Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Whatever Happened To..........2007-08-20
We don't have to ask whatever happened to Karen Joy Fowler, because since the relatively early stories collected here she has become one of America's foremost purveyors of literary fiction. But "whatever happened to..." is a recurring theme in many of the stories in this volume, as Fowler explores the unknown or unappreciated women behind the men of history or literature. Great examples of this here are Gulliver's exasperated wife in "The Travails" and Einstein's lost daughter in "Lieserl." The same goes for the anonymous women left behind by war in one of this collection's strongest tales, "Letters from Home." In a different but also widely-used motif, in "Lily Red," "The View from Venus: A Case Study," and "Game Night at the Fox and Goose," Fowler looks at male/female relationships in a very distinct way, via the imperfect biases of both sides. Other winners in this collection include the less personal but more adventurous fantasy/sci-fi of "Black Glass," and "The Brew" (the second of which reminds me of a rather whimsical update on "To Kill a Mockingbird"). The only problem is that many of Fowler's short stories end abruptly before reaching closure on the thematic issues raised by the characters and their relationships, while subversion and social satire pop up occasionally but could be put to much more powerful use. [~doomsdayer520~]
Pulled me in immediately.......2004-08-06
I picked up this book as an afterthought. It sounded slipstream and the cover spoke of magic realism.... The cover doesn't do it justice. Fowler is part of the SF community, but none of these stories are strictly science fiction or even speculative fiction. However, they have SF's ability to stand outside and question the norm. Many of the stories address male/female relationships in a daring and forthright manner. Usually, there are a few stories in a collection that fail for me. That's the treasure of anthologies; the author gets another shot at you. But all of these affected me in some way. Bravo! I'm glad that I took the chance on a writer new to me.
Fifteen Dark Gems.......2001-10-01
As wonderful as Fowler's novels are, her short stories pack an even bigger punch. The blurb on the inside front cover wants you to notice that there are stories here about Gulliver's Travels, Carry Nation and the Lone Ranger and Tonto, but don't let the publisher's name-dropping turn you off; Fowler doesn't need to invoke names of legend or other fictions to tell her stories. She's got wit and intelligence and a total lack of mercy when it comes to her characters.
Take a story like "Duplicity," where a pair of women are captured by what might or might not be aliens, who manage to slowly and chillingly turn the captives against each other. Or a story like "The Elizabeth Complex," a multi-faceted meditation on women and their fathers. Or the way Fowler uses history to paint unpleasant pictures of our own present, as she does with "Shimabara." Fowler is as much at ease with stark and unsanitized childhood remembrance ("Go Back," "The Brew") as she is with ironic reflections on radical Berkely ("Letters From Home," "The View From Venus: A Case Study"). Her stories are funniest when they are biting, her characters cut deepest when they are smiling, and she is never, ever, one hundred percent reliable.
This is a great collection. I await more.
Possibly the most original writer in English today.......2000-09-04
Fowler is probably best known for the novel Sarah Canary (also highly recommended), but it's in her short fiction that this writer's unique and impressive talents shine brightest. All the stories in this collection are outstanding, displaying Fowler's characteristic intelligence, wit, and instinct for organic story structure. If you're daunted by the length and complexity of the title story, skip forward and start with "Contention" -- in just a few pages, this tale of domestic disgruntlement and tabloid sensationalism packs in more sharp humor, observation, imagination and political acuity than most novels. The "Reader's Circle" edition of this book includes an interview with Fowler as well as some less-than-insightful "discussion topics."
