Book Description
This repack of Randy Alcorn's gripping bestseller delivers us from ignorance of the devil's schemes. Foulgrin, a high-ranking demon, instructs his subordinate on how to deceive and destroy Jordan Fletcher and his family. It's like placing a bugging device in hell's war room, where we overhear our enemies assessing our weaknesses and strategizing attack. Lord Foulgrin's Letters is a Screwtape Letters for our day, equally fascinating yet destinctly different -- a dramatic story with earthly characters, setting, and plot. A creative, insightful, and biblical depiction of spiritual warfare, this book will guide readers to Christ-honoring counterstrategies for putting on the full armor of God and resisting the devil. Alcorn says to win the battle we must know our God, know ourselves, and know our enemy. Lord Foulgrin's Letters, in unparalleled and compelling fashion, helps us better know each.

Eye Opener.......2007-07-12
This is an eye opener. I highly recommend this book. ONE person gave it a negative review and THAT review actually promted me to get this book because everyone else seemed to like it. Well, let's just say that the majority rules in my opinion. C S Lewis set the stage and introduced an awesome concept and is clearly a master. But Alcorn brings it home for today and even honors Lewis a bit in this book. Gotta get it!
Lord Foulgrin's Letters.......2007-01-05
While I enjoyed the book and got a lot from it, it wasn't a page burner for me. It was interesting to see how the enemy twists and uses our human flaws for his good. It really shows the spiritual battle that is always raging on around us. It makes me think about guarding my mind, heart, eyes, and ears from things. If you've wanted to read C.S. Lewis' Screwtape Letters, but just couldn't get through them, then this is a good read for you.
Christian novels of this calibre are far and few between.......2006-05-23
I have read hundreds of books, and never have I walked away feeling a deep sense of satisfaction. Make your guardian angels' job a lot easier, read this book, and stare the devil in the face. Reading this book made me realize how powerful and powerless the devil is. The devil is the father of ALL lies, the bible says. Any and all lies, great and small, are from the devil. Amazing how easy it is to forget that. Like the other reviews on here state, read this book!
A real "eyes in the back of your head" opener.......2005-07-25
"Know your enemy. Read his mail." is what is stated on the back cover...and that is exactly what you get! This book shows you that the things you overlook everyday, those little challenges to your walk, are not just a coincidence. A man I greatly respect once said, "There is no angel named Coincidence", and Lord Foulgrin's definately proves it. I can't tell you how many things this book has made me realize about spiritual warfare. It is happening, and the niave will take that gentle slope, without sharp turns, down to that unhappy place that they don't want to believe really exists.
Poorly written and unoriginal attempt at copying a master.......2005-07-16
My rating says it all. I believe this man is guilty of a literary crime. But more pointedly, this book was a dreadful waste of time and money. Firstly, any author who tries to copy a literary giant like C.S. Lewis already has before himself a daunting task. And Alcorn wasin no way up to it. His writing is flat and unoriginal. His plot is predictable and contrived. This book lacked the profound insight and depth of Lewis' "Screwtape Letters". Worse yet, the most interesting lines in Alcorn's copy were lifted straight from Lewis. Lewis' drama seems to emanate from deep personal struggle and insight while Alcorn's is nothing more than a made-for-TV movie. This was the first and only book I have of Randy Alcorn. Suffice it to say, after I use it for kindling, it will be the last.
If my rant sounds harsh, it's just because as a "young" Christian, I find the boorishness and shallowness of most contemporary Christian literature both annoying and stupefying. Where are the insightful Christian writers of today? Is there no one who can capture the gravity of the Christian struggle or the philosohical depth of Romans? The best advice I can give anyone is to read the early Church fathers, the writings of C.S. Lewis and the Christian classics such as Bunyan. It seems anything written since Bonhoeffer is just a tragic waste of time.
Book Description
Award-winning author Cherry Adair broke thrilling new ground with On Thin Ice–her stunning romantic suspense hardcover debut. Now Cherry’s turning up the temperature, amping up the action, and raising the degree of danger and desire to irresistibly hot new heights.
Diamonds–jewels of every kind, in fact–are Taylor Kincaid’s best friends. The only thing she enjoys more is the challenge of stealing them, at which she excels like few others in the world. And specializing in plundering precious stones from wealthy international criminals just makes it all the more satisfying . . . and dangerously exciting. So for Taylor, there’s no resisting the double allure of snatching the elusive Blue Star diamonds–a prize she has pursued across three continents–from the South American stronghold of the murderous Morales terrorist organization.
