Paul Signac, 1863-1935
ASIN: 0810943662 |
Book Description
A leader in the Neo-Impressionist movement, the French painter Paul Signac (1863-1935) is best known for the intense color effects in his oil landscapes and marine canvases. However, it is in his largely unknown graphic works on paper-the precise black-and-white sketches and fluid watercolors that filled his sketchbooks, and that are published here for the first time-that his evolution as an artist emerges. This catalogue raisonn-designed to accompany the first exhibition of 133 of Signac's watercolors and drawings-is the only book in print on this well-loved artist.
Presenting Signac's graphic oeuvre in its entirety, the stunning volume serves as a visual diary, tracing his life, his travels, and his artistic explorations, capturing his passion for boats and water, and providing a new understanding of this important artist. 157 illustrations, 140 in full color, 11 x 93_4"
MARINA FERRETTI BOCQUILLON has organized many international exhibitions on Impressionism and Post-Impressionism. She is the author of several essays and previous catalogues on Signac, as well as many articles on 19th-century art.
CHARLES CACHIN, a physician, contributes insights gleaned both as the artist's son-in-law and from his lifelong interest in Signac's work. TOWNSEND WOLFE is director and chief curator of the Arkansas Arts Center, Little Rock.
EXHIBITION SCHEDULE Arkansas Arts Center, Little Rock Feb. 19-Apr. 9, 1999

A Good Book but Not Enough to Ensure Success .......2007-07-08
I can't complain about this book, it helped me get started. After running the gambit of get rich quick scams and schemes, I started selling used books on Amazon, and made more than $20,000 my first year. So, if your skeptical about whether or not this is a real business opportunity, don't be. It really works! However, there are some things, like the history of online selling, that some of us don't have time for, and so many of the early books (including this one), don't cover all of the tools available to help sellers find and buy top-dollar books. Because of this, a few years into my success, I ended up writing my own guide, to discuss things I found lacking in other books, sparing no secrets I've learned along the way. Windwalker's book, and others, contain many step-by-step directions, and sample confirmation letters, etc., so all the set-up work is done for you. But, I haven't found a book that includes real life examples, of successful sellers, and their business/buying models. So, I decided to include profiles of different sellers and their techniques and strategies, along with a comprehensive list of real book titles, and keys to help the newcomer learn to identify books that you can buy-low and sell-high. This is one of the biggest keys to success, yet, even after reading some of the best books available, most of us start out with a few paragraphs about identifyng top-dollar books, that are sitting right under our nose at used bookstores, Goodwill, Friends of Library Stoes, and you name it. I'm sorry to ultimately be plugging my own book, when this book helped me get started and is a first rate book, but I did my best to make sure my books was the most inclusive and the information tangible, gearing it to the stay-at-home mm, because it's developed to make the most money in the least amount of time (which are two things mom's are short of), but this quality ultimately makes it perfect for anyone wanting to make the money it takes to sustain yourself and your family with a home-based, low-risk, low-overhead, low-investment, high-profit business.
Christine Miller author of How to Sell Used Books on Amazon: The Stay-at-Home Mom's Secret Step-by-Step Guide (from setting up your account, to navigating the website, contacting customers, finding, recognizing, and selling top-dollar books, and much more)
Outstanding Book for Amazon Book Sellers.......2007-05-17
This book gave me clear ideas on how to set up a book selling business. There were also many helpful tips on how to improve a business that is already going. I would buy it again.
Valuable Advice .......2007-05-13
Book is exactly as title describes it...complete. Very useful. Very helpful. Author writes clearly and precisely. If you wish to sell books online, this is a "must have".

I haven't had a chance to finish this book yet but so far it looks like it will be very helpful. It arrived on time and in excellent condition.

Book Description
Streetsweepers is the newest, most comprehensive book out on combat shotguns, covering single- and double-barreled, slide-action, semiauto and rotary-cylinder shotguns, plus a chapter on grenade launchers you can mount on your weapon and info about shotgun models not yet on the market. Noted gun writer Duncan Long also advises on which ammo to use, accessories and combat shotgun tactics.
Customer Reviews:
Not all shotguns are for hunting.......2004-05-16
Although first published in 1987, the book is a timeless classic for anyone wanting to know about shotguns for urban warfare (i.e. home defense). It covers the history of offensive and defensive use of shotguns, ammunition, tactics, indoor combat and a host of other related subjects. This is not just another one of those cheap throwaway books with lots of pictures and model descriptions. The text is substantive, well written and authoritative. It's just about everything you want to know about non-hunting uses for shotguns (but were afraid to ask).
Book Description
The author (a marketing writer/antique dealer with Lyme Disease) helps collectors explore low energy ways of selling antiques, from malls to eBay. She describes her own journey from mystery illness and pink slip to diagnosis, antique shop, and eBay store.
Customer Reviews:
Excellent eBay Tutorial/How to Buy and Sell Antiques.......2006-12-03
Micki Suzanne has written a most informative book on how to make eBay work for you. She explains the eBay process from top to bottom with helpful hints on how to buy, sell and open an eBay store. I have been buying and selling on eBay for over seven years and have a feedback rating of over 4400 and I gained valuable information on procedures that I never knew existed.
I have also become interested in the buying and selling of antiques and, again, this book hit a home run. Micki's knowledge and practical applications can make you money. She knows the antique business inside and out. Micki's warmth and good humor are evident in her writing style. She is a giver, not a taker. I am glad I purchased this book.
Making the best of a bad situation.......2006-09-09
"I've been sick from Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia for three years. I'm housebound for the most part and have many items I could sell and make some much needed cash. "Sick Mick's guide" is very easy to read and follow. She explains many of the processes by talking about her own experiences. You can tell she understands what it is like to live with limitations.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking to make some money and not have to expend a lot of energy to do it. I found that some of her ideas were off-the-wall, some brand new, and some I already did. It is full of amusing anecdotes from finding an insect on her leg to coping with Lyme and Chronic Fatigue. I often found myself saying, "Me too!" It is most comforting to know I am not alone in this illness and this way of life." Susan Schwartz, Operating Room RN, Richmond, VA USA
Sick Mick's Guide to Selling Andtiques and Collectables.......2006-09-01
Practical and often hilarious this guide is a have-to for small business owners and e-bay sellers. Told in a conversational tone, you are guided step by easy step through the process of selling your treasures.
Knocked back with lyme disease, Micki rallys and takes up the sword to help others in simular situations to have a successful business.
Very enjoyable and an easy read.

