Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.
Book Description
Winner of the National Book Award for Fiction
Introduction by Jhumpa Lahiri
Bernard Malamud's first book of short stories, The Magic Barrel, has been recognized as a classic from the time it was published in 1959. The stories are set in New York and in Italy (where Malamud's alter ego, the struggleing New York Jewish Painter Arthur Fidelman, roams amid the ruins of old Europe in search of his artistic patrimony); they tell of egg candlers and shoemakers, matchmakers, and rabbis, in a voice that blends vigorous urban realism, Yiddish idiom, and a dash of artistic magic.
The Magic Barrel is a book about New York and about the immigrant experience, and it is high point in the modern American short story. Few books of any kind have managed to depict struggle and frustration and heartbreak with such delight, or such artistry.

Book Exactly as Described-Fast Delivery.......2006-12-02
I was looking for a hard to find book in large print. I was shocked to see that they were selling a new edition for about $1.57. I was skeptical but for the price took a chance and was amazed to find that I received exactly what was described in perfect brand new condition. The delivery time was also very, very fast. I'll check out their WEB site in the future for more extraordinary values.

Magic Malamud .......2006-12-01
Malamud does three or four tricks in his fiction well, and here he does each one to utter perfection. And when taken together, this collection of stories almost transcends Malamud's normal limits: the stories are compressed, short, and below the surface, charged with almost unbearable tension. Unlike other collections of stories (or when you read too many Malamud stories) Malamud does not parody himself in the Magic Barrell. Everything is where it is supposed to be, and works like a well oiled machine. It is a shame that (as of writing this) only eight people have reviewed this masterpiece of a short story collection. In Roth's The Ghost Writer, Zuckerman explains that the world's morality has already passed by the E.I. Lonoff's (a character based on Malamud). Seems Roth was correct... and this is true even more today, thirty years after the publication of The Ghost Writer. We no longer live in Malamud's world, and it is a shame.
50 years later, still relevant.......2006-03-18
These stories about New York, even when read fifty years later by someone like me from a totally different demographic, in Los Angeles, are still relevant. There are universal self-loathing themes for all immigrants, at all times. I wouldn't call it immigrant lit, but it's more like human diaspora lit, the transience of people, and how people make sense, however limited, of the world around them. Strongly recommend. Malamud is able to make writing about trash untrashy, but not in a falsely glorifying way, but in a humanizing way. These are real short stories, not failed novellas.
Small sad suffering and quiet beauty .......2004-10-12
These stories are pervaded with a certain sadness and disappointment, a sense of life as largely a trial in suffering. They are also however deep in a kind of quiet beauty, a unique language of slightly Yiddishized American colloquial restraint. The title story, and the most famous one tells of the hopes and disappointments of poor Jews seeking to find their ' bashert' their destined mate. It touches upon the world of tormented souls selling illusions to themselves and others. It really moves us with the sense of how the dreams of life turn bitterness into greater bitterness, with longing disappointment beauty. These stories are for those who are willing to read and take inspiration from the sadnesses of life, that nonetheless enrich our human meaning.
BORING!.......2004-10-06
I would suggest before sitting down to read this book that you brew a large pot of coffee. Or better yet, don't sit down to read it at all. This is dry stuff!
Customer Reviews:
The Malamud story.......2006-02-08
There is a low- key quality to the Malamud story. It often makes it ways quietly , at times with a Yiddish -English voice. A Malamud story can often make you smile, and has little perceptions and ironies. But it can also have grotesqueries in it, of incident or character. A Malamud story is always seeking somehow the heart of the human, and this it often finds in varieties of sadness and disappointment. Illusions, and dreams often turn reality into unexpected meetings. In Malamud 's most famous story, "The Magic Barrel" there is a picture of how poor and strained human hearts in longing , hope and fail.

SAT words.......2007-06-15
This book was invaluable, couldn't believe how many of these words were on the actual test.
Umm...this is pretty good but..........2007-05-23
This is a pretty good vorcabulary learning book but not every word has a picture to go along with it and it's sometimes confusing to follow along with the picture. You also need to be dedcated to learning these vorcabulary because not every word can be remebered through pictures.
Best Method for Learning Words.......2007-05-22
The author's technique really works. We tried other books in our homeschool but none of them worked as effectively as this one. The visual imagery, stories, and funny pronounciations help make each word very memorable.
I still remember words from sixth grade!.......2007-01-09
When I was in sixth grade, my English teacher used this book to teach us vocabulary. It had fun cartoons and a really great tone, but most importantly, it worked. Each word was turned into what it sounded like. For example, the word "volatile" became "volley tile." The cartoon would have a drawing of people playing a game of a new sport called volley tile, which was like volleyball, except instead of a ball, there was a tile that could blow up at any time, demonstrating the definition of the word. This was in sixth grade, people. I don't even remember my teacher's name in the sixth grade, but I do remember the definition of volatile, embellishment, penchant, and the list goes on. This book's devices are incredible and really fun, and they truly make learning vocabulary painless, I promise.
Great tool .......2005-10-23
I am an AVID teacher and am preparing my students for the SAT. After I started using this book my students now think that learning Vocab is fun! When have you ever heard a high school student say that vocab is fun? I highly recommend this book!