The heist goes down without a hitch. Until Taylor discovers she has made off with more than she bargained for, namely the secret security-system codes that provide access to a South African diamond mine–packed with enough gems to sink a battleship. Suddenly, Taylor’s no longer just an ultrachic freelance jewel thief, but a reluctant player in a high-stakes cat-and-mouse game against elite global trouble-shooters and bloodthirsty terrorists.
There’s nothing reluctant, however, about Huntington St. John, the top T-FLAC operative who’s hot on Taylor’s trail. And in Taylor’s opinion, just plain hot. The feeling, emotional and otherwise, is very mutual. Though they’re on opposite sides of the law, Hunt and Taylor swiftly come to appreciate each other’s well-honed skills. But since ecstasy is fleeting, and diamonds are forever, Taylor soon slips from the sheets and hits the streets . . . to reclaim the jewels she stashed overseas. And true to his name, Hunt is close behind–but this time, he’s after more than the codes. With the clock ticking, and two groups of terrorists closing fast, they’ll have to mix pleasure with some very risky business. If they can survive danger at every turn, outwit the ultimate high-tech security system, and somehow conquer each other . . . they just might get everything they desire.

Disappointing.......2007-07-16
Am I the only one who has read this book and didn't have questions about the ending? Our heroine Taylor is attacked by a Black Rose terrorist, with Savage, a female T-FLAC operative, appearing to be part of the attack. Later, in what appears to be her deathbed, Taylor tries to mumble Savage's name, but is too weak. Taylor, of course rallies and wins the day, but Savage's role is not brought up again. I felt sure the author was going to write in Savage as the head of the Black Rose group in the end, which seemed to be where the story was headed. Instead, Taylor conveniently forgot to mention it again once the hero came into the hospital room and proposed. Unless Ms. Adair plans to continue the story in a future T-FLAC story, I thought the end to be disappointing without that final resolution.

Cherry Adair has made a name for herself with the exciting series of T-FLAC books. Each story, featuring a hot, sexy operative of this privately funded, top-secret, anti-terrorist group has the twists and turns of an action-adventure novel and the steam of a high-powered Jacuzzi. HOT ICE is no different, with Huntington "Hunt" St. John taking center stage, attempting to gain intel on a terrorist madman named Jose Morales.
Morales, a man who believes that anyone who disagrees with his beliefs deserves to die, has been amassing jewels, art, and weapons in an underground mine for years. Hunt, assigned to find out when Morales attends to strike the world's population, needs to open the top-of-the-line safe in his domain to gather the computer disks that are there-he's sure that those disks hold all of the information he needs to deter Morales and his mission. The problem is that he needs someone who can open the supposedly uncrackable safe, and there's only one person who can do that-Taylor Kincaid, a jewel thief and safe cracker who is thought to be the best in the world.
Unfortunately, before Hunt can reach Taylor and plead for her assistance, Taylor is arrested in San Cristobel for breaking into the home of-you guessed it-Jose Morales. Now Hunt believes he has the ultimate power chip to get Taylor to help him-he'll bail her out of jail if she gives him the computer disks that she stole. Taylor , of course, plays dumb, assuring Hunt that she has no idea what he's talking about. But when Morales's henchmen come to pay her a visit, Taylor has second thoughts on holding out on Hunt. After all, the man with the power and resources of T-FLAC behind him might be the only person who can keep her alive long enough to bring down the terrorist.
Ms. Adair has penned another sexually charged winner. The action-adventure part of the story is top-notch, with believable characters and situations that will have you rooting for the good guys and crying for the downfall of Morales and his men. The sexual chemistry between Hunt and Taylor isn't necessarily instantaneous, but it's an integral part of the story. Neither one of them is sure that they can truly trust the other, and the situations they find themselves in only add to the age-old idiom of whether they really love each other or are just responding to the danger around them.
I did miss seeing the Wright brothers in HOT ICE, the operatives from the previous T-FLAC stories, but Hunter St. John is an intriguing and sexy new hero, and his alternate aloofness and genuine caring made for an intriguing story. Taylor is a woman that reminds you of Lara Croft in Tomb Raider or a non-vampire-fighting Buffy, and her slow nature of trusting added depth and emotion to the storyline. All in all, HOT ICE is definitely a book to pick up-you won't be disappointed!
