Book Description
In the 21st century, the glittering Neo-Tokyo has risen from the rubble of a Tokyo destroyed by an apocalyptic telekinetic blast from a young boy called Akira -- the subject of a covert government experiment gone wrong now imprisoned in frozen stasis. But Tetsuo, an angry young man with immense and rapidly growing psychic abilities, has done the unthinkable: he has released Akira and set into motion a chain of events that could once destroy the city and drag the world to the brink of Armageddon. Resistance agents and an armada of government forces race against the clock to find the child with godlike powers before his unthinkable destructive abilities are unleashed! One of the true international classics of graphic fiction and unavailable for nearly a decade in America, Akira has once again taken America by storm, its first Dark Horse volume selling out almost overnight in comic shops and bookstores across the country!

Graphic SF Reader.......2007-09-03
With an emergency situation declared, the spooks and pollies start manoeuvring. The Colonel is not going to take the blame, and instigates a military takeover, after Kaneda and Kei have escaped with Akira.
More of the psionic children come out to play. A confrontation with the Colonel causes the death of one of these children, and this sets the awesomely powerful Akira off.
Neo-Tokyo gets it in the head, again.
Still very good.......2004-04-19
They throw a lot of new characters at you in this one, and it can be hard to keep up. But hang in there and read it twice if you have to. I can't wait until I can get the next one, because the ending if (almost literally!) da bomb.
The Saga Continues.......2003-10-03
If you know of the Akira Anime this Manga should be of no surprise; however, there are some definite differences that will become evident upon reading. 1st off the anime is way way shorter and edited to such an extent that most casual watchers are left feelin confused. These books will clear up any problems you may have had with the movie and expand upon the foundation the movie laid out. Be aware these books not in color.
The Middle-Chapter Blues.......2002-05-16
Volume Three of Katsuhiro Otomo's epic sci-fi saga finds the newly awakened Akira being pursued by Kei and Kaneda, the Army, Nazu's militant faction, weirdly-powered flying children, strange Government robots, etc.
After being freed from his cryogenic sleep by Tetsuo in the last volume, Akira is still groggy, and so we really don't get any insight into his character, and he doesn't become an active participant in the story until the very end of the book. What an ending, though! After this, the series spins off into totally unexpected territory. This volume seemed like mostly filler, though. The story is basically just a lot of people playing "keepaway" with Akira; He's stolen from Kaneda by the flying kids, Nazu snatches him from the flying kids, etc. Like most long stories (In any medium), the middle lags.
Otomo's art continues to be mind-boggling. The amount of detail in every panel is incredible, and you could just linger over the art all day. Even at three stars, Akira 3 is better than most other comics....
Akira, A Masterpiece!.......2001-10-22
The third volume in the Akira series is just like all the other volumes, magnificent. Although this is the shortest installment of the Akira series, at 282 pages, it's still great. I highly recomend
this book to any anime, sci-fi, or manga fan. If you want a good read get this book.

Shonen Jump Series 1 Books.......2007-01-04
This was a gift for our son for Christmas! It was great he has read most all of them and now wants most of the series.
Shonen Jump Manga Magic.......2005-11-09
This is easily the best collection of Americanized manga out. As most know, Shonen Jump was at one time a Japanese exclusive magazine that made its hop across the Pacific in 2003 for American fans to enjoy. Since that moment, it's become the best in manga and now contains a majority of the manga juggernauts.
This collection is a great start for those of you who are interested in reading manga, or for those of you who missed out on some of the earlier issues of Shonen Jump and want to catch up on what's going on. It also has the beginnings to the Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z mangas, which can't be found in Shonen Jump.
Below is a listing of the manga in this box, as well as a small description of each:
(1) Dragon Ball: This is the start of the Dragon Ball world. It explains the origins of Goku and his relationship with the Dragon Balls.
(2) Dragon Ball Z: The beginning of one of the greatest animes ever in its purest form. Unpolluted with minutes-long shouting and infested with excellent action and story, this details the story of Goku as a father and a husband, as well as following some of the other favorites of the Dragon Ball world.
(3) Naruto: Probably the best in Shonen Jump, Naruto is a tale of a boy fox-demon who wants nothing more than to earn his place in the world, and does so by training to become a ninja, despite the mistrust directed at him by some of his teacher and the hatred he receives from his fellow students.
(4) One Piece: A boy eats the mysterious Devil Fruit at a young age, making his body into rubber and also cursing his body: should he ever fall into water, he would sink instantly to the bottom. Despite that, he wants nothing more than to be the pirate king of a world of oceans.
(5) Shaman King: Yoh, a boy who can not only see ghosts but control them, comes to Tokyo to train to become a powerful shaman in the hopes that one day he'll win the title of Shaman King.
(6) Yu-Gi-Oh!: A story of constant morals and themes, it details a young, pint-sized, pointy-haired boy's struggles with a mysterious puzzle/necklace that grants him dark super powers as well as an alter-ego.
(7) YuYu Hakusho: A juvenile delinquent dies saving a child and finds out that his next was entirely unexpected and therefore gains a chance to come back to life. What he later finds out is coming back to life also makes him a spirit detective.

This pack is totaly awsome! If your obsessed about anime than this is the thing for you! I collect and read Shonen Jump magazine, and I kept getting curious about how all the stories had started. So I got this and it answered all my questions.