Key to Forever (Draycott Abbey Series).......2006-11-10
Couldn't put it down! Love the ghost and the cat.
Love is Forever - That IS the Key.......2002-08-15
This is my 3rd and will not be my last as I have become quite a fan of Ms. Skyes stories. Alexei Cameron of Gypsy blood, and a British Earl is an extraordinary hero in this latest novel from the very gifted Christina Skye.
Joanna Russell, a beautiful tour guide at the wonderous Draycott Abbey along with being an expert on ancient weaponry, had known the man five years prior, but he went under the name of Alexei Turov and he was an artist who made incredible swords. He also made incredible love, but Joanna could not trust him nor herself then, or now. He was a fever in her blood now as he was then and she had too many secrets that could not be shared, and much too much to lose should her secrets come out.
This is an exciting story, with plenty of sensual delights, mystery and secrets galore, with treachery and betrayals and non-stop excitement. It is a story that begs to have a happy ending as you see two people so scarred and hurt that trust was a foreign word to them.
Key to Forever is so very hard to put down. Gypsies, palm reading, and a mystery concerning Mary Queen of Scots - what an exciting adventure!! AND let us not forget our wonderful resident ghosts, Adrian, Gray, and Gideon. A rare book that makes you feel great during and after the read. I really loved these two - Alexei and Joanna - the chemistry between them was really hot and their love scenes sizzling. An EXCELLENT read and really worth buying.
Draycott Abbey Series.......2000-12-19
I have read all of the books in this series and can't WAIT for more! The two main couples in the series..the human Kacey & Nicholas and the ghosts Adrian & Gray are such a wonderful mix of past and future. Every time I read one of these books it transports me back to the time of Castles & Knights. I hope there are many more books to come! BRAVO Christina!

Another great romance from the Queen of Romances Chirtina Skye. Whenever I buy her books I am always sure that I will love reading them even more than three times and Key to Forever certainly does not disappoint me. The story is full of action, love, passion , intrigue and so much more. The characters are very likeable as all Ms Skye's characters are and they are both tortured and in need of rescue. There is really no need for me to add much more other than that this books,as all other Christina Skye's books, is perfect for all of those who like their romances spiced up with an element of danger, and full of action blended perfectly with romance. A MUST READ!
I have read all "Draycott Abbey" series and am hooked........1999-03-09
I love the series. They have all the suspense, occult, and romance one needs to truly enjoy reading. I can't wait for the next installment in the series. I have gotten a co-worker interested in this series also.

Loads of good in there!.......2006-09-16
Garry Keeps you interested with his stories ,and this makes his books fun to keep picking back up.
I greatly value the understanding I gained from "Love is a decision".
Garry makes easy understanding of some of the most difficult relationship concepts.
This book will help couples avoid or recover from pitfalls or breakdowns.
His messages ARE ENHANCED by his religious conviction.
terrible advice.......2006-06-19
Standard paternalistic fluff from
a fundamentalist perspective.
Smalley is primarily a marriage counselor, and he may have a few good ideas. Overall, however, an extreme religious conservatism colors all of his thinking. Especially noxious is his endless carrying-on about "spanking" in his parenting materials.
Gary is an extreme example of authoritarian Christian parenting-he makes Dr. Dobson seem like Dr. Spock by comparison. If you need pop-psychology advice for relationships or parenting, I would recommend Dr. Phil McGraw by light-years over Gary Smalley.

This books help you to motivate yourself........1999-10-03
It took me a while to read this book, but I did. The one thing that this book did for me was to get me to use all my time wisely. The book was very thorough even though not all the situations the author referred to applied to me. The reason I wanted this book was because I'm in high school, I used to put off all my homework until late at night and I wasn't doing anything else productive with my time. Now, I'm on the cross-country team and I'm getting more sleep than I used to. I feel more confident. I wonder if the other poeple who reviewed the book even read it because the book does a good job of helping you understand yourself better. If you want to stop procrastinating and won't put off reading the book, get it.
not very helpful.......1999-06-25
How do you overcome procrastination? The author takes a whole book to say, in effect, "Just do it." Thanks. If that worked, my mother would have broken me of my habit when I was twelve.