Hot Ice.......2007-02-23
Taylor Kincaid is a woman with a job that requires many faces. Breaking into and stealing from a supposedly fool proof safe, leads to her arrest in a foreign country. Rescue comes in the form of a striking, hardened man with a decidedly delicious British accent. While Taylor is attracted to this man, Huntington St. John, she can't afford to let him get to her enough to break down her defenses and give him the answers he is seeking. Finally out-waiting him, Taylor handcuffs him to the bed, knocks him across the temple with a lamp and escapes into the night.
Huntington St. John is on a mission for T-FLAC, his covert employer. Having followed and hunted Taylor Kincaid and her other 15 aliases for months, he is close to grabbing her. Watching the jail where she has been ensconced on theft charges, he waits until her guards return her to her cell before he tears a hole in the wall and carries her away to safety. Once they are at the safe house, Taylor tries to throw Hunt off her scent but to know avail. However, when he lets his guard down enough to doze off, Taylor sets herself free and promptly disappears once more.
More is afoot than either Taylor or Hunt realize. A secret society wants what Taylor has and will stop nothing short of death in order to achieve their mission. Because of this, Hunt and Taylor must watch every move they make because it just might be their last if the bad guys have anything to say about it. One thing they don't count on? Their mutual attraction to each other.
Hot Ice was truly an action packed romantic suspense novel. I found the story line very intriguing and enjoyed every word that I read. It kept me on the edge of my seat and I couldn't read it fast enough to find out what was going to happen next. Cherry Adair's depiction of Huntington St. John was so realistic I can hear his sexy voice in my head. I found Taylor resilient and an extremely fun female lead.
While I don't normally read romantic suspense novels, I am officially hooked on this storyline and plan to go back and read the other novels in this series that feature the completely irresistible operatives of T-FLAC. Hot Ice is definitely worthy of being read over and over and then once more for good measure.

and a half stars!! Romance, suspense and a little kookiness!.......2006-11-12
This is the first Cherry Adair book I have read. A friend recommended her books. I liked very much the men of T-FLAC and enjoyed Taylor Kincaid and learning of her "softer" side.
The story begins with Huntington St. John aka "Hunt" in an alley outside a jail cell as he hears the jailers returning and tossing their chain and padlocked encased prisoner to the floor of the cell. It is a renowned and extremely elusive jewel thief that Hunt is after as he needs her help and he also believe she either inadvertently or purposely stole something that was not jewels.
When Hunt breaks Taylor loose, they both discover that she is temporarily blind from the blow to the head. He takes her to a safe house and they both feel some physical attraction. However, Taylor escapes and so Hunt is on the "hunt" again!!
Unbeknownst to Taylor, Hunt is pushed in his moves to find her by a deadline that is fast approaching. How Hunt catches up to and tries to hang on to Taylor was a very exciting and adventurous read!! Also the developing romance, I felt, was well done and not overdone.
I look forward to finding and reading more of Ms. Adair's novels!
Is THIS Chick Lit?.......2006-04-24
This is the most idiotic book I've ever read, and THIS is what women want? Dismay. Dismay.
Ms. Adair seems to have a nipple fixation. Each of the stock sex scenes mentions "nipple" several times.

Not Hot Enough!.......2006-01-28
I think Nora has spoiled me with her more recent writings. "Hot Ice" is an early attempt at suspense and romance, however, it was fairly boring throughout the story when ice cream heiress Whitney MacAllister and professional thief, Douglas Lord meet up. Their travels to find the hidden treasure dating back to the French Revolution and Marie Antoinette take them all the way to Madagascar. I think if Nora had written this story today, it would have been a real cliffhanger because the basic storyline is a good one. There were times during the story that I was actually "hooked" however, those moments were not long enough for this novel to be considered one of her success stories. Whitney is a spoiled rich girl and Doug is the typical good looking, strong, smart and very slick thief in her life. Toward the end of the book, things do get interesting when master mind villain, Dimitri and his bad boys come face to face with our hero and heroine and a long chase through New York, DC, and onto the jungles of Madagascar finally culminates. I enjoyed watching both main characters grow to a certain point by the end of their journey, however, the current sparks that Nora can grab from her audience with her outstanding writing is not in this novel.
Don't waste your money.......2005-07-01
I usually enjoy reading Nora Roberts books when I want a light hearted romantic change of pace. However, I found it difficult to get through this book. I felt like I had to force myself to keep reading. It was a bit too drawn out and even boring in parts. There was a great deal of suspense at times, but in between it lacked the page turning quality that I would have liked.
I noticed that the book was written in 1987 which explains some of it. This had to have been one of her earlier works and certain aspects of the story would never be an option now. For instance, Whitney uses credit cards everywhere to pay for things. In todays day and age we all know that leaving a paper trail when you are trying to elude a powerful enemy is asking for trouble. Other parts, just show their age.
