As good as the first one, if not better........2007-04-19
This is one of those series that you can't wait for every few months, for the next book. Great characters (no morons in capes), and a great story. This book gives you just enough info to keep you interested, but not frustrated.
The cover blurb is right, it is a crime against humanity not to read this.......2007-04-04
I thought it was a bit ridiculous and counterproductive to put a blurb like that on the cover, especially coming from a news source as finicky as AICN.
However, it is exactly right. It is a crime against humanity not to read this series.
Kudos to Simon Oliver and Tony Moore for another volume of what should end up being on of the best comics of the 2000s (unless the last years of the decade pump out one masterpiece after another).

Definately should be made into a TV show. .......2007-06-26
I really liked this book because of the amazing artwork that was found within the pages as well as the awesome storyline that is being set up. When you read this book, it is almost like you are there with the Bug Be Gone crew. I am a fan of these type of books. It almost reminds me a lot of the movie Ghostbusters. Each character in that movie and in this book have a certain quirk that makes them unique and fun to watch. As with the Ghostbusters, The Exterminators have their own little awesome toys and such that helps them battle the pestilence that is found in their city.
It is said on the cover of this book that "Vertigo is the HBO of the comic book world and proves this more than ever with THE EXTERMINATORS. ... Outstanding!" - Washington Examiner
I find that this is true. It would be really cool if HBO DID pick up on this series and make it into a tv show. One can almost visualize it being that way.
So what are you waiting for? PICK IT UP!!!!
excellent book.......2007-05-12
If you like more edgy stuff, not superheros in spandex. Get this book, these are the kind of comics that will move to the forefront if they are exposed to a wider audience. Well written, drawn, thought out.........great read...
One of my new favorites.......2007-04-26
If you haven't read "Exterminators" then this is your chance. Turns out roaches are actually going to destroy the world and it's up to the exterminators to take care it. It's dark, disgusting, hilarious and enthralling. Of all the comics on the market this is the one I get most excited for every month. I enjoy it over "Y: The Last Man", "Ex-Machina" and even all of Bendis' work. It's a really great comic that will keep you guessing and shock you time and time again. Lots of great cliffhangers. DON'T WAIT! READ THIS!
Great start........2007-04-19
Great start, to what's turning out to be a great series. I just reviewed the second book, and realized I never reviewed the first.
If you're sick of spandex and capes, this is a great read. This, Ex Machina, Y: The Last Man, and DMZ are definitely the books to read.
The Line Has Been Crossed.......2007-02-02
This is the story of exterminators and their position on the front lines against a growing menace. Our main character is an ex-con who has been given a chance as an exterminator by his mother's new love interest who happens to be the founder of the company. In the field as a newbie he sees some unusual stuff. Their main weapon against cockroaches is a chemical that could cause a severe problem. In a poor section of the city where no one can afford exterminators, the roaches have changed. They are pretty harmless unless exposed to a rare chemical that just happens to be a main ingredient in the roach killer. Compassion drives our hero to perform a job for a young woman living in this neighborhood. Suddenly the roaches are a bigger problem.
There have been times in history when nature has risen up from the lowly creatures to swat down mankind including the recent theory that plague carrying fleas brought down the Roman Empire. We are approaching one of those times now. The signs are here and the Scarab has been sighted. Bugs are going to humanity's big enemy again and these exterminators are looking at ground zero.
How bad will it get and can these killers of bugs avert the coming tragedy? This volume does not answer these questions but it does an excellent job of setting the strange and getting the action moving at a fast pace. There is a lot of foreshadowing for future volumes but the first battle is fought to its end in this volume. Basing a series on exterminators is interesting although I expect most of the bug killers bear little resemblance to any reality (some of these guys are real characters). I am looking forward to the rest of this series. Check it out.