Amazon.com's Best of 2001
Lovely Emma Grenville is the headmistress of Miss Grenville's Academy, a contented spinster, and firmly on the shelf--or so she believes until Greydon Brakenridge, the Duke of Wycliffe, arrives in west Hampshire and threatens to raise her rent and close down her school. He's handsome, intelligent, and thoroughly exasperating, for he believes the academy is nothing more than a "marriage factory" to train young girls to become simpering, clinging ninnies without an original thought in their heads. Greydon is determined to seduce the lovely Miss Grenville, and Emma, although powerfully attracted to the Duke, is just as determined to teach him a lesson about the intelligence of women. Before Emma and her students are done with Greydon Brakenridge, he will have an entirely new respect for educated women. And before Greydon is done with Emma, he will have stirred up a scandal that even his powerful position may not be able to resolve.
A Matter of Scandal is a delightful Regency romp, sprinkled with charming secondary characters both hilarious and endearing, and with a hero and heroine whose romantic escapades and witty dialogue add up to an excellent tale that will please readers everywhere. --Lois Faye Dyer
Book Description
Miss Emma Grenville, who is no silly debutante, has had her fill of thick-headed noblemen who believe women exist solely to satisfy men. And her arrogant new landlord, the Duke of Wycliffe, is the worst of the lot! The too attractive cad wants to triple the rent on Emma's finishing school for young ladies to help get his uncle's estate out of dept. Well, Greydon Brakenridge clearly needs educating—about women. And Emma's just the one to enlighten him!
The sinfully handsome duke has never met a woman he couldn't outwit and seduce. And now that he's tricked Emma into a wager, he has the stubborn headmistress right where her wants her—and hopefully, soon in his bed. But the confirmed bachelor underestimates the intelligent and surprisingly sensual Miss Grenville. For she may be leading Greydon to a place neither dreamed they'd ever go—to the altar.
Customer Reviews:
Enjoyable fluffy read, witty author.......2007-04-02
I was surprised at how often this book had me laughing out loud, and that alone is the reason I gave it 5 stars instead of 4. The dry sarcasm in several comments was hilarious. I enjoyed the characters. Mentally quick Emma is a school headmistress and falls for the duke. The arrogant and condescending duke dislikes and distrusts all women. He believes the school does nothing more than teach girls how to trap a husband. He ends up changing his mind about the school and the students, and of course he falls for Emma. I'm going to try more from this author. Sexual content: moderate.
Tsk, tsk, Ms. Enoch - a little Austen envy, maybe?.......2007-01-24
The characters and plot were fairly weak in this story - Emma and Grey's first lovemaking encounter comes to mind, among other things - but what I found most distracting was Ms. Enoch liberal use of Pride and Prejudice names sprinkled throughout the book. Key characters were named Lizzy, Jane, Mary, and Georgiana. (And let's not forget our female protagonist, Emma -- but that's another story. Literally!)
This is my first Suzanne Enoch read and I won't be recommending this book to anyone because the writing wasn't strong enough and the ending was even more unsatisfying. I see a lot of reviews fawning over her work, though, so I may try another Enoch someday.
Enjoyable -- 4.5 stars.......2007-01-06
The wager that is the basis for this plot was a little ragged and poorly-defined, and the ending was a little anti-climactic, but the characters were delightful, and their motivations were sufficiently believable to require not too much effort in suspending disbelief. So many novels that fall into the category of "romance", focus mainly only on the hero and heroine, which can actually be tiresome and strain one's belief. This one had a supporting cast of delightful characters--funny, distinctive, individual--that made the book more fun, and the romance less claustrophobic. Too many novels have only 2 characters, the lovers falling into bed in the second chapter, which leaves less room for fireworks or foreplay. But these two were witty and well-matched opponents to start, which adds much spice to the development of their connection.
Lots of fun, well worth the read. I would read another by this author.
The Best of the Three Rings!.......2006-07-09
I think Suzanne Enoch is great, and after reading many of her more recent novels, I read the With This Ring trilogy. Knowing they were published earlier than some of the others I had read, I noticed that the writing was good, but now she's better. This trilogy shows her maturing as a writer, as well. The third book, A Matter of Scandal, was by far the most satisfying of the three reads. The banter between the the hero and heroine is delightful, and the chararcters are very well-developed. The ending ends a bit abruptly and somewhat tidily, in my opinion, but it brings a rush of exhilaration, nonetheless. You should read all three in the trilogy if you're an Enoch fan, but if you're just wanting the best of Suzanne Enoch, this is the one.
Every thing that Enoch writes is golden!.......2006-06-27
A Matter of Scandal by Suzanne Enoch is the final book of th With this Ring Series. Emma runs a finishing school for young ladies and makes a bet with the Duke of Wycliffe to save her school. The bet goes a muck and your have scandal, romance and great climax scene. With This Ring series:Reforming a Rake,Meet Me at Midnight,A Matter of Scandal.
Product Description
Victoria Fontaine's mischievous nature and brilliant, biting wit have scandalized the ton . . . and earned her the nickname "Vixen." But her reputation pales before the infamous Lord Althorpe's, known as "Lord Sin." The years Sinclair Grafton spent on the Continent have done nothing to quell the rumors about his past. And when the stunning Vixen and the handsome rogue find themselves momentarily alone at an elegant gala, their passion gets the best of them. Caught by Victoria's father in a shockingly sensual kiss, Sin and Vixen have no recourse except a wedding. At first the very liberal lady relishes the thought of an unfettered marriage to an indifferent, unrepentant scoundrel. But she suspects there is more to this enigmatic, remarkable man, that his rakish persona is merely a pose. And after one unforgettable night of ecstasy, Lady Vixen is determined to unmask the true Sin . . . to satisfy a passionate heart that craves far more than freedom.