Lily Red more than Black Glass.......1998-08-22
Other than the longest, first, and book titling short story being my least favorite, "Black Glass: Short Fictions" is varied and filled with surprises. I'm glad I got past "Black Glass" and kept reading. I would much preferred to have the volume titled after another story, "Lily Red." Karen Joy Fowler is able to capture our imaginations quickly, develop the story, give us enough twists and leave us satisfied but wanting more. Many of these stories have a science fiction flare. Lily Red was perhaps my favorite. I could see it developed into a haunting romantic film script. Lily is stopped by a police officer, directed to "Mattie's," a little bed and breakfast, where everyone asks her if she's come to see "the caves." The police officer turns out to be an American Indian named Henry who is quite older than his appearance of 33 years. The torrid love story of Henry and Lily in the cave comes as somewhat of a surprise, and then more twists of reality occur. I did not care for "Black Glass" because of the issue of drugs, but appreciate the way Fowler twists language and traditional story structure to reflect a hallucinogenic experience. It was quite individually done. "The View from Venus: A Case Study" was an excellent exploration of the conundrum of romance. My second favorite story was "The Brew" which connects the magical traditions of the past, witches and unicorns, to the real story of friendship in present day. Mr. McBean is such a drunken and delightfully crotchety character that he scares us and makes us curious at the same time. He begs to be put on the stage. I honestly don't know what to make of "Game Night at the Fox & Goose," but I liked it. The story seemed to leave off just as it was beginning, leaving my mind to suggest how it might have worked out. Fowler's language is hardly lyrical, but is rooted in the conversational patterns and idioms of the present. This volume offers plenty of material for oral literary performance; and the often used first person enhances the stories when read aloud. I might have wished for a bit more of a spiritual level, a couple stories of faith and joy, but as is, these stories are fresh, well written, and greatly entertaining.
Book Description
he year is 1880, the place Leadville, Colorado Territory-a town where lust for gold, power, and flesh intoxicates even the most prudent of souls. So finds ne'er-do-well Kit Randall who has gambled away his trust fund and drifted into the arms of the decadent Lucinda Ridenour, widow and heiress to Leadville's Eye Dazzler mine. Kit is in over his head as a rich woman's kept man. When Lucinda is found murdered, Kit is the prime suspect. He takes refuge with Bella Valentine, a prostitute who supplements her income with tarot card readings. Bella, Kit's uncle, Brad Randall, and Brad's wife-to be, Eden Murdoch, believe in his innocence and want to help him find the real killer. There are plenty of suspects-a disgruntled maid, the foreman of the Eye Dazzler mine, and the foreman's wife-but few clues. Lucinda's murder has taken place in a tinder-box atmosphere. Leadville is wracked by labor union unrest and miners going on strike on the eve of the arrival of the railroad and a visit by former President Grant. A gripping Victorian Western whodunit-filled with fascinating characters and the lore of boomtown Colorado.
Customer Reviews:
A little over-done.......2007-04-11
While the book kept me reading (I did finish it in one sitting) I have to say most of it was fairly anticlimactic. It seemed like there were a lot of social issues raised, then glossed over. I'm not sure if it was the author's intent to make a point of them, or not. The crime almost seemed to take a backseat, and the way it was "solved..." The occult actually played a part, and I prefer my detective work based in solid science (hence the reason I don't watch CSI). I didn't particularly like most of the characters - it seemed they were a little too "odd" on purpose. Character quirks are one thing, but taken to the extreme they simply overwhelm the characters and are detrimental to the storyline. Over all, not a book I would recommend, though not the worst I've read, either.
An exciting amateur sleuth tale.......2003-09-03
In 1880 Leadville, Colorado is booming thanks to the vein of silver being taken out of the Eye Dazzler Mine. Lucinda Ridenour, the owner of the mine, is keeping her young lover in luxurious style indulging in all kinds of debauched pleasures including drugs and the strong liquor absinthe. The last night Kit Randall spends in his lover's home, he has some hallucinations that scare him because he thinks they may be based in reality.
A spiteful Lucinda claims that he stole some items from her before leaving but he is able to talk the police out of arresting him. When his Uncle Brad and his fiancé come to town, they help him hide from the law when Lucinda is murdered. When Brad returns to Washington DC, Eden stays behind to find a way of clearing his name, even if that means figuring out who the real killer is.
THE SECOND GLASS OF ABSINTHE is an exciting amateur sleuth tale that will appeal to fans of romances and westerns as much and those who love historical mysteries will value the tale. Michelle Black is a gifted storyteller whose stark prose and compelling characters draw the reader into the heart of the story line. The mystery is well constructed and there is a plethora of suspects who had every reason to see the widow dead including her own son. Characters from other works of Michelle Black make an appearance giving the audience a feeling of continuity.