I am sorry to say that this may be the first one of her books that I did not enjoy as much as I had hoped for. It's not even worth checking out from the library. Skip this one. There are plenty of others by this author that are far better.
Not Hot, But Lukewarm!.......2005-05-05
HOT ICE is an interesting tale about a wealthy woman and a first rate thief. Nora Roberts likes to use this premise and has used it in several of her books. However, each has different entwined subplots that make them each unique. She does use a few of the same guidelines:
1. The woman is beautiful and usually wealthy.
2. The thief (usually male) is always gorgeous and street savvy.
I personally am waiting for her to write about a really homely thief and a poor woman; now that would be an interesting concept, right? Ok, so maybe that's why I'm not a published author and Nora Roberts is one of the best!
One of the variances in HOT ICE from her other books is that the race to find treasure begins in Manhattan and ends in Madagascar. The usual trials and tribulations occur: passion trying to be denied, a rival enemy hot on their tails, etc. HOT ICE is more along the lines of pure romance with a little mystery thrown in for balance. In my opinion, Roberts's better efforts have more mystery and less romance, as she's excellent at setting the stage for suspense.
HOT ICE is a good story, but not fantastic. I wouldn't label it a "stop light book" as is my term for a book that is absolutely impossible to put down, so much so that you read a few lines while waiting at a red light in your car! I would much rather recommend MONTANA SKY, SANCTUARY, THE REEF or another more recent Roberts novel. However, if you've already read these and wish to fill some time, this would be the book for you!
The First of Many.......2004-11-08
The first book I've read by Nora Roberts, Hot Ice surely has sold me on this talented author- understandably, a best seller. Through fast paced story telling, multi-dimensional characters and exceptionally detailed settings, Ms. Roberts weaves a tale of adventure, romance and suspense. If you're looking to get swept away into a real page turner, I highly recommend this entertaining, well written book.
Great Book.......2004-07-11
At first I was reluctant to read this book, since I usually don't like books where there is a lot of suspense, and where there is killing, but since it was by Nora Roberts, I decided to give it a chance. I LOVED it. The way she wrote it made you fall in love with the characters. It is impossible to put down once you start, and truly keeps you on the edge of your seat. One of her best books.
Customer Reviews:
Good book but...........2007-04-25
An Air Force pilot on a secret mission is frozen in the ice and is thawed out 45 years in the future. Great premise, different, interesting and enjoyable. Charlie was so heartbreaking with the shock he'd experienced and everything he knew and loved being gone. He tried so hard to adjust to the world as it is today.
I "came of age" during the Women's Movement and I'm definitely liberated. Diana is upset because Charlie puts his hand on her back when they are walking and opens doors for her. I open doors for my sister or my mother or a man who's coming in as I'm going out. A man opening a door for a woman does not mean he's going to throw her over his shoulder, strip off her shoes and plop her in the kitchen with a strand of pearls around her neck and a frying pan in her hand. It's a sign of courtesy and respect. My husband opened the door for me on our first date and 21 years later he still does even if we're in the garage! On the other hand he has no problem going to the grocery store or my painting the outside of the house. What's the big deal?
One of the Best Category Romances I've Read in a Long Time!.......2002-02-28
I've read many of Merline Lovelace's books and this is a new favorite for me. She writes great heroines and this one is no exception. I love a woman who can take care of herself! Charlie is such a sexy hero. The chemistry between them. It's been so long since I've read something really different and fascinating from Silhouette like this. Hot as Ice was such a treat! The plot was original. The hero-adjusting-to-modern-life plot has been done to death in the time travel romances Silhouette and Harlequin published in the mid 90s. It was nice to see Lovelace concentrate on the action and adventure that makes this line special. This story requires some suspension of disbelief but the author made it ring true for me. I haven't been reading as many SIMs in the last few years. I got so sick of babies and cops and cowboys and amnesia. This one didn't have any of that, just an original romantic story. More like this and I'll have to start up again!
not the author's best.......2002-02-19
Unlike some of Merline Lovelace's longer books, this story lacks interest. The premise--pilot frozen in the 1950s is thawed out now--seems to promise readers an interesting look at the hero's adjustment to modern values, but in fact he makes the adjustment fairly easily. His sexism, etc., is all on the surface. The heroine isn't terribly interesting either--she could pass for the heroine of several other romances without trouble. If you're going to start with a sci-fi premise, you should DO something with it--not hang the same old romance plot on it and expect it to be enough.
