3 1/2 *.......2002-06-23
T. Greenwood tells a simple story about Effie Greer's struggle in dealing with the years of abuse endured at the hands of her ex-boyfriend Max. On one very eventful night...the accidental death of a child, fortunatly she decides to leave the relationship. The memories of that night still haunt her, she is left dealing with guilt that does not belong to her and scars that do belong to her.
The narration is somewhat slow paced yet skillfully pleasant. The author uses the same poetic style of writing to describe beautiful images of Lake Gormlaith as to describe scenes of violence... ''In the other room he turns into the tiger behind the door I am trying to close...It is midnight and I am some strange Cinderella, the glass slipper shattering into a thousand gestures...Open palm across my face, nails dug into my shoulders, fingers like a noose around my neck. Fists meeting bone, bone, bone.''
Without giving the ending away I can say that it makes you realize that sometimes life itself has a way of fixing things in a strange way and when you least expect it.
A simple, enjoyable, worth recommending, well written story ... I will read her new book Nearer than the sky.

Levertov is brilliant.......2004-10-02
Denise Levertov has a brilliant grasp on sin and its consequences and an eye and ear for beauty ever bit as keen as Mary Oliver's. This is an enjoyable, meaningful book of poems that earthy subject matter. Multiple readings are certainly rewarded.

Book Description
This book is a cycle of poems about swimming threaded from the author's own voice and the voices of people she knows. The central metaphor is water and the primary setting is Barton Springs, a beautiful spring-fed swimming pool in Austin, Texas. There is drift in these poems. They flow the way we do, sometimes off a cliff, sometimes gently around the bend.