Book Description
Breaking the Glass Ceiling documents the achievements of three leaders in Caribbean nurshing at the time of the nascent struggle for indigenous leadership in all areas of West Indian society. It is a narrative of the lives of three extraordinary women who gained both regional and international recognition: Dame Nita Barrow of Barbados, Berenice Dolly of Trinidad and Tobago, and Dr. Mary Sievwright of Jamaica. A feminist and colonialist theoretical perspective is used for the exploration of political, social and economic structures of the societies prior and during the nurses' era in order to provide a context for their achievements and contributions.
They were bright, black women who embraced each challenge that came their way as an opportunity for growth. This growth was not for personal gain or self-aggrandizement but for the good of womankind and the nursing profession...The single common distinguishing feature of these three women was their selfless devotion to service. They worked relentlessly to improve the image of nursing, the nursing profession, and the status of women. Each one did so in her own unique way, and each had a deep, abiding religious faith. Their stories depict their different approaches to their service to women generally and nursing specifically, whether it was in the international arena, in the Caribbean setting or in their own native land.
They were outstanding role models. They rose to prominence in a society in which racism, gender and class distinctions existed and did so with continued vitality and political savvy then most women at the time. They defied tradition within a traditional woman's occupation. They blazed the way for black women and nurses in particular to reach for the top. They were the first black women in nursing in the Caribbean to receive national and international acclaim, albeit not all to the same extent, and were the acknowledged role models for black nurses and women in the region.

Simply average.......2007-04-11
Roving reporter Colin Lyons returns from South America upon learning that his adopted father had a debilitating stroke. The paper has been left in his father's second wife's hands, and she has chosen to bypass news and replace it with fluffy lifestyle columns, resulting in loss of sales and revenue. Colin's goal is to get back to hard news and send the new columnists packing. But once he meets writer Rina Lowell, he's seeing another kind of red. Rina is a widow who fled New York to make it on her own. The two embark on a torrid affair, but is a relationship possible between a woman scarred by a past marriage and a man incapable of trust? What will Rina do when she finds out Colin's true intentions?
Phillips latest re-release is a middle of the road offering loaded with clichés, stilted unrealistic dialogue and too much narrative, which is a real drag, because it could've been so much more. Characters from Phillips previous novels "Body Heat" and "Simply Scandalous" make appearances, but don't really add anything to the story.
Oooh, simply delicious........2003-11-11
This was a hot, hot book. Great love scenes. The characters were a hoot. Lot's of fun. Great read. Can also recommend The Color of Revenge.
Character that you could meet in real life.......2003-05-21
I enjoyed this book immensly. I got so involved by the end of the book that I almost forgot what the beginning was like. Instant red-hot attractions are always fun to read about, and they actually have real issues that they learn to deal with. Hurray for depth of character.
heated holiday romance stuffed w merriment.......2002-12-18
When reporter Colin Lyons learns that his beloved adoptive father suffered a stroke, he takes a leave of absence from his South American assignment to return to his Massachusetts hometown to run Joe's labor of love, Ashford Times. However, Colin learns that his mentor assigned his second wife to run the newspaper. She has converted the focus into fluff while the paper is now losing money. Colin plans to eliminate the bubbles by bringing serious news back as the prime theme of the paper and consequently out of the red.
Colin realizes that he finds one of the new hires, advice columnist Rina Lowell, SIMPLY SEXY. Though he tries to avoid her, she turns the heat up, as she wants her boss by her side permanently. He cannot resist her and decides a holiday fling is just the thing, but as he falls in love he wonders how she will react to his New Year's Resolution to fire the frivolous, which includes her.
Like Rina's column, SIMPLY SEXY is mostly fluff, but anyone looking for an amusing good time will join this reviewer and declare so what. Instead, the audience receives a humorous tale with some serious undertones involving coping with loss and the state of small town newspapers. The key to this novel, as with the previous "Simply" tales (being reprinted starting in April), is the two delightful protagonists, who struggle between professional desires, fears of commitment, and a growing love for one another. Readers will enjoy Carly Phillips' heated holiday romance that contains much merriment with just the right dab of solemnity.

You have done it again, Carly. I forever look forward to your Harlequin Temptation as well as Harlequin Blaze books. How you come up with those steamy scenes and put them into words to describe them so others can actually relate is beyond me! This book kept me on the edge of my seat as well as hot to where I couldn't put it down from start to finish! Thanks!