Customer Reviews:
My first Burroughs book.......2006-05-02
I found this in the library at about age 15 or 16.
Looking at it a certain way, I was lucky - some boys
my age read "The Fountainhead" or "Atlas Shrugged",
and have their minds destroyed. I read "Exterminator!"
and had my mind - well, altered in strange ways.
To give an idea of how sheltered I was, there's a scene
where a teenage boy is described as having a 'hardon'.
I did not know what that meant, and could not figure it
out by context.
This is a strange book, not one of WSB's best, but defintely
worth a look if you like this sort of thing.
The story "Exterminator" within the book is magnificent........2006-02-11
The story within the book, "Exterminator", caused shifts in my consciousness that have not been rivalled to this day. It moved me from one world of thought to another imperceptibly and then back again, almost before I realized any change had occurred at all. Kinda like the channels being changed on a tv, but the thread of the story is continuous throughout, even as the channels are changing! The odd thing is you don't realize you've been "watching" another channel until the set has been switched back to the original! All via the genius of William S. Burroughs.
"Exterminate all rational thought.".......2005-07-14
Like many people, I first heard about William S. Burroughs by way of "Naked Lunch." I don't know what I was expecting to find in this book that wasn't in that one, but I can say quite comfortably that it wasn't here. Saying it that way probably makes my opinion of the book sound worse than it really is, but I stand by it. The problems with this book mainly relate to the lack of thematic consistency between sections. This might sound like a rather absurd criticism of Burroughs (after all, some would argue the whole point of his work in general goes against holistic consistency) but I intend to qualify what I mean. In "Naked Lunch," for example, most vignettes relate at least superficially to the notion of control and how it can be abused. That's the reason why the "cut-up" method of "Naked Lunch" worked so well and why the cut-up method of "Exterminator!" does not. "Exterminator!" is truly cut up with the various vignettes alternating between the trite and inane to the overtly political and back again. As I finished this book, I was left with a feeling of profound dissatisfaction: there are some truly brilliant moments in this book ("From Here To Eternity," "Wind Die. You Die. We Die.," the eponymous opening story, the satires of Scientology, and so forth) but most of the rest of the sections miss their marks entirely. There is a true lack of artistic focus here that hinders Burroughs's words more than any obscene content (which, arguably, abounds in "Exterminator!") could ever hope to do. I could conceivably recommend this book to die-hard Burroughs fans (owing to the aforementioned sections and those like them) but casual readers need not apply.
Cold Lost Marbles.......2002-10-24
This book is pretty good. I was surprised to see a few bad reviews for something which seems to hold good amount of merit, especially in comparison to most. Of course, it's not Ulysses, or even Burroughs's best. It's simply good.
Exterminator!, The Colonel Issues DE, Cold Lost Marbles, and The Perfect Servant have been my favorite passages since I first read it. The book is hilarious if you can manage to analytically wipe the opaque layer of genius-dirt from the neglected window obscuring Burroughs's warm, cozy, funny soul.
A freaky, fractured vision.......2002-08-13
The back cover of William S. Burroughs' "Exterminator!" describes the book as an "experimental novel." Because of the book's fragmented, mosaic-like structure, I think you could also describe it as a collection of experimental prose fragments. It's a blend of science fiction, political satire, and linguistic theory, punctuated by violence and gay sex. Burroughs sometimes uses language that mirrors cinematic techniques.
If there's a plot in here, it eluded me. Along the way the reader will encounter a secret agent, a pest exterminator, Scientology, the queen of England, and John Genet. "Exterminator!" is often outrageous and absurd; it feels at times like Burroughs is just writing to amuse himself.
Book Description
Superman. Batman. Wonder Woman. The Flash. Green Lantern.
They are the world's greatest super heroes, _ghting endlessly against corruption and injustice. Each of them is a formidable opponent of evil, but banded together their powers are unmatched. Ever ready, they stand united as the --
JUSTICE LEAGUE of AMERICA
When a mass outbreak of super-powered individuals threatens the world, the JLA determines that latent metahuman abilities are being triggered by an alien contagion, one that's spreading throughout Earth as it transforms its hosts into monstrous engines of destruction. Racing to contain the infection, the world's greatest super heroes link the parasitic plague to an alien invasion from the team's earliest days and make a horrifying discovery: the JLA itself is responsible for the imminent disaster they now face.
Customer Reviews:
Super Reader.......2007-08-07
The culmination of the Justice League of America series finally brings us to the mega-teamup novel.
For some reason, ordinary people around the globe are being given super powers.
Finally, the JLA realise that there is an alien influence, and what is happening may be because of a very bad mistake they made in the past.
It takes a friendship made by The Flash and Green Lantern over a beer or two with one of the new metahumans to help resolve this crisis.
Good escapist fun, but nothing spectacular about this book.......2007-05-14
This book is actually decently well written (probably owing in part to the fact that Christopher Golden is actually a legitimate author in his own right rather than a comic book writer who is trying his hand on a novel). The plot is a bit ridiculous, but what do you expect from a book like this?
The story takes a couple twists along the way, but the basic premise is that 10 years ago there was a mysterious rainfall in the U.K. which caused several people to first develop super powers, and later mutate into giant monsters.
Since American comic books tend to be rather American centric, it is a nice change of pace to have a bunch of British characters popping up in the story. (When you think about it, it is kind of strange that in the world of comics almost all the beings with super powers tend to be located in the U.S of A.) Although it would be interesting to run this book by a British friend to see what they think of it. At times I wondered if the colloquial Britishisms used in this book weren't a bit forced. The literary equivalent of Hollywood's bad fake accents perhaps.
("Look mate, give it up already. You tried the bloody shotgun, you silly git. You think a blade's gonna do any more damage than that?"
Graff spat, and then laughed, more than a little lunacy in his voice. "Which one are you? Where's your costume?"
Bryan shrugged. "Don't need one. Not a soddin' superhero, am I?")
The character of Ian Partington, ordinary Brit who develops super powers, and then quickly becomes best friends with everyone in the Justice League, makes me wonder if this book would be classified under what the fans call a "Mary-Sue" story. But it never quite reaches the level of obnoxious.
For the most part this book focuses on the main Justice League characters. (Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Aquaman, Flash). In the 3rd act some of the lesser known superheros of the DC Universe make a brief appearance (the Justice Society, the Justice league Reserves, the Titans) but 90% of this book is just the standard JLA.
I enjoy these comic book novels as a light guilty pleasure, but I think if they are going to succeed as an industry, DC is going to have to cater more to the hard core fan base, and publish books about the more minor characters in the DC universe, or explore themes that haven't been done to death a million times before. To be fair I think they have been moving more in that direction recently. (This book is already a couple years old.) But too many parts of this book was based on comic book cliches for my taste. I mean, how often do we have to be told that Batman is a moody guy who slips in and out of shadows, or that Wonder Woman is a dazzling amazon beauty?
Pure Narrative JLA.......2005-10-17
Ever wondered what the JLA would be like without the art? This book gives you the chance to experience it. Mr. Golden does a very laudable job of rendering these icons in prose and conveying their actions blow by blow to the reader.
The work touches upon many different characters throughout the DCU and gives you some truly interesting and enjoyable insights into the minds of many of the JLA's core members. I can honestly say that it enriched my concept and understanding of the JLA and it's members.
Christopher Golden is "Golden".......2005-08-09
I really enjoyed this novel. It has an imaginative storyline, and it is very well-written. I've read many JLA and other superhero novels and have to say this is one of my favs. Christopher Golden put to work not only the core members of the league but many reserve members(and even the JSA and the Teen Titans) as well which added a lot of substance to the story. The characterization is on target. Even if just a small part of the story, I especially liked the inclusion of everyday "normalcy" with Clark and Lois and Wally and Linda.
Mature Ensemble Piece.......2005-07-22
The 4th book in the JLA series is the first that focuses on the core members as a group rather than highlighting one member. As well we see the extended JLA family and other DC heroes called in when things get to be too much for the core five members to handle on their own.
The effective use of the ensemble cast alone makes it a good work. Enhancing it further is the maturity of the themes. We get some looks differing philosophies of the JLA members in regards to acceptable treatment of villains. We get to see the JLA work under duress, not finding an optimal solution, not liking that the solution is not optimal but doing what needs to be done at the time.
At the end of the day the world is saved, but it is not joyous. The League wonders about their methods and second guesses themselves seriously. This fact and the character interactions of the heroes and the newly blossoming meta-humans make this work more mature and better than the previous novels in the series.
Not necessarily a fun read, but it is a good one with things to think about.