Small Arms of the World: A Basic Manual of Small Arms .......2006-05-18
Small Arms of the World: A Basic Manual of Small Arms
is a classic. it is one of the best fireames books ever made, it is a real pity that it is out of print. they realy should rerelease it, I know I would buy it.
But until that happens I'll just have to keep getting it from the library.
If I could only have one firearms book I would choose this book hands down.
A great classic.......2005-11-07
My Dad bought this book when I was a kid over thirty years ago. He never got as much out of it as I did. I'd spend hours looking at the many firearms listed in this large volume. It got me started in collecting old military arms and I refer to it still to this day.
Title for a review.......2005-07-07
This was purchased as a gift for a person that had been looking for it for several years; he is very pleased with it!
About as good as it gets.......2002-07-14
I highly recommend these Small Arms of the World books, due to the good coverage of Curio and Relic firearms, how you can take them apart to clean them, how they operate, pictures of individual weapons, interesting diargrams of some popular guns, and just simply the most information you are going to get on semi-automatic and full automatic firearms, at least that I can find. Seems that especially machine gun technology is some kind of restricted information somehow, at least in newer books, but at least these Small Arms books can help a former U.S. Army machine gunner like myself understand a little better how the guns I was checked out on,actually worked in principle. So, if your quest for knowledge is machine guns, then I defintely recommend these books. And if your quest for knowledge is Curio and Relic classified firearms, then especially the older versions of the Small Arms books are what you need. The newer ones kind of water down really old technology, while paying special emphasis on what was hot technology at the time, like a early seventies Small Arms will talk in depth on current American small arms like the M16, but will have minimal space on bolt action rifles, for instance.
I definitely recommend the 1969 9th edition as a good all around "get you by", if you just wanted one edition on older Curio and Reic Firearms, if you are a collector of Curios and Relics like me.
Important To Have.......2000-12-03
For the person interested in modern military small arms, this book is the place to start. It presents the material well, with good photographs, understandable diagrams, and interesting text. Hopefully an updated version will come out someday, but I don't think anyone will regret buying this one now. In fact, I have an older edition from the 1960's that I treasure for it's better coverage of now-obsolete firearms, special emphasis on World War 2 German designs, and more complete history of firearms through the centuries. This edition, on the other hand, gives more attention to weapons developed during the 1960's and 1970's. No doubt, after some future edition finally brings us up to date on modern high-tech weaponry this book will still be a valuable snapshot of the variety of arms in use throughout the world during the final decades of the 20th Century.
I highly recommend this book as the starting point for a good understanding of the small arms field, or as plain old good reading for the relatively technical-minded gun enthusiast.

Yes, I think I can (Now)!.......2000-04-27
This book has a tremendous amount of information and encouragement for the quilter who has even thought about taking their skills into the marketplace. There are step-by-step instructions, interviews with commercial quilters, and lots of ideas for where and how to use your skills to start and maintain a business based on quilting. I had always wondered if I could make a go of it as a quilter for hire, and after reading this book I am indeed ready to go down the road to making a living from quilting which just happens to include my favorite past time of sewing. I will definitely be including this book on my bookshelf for reference in the days, weeks, months, and years to come!

Covers all the bases........1999-10-03
Ms. Peake's comprehensive guide to starting a homebased antiques business was very helpful. Not only does she cover the basics of overhead and markup, as well as possible sources of antiques for resale, but she also addresses a number of important considerations before one even thinks about getting into the business. (A love of antiques and the "thrill of finding a treasure at a bargain price" are simply not enough to make a successful business.) This book is a must-read for anyone considering opening an antiques shop, homebased or otherwise.

Book Description
In the early days of television, people attempted to protect themselves from the new machines with bright talismans--creative lamps that provided back light that was believed to protect the eyes. These lamps took on fantastic forms, the most popular among them being panthers and other animals like Siamese cats. They came in any number of forms, though, and sometimes doubled as vases or planters. Herein nearly 400 photos explore the many forms of TV lamps, from a barnyard full of horses, roosters, ducks, and swans, to all manner of conveyances like boats, wagons, and cars, and an international collection of people and faces. Current market values are provided for the collector and antiques dealer.