Book Description
The Sword, The Ring, and The Chalice trilogy ensnared readers in its web of fantasy and suspense. The Queen's Gambit added more layers to the tale. Now, national bestselling author Deborah Chester delivers a novel of a king's duty to his land, his love for his wife-and the ultimate betrayal of both.
Customer Reviews:
Great Characterizations.......2004-03-02
I loved The Sword, The Ring, and The Chalice books, but was not too pleased with The Queen's Gambit. However, this series is back on track with The King Betrayed. Dain is always an enjoyable character, but I find Alexeika to be in many ways even more fascinating. Here is a heroine who is extraordinarily human, so strong that she is unable to be weak or to accept weakness in others. She insists on seeing Dain in a heroic light, and cannot accept him as being flawed. I find her always to be just about unlikable, and yet I do end up liking her. Like so many of us,her greatest strength is her greatest weakness. She is an original, so well created that she seems very real to me.
For me, the strongest aspect of this series are the well-drawn characters and their affect on each other. Once again, I am excited by this series and am awaiting the next book impatiently.
epic fantasy at its romantic best.......2003-11-26
Seven years ago the half Elden Dain took the throne away from the mad king that was slowly destroying the kingdom of Nether. Today the realm recovers, but King Dain, who is happily married to his soulmate Queen Alexeika, is unable to rest. His three children contain varying degrees of Edven blood but only his four year old son could be considered his proper heir. The powerful clandestine Killegya cabal wants the king to distance his warrior queen from affairs of the realm and Nether's neighbors may attack the still weakened kingdom at any time.
After being away, Dain finds his son killed, his eldest daughter kidnapped and his youngest child catatonic. The guards and protectors were paid off to look the other way when Grethori guardsmen try to destroy the royal family. Dain rushes to find his daughter but a powerful mage ensorcelles him. Though many think the king is dead and demand a new monarch proclaimed, the queen refuses to believe her beloved husband is murdered. When he comes home, she cannot forgive him for his adultery with a powerful sorceress and for not returning their daughter to her. An elusive enemy orchestrating events wants the king of Nether to pay for past grievances.
Deborah Chester has written a beautiful romantic fantasy that is filled with plenty of action and has characters that are easy to understand. It is not a country or a tribe that causes the royal family so much grief but one man who erroneously believes King Dain has destroyed the worked he accomplished. The ironic part is the king never gave him a second thought. THE KING BETRAYED is epic fantasy at its romantic best.
Harriet Klausner
Book Description
A startling look inside one of the most fascinating cases of last year––the murder of Terry King, the conviction of his 12 and 13–year old sons, and the pedophile who was accused of being an accessory.
On November 26, 2001, Terry King was found dead in his recliner in his home in Pensacola, Florida. Though a fire had been set in an attempt to cover up the scene, the evidence was indisputable––he had been beaten to death with a baseball bat. Days later, King's two young sons, 12 and 13 and not even five feet tall each, were found hiding out in the mobile home of their close friend, Rick Chavis, a convicted pedophile who had recently become very close to 12–year old Alex. In parallel statements, Alex and Derek confessed to murdering their father, and soon, they became the two youngest people ever to stand on trial for murder in the state of Florida.
But in a startling twist, the prosecution decided to do the unprecedented––try the boys for murder in one trial and Rick Chavis for murder in another, despite the boys' confessions. And in a case that gripped the state of Florida and hit headlines across the nation, convictions came down and were soon overturned. But in the end, the case became a series of missed opportunities, stunning reversals, and one of the most riveting true crime stories of the last decade.
Customer Reviews:
WOW, I couldn't put it down.......2005-07-14
This book was very interesting, it sucked me in from the beginning. After reading the book and watching the documentary on A&E about the King brothers I'd have to say that I still don't think they did it. I think it was all Rick Chaves. I don't think the kids were in the right state of mind either. They were brain washed into thinking they're father (terry) didn't love them and was abusing them. I also dont think it was fair that Rick got off as lightly as he did. I know that were his sentence he wont be getting out anyway, but still I think there was enough evidence to convict him for murder.
these 2 lil punks deserve death!.......2005-01-21
NO WAY WAS JUSTICE DONE! THEY KILLED THEIR OWN FATHER BECAUSE THEY WANTED TOO.. NO IFS ANDS OR BUTS ABOUT IT!SAD THING IS I WORK IN THE CORRECTIONS SYSTEM AND WITH THESE KIDS, AND ONE DAY THEY WILL BE SET FREE TO KILL AGAIN! THEY CAN NOT BE REFORMED!
ENOUGH SAID....
I couldn't put it down.......2004-08-13
For three days every time I had a free moment i was reading this book trying to understand just how our justice sytem has sustained for so long when everything that is wrong with it is exposed through the Terry King murder trial. I remember hearing about this case on the news a few years ago and all I ever really got from the media was how distirubed these children must have been to have committed these crimes and what was wrong with the children in the world these days. Little did I know that all the faults in this case were do to people simply not doing their job and just trying to put this case to an end and get a convition the easiest way possible. But even though most of the media just portrayed these kids as uncaring terrible children, Mollye, a news reporter genuinely wanted to find the truth..........something my be our justice system should have been interested in as well. VERY VERY VERY good and thought-provoking book!
A Wake Up Call to America's Juvenile Injustice System.......2004-07-06
A Perversion of Justice hit the nail on the head. Great work Mollye and Kathryn! The book explains through a child's eye the horrors of today's juvenile injustice system. I hope the book is bought by every American family and read by every parent. The tough on juvenile crime political bandwagon parading in this country has been misinterpreted by parents who really have no concept of what they are voting for when they elect politicians with this stance.
This book is a definite wake up call. Parents only find out the terrible reality when their own child gets caught up in the barbed web of the system, and they learn the hard way that their children really aren't under their protection. When prosecutors are given the right to prosecute any age child as an adult, as is the case in Florida, in essence, no child is safe and all children belong to the state instead of their parents.
Ever since a "tough-on-juvenile-crime" political response to a media-hyped juvenile crime wave in the early 90s, the United States Juvenile Justice System has increasingly become a nightmare for America's children. Children caught up in the justice system are no longer recognized as children, yet aren't afforded the rights granted adults. Florida leads the nation in belief that children should be locked away for life.
Society should never respond to children who have committed crimes as though they are somehow equal to adults, fully formed in conscience and fully aware of their actions. Placing children in adult jails is a sign of failure, not a solution. In many instances, such terrible behavior points to societies own negligence in raising children with a respect for life, providing a nurturing and loving environment, or addressing serious mental or emotional illnesses.
Scientific studies have proven that the adolescent brain is not fully formed. Therefore, children should not be held equally culpable as adults. The Legislature needs to come out of the dark ages and listen to experts on child psychiatry and scientific data on human growth and development.
The draconian laws of the past two decades need to be re-evaluated and changed. An easy first step to juvenile justice reform in Florida would be for the Legislature to remove juveniles tried as adults from mandatory sentencing schemes and restore to juvenile judges discretion of deciding whether a child is to be tried in juvenile or adult court, instead of letting prosecutors decide.
There should be defined lines of age distinction drawn between child and adult. If visual difference isn't enough to convince, logic and common sense should recognize that children aren't allowed to drive, sign contracts or vote among other things, because society doesn't believe they are mentally mature enough to do these things competently. Therefore, why is it that if a child commits a crime they are suddenly classified by the courts as an adult?
Any competent adult should know better.
Children are this county's most precious commodity, because they are our future. If a society is judged by how well it treats its most vulnerable, the past two decades of America's juvenile justice system will be recorded as barbaric.
Read this book and you will want to change the juvenile justice system. Laws can be changed, one vote at a time.
Excellent Book.......2004-07-06
Leaving me shocked, disturbed, enraged and at times in tears over the brutal way Alex and Derek were treated, I really think we should all applaud the step Kathryn Medico and Mollye Barrows have taken in writing this book. There is no doubt in my mind that a Perversion of Justice occurred from the very beginning and I am personally horrified that we live in a society where a prosecutor can take a man to trial for murder and not even try to get a conviction and I'm further horrified that a young child can be forced to testify in open court and in handcuffs at the murder trial of a man accused of molesting him.
Regardless of who committed this crime, the fact is that the system failed these young boys miserably and it's only time someone take responsibility for fixing this broken system and Mollye and Kathryn's book is a good first start.
I strongly recommend anyone who cares about justice in America to read this book.