It comes with little papers where your wishes can be written down, rolled up and put into a little pocket on the back of the minatue angel doll. The booklet is written well and is simple to understand with great suggestions to teach you how to pray, meditate, and communicate with your guardian angel. This makes a great gift to lift the spirits of friends and especially angel lovers.

Book Description
The three beautifully and thoughtfully crafted books in this slipcased set: My Guardian Angel, My Fairy Godmother, and My Magical Mermaid represent Samara Anjelae's first offering in a picture book format. Her insightful and inspirational text and Martha-Elizabeth Ferguson's elegant artwork complement each other and capture attention on every page. The text--in an easily readable font--is set in frames or windows, except in the fairy book (and, of course, we all know fairies are supposed to be unpredictable). Throughout, Anjelae incorporates interesting facts, an alphabet, likes and dislikes, universal truths, and other fascinating information. Endpapers set the stage for each book. My Magical Mermaid has an exquisite undersea world with fish, shells, flowing seaweed, and mermaid castles. My Fairy Godmother begins with a woodsy scene of a fairy ring of mushrooms highlighted with bird feathers, dragonflies, and all the things fairies like. My Guardian Angel opens with a palette of soft, celestial colors shading into bold purples, blues, pinks, and greens. The matte covers and high quality paper enhance the glorious colors and subject matter; particularly outstanding is the double-page spread of intricate painted gold circles in My Guardian Angel, symbolizing the grandeur of halos.

Spiritual Essence.......1999-12-21
One of the things I enjoyed was how simple the book explained the Spiritual Essence of Angels. Throughout the book as you read, you'll begin comparing and finding similarites between what the author wrote and what you're experiencing. It's also good if you don't have the time to read because it's a small sized book yet it contains so much interesting information.
