Customer Reviews:
Wonderful.......2006-02-24
My husband is legally blind and a great Vonnegut fan. This product is wonderful for him.
A must have for Vonnegut fans.......2004-09-10
I loved these books, except for the fact that they are abridged. The main thing I liked was that Vonnegut plays and sings the songs which he writes in the books. Whenever a song appears in a Vonnegut text, you have lyrics, but no melody. I expected to only hear him read the lyrics, but he has an acoustic guitar and SINGS. That was a trip.
LISTEN TO VONNEGUT.......1999-09-13
There's nothing like listening to an author read from his work. This audio collection - Vonnegut reading from Slaughterhouse Five, Welcome to the Monkey House, Breakfast of Champions, and Cat's Cradle - is an absolute must for any fans of Kurt Vonnegut, Jr.
Slaughterhouse-Five is one of the best books ever written!.......1997-04-09
This audio-cassette version of Slaughterhouse-Five is a great way to enjoy Vonnegut at his best. Follow Billy Pilgrim through a hillarious and moving journey through life that has more relevence to real life than any other character in modern American fiction. Vonnegut's influence is wide and well respected mostly due to Slaughterhouse-Five. A must buy

Hate At First Sight
The tempestuous affair of Kitiara Uth Matar and Tanis Half-Elven begins with the sword.
Life isn't simple for the hotheaded pair. They must contend with a carnivorous, two-headed troll; a deposed leader who believes Kitiara is the cause of the ruler's troubles; a vindictive mage who seeks peculiar vengeance; and Kit's hulking former lover. They also meet a beautiful magic-user hiding a painful secret, and a giant owl with a sardonic sense of humor.
Here is the long-awaited story of the meeting of Tanis and Kitiara, a tale of love, lust, betrayal, and revenge that takes the reader through Krynn and south to the glacial Icereach.
Ellen Porath, co-author of Kindred Spirits, tells this exciting new tale, the fifth in the
Dragonlance Saga Meetings Sextet.
Customer Reviews:
Good book.......2004-09-14
Good book, plain and simple. Not the best but still good. If your a Dragonlance fan you'll enjoy the read.
Not very exciting.......2003-03-30
Tanis should have known better than to have gotten involved with Kitiara Uth Matar, but he did, and this book tells the tale of how all this gets worked out. And of course there is another man involved with Kitiara. And there's fighting. And some backstabbing. And a strange trip to Icereach. This book was okay. Not the best in the Meetings Sextet. Read it if you like the characters involved. A little of the plot becomes important later on in the Dragonlance Series. It might be interesting to know the background details from this book.
Pleasantly surprised.......2002-12-24
... NOW TO THIS BOOK. I am not really sure on timeframes since I am reading in chronological order so that doesn't bother me like it did the previous reviewers. They seemed disappointed in this book for that fact. I was not. The meeting between Tanis and Kitiara is quick and unbelievable, which is too bad. The addition of Caven (Another of Kit's men) is a great addition to this book when he teams up with Tanis. The story is fine, the characters are pretty good. I enjoyed this book. The only complaint is the end is not that action packed as one would hope and it's over rather quick and boring. But this book is better than I expected.
Kit is a (...).......2001-12-17
I have to admit that this book did have its high moments. But it was overall lacking the drama and intrigue that should have gone along with Tanis and Kit's first meeting. I didnt like the way that Kit acted throughout the story. There was a little action here and there, but the story was not as good as it could have been. It really made me not like Kit. I mean i know she is a fighter, and she doesnt care about anything cut her sword. But the way she acts in this story is totally degrading to her character, read it if you must, but this book could be easily skipped.
Decent, but..........2001-04-05
This is definitely better than Oath and Measure, so if you're reading the Meetings Sextet in order then at least things improve. The meeting between Tanis and Kitiara is VERY lacking in drama--they simply fall into each others arms in a mixture of battle and unexpected lust. This should have been handled much more carefully.
The non-Chronicles characters are extremely enjoyable in the sense that they add a depth to the novel and allow it to be an original story. However, the plot itself isn't very complex--a bad guy wants power, yawn. Also, there are almost too many other characters--I felt like the dynamic between the two mages could have been its own novel, but Ellen was "forced" to write about Tanis and Kit instead. As a result, neither relationship is developed appropriately.
Still, a decent read with good characters in a great realm.