Book Description
She’s sworn off bad boys.
There’s just one problem. . . .
When life goes awry for wild and sexy Julia Boudreaux, she packs up her stiletto heels and swears off guys who spell nothing but trouble. And to keep her job in television, she decides to create a TV hit–a makeover show. She’s going to turn rugged West Texas men into sensitive guys. Easier pitched than done.
Undercover cop Ben Prescott is so sexy it hurts. Back in Julia’s orbit after a brush with a bullet, Ben steers clear of the woman who used to set his blood afire. She’s changed from Mae West to Mother Teresa, and she’s trying to turn him into a sensitive guy. But when life heats up, will this rugged hunk risk everything for a woman who’s about to lose it all?

Can she turn rugged West Texas men into sensitive guys?.......2006-05-11
'Simply Sexy' is the third novel of the Sexy Series by Linda Francis Lee. In this novel Julia finds herself the playing nurse to the brother-in-law of her best friend aka Undercover cop Ben Prescott. Does she not only need to and fight desires for Ben she is dealing with her father's death, mounds of debt and producing a TV reality show. Check out the entire series: Suddenly Sexy, Sinfully Sexy and Simply Sexy. If you enjoy this genre, I would also suggest, Flirting with Danger by Suzanne Enoch, Crazy For You by Kate Angell and Underfoot by Leanne Banks.
sexy and funny as hell.......2006-01-05
i'm not very big on romance novel but when my sister bought this book, i thought why not take a break from all the mysteries and thriller novel..and i must say, this does not dissapoint..
it's funny, sexy and the romance part is just nice, not too much not too little..
i enjoyed every second of it and even after i finish reading it, i re-read it ...
lee is a very talented writer..this book has it all and i'm glad i read this book...the sexy trilogy is probably the best romance book of all time
The end of a great trilogy.......2005-09-14
"Simply Sexy" is the final installment in a trilogy of books about the women in charge of El Paso's struggling KTEX TV station. Julia Boudreaux's father recently died in a climbing accident. The only thing she has left of him besides a mountain of debt is the station (which she had to sell), her mansion (which she plans to sell), and a wild rose bush he gave her years ago.
While Ben Prescott, an undercover cop is recuperating from a gun shot wound, Julia offers to take him in so his brother and sister-in-law can go one their honeymoon. Julia, tired of her "good time girl" reputation, decides to become more demure. But that is not easy when you have a veritable "Petri dish of testosterone" sleeping down the hall. Ben is laying low trying to find out who murdered his partner, finding himself trapped in close quarters with a Donna Reed wanna-be. But every time they are alone, Ben manages to glimpse the old Julia, and tries to break through her facade. Julia is worried that "import/export" guy she has let into her home is really a drug dealer.
When Julia starts working on a new reality makeover show, Ben helps her find a contestant, so she will quit asking him to be her guinea pig. As she films her show, he keeps showing up, mostly out of jealousy of her chosen "primal guy." Being so close to each other eventually leads to plenty of steam between the two, as they come to terms with who they really are and what they both want out of life.
Lee is always manages to make her characters realistic even when they are thrown into unrealistic situations. Her dialogue is always crisp and witty, and not at all melodramatic like so many romance novelists who apparently own the same thesaurus. "Simply Sexy" is a great (but unfortunate) end to the trilogy. Though each can definitely stand on their own as a single story, you won't be disappointed if you take the time to read all three.
Great end to the trilogy.......2005-03-12
Although this is my least favorite in the trilogy, it was still a good read. I can't wait to read more from her.
Saving The Best For Last!!!.......2004-12-07
This is without a doubt the best in the "Sexy Series" and that's saying something since each and every book was great!
The chemistry and personalities of Ben and Julia were wonderfully matched. Ms. Lee is truly a wonderful voice in romance and her reads are not only fast but extremly entertaining. I managed to read this story in one day and was so sad to say goodbye at the very end.
The secondary storyline of Ben's was just as good as the romance between him and Julia. Both are wounded in different ways but see beyond the hurt of the other to what lays deep down. This was a very sensual read and one that I highly recommend without any qualms. For a wonderful read that you can sink into I suggest Ms. Lee.