He writes what and how I wish I could.......2006-07-23
I've had this book a long time. I've read it many times. Each time I experience an expanded and enhanced spiritual and psychic understanding of an event I thought I'd come to terms with long ago. Probably because he doesn't journalistically report exactly what happened; probably because he presents the psychic reality of his personal experience: that experience enlarges our own. I was watching a local Spanish station at the time because, of course, the antenna for regular major news media broadcasting was destroyed. At the time I worked in an international on-line network. I remember being physically discomfited by others, elsewhere in the country/world, speaking as though they had some inherent legitimate authority to tell me what was happening less than 3 miles away (by flying crow). But that fortuitous allegation reminded me that the unthinkable event had happened to the "World" Trade Center - not the "New York" Trade Center. I remembered that New York Harbor was a major trading center, a stock exchange in physical goods dating back to the 1600s and housed in the Custom House which is still there. The traders were Dutchmen. I, too, have a semi-tangible psychic reality about the entire 400-year time line. We live in a spiritual world and there is still much that we really don't understand but we do get glimpses of it along the way.
Most Moving 9-11 Tribute I Have Read.......2003-06-02
This slim volume greatly humanizes the lives, hopes, fear and dreams of those about to die. It is fiction...no real names are used. It reminds us that of the thousands who died, every one of them was a living, breathing person, just like us. This is a small masterpiece and deserving of your attention.
A Very Moving Experience.......2002-05-17
This book was like none other I have ever read... the author seemed to digest this tradegy and somehow turned it into something beautiful. It has reminded me of all that I have, how easily it could be gone and to cherish every moment we are here. It has truly changed the way I see my life. I enjoyed this book very much and highly recommend it to everyone.
Inspiration and Self Examination--A Beautiful Combination.......2002-05-15
"Beyond Stone and Steel" by Brian W. Vaszily recounts a personal passage from one mental state to another far better one, describes the slow, step-by-step trudge often required by events much larger than ourselves.
That event might be death.
That event might be the loss of a job.
That event might be rejection.
That event might be bankruptcy.
Or the event might be national loss.
For this author, all of these experiences played a part in his transformation. Right from the first chapter, Vaszily makes no secret of the result; what he discovered on his path down misfortune's lane is that he is "a lucky man" in spite of the hardships he has suffered.
This slim volume may be difficult to take, depending on the reader's status with recovery from the events of 9/11. Regardless of one's recovery status, though, it may be just what the doctor ordered.

Book Description
With contributions from leading experts in their respective fields, Metal and Ceramic Matrix Composites provides a comprehensive overview of topics on specific materials and trends. It is a subject regularly included as a final year option in materials science courses and is also of much industrial and academic interest. The book begins with a selection of chapters describing the most common commercial applications of composite materials, including those in the aerospace, automotive, and power generation industries. Section 2 outlines manufacturing and processing methods used in the production of composite materials ranging from basic aluminium matrix composites, through particle reinforced composites, to composites using novel matrix fibres such as titanium-silicon carbide and ceramics. Section 3 is devoted to the mechanical behaviour of different matrix materials and structure-property relations, with particular attention paid to failure and fracture mechanisms. The final section considers those new fibres and composite materials currently in development, including high strength copper composites, porous particle composites, active composites, and ceramic nanocomposites.

Product Description
"All bridges, if they are well built, have their own beauty. They recall the passageway that is perhaps the most enduring symbol of life. They speak of the journey across, and they mark the limits within which we must live. At the same time, they are something given to us by others, on which we cross. For we never cross entirely naked and alone, and we always rest on some base of human ingenuitiy provided by others." -Alfred Kazin
Nothing is more sacred or central to the iconography of New York City than its bridges. For countless artists, writers and poets, these enduring structures have provided not only a link from the city to the outside world, but a means by which the great metropolis was introduced. Bridges reflect the spirit of their age; and the bridges of Manhattan reflect the city's pride in itself and its confidence in the future (why else build an edifice like the Brooklyn Bridge?)
This lovely book is a celebration of the city's bridges, their architects and designers, their builders and advocates. Readers will find a dazzling array of prose and poetry, from the classics by Hart Crane and William Carlos Williams, to lesser known, but no less resonant, work.
Bascove's fourteen resplendent paintings form the cornerstone of the book. Their color and form not only show the structures of bones, but also bring the viewer into contact with them. Bascove possesses one great talent: her ability to make the monumental intimate and the intimate monumental. This is not a book of architectural paintings, but a book of art - graced by some of the best writing of the past two centuries.

The Drama of New York's Bridges in Paintings and Words.......2001-01-05
I was raised in New York, living there the first 21 years of my life. Being a New Yorker means having its numerous bridges engrained in your mind, in your images of the city. I am someone who loves bridges and own a number of books on the topic. This book includes strong and graceful and beautiful paintings of the bridges. They are often shown at night, looking up at dreamy clouds. During the day, they are part of the beauty of the city or its industry. Interestingly, most of the book consists of accompanying dramatic writings by native New Yorkers or visitors who have loved the city and its bridges. They include Alfred Kazin, John Dos Passos, Joyce Carol Oates, Hart Crane and Le Corbusier. And even Helen Keller! I bought the book in 1998 at the Museum of the City of New York and have an autographed copy from the artist. I thumb through it regularly since then in my home in St. Paul, Minnesota, 33 years since I left New York.
